Abstract:In the solvent-free system,n-butyl lactate was synthesized by one step reaction from n-butyl alcohol and lactic acid,using immobilized enzyme as catalyst.The optimization of reaction conditions were as follows:molar ratio of acid to alcohol 1∶1.5,Novozym435(Candida Antarctica Lipase B)catalyst amount 115U/mL on the total volume of reactants,reaction temperature 70℃,molecular sieve after 4h,continuous reaction time 2h,the ester yield is more than 85%.

Abstract:The alkylation product 4-(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)butyric acid could be synthesized via the reaction of 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene with γ-butyrolactone catalyzed by AlCl 3 at room temperature. The catalyst amount and reaction time were important factors affecting the product yield. The γ-butyrolactone could be converted to the product quantitatively under certain reaction conditions, but it was not suitable for industrial application because of its environmental pollution. Therefore, some polymer resins were chosen to replace AlCl 3 in order to make this process much more friendly to the environment. Nafion-H was the best among the polymer resins in terms of both the product selectivity and yield. The yield of 4-(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)butyric acid increased with the increase of reaction temperature and reached the maximum value of 84.5% at 200 ℃, while the selectivity was about 90%. Nafion-H could be reused after simply washing and drying, but its activity decreased by 4%～5% with each use. A reaction mechanism under the Nafion-H catalysis was proposed, in which the activation of γ-butyrolactone was the key step. The acid catalyst Nafion-H made the C-O bond in the 4-position of γ-butyrolactone broken to form an active intermediate, which further reacted with 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene to produce 4-(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)butyric acid.

Abstract:The catalytic amination of n-butylamine and methanol,which is high in atom utilization,was conducted to produce N,N-dimethyl-n-butylamine economically and environmentally.The catalysts were prepared by impregnation of Cu,Ni,Co on the phosphoric acid treated γ-Al2O3 and the processes were studied in a tubular fixed-bed reactor.The characteristics of the catalysts and the reaction conditions were observed experimentally.Results showed that the catalyst with Co mass fraction of 30%～31% and Ni mass fraction of 9%～10% performed better in the amination.The conversion of 81.7% of the n-butylamine and the selectivity of 72.9% for the desired product were obtained under the proper reaction conditions at 0.3 MPa,160 ℃,0.3 h-1 and molar ratio of methanol∶butylamine=6∶1.

Abstract:n-butyl lactate was synthesized from lactic acid and n-butanol with rare earth solid superacid SO42-/ZrO2-Nd2O3 as catalyst. The effect of primary factors on esterification was investigated by orthogonal experiment. The optimum reaction conditions were determined: based on 0.1 mol lactic acid, molar ratio of n-butanol to lactic acid 3.0:1, the amount of catalyst 0.55 g, 15 ml cyclohexane as water carrying agent, reaction time 2.0 h at reflux temperature. The esterification rate reached 98.7% under the optimum condition. Abstract:BACKGROUNDLactulose, a valuable lactose-originated bifidus factor' product, is exclusively produced by chemical-based isomerization commercially. A complexing agent of sodium aluminate exhibiting high conversion efficiency and strong recyclable stability is more practical for industrial applications. In this study, efficient purification of high-purity lactulose through recycling of sodium aluminate and further desalination by nanofiltration (NF) was implemented on a pilot scale. RESULTSOver 99.5% of the catalyst was prior recycled in the form of Al(OH)(3) precipitate by pH-induced precipitation and centrifugation; residual aluminum was further absorbed by ion exchange resin to an acceptable level (10mgkg(-1)). Subsequently, impurities (monosaccharides and NaCl) were ideally separated from lactulose syrup by NF based on their significant retention differences (lactulose 94.8-97.2% > lactose 86.2-93.5% > monosaccharides 36.3-48.7% > NaCl 9.5-31.1%). High-purity (>95%) lactulose was obtained with >90% yield in both constant and variable volume diafiltration (CVD and VVD) modes when the volume dilution ratio (V-c/V-f) was 4.0 and 2.5 respectively. Both experimental and predicted results showed that the VVD mode was more water-saving in practice. CONCLUSIONThis is the first trial purification of lactulose syrup from chemical isomerization of lactose catalyzed by sodium aluminate, and the applied methodology is a promising industrial-scale purification strategy. Abstract:Synthesis of n-butyl lactate with raw materials of lactic acid and butanol,catalyst of aluminum chloride using ultrasound-Microwave-assist-ed system was studied.It is indicated that esterification rate could reach 97.4 % when molar ratios of lactic acid to n-butanol by 1∶3,the power of mi-crowave radiation was 200 W with catalyst by 0.45 g and reacted for 12 min.
Biocatalytic Production of Ethyl Butyrate from Butyric Acid with Immobilized Candida Rugosa Lipase on Cotton Cloth

Abstract:A novel method involving polyethylenimine (PEI) coating and glutaraldehyde cross-linking processes was developed to immobilize Candida rugosa lipase onto cotton cloth. After the systematic investigation, the optimal lipase immobilization was achieved when 0.1g lipase was loaded on 1.5g support, which was pretreated with 10ml of 1.0mg/ml PEI solution at pH 8.0. Subsequent catalytic analysis of immobilized lipase for ethyl butyrate synthesis was also carried out in the Erlenmeyer flasks. The results indicated that when optimal 0.25M ethanol and 0.6M butyric acid were catalyzed by the immobilized lipase at 25°C, the highest conversion yield of 91.2% and 1.27mmolh−1g−1 productivity of ethyl butyrate were obtained. Furthermore, a kinetic model of Ping Pong Bi-Bi mode with inhibition of both substrates was proposed and validated by experimental data. To explore the practical potential of immobilized lipase, its operational stability was evaluated and the residual activity was remained about 50% after 12 repeated recycles, with a half-life time of about 300h for the immobilized lipase. Finally, a recycle batch reactor using immobilized lipase was developed for ethyl butyrate production. The achieved result of 0.85M final ethyl butyrate concentration, with the conversion of 70.6% and the productivity of 1.45mmolh−1g−1, had revealed the promising potential of this immobilized lipase in practical applications.

Abstract:L-lactide was prepared from L-lactic acid using the stannous octoate as the catalyst. The effects of temperature and pressure on preparation of lactide were discussed in this paper. The high purity lactide can be obtained by washing with water and recrystallizing. The yield of the lactide reaches 40. 6%. The results of polarimeter, IR, chromatogram and mass spectrum show that the prepared L-lactide is pure.
Extractive Fermentation with Non-Ionic Surfactants to Enhance Butanol Production

Abstract:One of the major limitations in butanol fermentation is the end product toxicity which limits the butanol yield and increases the downstream processing costs. In this work, a range of non-ionic surfactants (Triton X 114, L64, L62LF, L61, and L62) was tested to enhance the acetone butanol (AB) production, and to extract and separate butanol from the fermentation broth. In biocompatibility tests, a volume fraction of 3% L62, L62LF, and L61 did not show inhibition to AB production in 72-h fermentation using Clostridium pasteurianum. Three-percent L64 reduced the AB yield whereas Triton X 114 (3%) inhibited the AB production. Further optimization with L62 at 6% resulted in a butanol yield of 225% higher than the control. The partition coefficient of butanol in L62-water two phase systems in cloud point extraction ranged from 3 to 4. A considerable enrichment of butanol (6 times) was achieved in the surfactant-rich phase over the control. In addition, the downstream process volume was reduced by 4-6 times. Butanol was separated from the surfactant-rich phase (obtained from model system) by evaporation between 120 and 130 degrees C. The butanol was enriched in the condensate reaching a concentration of 106.8 g l(-1) under which butanol automatically separated into two phases. The L62 was recovered by evaporation and reused for 3 times without affecting the partition coefficient, volume reduction, and butanol recovery in the surfactant-rich phase. The results demonstrated that the L62 not only significantly enhanced the butanol production but also functioned as a good extractant for separating butanol from the fermentation broth. Abstract:We do systemic research on the technological process and conditions of the alkaline isomerization of lactose,while choosing the refined lactose as raw material,and sodium aluminate as catalyst.The response surface methodology was conducted to optmize the conditions for isomerization based on the single-factor test.The best way to convert lactose to lactulose is found as follows:reaction temperature is 58℃,reaction time is 31 min,molar ratio of sodium aluminate and lactose is 2:1.The yield is 83.2%.

Abstract:lactide was prepared from lactic acid with sodium lactate as catalyst.Effects of temperature,pressure,catalyst quantity as well as Dehydration time on yield of lactide were studied.Lactide was characterized by melting point、IR spectrum.The formation and pyrolysis of oligomer were analysed.The results showed that sodium lactate had excellent character as catalyst,the yield of lactide was 81%,the proper reaction conditions were:catalyst quantity was 1.5%,dehydration temperature was 130℃,dehydration pressure was-0.030MPa,dehydration time was 3h,pyrolysis temperature、pressure and time was 230℃、-0.095MPa and 3h.

Abstract:An efficient strategy for the synthesis of high-purity lactulose through chemical isomerization of lactose was developed using recyclable catalyst sodium aluminate. Maximum yield of 85.45±1.79% was obtained from 35% (w/v) of lactose using a 1:1M ratio of NaAlO2-lactose after reaction at 60°C and pH 12 for 50min, with a purity ratio (Pu) of approximately 95%. Al(OH)3 precipitation from lactulose syrup through pH adjustment showing a superior decolorizing efficiency was implemented, which simplified the removal of catalyst and provided a convenient approach to achieve catalyst recovery. After dilution by 5 folds, nearly 98.5% of catalyst was removed through centrifugation and 85.50±1.81% of lactulose was recovered. Modified recycle use of catalyst without lactulose loss was carried out, after five consecutive recycles, total yield of lactulose (TYLactulose) and new yield of lactulose (NYLactulose) were of 80.44±1.05% and 73.87±0.50%, respectively, reflecting a high stability by using this recyclable methodology.

Abstract:Using the ramification of renewable bio-lactic acid of butyl lactate as raw material,the influence of temperature,pressure,space velocity and N2 protection about the reaction was reserached on the catalyst which prepared by ourself.Then obtained the optimal reaction conditions:the temperature was from 400℃ to 415℃,the pressure was atmospheric pressure,space velocity was 1.8h-1,N2 protection(0.8L/h).The optimal reaction results were:the conversion rate of butyl lactate was 76.1%,the total mol selectivity of butyl acrylate and acrylic acid was 72.5%.This flow was an active exploration of transforming from renewable biomass in to valuable basic chemicals.

Abstract:Sulfated tin oxide catalysts promoted with Fe2O3(0.5%-5%) have been successfully prepared by co-precipitation method for conversion of glucose to butyl levulinate.The effects of different reaction conditions and catalyst reuse on butyl levulinate yield are also investigated.The surface structure and acidity changes of the fresh and reused catalysts are characterized by FT-IR、XRD and NH3-TPD.The results indicate that an optimized butyl levulinate molar yield of 30.81% can be obtained under the following conditions:2.5% dosage of catalysts calcinated at 550℃ for 3 h,200℃ of reaction temperature and 2 hours of reaction time.And the recovered catalysts are found to remain some catalytic activity after being reused five times.

Abstract:Lactide,the important intermediate for synthesis of poly lactic acid,was prepared from D,L-lactic acid with ionic liquid as catalyst.High purity lactide was obtained by recrystallization,and identified with melting point measurement and infrared ray spectroscopy.The influence factors,such as the type and dosage of ionic liquid on the yield of lactide were discussed in the preparation of lactide.The results showed that ionic liquid as catalyst was feasible and could lower the viscosity of the reaction system for preparation of lactide under mild reaction conditions,and the optimum conditions for using [NH(C2H5)3][HSO4] catalyst were that the dosage of catalyst was 5%(mass),oligomerization and depolymerization temperature were in the range of 110—140℃ and 190—250℃ respectively.
