MISUNDERSTANDING IN DRAWING ELECTRIC FIELD LINES FOR POINT CHARGE SYSTEM

Abstract:When electric field is shown by the electric field lines in a plane,generally,the definition of the tangent direction of the lines is considered,but the quantitative requirements of the electric field lines density are ignored.In this paper,we discuss the quantitative description of the electric field lines density,and point out that the number of the field lines from or to a point charge in a plane is proportional to the square root of its electric quantity.We also prove that the property of equal angle between the electric field lines around point charges cannot be satisfied in the case of a pair of point charges with different values and opposite signs.
