Study on the Removal Effect of NH_4-N by the Biological Manganese Sand Filter Formed Naturally

Abstract:This article studied on the removal effect of NH_4~+-N by the V-filter of the traditional water technology in some supplying-water works in southern China.Also,it analyzed the reasons that the sand V - filter changed naturally into the biologi- cal manganese sand filter when the works carried on the pre-oxidation method of the potassium manganese for a period of time. The findings indicated that it was advantageous to form the membrane in the filter surface when the ammonia nitrogen density was above 1.5rag/L;when the ammonia nitrogen density reached 2.3rag/L,the biomembrane surface activated strongest;the ammo- nia nitrogen penetration load was 17.3mg/L.
