Abstract:In this paper, we point out that the conditions given in [1] are sufficient but unnecessary for the global asymptotically stable equilibrium of a class of delay differential equations. Instead, we prove that under weaker conditions, it is still global asymptotically stable.

Abstract:Research on delayed neural networks with variable self-inhibitions, interconnection weights, and inputs is an important issue. In this paper, we discuss a large class of delayed dynamical systems with almost periodic self-inhibitions, inter-connection weights, and inputs. This model is universal and includes delayed systems with time-varying delays, distributed delays as well as combination of both. We prove that under some mild conditions, the system has a unique almost periodic solution, which is globally exponentially stable. We propose a new approach, which is independent of existing theory concerning with existence of almost periodic solution for dynamical systems.

Abstract:A new globally exponentially synchronization criterion for complex dynamical networks is proposed in this paper taking account of discrete time communications units and time delay is considered, in which globally exponential convergence is achieved. By introducing larger decision matrices to gain time-delay synchronization criterion, it not only inherits the benefits of full utilization of available information, but also has less conservatism. At the same time, except for original system parameters, no more new decision variables arc increased. A time-dependent Lyapunov functional approach is proposed to prove the effectiveness of the criterion. Some simulation results hold the feasibility of the theory.

Abstract:In this Letter, we discuss delayed periodic dynamical systems, compare capability of criteria of global exponential stability in terms of various Lp (1⩽p<∞) norms. A general approach to investigate global exponential stability in terms of various Lp (1⩽p<∞) norms is given. Sufficient conditions ensuring global exponential stability are given, too. Comparisons of various stability criteria are given. More importantly, it is pointed out that sufficient conditions in terms of L1 norm are enough and easy to implement in practice.

Abstract:This paper investigates the problem of exponential stability analysis for discrete-time singular systems with time-varying delay. The delay enters into the singular systems in a random way, and such randomly occurring delay (ROD) obeys a certain Bernoulli distributed white noise sequence. By employing the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, a sufficient condition is established to ensure the considered systems exponentially mean-square stable. Two numerical examples are given to show the usefulness of the obtained result.

Abstract:Some new sufficient conditions for the global exponential stability and estimations of bound on the rate of exponential convergence of the neural networks with time-varying delays are obtained by means of an approach based on delay differential inequality. The method, which does not make use of any Lyapunov functionals, is simple and valid for the stability analysis of neural networks with time-varying delays. Some previously established results in the literature are shown to be special cases of the presented results.

Abstract:In this brief, dynamical systems with unbounded time-varying delays are investigated. Two approaches are developed to derive sufficient conditions ensuring the existence, uniqueness of the equilibrium and its global stability. Moreover, different from globally asymptotical stability and globally exponential stability, a new concept of stability, global power stability, is proposed. Under mild conditions, we prove that the dynamical systems with unbounded time-varying delays are globally power stable.

This class of delayed differential systems includes Hopfield and Cellular neural networks with discontinuous activations as special cases. We prove that under some mild conditions, this system has a unique almost-periodic solution, which is globally exponential stable.

Abstract:In this paper, without assuming the boundedness, strict monotonicity and differentiability of the activation functions, we utilize a new Lyapunov function to analyze the global convergence of a class of neural networks models with time delays. A new sufficient condition guaranteeing the existence, uniqueness and global exponential stability of the equilibrium point is derived. This stability criterion imposes constraints on the feedback matrices independently of the delay parameters. The result is compared with some previous works. Furthermore, the condition may be less restrictive in the case that the activation functions are hyperbolic tangent.

Abstract:This note examines issues concerning global exponential convergence of neural networks with unbounded distributed delays. Sufficient conditions are derived by exploiting exponentially fading memory property of delay kernel functions. The method is based on comparison principle of delay differential equations and does not need the construction of any Lyapunov functionals. It is simple yet effective in deriving less conservative exponential convergence conditions and more detailed componentwise decay estimates. The results of this note and [Chu T. An exponential convergence estimate for analog neural networks with delay. Phys Lett A 2001;283:113–8] suggest a class of neural networks whose globally exponentially convergent dynamics is completely insensitive to a wide range of time delays from arbitrary bounded discrete type to certain unbounded distributed type. This is of practical interest in designing fast and reliable neural circuits. Finally, an open question is raised on the nature of delay kernels for attaining exponential convergence in an unbounded distributed delayed neural network.

Abstract:The problem of delay-dependent robust exponential stability is investigated for uncertain singular systems with stale delay. In terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, some improved delay-dependent conditions are presented to ensure the considered system to be regular, impulse free and exponentially stable via an augmented Lyapunov functional and tighter integral inequalities. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness and the benefits of the proposed methods.

Abstract:The exponential stability of the delayed cellular neural networks (DCNN's) is investigated. By dividing the network state variables into some parts according to the characters of the neural networks, some new sufficient conditions of exponential stability are derived via constructing a Liapunov function. It is shown that the conditions differ from previous ones. The new conditions, which are associated with some initial value, are represented by some blocks of the interconnection matrix.

Abstract:In this paper, the authors investigate the synchronization of an array of linearly coupled identical dynamical systems with a delayed coupling. Here the coupling matrix can be asymmetric and reducible. Some criteria ensuring delay-independent and delay-dependent global synchronization are derived respectively. It is shown that if the coupling delay is less than a positive threshold, then the coupled network will be synchronized. On the other hand, with the increase of coupling delay, the synchronization stability of the network will be restrained, even eventually de-synchronized.

Abstract:This paper addresses the dynamic properties of a class of continuous-time switched nonlinear systems with perturbations and delays. With the assumption that the nominal system is exponentially stable, it is shown that the trajectory of the perturbed system exponentially decays to or asymptotically approaches origin provided that the perturbation exponentially decays to or asymptotically approaches origin. These properties are then applied to cascade systems for their stability analysis. It is proven that a delayed switched nonlinear cascade system is exponentially stable if and only if all subsystems obtained from the cascade system by deleting the coupling terms are exponentially stable. A sufficient condition ensuring asymptotic stability of a cascade system is also proposed.

Abstract:Based on our preceding paper, this note is concerned with the exponential stability of the solution semigroup for the abstract linear autonomous functional differential equation x˙(t)=L(xt) (∗) where L is a continuous linear operator on some abstract phase space B into a Banach space E. We prove that the solution semigroup of (∗) is exponentially stable if and only if the fundamental operator (∗) is exponentially stable and the phase space B is an exponentially fading memory space.
