Abstract:This paper provides a class of upper and lower solution definitions for second-order coupled systems by transforming the fourth-order differential equation into a second-order differential system. Then, by constructing a homotopy parameter and utilizing the maximum principle, we propose an upper and lower solutions method for studying a class of second-order coupled systems with Dirichlet boundary conditions and obtain an existence result.

Abstract:For a class of nonlinear systems of partial differential equations of high order in a cylindrical domain the following boundary value problem is considered: Cauchy-type conditions are prescribed on the upper and lower bases of the cylinder, and a Robin-type condition is prescribed on the lateral part of the boundary. This boundary value problem is reduced in an equivalent way to a nonlinear functional equation in a certain subspace of the Sobolev space. Under certain assumptions about the nonlinear terms an a priori estimate is obtained for the solution of the problem in question and the existence of the solution is established, while in the case when these conditions fail, the absence of a solution is established. The question of uniqueness is also discussed for the solution. Bibliography: 18 titles.

Abstract:We consider two simple boundary value problems at resonance for an ordinary differential equation. Employing a shift argument, a regular fixed point operator is constructed. We employ the monotone method coupled with a method of upper and lower solutions and obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions of boundary value problems at resonance for nonlinear boundary value problems. Three applications are presented in which explicit upper solutions and lower solutions are exhibited for the first boundary value problem. Two applications are presented for the second boundary value problem. Of interest, the upper and lower solutions are easily and explicitly constructed. Of primary interest, the upper and lower solutions are elements of the kernel of the linear problem at resonance.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly establish the existence of at least three non-trivial solutions for a class of nonhomogeneous quasilinear elliptic systems with Dirichlet boundary value or Neumann boundary value in a bounded domain $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^N $ and $N\geq 1$. We exploit the method which is based on [6]. This method let us obtain the concrete open interval about the parameter $\lambda$. Since the quasilinear term depends on $u$ and $\nabla u$, it is necessary for our proofs to use the theory of monotone operators and the skill of adding one dimension to space.

Abstract:We study the existence of positive solutions for a fractional differential equation with integral boundary conditions. Our solutions are placed in the space of Hölder functions and the main tools used in the proof of the results are the classical Schauder fixed point theorem and a sufficient condition about the relative compactness in Hölder spaces. Moreover, some examples are shown illustrating the results.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to study the existence of solutions and the monotone method of second-order periodic boundary value problems when the lower and upper solutions $\alpha$ and $\beta$ violate the boundary conditions $ \alpha(0)=\alpha(2\pi)$ and $\beta(0)=\beta(2\pi)$. We present several comparison results. We show that the method of lower and upper solutions coupled with the monotone iterative technique is valid to obtain constuctive proof of existence of solutions.

Abstract:We study linear systems of ordinary differential equations of an arbitrary order on a finite interval with the most general (generic) inhomogeneous boundary conditions in Sobolev spaces. We investigate the character of solvability of inhomogeneous boundary-value problems, prove their Fredholm properties, and find the indices, the dimensions of the kernel, and the cokernel of these problems. Moreover, we obtained necessary and sufficient conditions for continuity in a parameter of solutions to the introduced problems in Sobolev spaces.
