Abstract:To study the prescribed $k$ -curvature problem of 2nd-order symmetric curvature tensors on complete noncompact Riemannian manifolds, we consider a class of fully nonlinear elliptic partial differential equations. It is proved that on a Riemannian manifold with negative sectional curvature and Ricci curvature bounded from below, the equation is solvable provided that all the eigenvalues of the tensor are negative. The result is applicable to the prescribed $k$ -curvature problems of modified Schouten tensor and Bakry–Émery Ricci tensor.

Abstract:The authors consider the problem of conformally deforming a metric such that the k-curvature defined by an elementary symmetric function of the eigenvalues of the Bakry-Emery Ricci tensor on a compact manifold with boundary to a prescribed function. A consequence of our main result is that there exists a complete metric such that the Monge-Ampère type equation with respect to its Bakry-Emery Ricci tensor is solvable, provided that the initial Bakry-Emery Ricci tensor belongs to a negative convex cone.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the existence of admissible (and strictly convex) smooth solutions to the prescribed $L_p$ quotient type curvature problem with $p>1$. For cases where $p=k-l+1$ and $p> k-l+1$, we obtain an admissible solution without any additional conditions, which is strictly spherically convex under a convexity condition. Under the same convexity condition, we establish the existence of a strictly spherically convex solution for the case $p<k-l+1$, provided that the prescribed function is even, a condition known to be necessary.

Abstract:We derive interior curvature bounds for admissible solutions of a class of curvature equations subject to affine Dirichlet data, generalizing a well-known estimate of Pogorelov for equations of Monge-Ampere type. For equations for which convexity of the solution is the natural ellipticity assumption, the curvature bound is proved for solutions with C-1,C-1 Dirichlet data. We also use the curvature bounds to improve and extend various existence results for the Dirichlet and Plateau problems.

Abstract:In this paper we consider the problem of finding closed hypersurfaces with prescribed Weingarten curvature in a large class of Riemannian manifolds. Under some sufficient conditions, we obtain an existence result by establishing a priori estimates and standard degree theory for the admissible solutions to the prescribed curvature equation. We mainly show that the primary technique developed in Urbas, Wang and the second author’s work in 2004 is flexible enough to be used in more general ambient geometry.

Abstract:In this paper we study the existence of closed convex hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space Rn+1 such that a Weingarten curvature, regarded as a function of their unit normal, is equal to a given positive function on the unit sphere Sn. Two classical problems of this type, namely the Christoffel problem [6] and the Minkowski problem [16], which address respectively the cases of harmonic and Gauss curvature, were completely solved in the 1970’s [7,9,17]. Besides the harmonic and Gauss curvatures, the most interesting Weingarten curvatures are probably the mean curvature, or more generally the k-curvatures (1 ≤ k ≤ n)

Abstract:In this paper, we study the problem of conformally deforming a metric to a prescribed kth order symmetric function of the eigenvalues of the Schouten tensor on compact Riemannian manifolds with totally geodesic boundary. We prove the solvability of the problem and the compactness of the solution set for the case k >= n/2, provided the conformal class admits a k-admissible metric. These results have been proved by Gursky and Viaclovsky, Trudinger and Wang for the manifolds without boundary, and by Jin et al. and S. Chen for the locally conformally flat manifolds with boundary.

Abstract:This article concerns the Lp Minkowski problem for q-capacity. We consider the case p >= 1 and 1 < q < nin the smooth category by a kind of curvature flow, which converges smoothly to the solution of a Monge-Amp & eacute;re type equation. We show the existence of smooth solution to the problem for p >= n. We also provide a proof for the weak solution to the problem when p >= 1, which has been obtained by Zou and Xiong.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate a boundary case of the classical prescribed curvature problem. We focus on prescribing the scalar curvature function K and the boundary mean curvature H on the standard ball. Our analysis extendes previous studies by considering the scenario where the curvatures K and H are close to constants. Abstract:Abstract Let $K$ be a smooth, origin-symmetric, strictly convex body in ${\mathbb{R}}^{n}$. If for some $\ell \in \textrm{GL}(n,{\mathbb{R}})$, the anisotropic Riemannian metric $\frac{1}{2}D^{2} \left \Vert \cdot \right \Vert_{\ell K}^{2}$, encapsulating the curvature of $\ell K$, is comparable to the standard Euclidean metric of ${\mathbb{R}}^{n}$ up-to a factor of $\gamma> 1$, we show that $K$ satisfies the even $L^{p}$-Minkowski inequality and uniqueness in the even $L^{p}$-Minkowski problem for all $p \geq p_{\gamma }:= 1 - \frac{n+1}{\gamma }$. This result is sharp as $\gamma \searrow 1$ (characterizing centered ellipsoids in the limit) and improves upon the classical Minkowski inequality for all $\gamma < \infty $. In particular, whenever $\gamma \leq n+1$, the even log-Minkowski inequality and uniqueness in the even log-Minkowski problem hold.

Abstract:We study an eigenvalue problem for prescribed $\sigma_k$-curvature equations of star-shaped, $k$-convex, closed hypersurfaces. We establish the existence of a unique eigenvalue and its associated hypersurface, which is also unique, provided that the given data is even. Moreover, we show that the hypersurface must be strictly convex. A crucial aspect of our proof involves deriving uniform estimates in $p$ for $L_p$-type prescribed curvature equations.

Abstract:The $L_p$-Christoffel-Minkowski problem and the prescribed $L_p$-Weingarten curvature problem for convex hypersurfaces in Euclidean space are important problems in geometric analysis. In this paper, we consider their counterparts in hyperbolic space. For the horospherical $p$-Christoffel-Minkowski problem first introduced and studied by the second and third authors, we prove the existence of smooth, origin-symmetric, strictly horospherically convex solutions by establishing a new full rank theorem. We also propose the prescribed $p$-shifted Weingarten curvature problem and prove an existence result.

Abstract:In this paper we study the prescribed centroaffine curvature problem in the Euclidean space Rn+1. This problem is equivalent to solving a Monge–Ampère equation on the unit sphere. It corresponds to the critical case of the Blaschke–Santaló inequality. By approximation from the subcritical case, and using an obstruction condition and a blow-up analysis, we obtain sufficient conditions for the a priori estimates, and the existence of solutions up to a Lagrange multiplier.
