Abstract:Objective This study was to evaluate whether resin luting system could improve the fracture resistance of endodontically treated incisors with prefabricated and cast metal posts.Methods Fourty intact maxillary central incisors after endodontical treatments were randomly assigned to four groups of 10 teeth each. The teeth were then restored with prefabricated titanium alloy posts or cast nickel-chromium post-and-cores and metal-ceramic crowns. The posts and crowns were cemented with either adhesive composite resin luting system or glass ionomer cement. All restored teeth were thermocycled for 5000 cycles (5℃/55℃) as a fatigue test. Each specimen was secured in a universal testing machine. A compressive load was applied at an angle of 135 degrees to the long-axis of the tooth with a crosshead speed of 1.5mm/s until initial fracture. Fracture loads and modes (repairable or catastrophic) were recorded.Results The fracture load was 499.82±168.90N in the group of Ti-alloy post with resin cement (group 1) and was 388.98±125.22N in the group of the same posts with glass ionomer cement (group 2); The fracture load in the group of cast post with resin cement (group 3) was 412.55±99.29N,while 337.41±121.18N in the group of the same posts with glass ionomer cement (group 4). The repairable fracture observed from Group 1 to Group 4 was 40%, 20%, 20% and 30% respectively. No significant difference was found for fracture load and fracture mode between groups with different luting agents (P>0.05).Conclusion It indicates that adhesive composite resin luting system might not significantly improve the fracture resistance of the pulpless incisors restored with metal posts.

Abstract:This study aimed to evaluate the effect of direct restorations using unidirectional glass fiber orientations and a short-fiber-reinforced composite (SFRC) on the fracture resistance of endodontically treated premolars with mesio-occluso-distal cavities. Ninety double-rooted premolars were selected. Fifteen teeth were left intact/as a control group. The endodontic treatment and cavity preparations of seventy-five teeth were performed and divided into five experimental groups: Resin composite (RC), modified transfixed technique + RC, circumferential technique + RC, cavity floor technique + RC, and SFRC + RC. All teeth were fractured under oblique static loading at a 30° angle using a universal testing machine. The fracture patterns were observed and classified. Data were analyzed with one-way analysis of variance, Pearson chi-square, and Tukey HSD post hoc tests (p = 0.05). The highest fracture strength values were obtained in intact teeth (599.336 N), followed by modified transfixed + RC treated teeth (496.58 N), SFRC + RC treated teeth (469.62 N), RC (443.51 N), circumferential + RC treated teeth (442.835 N), and cavity floor + RC treated teeth (404.623 N) (p 0.05). Unrepairable fractures were observed at low rates (20%) in the modified transfixed + RC and SFRC + RC teeth, and at higher rates in RC (73.3%), cavity floor + RC (60%), and circumferential + RC (80%) teeth. The application of an SFRC or the modified transfixed technique yielded an improved fracture strength and the fracture pattern of ETPs being restored with a universal injectable composite.

Abstract:Objectives. This in vitro study aimed to evaluate and compare the fracture resistance and mode of failure of endodontically treated maxillary premolar teeth restored with different direct composite restorative techniques. Materials and Methods. Forty freshly extracted maxillary premolar teeth with comparable sizes were used in this in vitro study. Each tooth received mesio-occluso-distal cavity preparation (3 mm width and 6 mm depth) followed by endodontic treatment. Canals were instrumented with RACE EVO rotary files (FKG, Dentaire, Switzerland) up to MAF 25/.06. Canals were obturated using a single cone technique, then the teeth were divided arbitrarily into five groups (n = 8): Group A: direct composite resin only using a centripetal technique, Group B: direct composite resin with glass fiber post, Group C: direct composite resin with short fiber-reinforced composite (everX Flow), Group D: direct composite resin with leno wave ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (LWUHMWPE) fibers placed on cavity floor, and Group E: direct composite resin with LWUHMWPE fibers placed circumferentially around the cavity walls (wallpapering technique). The teeth were then stored in distilled water at 37°C for 24 hr. The fracture resistance of each sample was measured using a universal testing machine in Newton (N). The data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the Bonferroni test with a significance level of 0.05. Results. Group E recorded the maximum mean of fracture load (2,139.375 N), while Group A recorded the minimum mean of fracture load (689.6250 N). The one-way ANOVA test revealed a significant difference between the groups. The Bonferroni test showed a significant difference between each two groups, with the exception of those between Groups B and C and between Groups D and E, where there were no statistically significant differences ( p > 0.05 ). Conclusion. Restoration of endodontically treated teeth using the wallpapering technique recorded the highest mean of fracture resistance with a repairable mode of fracture.

Abstract:Background/purpose: The restoration of endodontically treated teeth (ETT) with cervical defects has been a challenge for dentists. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of restorative treatment on the fracture resistance of ETT with cervical defects. Materials and methods: One hundred and twenty freshly extracted human intact straightsingle-root maxillary premolars were randomly divided into 6 groups. Group 1 remained untreated. Cervical defects of 4 mm-depth and 3 mm-height were created in groups 2-6. Group 3-6: root canal treatment. Group 4: direct composite resin restoration. Group 5: 2-mm fullcusp-coverage composite resin restoration. Group 6: fiber-post-supported composite resin restoration. A static fracture test was used to determine the fracture resistance of teeth under axial (n = 10) and palatal (30 degrees) (n = 10) loading. Fracture modes were categorized as restorable and unrestorable. Results: Compared with intact teeth, the axial fracture resistance of teeth with cervical defects decreased by approximately 39%, and endodontic procedures resulted in 10% more reduction. When ETT with cervical defects were restored using direct composite resin filling, the axial fracture resistance recovered to 72% of that of intact teeth, but no significant change occurred under oblique loading. After full-cusp-coverage or fiber-post-supported restoration, fracture resistance showed complete recovery to the value of intact teeth (P > 0.05). Sixty percent of fractures were unrestorable for fiber-post- supported teeth, while in the fullcusp-coverage restoration group, 80e90% of fractures were restorable. Conclusion: Full-cusp-coverage restoration or fiber-post-supported restoration could improve the fracture resistance of ETT with cervical defects, whereas unrestorable fractures easily occurred in fiber-post-supported restorations. Abstract:Objectives: To investigate in vitro post-fatigue fracture behavior of endodontically treated molars having been differently restored. Methods: A total of 120 extracted human molars were used. A total of 120 specimens in 14 test groups and one control group (n = 8) were root canal treated. After postendodontic sealing and build-up (AdheSE Universal, SDR), additional MOD preparations were cut. Postendodontic restorations were: Direct restorations (Tetric EvoCeram BulkFill bonded with AdheSE Universal and EverX Posterior/Essentia bonded with G-Premio Bond; as filling (F) or direct partial crown (DPC) after reducing the cusps 2 mm; indirect adhesive restorations (partial crown/PC vs. full crown/FC): e.max CAD, Celtra Duo, both luted with Variolink Esthetic; indirect zirconia restorations (partial crown/PC vs. full crown/FC), luted with RelyX Unicem 2; indirect non-bonded cast gold restorations (partial crown/PC vs. full crown/FC; Degunorm), luted with Ketac Cem. Before and after 300,000 thermocycles (5/55 °C) and 1.2 Mio. A total of 100 N load cycles, replicas were analyzed under a SEM for marginal quality in enamel and dentin (where applicable) and finally, specimens were loaded until fracture. Results: In direct groups, there was no difference between RC and FRC in fracture strength (p > 0.05); however, direct partial crowns showed higher post-fatigue fracture resistance. Regarding marginal quality, intracoronal FRC restorations exhibited more gap-free margins in enamel than RC. In the indirect groups, there was no significant difference between partial and full crowns in any of the adhesively luted ceramic groups regarding post-fatigue fracture resistance. Zirconia partial crowns exhibited significantly lower marginal quality in enamel. Indirect groups performed significantly better than direct groups in fracture resistance. Within the indirect restorations, both cast gold groups and zirconia full crowns exhibited the highest fracture resistance being superior to control teeth. Significances: Within the limits of this in vitro investigation, it can be concluded that any kind of indirect restoration with cusp replacement is suitable for ETT restoration when a certain cavity extension is exceeded. All indirect restorations, i.e., endocrowns, partial crowns, and full crowns showed a promising performance after in vitro fatigue-loading.

Fracture resistance and marginal gap formation of post-core restorations: influence of different fiber-reinforced composites

Abstract:Objectives: The aim was to explore the fracture behavior and marginal gap within the root canal of endodontically treated (ET) premolars restored with different fiber-reinforced post-core composites (FRCs). Further aim was to evaluate the composite curing at different depths in the canal. Materials and methods: Eighty-seven intact upper premolars were collected and randomly divided into six groups. After endodontic procedure, standard MOD cavities were prepared and restored with their respective fiber-reinforced post-core materials: group 1: prefabricated unidirectional FRC-post + conventional composite core; group 2: prefabricated unidirectional FRC-post + short fiber composite (SFRC) core; group 3: individually formed unidirectional FRC-post + conventional composite core; group 4: randomly oriented SFRC directly layered as post and core; group 5: individually formed unidirectional FRC + randomly oriented SFRC as post and core. After restorations were completed, teeth (n = 3/group) were sectioned and then stained. Specimens were viewed under a stereo microscope and the percentage of microgaps within the root canal was calculated. Fracture load was measured using universal testing machine. Results: SFRC application in the root canal (groups 4 and 5) showed significantly higher fracture load (876.7 N) compared to the other tested groups (512-613 N) (p < 0.05). Post/core restorations made from prefabricated FRC-post (group 1) exhibited the highest number of microgaps (35.1%) at the examined interphase in the root canal. Conclusions: The restoration of ET premolars with the use of SFRC as post-core material displayed promising performance in matter of microgap and load-bearing capacity. Clinical significance: Fracture resistance of ET premolar restored by bilayered composite restoration that includes both SFRC as post-core material and surface conventional resin seems to be beneficial.
Fracture resistance and failure pattern of endodontically treated maxillary premolars restored with transfixed glass fiber post: an in vitro and finite element analysis

Abstract:The aims of the study were to determine the effect of different types of endodontic sealers and the presence of a horizontal glass fiber post (HGFP) on the fracture resistance and fracture pattern of mesio-occluso-distal (MOD) restored upper premolars and to analyze the stress distribution. Sixty extracted upper premolars received root canal treatment (RCT) and a MOD cavity preparation. All MOD cavities were restored with the same composite resin (CR). The 60 teeth were divided randomly into 6 groups ( n = 10); Group1= AH Plus sealer; Group 2= TotalFill BC sealer; Group 3= BioRoot RCS sealer; Group 4= AH plus sealer + HGFP; Group 5= TotalFill BC sealer + HGFP; and, Group 6= Bio Root RCS sealer + HGFP. All specimens were thermocycled and subjected to cyclic loading. Next, the specimens were subjected to a static load using a universal testing machine. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA. Two micro-CTs of the same upper premolar, one without the HGFP and later one with HGFP inserted were made and used to create two finite element (FE) models. For the fracture resistance, two-way ANOVA revealed significant differences for the effect of HGFP ( p = 0.029), but no differences for the effect of root canal sealer type ( p = 0.561). The HGFP groups showed higher restorable fracture compared to groups without HGFP ( p = 0.013). Finite element analysis showed that the inclusion of HGFP reduces stress concentration at the occlusal interface and cervical region. Therefore, it can be concluded that HGFP significantly increased the fracture resistance of endodontically treated upper premolars with MOD cavities and reduced the risk for non-restorable fractures. The FE analysis supports the mechanical test results.

Impact of Access Cavity Design on Fracture Resistance of Endodontically Treated Maxillary First Premolar: In Vitro

Abstract:This study was designed to investigate the impact of access cavity designs on fracture resistance of endodontically treated maxillary first premolars. The study sample consisted of 72 intact maxillary first premolars, randomly divided into six groups (n = 12). A standardized proximal cavity preparation was prepared for all samples using standard bur. Groups I: control group with only standard proximal cavity and no endodontic access, group II: Truss access cavity, group III: Separated access to buccal and palatal canals without removal of dentine in between, group IV: Access to buccal and palatal canals with removal of dentine in between, group V: Traditional access cavity, group VI: Mesio-occlusal-distal cavity (MOD). For groups I and VI, only composite restoration was used to restore the proximal cavity, while for groups II- V, the access was prepared and endodontic treatment was performed on all teeth, then composite restoration was placed. The root canals were instrumented using nickel-titanium files, irrigated with sodium hypochlorite, and filled with AH plus sealer and gutta-percha using warm vertical condensation. All samples were then placed in an acrylic mold and underwent thermal aging for 10,000 cycles between 5 and 55°C. The samples were fixed in a universal testing machine with the long axis of the roots positioned at 20° to a load applied at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min using a stainless steel semi-spherical indenter (Ø = 3 mm) until fracture occurred to determine the fracture resistance force in Newton. The normality test (Shapiro-Wilk) showed that data are normally distributed. Group II exhibited the highest mean fracture resistance, and group VI was the least likely to resist the fracture. No statistically significant differences between tested groups (p-value = 0.237). The MOD group showed a more unfavorable mode of fracture compared to other groups. No significant difference in fracture resistance between conservative and traditional access cavities. The missing marginal ridges, such as in MOD cavities played an important role in decreasing the fracture resistance of endodontically treated teeth.
Influence of Direct Coronal Restoration Materials on the Fracture Resistance of Endodontically Treated Premolars: An In Vitro Study

Abstract:(1) Background: The long-term survival of an endodontically treated tooth depends on a successful root canal treatment as well as an adequate definitive coronal restoration. This study aimed to evaluate the strength of endodontically treated premolars with mesial-occlusal-distal (MOD) cavity preparation restored with different direct coronal restoration materials but from the same manufacturer against fracture. (2) Methods: sixty intact premolars were selected and placed into five groups (n = 12): G1-intact teeth, G2-endodontic treatment and unrestored MOD cavities, G3-endodontic treatment and MOD cavities restored with Tetric PowerFlow and Tetric EvoCeram, G4-endodontic treatment and MOD cavities restored with Multicore Flow and Tetric EvoCeram, and G5-endodontic treatment and MOD cavities restored with Multicore Flow. The specimens were subjected to an axial compression load at a speed of 1.6 mm/min and optically inspected before and after with a stereomicroscope. For each premolars group, the following data were recorded: the compression resistance, the compressive strength, and the maximum force supported. The microstructure of the samples after the compression test was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). (3) Results: statistical analysis (ANOVA and Tukey test) showed that there was a statistically significant difference between G1 and the other groups. Even though there was no statistically significant difference between the restored groups, a better mechanical behavior was registered within the G3. (4) Conclusions: this in vitro study indicated that none of the materials used can lead to a higher or at least similar fracture resistance as the intact teeth. The coronal restoration only with nano-hybrid composites may lead to a higher therapeutic benefit for the fracture-susceptible premolars.

Abstract:A new ruthenium complex with an electron-donating aminoindenyl ligand induces a fast living radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) in the presence of a chloride initiator to give polymers with controlled and variable molecular weights (Mn = 103-105) and very narrow molecular weight distributions (Mw/Mn < 1.1). The structure and high activity of the catalyst were analyzed by X-ray crystallography and cyclic voltammetry in comparison to those of a similar complex with an indenyl ligand.
Fracture Resistance of Endodontically Treated Teeth Restored Using Multifiber Posts Compared with Single Fiber Posts

Abstract:Purpose. The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the fracture resistance and type of failure of two adhesive fiber post systems used to restore endodontically treated teeth. Material and Methods. Twenty-seven extracted premolars were selected and divided into three groups ( n=9 ): a control group restored with direct composite core (group 1), teeth restored with single fiberglass posts (group 2), and teeth were restored with multifiber posts (Biolight Plus System) (group 3). Fracture resistance was measured by applying axial compressive loads parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tooth until failure. Data was analyzed with one-way ANOVA followed by post hoc Turkey tests. Results. The results showed that the mean forces to failure of the control group (0.068 kN) were significantly lower than those restored with either fiberglass post systems ( p=0.013 ). There was no significant difference between the multifiber and the single fiberglass post system in terms of resistance to fracture ( p=0.097 ). Although there are more teeth fractured favorably (above the CEJ) in the Biolight Plus group (77.7%) compared to both the control and fiberglass post groups, it was not statistically significant ( p=0.226 ). Conclusion. Within the limitations of this study, restoring endodontically treated with a multifiber post system is an adequate alternative to single fiberglass post system in terms of resistance to fracture.

Abstract:Aim This study aimed to compare the fracture resistance of different materials used in composite core buildups, including conventional filler composite, nanofiller composite, and short fiber-reinforced composite (SFRC). Methods This in vitro study was conducted on 30 freshly extracted premolars. The teeth were treated using a uniform endodontic procedure, and Fiber Posts (REFORPOST, Angelus) were placed. The teeth were then divided into three groups and restored using different materials. Group 1 was restored using SFRC (everX Posterior, GC, Europe), Group 2 using microfiller composite (Te-Econom Flow, Ivoclar Vivadent), and Group 3 using nanofiller composite (Tetric N-Flow, Ivoclar Vivadent). The restoration materials were then light-cured for 40 seconds. The teeth were placed in a Universal Testing Machine (Instron) and a load was applied with a stainless-steel ball (4 mm diameter) until the tooth fractured. The fracture load for each tooth was recorded, and after the mechanical test, the experimental groups were examined for failure modes. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 21.0 software. A one-way ANOVA test was conducted to compare more than two groups, followed by Tukey's test for post hoc pairwise comparison. Results The mean fracture resistance of the microfiller composite (346.94±44.63) was the lowest among the three groups. When analyzed using Tukey's test at p<0.05, fracture resistance was significantly higher in the SFRC, followed by nanofillers and microfiller composites. Conclusion Due to the increasing demand for aesthetic restorations in recent years, composites have become important in modern restorative dentistry. The development and implementation of composite dental restorative materials rely on a comprehensive understanding of each composite component and consideration of methods for modifying each component. As a result, the findings of this study will be beneficial in determining which material to use based on specific cases.
Finite element and in vitro study on biomechanical behavior of endodontically treated premolars restored with direct or indirect composite restorations

Abstract:Objectives of the study were to investigate biomechanical properties of severely compromised premolars restored with composite restorations using finite element analysis (FEA), and in vitro fracture resistance test. A 3-D model of an endodontically treated premolar was created in Solidworks. Different composite restorations were modelled (direct restoration-DR; endo-crown-EC; post, core, and crown-C) with two different supporting tissues: periodontal ligament/alveolar bone (B), and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). Models were two-point axially loaded occlusally (850 N). Von Mises stresses and strains were calculated. The same groups were further tested for static fracture resistance in vitro (n = 5, 6.0 mm-diameter ball indenter, vertical load). Fracture resistance data were statistically analyzed ( p < 0.050). The highest stresses and strains in all FEA models were observed on occlusal and vestibular cervical surfaces, corresponding to fracture propagation demonstrated in vitro. C showed the lowest stress in dentin, while EC showed lower stresses and strains in crown cement. B models demonstrated larger high stress areas in the root than PMMA models. No significant differences in fracture resistance (N) were observed between groups (DR: 747.7 ± 164.0, EC: 867.3 ± 108.1, C: 866.9 ± 126.3; p = 0.307). More conservative restorations seem a feasible alternative for endodontically treated premolars to conventional post-core-crown.

Materials and methods: Root canals of 60 extracted premolars were prepared to receive #2 fiber posts after the crowns were sectioned 2 mm above the cervical line. In Groups 1-3 (n = 10 each), posts were luted to the prepared dowel spaces using self-adhesive resin cement. Resin composite cores were then bonded and incrementally built-up using Filtek Z250 XT, Filtek P60, and Filtek P90 resin composites. In Groups 4-6 (n = 10 each), the fabricated post-core systems were subjected to post-curing heat and pressure treatment before cementation to their respective teeth using self-adhesive resin cement. Another 10 sound premolars served as control. All teeth in the test and control groups were then subjected to standardized preparation to receive IPS e.max Press crowns before testing their fracture resistance and the mode of restorations' failure. The collected results were statistically analyzed using ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis, and Tukey's tests on the past software used at α = 0.05 to stand on the significance of the detected differences. Results: Significant differences were detected between the fracture resistance of teeth in different groups (ANOVA, P = 2.857E-35). Crowns in Groups 4-6 provided higher fracture resistance than those in Groups 1-3 (Tukey's test, P < 0.05). Crowns in Groups 4 and 6 provided higher fracture resistance than the control, while those in Groups 2 and 3 provided lower fracture resistance than the control (Tukey's test, P < 0.05). Conclusion: Indirect composite cores improved the fracture resistance of IPS e.max Press crowns when compared to directly fabricated post and cores. The directly and indirectly polymerized nanohybrid, methacrylate-based composite (Filtek Z250 XT) cores yielded the highest fracture resistance for the utilized all-ceramic crowns.

Abstract:BACKGROUND:Previous studies show that the fracture resistant force of endodonticaly treated teeth can be improved by post. But this idea has been controversial in recent years. Many scholars believe that the root canal preparation might weaken dental root the post increases the risk of tooth fracture. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the fracture resistance ability of severe wedge-shaped-defect premolar to oblique loading, which was restored with fiber reinforced composite posts by different therapy methods. METHODS:A total of 50 human maxilary premolars were randomly divided into five groups, with ten teeth in each group. They were given folowing treatments: Group A: 10 untreated premolars; Rest 40 premolars of Groups B, C, D and E were prepared 1/3 bucco-lingual distance for artificial severe wedge-shaped defects at the buccal cervix. Group B: untreated severe wedge-shaped defects premolars; Group C: severe wedge-shaped defects premolars were endodonticaly treated, remaining dentin over hang above the wedge shaped defect, LuxaPost posts reinforced in buccal canal and lingual canal, LuxaCore composite resin restored dentin defect; Group D: severe wedge-shaped defects premolars were endodonticaly treated, LuxaPost posts reinforced in buccal canal and lingual canal, LuxaCore composite resin restored dentin defect, and then covered with ful metal crown; Group E: severe wedge-shaped defects premolars were endodonticaly treated, removing dentin over hang above the wedge shaped defect, LuxaPost posts reinforced in buccal canal and lingual canal, restored with LuxaCore composite resin, and then covered with ful metal crown. Fracture resistance of each specimen was measured in each group. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The fracture strength of each group were Group A (1 002.69±147.62) N, Group B (439.28±66.34) N, Group C (958.30±101.23) N, Group D (1 207.09±143.48) N, and Group E (1 056.44±139.30) N. Group D had the highest fracture strength (P < 0.01), while Group B had the lowest fracture strength (P < 0.01). There were no significant difference among the fracture strength of Group A, Group C and Group E. Our findings indicated that the fracture resistance of the severe wedge-shaped defected premolar can be improved by fiber reinforced composite post and dentin above wedge shaped defect remained.

Abstract Aim To evaluate the fracture resistance and fracture patterns of root filled maxillary first premolar teeth (with mesioocclusal cavity preparation) restored with several composite restoration designs. Methodology One hundred extracted sound human maxillary first premolars were randomly divided into five groups. Group 1 remained untreated (negative control). Conventional root canal treatment with additional mesialocclusal cavity preparation was carried out on teeth in groups 25. In group 2, the teeth were restored intra-coronally with direct composite resin (positive control). In group 3, the palatal cusps of the teeth were reduced, and the cavities were restored with composite resin covering the palatal cusp (partial coverage). In group 4, the buccal and palatal cusps along with the distal marginal ridges were reduced; the cavities and cusps were restored with composite resin (conventional full coverage). In group 5, the buccal and palatal cusps were reduced but the distal marginal ridges were conserved. The cavities and the cusps were restored with composite resin (modified full coverage). All teeth were subjected to a progressive compressive loading parallel to their longitudinal axis until fracture. Fracture resistance was analysed using the one-way ANOVA and Fishers LSD test. Fracture patterns were analyzed with chi-square test. The significance level was set at 0.05. Results The fracture resistance (mean +/- SD) of groups 15 was 1131 +/- 207N, 904 +/- 184N, 927 +/- 224N, 1095 +/- 289N and 1085 +/- 243N, respectively (groups 1, 4, 5 > groups 2, 3; P = 0.004). Cusp fractures were recorded as the fracture pattern in 20 (100%), 19 (95%), 16 (80%), 8 (40%) and 12 (60%) premolars in groups 15, respectively (groups 1, 2 > groups 4, 5; group 3 > group 4; P < 0.001). Conclusions When direct composite resin was used to restore root filled maxillary first premolar teeth involving a proximal surface, those restored with full-coverage designs had greater fracture resistance.
