Abstract:We construct a global B-model for any quasi-homogeneous polynomial f that has properties similar to the properties of the physic's B-model on a Calabi-Yau manifold. The main ingredients in our construction are K. Saito's theory of primitive forms and Givental's higher genus reconstruction. More precisely, we consider the moduli space M-mar degrees of the so-called marginal deformations of f . For each point sigma is an element of M-mam degrees mar we introduce the notion of an opposite subspace in the twisted de Rham cohomology of the corresponding singularity f(sigma) and prove that opposite subspaces are in one-to-one correspondence with the splittings of the Hodge structure in the vanishing cohomology of f(sigma). Therefore, according to M. Saito, an opposite subspace gives rise to a semi-simple Frobenius structure on the space of miniversal deformations of f(sigma). Using Givental's higher genus reconstruction we define a total ancestor potential A(sigma) ((h) over bar, q) whose properties can be described quite elegantly in terms of the properties of the corresponding opposite subspace. For example, if the opposite subspace corresponds to the splitting of the Hodge structure given by complex conjugation, then the total ancestor potential is monodromy invariant and it satisfies the BCOV holomorphic anomaly equations. The coefficients of the total ancestor potential could be viewed as quasi-modular forms on M-Mar degrees in a certain generalized sense. As an application of our construction, we consider the case of a Fermat polynomial W that defines a Calabi-Yau hypersurface X-w in a weighted-projective space. We have constructed two opposite subspaces and proved that the corresponding total ancestor potentials can be identified with respectively the total ancestor potential of the orbifold quotient X-W/(G) over tilde (W) and the total ancestor potential of FJRW invariants corresponding to (W, G(W)). Here G(W) is the maximal group of diagonal symmetries of W and (G) over tilde (W) is a quotient of G(W) by the subgroup of those elements that act trivially on X-W. In particular, our result establishes the so-called Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence for the pair (W, G(W)).

Abstract:We extend the quantum geometric tensor from the state space to the operator level,and investigate its properties like the additivity for factorizable models and the splitting of two kinds contributions for the case of stationary reference states. This operator-quantum-geometric tensor (OQGT) is shown to reflect the sensitivity of unitary operations against perturbations of multi parameters. General results for the cases of time evolutions with given stationary reference states are obtained. By this approach, we get exact results for the rotated XY models, and show relations between the OQGT and quantum criticality.
The Witten equation and its virtual fundamental cycle

Abstract:We study a system of nonlinear elliptic PDEs associated with a quasi-homogeneous polynomial. These equations were proposed by Witten as the replacement in the Landau-Ginzburg/singularity setting for the Cauchy-Riemann equation. We introduce a perturbation to the equation and construct a virtual cycle for the moduli space of its solutions. Then, we study the wall-crossing of the deformation of the perturbation and match it to classical Picard-Lefschetz theory. An extended virtual cycle is obtained for the original equation. Finally we prove that the extended virtual cycle satisfies a set of axioms similar to those of Gromov-Witten theory and $r$-spin theory.

Abstract:For any non-degenerate, quasi-homogeneous hypersurface singularity, we describe a family of moduli spaces, a virtual cycle, and a corresponding cohomological field theory associated to the singularity. This theory is analogous to Gromov-Witten theory and generalizes the theory of r-spin curves, which corresponds to the simple singularity A_r-1. We also resolve two outstanding conjectures of Witten. The first conjecture is that ADE-singularities are self-dual; and the second conjecture is that the total potential functions of ADE-singularities satisfy corresponding ADE-integrable hierarchies. Other cases of integrable hierarchies are also discussed.
Quantum intersection numbers and the Gromov-Witten invariants of $\mathbb{CP}^1$

Abstract:The notion of a quantum tau-function for a natural quantization of the KdV hierarchy was introduced in a work of Dubrovin, Guéré, Rossi, and the second author. A certain natural choice of a quantum tau-function was then described by the first author, the coefficients of the logarithm of this series are called the quantum intersection numbers. Because of the Kontsevich-Witten theorem, a part of the quantum intersection numbers coincides with the classical intersection numbers of psi-classes on the moduli spaces of stable algebraic curves. In this paper, we relate the quantum intersection numbers to the stationary relative Gromov-Witten invariants of $(\mathbb{CP}^1,0,\infty)$ with an insertion of a Hodge class. Using the Okounkov-Pandharipande approach to such invariants (with the trivial Hodge class) through the infinite wedge formalism, we then give a short proof of an explicit formula for the ``purely quantum'' part of the quantum intersection numbers, found by the first author, which in particular relates these numbers to the one-part double Hurwitz numbers.

Abstract:We first study the quantum product on the big phase space defined by gravitational Gromov-Witten invariants. We then use this product to give an interpretation for various topological recursion relations and also use it to study the Virasoro conjecture proposed by Eguchi-Hori-Xiong and Katz. We will give a recursive formulation to the Virasoro conjecture and study properties of relevent vector fields, which will be useful in proving and applying the Virasoro conjecture for all genera. In the genus-2 case, we will prove that the genus-2 Virasoro conjecture can be reduced to the $L_{1}$ constraint for any manifold. In the case when the quantum cohomology of the underlying manifold is not too degenerate (in particular, is semisimple) we will prove an explicit formula expressing the generating function of genus-2 Gromov-Witten invariants in terms of genus-0 and genus-1 data. This result reduces the genus-2 Virasoro conjecture to a genus-1 problem for such manifolds.

Abstract:We give a generalization of Goncharov's Hodge correlator twistor connection. Our generalized version is a connection 1-form with values in a DG Lie algebra of uni-trivalent graphs which may have loops and satisfies some Maurer--Cartan equation. This connection and the Maurer--Cartan equation can be viewed as an arithmetic analogue of effective action and quantum master equation respectively in non-acyclic Chern--Simons perturbation theory associated with the trivial local system.

Abstract:We develop a $\mathtt{q}$-analogue of the theory of conjugation equivariant $\mathcal D$-modules on a complex reductive group $G$. In particular, we define quantum Hotta-Kashiwara modules and compute their endomorphism algebras. We use the Schur-Weyl functor of the second author, and develop tools from the corresponding double affine Hecke algebra to study this category in the cases $G=GL_N$ and $SL_N$. Our results also have an interpretation in skein theory (explored further in a sequel paper), namely a computation of the $GL_N$ and $SL_N$-skein algebra of the 2-torus.

Quantum modularity for a closed hyperbolic 3-manifold

Abstract:This paper proves quantum modularity of both functions from $\mathbb{Q}$ and $q$-series associated to the closed manifold obtained by $-1/2$ surgery on the figure-eight knot, $4_1(-1,2)$. In a sense, this is a companion to work of Garoufalidis-Zagier where similar statements were studied in detail for some simple knots. It is shown that quantum modularity for closed manifolds provides a unification of Chen-Yang's volume conjecture with Witten's asymptotic expansion conjecture. Additionally we show that $4_1(-1,2)$ is a counter-example to previous conjectures relating the Witten-Reshetikhin-Turaev invariant and the $\widehat{Z}(q)$ series. This could be reformulated in terms of a "strange identity", which gives a volume conjecture for the $\widehat{Z}$ invariant. Using factorisation of state integrals, we give conjectural but precise $q$-hypergeometric formulae for generating series of Stokes constants of this manifold. We find that the generating series of Stokes constants is related to the 3d index of Dimofte-Gaiotto-Gukov of $4_1(-1,2)$ proposed by Gang-Yonekura. This extends the equivalent conjecture of Garoufalidis-Gu-Mariño for knots to closed manifolds. This work appeared in a similar form in the author's thesis.

Abstract:Given a closed symplectic manifold X , we construct Gromov-Witten-type invariants valued both in (complex) K -theory and in any complex-oriented cohomology theory which is K p ( n )-local for some Morava K -theory K p ( n ). We show that these invariants satisfy a version of the Kontsevich-Manin axioms, extending Givental and Lee's work for the quantum K -theory of complex projective algebraic varieties. In particular, we prove a Gromov-Witten type splitting axiom, and hence define quantum K -theory and quantum -theory as commutative deformations of the corresponding (generalised) cohomology rings of X ; the definition of the quantum product involves the formal group of the underlying cohomology theory. The key geometric input of these results is a construction of global Kuranishi charts for moduli spaces of stable maps of arbitrary genus to X . On the algebraic side, in order to establish a common framework covering both ordinary K -theory and K p ( n )-local theories, we introduce a formalism of 'counting theories' for enumerative invariants on a category of global Kuranishi charts.

Abstract:In the first part of this paper, we introduce the notion of "cyclic stratum" of a Frobenius manifold $M$. This is the set of points of the extended manifold $\mathbb C^*\times M$ at which the unit vector field is a cyclic vector for the isomonodromic system defined by the flatness condition of the extended deformed connection. The study of the geometry of the complement of the cyclic stratum is addressed. We show that at points of the cyclic stratum, the isomonodromic system attached to $M$ can be reduced to a scalar differential equation, called the "master differential equation" of $M$. In the case of Frobenius manifolds coming from Gromov-Witten theory, namely quantum cohomologies of smooth projective varieties, such a construction reproduces the notion of quantum differential equation. In the second part of the paper, we introduce two multilinear transforms, called "Borel-Laplace $(\boldsymbol \alpha,\boldsymbol\beta)$-multitransforms", on spaces of Ribenboim formal power series with exponents and coefficients in an arbitrary finite dimensional $\mathbb C$-algebra $A$. When $A$ is specialized to the cohomology of smooth projective varieties, the integral forms of the Borel-Laplace $(\boldsymbol \alpha,\boldsymbol\beta)$-multitransforms are used in order to rephrase the Quantum Lefschetz Theorem. This leads to explicit Mellin-Barnes integral representations of solutions of the quantum differential equations for a wide class of smooth projective varieties, including Fano complete intersections in projective spaces. In the third and final part of the paper, as an application, we show how to use the new analytic tools, introduced in the previous parts, in order to study the quantum differential equations of Hirzebruch surfaces. This finally leads to the proof of Dubrovin Conjecture for all Hirzebruch surfaces.

Abstract:We found an interesting application of the K-theoretic Heisenberg algebras of Weiqiang Wang to the foundations of permutation equivariant K-theoretic Gromov--Witten theory. We also found an explicit formula for the genus 0 correlators in the permutation equivariant Gromov--Witten theory of the point. In the non-equivariant limit our formula reduces to a well known formula due to Y.P. Lee.

Quantum BCOV theory on Calabi-Yau manifolds and the higher genus B-model

Abstract: Bershadsky-Cecotti-Ooguri-Vafa (BCOV) proposed that the B-model of mirror symmetry should be described by a quantum field theory on a Calabi-Yau variety, which they called the Kodaira-Spenser theory (we call it the BCOV theory). This is the first of three papers in which we construct and analyze the quantum BCOV theory. In this paper, we construct the classical field theory on a Calabi-Yau variety of arbitrary dimension; define what it means to give a quantization; analyze the relation Givental's symplectic formalism for Gromov-Witten theory; prove uniqueness of the quantization on an elliptic curve; and prove the Virasoro constraints on an elliptic curve. The second paper (arXiv:1112.4063) proves that the partition function of the quantum BCOV theory on the elliptic curve is equivalent to the Gromov-Witten theory of the mirror elliptic curve. The third paper, in progress, constructs the quantum BCOV theory on a general Calabi-Yau.

Abstract:This is a survey of motivations, constructions and applications of higher prequantum geometry. In section 1 we highlight the open problem of prequantizing local field theory in a local and gauge invariant way, and we survey how a solution to this problem exists in higher differential geometry. In section 2 we survey examples and problems of interest. In section 3 we survey the abstract cohesive homotopy theory that serves to make all this precise and tractable.

Abstract:We contribute to study the two dimensional chiral conformal field theories that arise from chiral deformations of free theories such as the beta gamma-system, bc-system and chiral bosons. Our method is based on the effective Batalin-Vilkovisky quantization theory. We establish an exact correspondence between renormalized quantum master equations for chiral deformations and Maurer-Cartan equations for the Lie algebra of modes of chiral vertex algebras. The generating functions on the torus are proven to have modular property with mild holomorphic anomaly. As an application, we construct an exact solution of quantum B-model (BCOV theory) in complex one dimension that solves the full higher genus mirror symmetry conjecture on elliptic curves.
