Abstract:This work reviews the classical Darboux theorem for symplectic, presymplectic, and cosymplectic manifolds (which are used to describe regular and singular mechanical systems), and certain cases of multisymplectic manifolds, and extends it in new ways to k-symplectic and k-cosymplectic manifolds (all these structures appear in the geometric formulation of first-order classical field theories). Moreover, we discuss the existence of Darboux theorems for classes of precosymplectic, k-presymplectic, k-precosymplectic, and premultisymplectic manifolds, which are the geometrical structures underlying some kinds of singular field theories. Approaches to Darboux theorems based on flat connections associated with geometric structures are given, while new results on polarisations for (k-)(pre)(co)symplectic structures arise.

Abstract:As a sequel to [Duan-Shu-Yao], we introduce here a category $\mathscr{LC}$ arising from the BGG category $\mathcal{O}$ defined in [Duan-Shu-Yao] for Lie algebras of polynomial vector fields. The objects of $\mathscr{LC}$ are so-called Lie-Cartan modules which admit both Lie-module structure and compatible $R$-module structure ($R$ denotes the corresponding polynomial ring). This terminology is natural, coming from affine connections in differential geometry through which the structure sheaves in topology and the vector fields in geometry are integrated for differential manifolds.

Darboux transformations of spacelike curves in the Lorentz-Minkowski plane

Abstract:This paper concerns (Lorentz-)Darboux transformations in the Lorentz-Minkowski plane $\mathbb{R}^{1,1}$. We use the Penrose diagram for conformal compactification and show some unique properties of Darboux transformations of spacelike curves in $\mathbb{R}^{1,1}$, especially with regard to singularities and blowup. Finally, we make some comments on Darboux transformation of type-changing curves.

Abstract:In this work we study discrete analogues of an exact sequence of vector bundles introduced by M. Atiyah in 1957, associated to any smooth principal $G$-bundle $\pi:Q\rightarrow Q/G$. In the original setting, the splittings of the exact sequence correspond to connections on the principal bundle $\pi$. The discrete analogues that we consider here can be studied in two different categories: the category of fiber bundles with a (chosen) section, FBS, and the category of local Lie groupoids, lLgpdC. In FBS we find a correspondence between a) (semi-local) splittings of the discrete Atiyah sequence (DAS) of $\pi$, b) discrete connections on the same bundle $\pi$, and c) isomorphisms of the DAS with certain fiber product extensions in FBS. We see that the right splittings of the DAS (in FBS) are not necessarily right splittings in lLgpdC: we use this obstruction to define the discrete curvature of a discrete connection. Then, there is a correspondence between the splittings of the DAS in lLgpdC and discrete connections with trivial discrete curvature. We also introduce a semidirect product between (some) local Lie groupoids and prove that there is a correspondence between semidirect product extensions and splittings of the DAS in lLgpdC.

On the geometry of diffeological vector pseudo-bundles and infinite dimensional vector bundles: automorphisms, connections and covariant derivatives

Abstract:We consider here the category of diffeological vector pseudo-bundles, and study a possible extension of classical differential geometric tools on finite dimensional vector bundles, namely, the group of automorphisms, the frame bundle, the space of connection 1-forms and the space of covariant derivatives. Substential distinctions are highlighted in this generalized framework, among which the non-isomorphism between connection 1-forms and covariant derivatives. Applications not only include finite dimensional examples with singularities, but also infinite dimensional vector bundles.

Discrete Vector Bundles with Connection and the Bianchi Identity

Abstract:We develop a combinatorial theory of vector bundles with connection that is natural with respect to appropriate mappings of the base space. The base space is a simplicial complex, the main objects defined are discrete vector bundle valued cochains and the main operators we develop are a discrete exterior covariant derivative and a combinatorial wedge product. Key properties of these operators are demonstrated and it is shown that they are natural with respect to the mappings referred to above. We also formulate a well-behaved definition of metric compatible discrete connections. A characterization is given for when a discrete vector bundle with connection is trivializable or has a trivial lower rank subbundle. This machinery is used to define discrete curvature as linear maps and we show that our formulation satisfies a discrete Bianchi identity. Recently an alternative framework for discrete vector bundles with connection has been given by Christiansen and Hu. We show that our framework reproduces and extends theirs when we apply our constructions on a subdivision of the base simplicial complex.

Torelli theorems for some Steiner bundles

Abstract:A Steiner bundle is a vector bundle on projective space arising as the cokernel of the map defined by a matrix of linear forms. These come up in various geometric settings, and by now they are the subject of a considerable literature. Starting with work of Dolgachev and Kapranov from 1993, several authors have considered the question of whether one can recover from the bundle the geometric data used to construct it. Here we prove such Torelli-type statements for the tautological bundles associated to sufficiently positive divisors on any very ample linear series. In an appendix, we give a new proof of the result of Dolgachev-Kapranov.

Abstract:We show that any continuous $\mathbf{C}$-linear Lie algebra splitting of the symbol map from the Atiyah algebra of a vector bundle on a complex manifold is given by a differential operator of order at most the rank of the bundle plus one. Bundles equipped with such a splitting can be thought of as \emph{infinitesimally equivariant} bundles, and our theorem implies these are, in a certain sense, in a categorical formal neighbourhood of vector bundles with a flat connection.

On Bundles That Admit Fiberwise Hyperbolic Dynamics

Abstract:This paper is devoted to rigidity of smooth bundles which are equipped with fiberwise geometric or dynamical structure. We show that the fiberwise associated sphere bundle to a bundle whose leaves are equipped with (continuously varying) metrics of negative curvature is a topologically trivial bundle when either the base space is simply connected or, more generally, when the bundle is fiber homotopically trivial. We present two very different proofs of this result: a geometric proof and a dynamical proof. We also establish a number of rigidity results for bundles which are equipped with fiberwise Anosov dynamical systems. Finally, we present several examples which show that our results are sharp in certain ways or illustrate necessity of various assumptions.

Abstract:Let V be a hypersurface with an isolated singularity at the origin defined by the holomorphic function f : (C-n, 0) -> (C, 0). The Yau algebra L(V) is defined to be the Lie algebra of derivations of the moduli algebra A(V) := O-n/(f, partial derivative f/partial derivative x(1), ..., partial derivative f/partial derivative x(n)), i.e., L(V) = Der(A(V), A(V)). It is known that L(V) is finite dimensional and its dimension lambda(V) is called the Yau number. We introduced a new Lie algebra L*(V) which was defined to be the Lie algebra of derivations of A*(V) = O-n / (f, partial derivative f/partial derivative x(1), ..., partial derivative f/partial derivative x(n), Det(partial derivative(2)f/partial derivative x(i)partial derivative x(j))(i,j=1, ...,n)), i.e., L* (V) = Der(A*( V), A* (V)). L* (V) is finite dimensional and lambda*( V) is the dimension of L*(V). In this paper we compute the generalized Cartan matrix C(V) and other various invariants arising from the new Lie algebra L* (V) for simple elliptic singularities and simple hypersurface singularities. We use the generalized Cartan matrix to characterize the ADE singularities.

Abstract:A Dirac structure on a vector bundle V is a maximal isotropic subbundle E of the direct sum of V with its dual. We show how to associate to any Dirac structure a Dixmier-Douady bundle A, that is, a Z/2Z-graded bundle of C*-algebras with typical fiber the compact operators on a Hilbert space. The construction has good functorial properties, relative to Morita morphisms of Dixmier-Douady bundles. As applications, we show that the `spin' Dixmier-Douady bundle over a compact, connected Lie group (as constructed by Atiyah-Segal) is multiplicative, and we obtain a canonical `twisted Spin-c-structure' on spaces with group valued moment maps.

On the derivatives of the Liouville currents

Abstract:The Liouville map, introduced by Bonahon, assigns to each point in the Teichmüller space a natural Radon measure on the space of geodesics of the base surface. The Liouville map is real analytic and it even extends to a holomorphic map of a neighborhood of the Teichmüller space in the Quasi-Fuchsian space of an arbitrary conformally hyperbolic Riemann surface. The earthquake paths and by their extension quake-bends, introduced by Thurston, are particularly nice real-analytic and holomorphic paths in the Teichmüller and the Quasi-Fuchsian space, respectively. We find a geometric expression for the derivative of the Liouville map along earthquake paths.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a (-1)-shifted symplectic derived Deligne--Mumford stack. In this paper we introduce the Darboux stack of $X$, parametrizing local presentations of $X$ as a derived critical locus of a function $f$ on a smooth formal scheme $U$. Local invariants such as the Milnor number $\mu_f$, the perverse sheaf of vanishing cycles $\mathsf{P}_{U,f}$ and the category of matrix factorizations $\mathsf{MF}(U,f)$ are naturally defined on the Darboux stack, without ambiguity. The stack of non-degenerate flat quadratic bundles acts on the Darboux stack and our main theorem is the contractibility of the quotient stack when taking a further homotopy quotient identifying isotopic automorphisms. As a corollary we recover the gluing results for vanishing cycles by Brav--Bussi--Dupont--Joyce--Szendr\H oi. In a second part (to appear), we will apply this general mechanism to glue the motives of the locally defined categories of matrix factorizations $\mathsf{MF}(U,f)$ under the prescription of additional orientation data, thus answering positively conjectures by Kontsevich--Soibelman and Toda in motivic Donaldson--Thomas theory.

Abstract:It is shown that any Lie affgebra, that is an algebraic system consisting of an affine space together with a bi-affine bracket satisfying affine versions of the antisymmetry and Jacobi identity, is isomorphic to a Lie algebra together with an element and a specific generalised derivation (in the sense of Leger and Luks, [G.F.\ Leger \& E.M.\ Luks, Generalized derivations of Lie algebras, {\em J.\ Algebra} {\bf 228} (2000), 165--203]). These Lie algebraic data can be taken for the construction of a Lie affgebra or, conversely, they can be uniquely derived for any Lie algebra fibre of the Lie affgebra. The close relationship between Lie affgebras and (enriched by the additional data) Lie algebras can be employed to attempt a classification of the former by the latter. In particular, up to isomorphism, a complex Lie affgebra with a simple Lie algebra fibre $\mathfrak{g}$ is fully determined by a scalar and an element of $\mathfrak{g}$ fixed up to an automorphism of $\mathfrak{g}$, and it can be universally embedded in a trivial extension of $\mathfrak{g}$ by a derivation. The study is illustrated by a number of examples that include all Lie affgebras with one-dimensional, nonabelian two-dimensional, $\mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{l}(2,\mathbb{C})$ and $\mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{o}(3)$ fibres. Extensions of Lie affgebras by cocycles and their relation to cocycle extensions of tangent Lie algebras is briefly discussed too.

Abstract:Suppose $C$ is a smooth projective curve of genus 1 over a perfect field $F$, and $E$ is its Jacobian. In the case that $C$ has no $F$-rational points, so that $C$ and $E$ are not isomorphic, $C$ is an $E$-torsor with a class $\delta(C)\in H^1(\text{Gal}(\bar F/F), E(\bar F))$. Then $\delta(C)$ determines a class $\beta \in \text{Br}(E)/\text{Br}(F)$ and there is a Fourier-Mukai equivalence of derived categories of (twisted) coherent sheaves $\mathcal D(C) \xrightarrow{\cong} \mathcal D(E, \beta^{-1})$. We generalize this result to higher dimensions; namely, we prove it also for torsors over abelian varieties.
