Abstract:When p is greater than 1, any left invariant Pfaffian forms on the simple Lie group SL(2p) are not contact forms. In this paper, we give a contact form on this Lie group which is invariant by the subgroup SO(2p).

Abstract:In this paper, we give discreteness criteria of subgroups of the special linear group on ℚ p or ℂ p in two and higher dimensions. Jørgensen’s inequality gives a necessary condition for a non-elementary group of Möbius transformations to be discrete. We give a version of Jørgensen’s inequality for SL( m ,ℂ p ).

Abstract:We consider a purely algebraic result. Then given a circle or cyclic group of prime order action on a manifold, we will use it to estimate the lower bound of the number of fixed points. We also give an obstruction to the existence of $\mathbb{Z}_p$ action on manifolds with isolated fixed points when $p$ is a prime.

Abstract:We first describe, over a field K of characteristic different from 2, the orbits for the adjoint actions of the Lie groups PGL(2, K) and PSL(2, K) on their Lie algebra sl(2, K). While the former are well known, the latter lead to the resolution of generalised Pell-Fermat equations which characterise the corresponding orbit. The synthetic approach enables to change the base field, and we illustrate this picture over the fields with three and five elements, in relation with the geometry of the tetrahedral and icosahedral groups. While the results may appear familiar, they do not seem to be covered in such generality or detail by the existing literature. We apply this discussion to partition the set of PSL(2, Z)-classes of integral binary quadratic forms into groups of PSL(2, K)-classes. When K = C we obtain the class groups of a given discriminant. Then we provide a complete description of their partition into PSL(2, Q)-classes in terms of Hilbert symbols, and relate this to the partition into genera. The results are classical, but our geometrical approach is of independent interest as it may yield new insights into the geometry of Gauss composition, and unify the picture over function fields. Finally we provide a geometric interpretation in the modular orbifold PSL(2, Z) \ H for when two points or two closed geodesics correspond to PSL(2, K)-equivalent quadratic forms, in terms of hyperbolic distances and angles between those modular cycles. These geometric quantities are related to linking numbers of modular knots. Their distribution properties could be studied using the geometry of the quadratic lattice (sl(2, Z), det) but such investigations are not pursued here.

On contact modulo p L-space covers

Abstract:The purpose of this article is to extend certain results of Roso (2023) which concerned equivariant contact structures on minimal L-spaces to the more general setting of mod p L-spaces. This is achieved by considering the Serre spectral sequence of the Borel Floer cohomology as showcased in Baraglia & Hekmati (2021). Along the way, the author introduces two new numerical invariants of equivariant contact structures which emerge from the structure of the Borel Floer cohomology as a module over the group cohomology.

Abstract: Let $\frak{g}$ be a contact Lie superalgebra of odd type or special contact Lie superalgebra of odd type over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p>3$. In this paper we study non-restricted representations of $\frak{g}$. By using induced Kac modules, we characterize all simple $\frak{g}$-modules with nonsingular or $\Delta$-invertible $p$-characters. We also obtain all simple $\frak{g}$-modules with regular semisimple $p$-characters.

Abstract:Let $\mathfrak q=Lie Q$ be an algebraic Lie algebra of index 1, i.e., a generic $Q$-orbit on $\mathfrak q^*$ has codimension 1. We show that the following conditions are equivalent: $\mathfrak q$ is contact; a generic $Q$-orbit on $\mathfrak q^*$ is not conical; there is a generic stabiliser for the coadjoint action of $\mathfrak q$. In addition, if $\mathfrak q$ is contact, then the subalgebra $S(\mathfrak q)_{\sf si}\subset S(\mathfrak q)$ generated by symmetric semi-invariants of $\mathfrak q$ is a polynomial ring. We study also affine seaweed Lie algebras of type ${\sf A}$ and find some contact as well as non-contact examples among them.

Contactifications: a Lagrangian description of compact Hamiltonian systems

Abstract:If $\eta$ is a contact form on a manifold $M$ such that the orbits of the Reeb vector field form a simple foliation $\mathcal{F}$ on $M$, then the presymplectic 2-form $d\eta$ on $M$ induces a symplectic structure $\omega$ on the quotient manifold $N=M/\mathcal{F}$. We call $(M,\eta)$ a $\textit contactification$ of the symplectic manifold $(N,\omega)$. First, we present an explicit geometric construction of contactifications of some coadjoint orbits of connected Lie groups. Our construction is a far going generalization of the well-known contactification of the complex projective space $\mathbb{C}P^{n-1}$, being the unit sphere $S^{2n-1}$ in $\mathbb{C}^{n}$, and equipped with the restriction of the Liouville 1-form on $\mathbb{C}^n$. Second, we describe a constructive procedure for obtaining contactification in the process of the Marsden-Weinstein-Meyer symplectic reduction and indicate geometric obstructions for the existence of compact contactifications. Third, we show that contactifications provide a nice geometrical tool for a Lagrangian description of Hamiltonian systems on compact symplectic manifolds $(N,\omega)$, on which symplectic forms never admit a `vector potential'.

Abstract:A $(2k+1)-$dimensional Lie algebra is called contact if it admits a one-form $\varphi$ such that $\varphi\wedge(d\varphi)^k\neq 0.$ Here, we extend recent work to describe a combinatorial procedure for generating contact, type-A Lie poset algebras whose associated posets have chains of arbitrary cardinality, and we conjecture that our construction leads to a complete characterization.

Representations of $SL_2(F)$

Abstract:Let $p$ be a prime number, $F $ a non-archimedean local field with residue characteristic $p$, and $R$ an algebraically closed field of characteristic different from $ p$. We thoroughly investigate the irreducible smooth $R$-representations of $SL_2(F)$. The components of an irreducible smooth $R$-representation $\Pi$ of $GL_2(F)$ restricted to $SL_2(F)$ form an $L$-packet $L(\Pi)$. We use the classification of such $\Pi$ to determine the cardinality of $L(\Pi)$, which is $1,2$ or $4$. When $p=2$ we have to use the Langlands correspondence for $GL_2(F)$. When $\ell$ is a prime number distinct from $p$ and $R=\mathbb Q_\ell^{ac}$, we establish the behaviour of an integral $L$-packet under reduction modulo $\ell$. We prove a Langlands correspondence for $SL_2(F)$, and even an enhanced one when the characteristic of $R$ is not $2$. Finally, pursuing a theme of \cite{HV23}, which studied the case of inner forms of $GL_n(F)$, we show that near identity an irreducible smooth R-representation of $SL_2(F)$ is, up to a finite dimensional representation, isomorphic to a sum of $1,2$ or $4$ representations in an $L$-packet of size $4$ (when $p$ is odd there is only one such $L$-packet).

Canonical contact forms on spherical CR manifolds

Abstract:We construct the CR invariant canonical contact form can( J ) on scalar positive spherical CR manifold ( M , J ), which is the CR analogue of canonical metric on locally conformally flat manifold constructed by Habermann and Jost. We also construct another canonical contact form on the Kleinian manifold Ω(Γ)/Γ, where Γ is a convex cocompact subgroup of Aut CR S 2 n +1 = PU ( n +1,1) and Ω(Γ) is the discontinuity domain of Γ. This contact form can be used to prove that Ω(Γ)/Γ is scalar positive (respectively, scalar negative, or scalar vanishing) if and only if the critical exponent δ(Γ)< n (respectively, δ(Γ)> n , or δ(Γ)= n ). This generalizes Nayatani’s result for convex cocompact subgroups of SO ( n +1,1). We also discuss the connected sum of spherical CR manifolds.
Invariant conformal Killing forms on almost abelian Lie groups

Abstract:We describe completely conformal Killing or conformal Killing-Yano (CKY) $p$-forms on almost abelian metric Lie algebras. In particular we prove that if a $n$-dimensional almost abelian metric Lie algebra admits a non-parallel CKY $p$-form, then $p=1$ or $p=n-1$. In other words, any CKY $p$-form on a metric almost abelian Lie algebra is parallel for $2\leq p\leq n-2$. Moreover, we characterize almost abelian Lie algebras admitting non-parallel CKY $p$-forms, and we classify all Lie algebras with this property up to dimension $5$, distinguishing also those cases where the associated simply connected Lie group admits lattices.

Abstract:These notes aim to develop a tool for constructing polynomial differential $p$-forms vanishing on prescribed loci through syzygies of homogeneous ideals. Examples are provided through implementing this method in Macaulay2, particularly examples of instanton bundles of charges $4$ and $5$ on $\mathbb{P}^3$ that arise in this construction.

Abstract:For a given ǫ > 0, we show that there exist two finite index sub- groups of P SL2(Z) which are (1 + ǫ)-quasisymmetrically conjugated and the conjugation homeomorphism is not conformal. This implies that for any ǫ > 0 there are two finite regular covers of the Modular once punctured torus T0 (or just the Modular torus) and a (1 + ǫ)-quasiconformal between them that is not homotopic to a conformal map. As an application of the above results, we show that the orbit of the basepoint in the Teichmuller space T(Sp) of the punctured solenoid Sp under the action of the corresponding Modular group (which is the mapping class group of Sp (5), (6)) has the closure in T(Sp) strictly larger than the orbit and that the closure is necessarily uncountable.

Abstract:A contact singularity is a normal singularity $(V,0)$ together with a holomorphic contact form $\eta$ on $V\backslash$ Sing $V$ in a neighbourhood of 0, i.e. $\eta\wedge (d\eta)^r$ has no zero, where dim $V=2r+1$. The main result of this paper is that there are no isolated contact singularities.

Abstract:Let p be an arbitrary prime number and k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic l different from p. We construct maximal simple k-types of Levi subgroups M' of SLn(F), when F is a non-archimedean locally compact field of residual characteristic p, which is to say that any cuspidal k-representation of M' can be compactly induced from an irreducible k-representation of a compact modulo centre subgroup of M', and we also prove the unicity property of intertwining implies conjugacy for maximal simple k-types, extended maximal simple k-types and simple k-characters of M'.

Abstract:The conjugation representation of a finite group $G$ is the complex permutation module defined by the action of $G$ on itself by conjugation. Addressing a problem raised by Hain motivated by the study of a Hecke action on iterated Shimura integrals, Tiep proved that for $G=\operatorname{SL}_{2}(\mathbb{Z}/p^{r})$, where $r\geq1$ and $p\geq5$ is a prime, any irreducible representation of $G$ that is trivial on the centre of $G$ is contained in the conjugation representation. Moreover, Tiep asked whether this can be generalised to $p=2$ or $3$. We answer the Hain--Tiep question in the affirmative and also prove analogous statements for $\operatorname{SL}_{2}$ and $\operatorname{GL}_{2}$ over any finite local principal ideal ring with residue field of odd characteristic.

Abstract:We study integrability of generalized almost contact structures, and find conditions under which the main associated maximal isotropic vector bundles form Lie bialgebroids. These conditions differentiate the concept of generalized contact structures from a counterpart of generalized complex structures on odd-dimensional manifolds. We name the latter strong generalized contact structures. Using a Boothby-Wang construction bridging symplectic structures and contact structures, we find examples to demonstrate that, within the category of generalized contact structures, classical contact structures have non-trivial deformations. Using deformation theory of Lie bialgebroids, we construct new families of strong generalized contact structures on the three-dimensional Heisenberg group and its co-compact quotients.

Contact posets and (nonadditive) contact semilattices have the superamalgamation property, Fra\"ıssé limits and model completion. Abstract:A differential 1-form $\alpha$ on a manifold of odd dimension $2n+1$, which satisfies the contact condition $\alpha \wedge (d\alpha)^n \neq 0$ almost everywhere, but which vanishes at a point $O$, i.e. $\alpha (O) = 0$, is called a \textit{singular contact form} at $O$. The aim of this paper is to study local normal forms (formal, analytic and smooth) of such singular contact forms. Our study leads naturally to the study of normal forms of singular primitive 1-forms of a symplectic form $\omega$ in dimension $2n$, i.e. differential 1-forms $\gamma$ which vanish at a point and such that $d\gamma = \omega$, and their corresponding conformal vector fields. Our results are an extension and improvement of previous results obtained by other authors, in particular Lychagin \cite{Lychagin-1stOrder1975}, Webster \cite{Webster-1stOrder1987} and Zhitomirskii \cite{Zhito-1Form1986,Zhito-1Form1992}. We make use of both the classical normalization techniques and the toric approach to the normalization problem for dynamical systems \cite{Zung_Birkhoff2005, Zung_Integrable2016, Zung_AA2018}.
