Abstract:These notes aim to develop a tool for constructing polynomial differential $p$-forms vanishing on prescribed loci through syzygies of homogeneous ideals. Examples are provided through implementing this method in Macaulay2, particularly examples of instanton bundles of charges $4$ and $5$ on $\mathbb{P}^3$ that arise in this construction.

Abstract:A complex Monge-Ampère equation for differential $(p,p)$ forms is introduced on compact Kähler manifolds. For any $1 \leq p < n$, we show the existence of smooth solutions unique up to adding constants. For $p=1$, this corresponds to the Calabi-Yau theorem proved by S. T. Yau, and for $p=n-1$, this gives the Monge-Ampère equation for $(n-1)$ plurisubharmonic functions solved by Tosatti-Weinkove. For other $p$ values, this defines a non-linear PDE that falls outside of the general framework of Caffarelli-Nirenberg-Spruck. Further, we define a geometric flow for higher-order forms that preserves their cohomology classes, and extends the Kähler-Ricci flow naturally to $(p,p)$ forms. As a consequence of our main theorem, we show that this flow exists in a maximal time interval and can be shown to converge under some assumptions. A modified flow is introduced in order to study the evolution of Hodge classes of $M$ with respect to the rational span of Chern classes of holomoprhic vector bundles. The convergence of the associated normalized flow is shown and some potential applications are discussed.

Abstract:Let $\Bbb F_q$ be a finite field with $\text{char}\,\Bbb F_q=p$ and $n>0$ an integer with $\text{gcd}(n, \log_pq)=1$. Let $(\ )^*:\Bbb F_q({\tt x}_0,\dots,{\tt x}_{n-1})\to\Bbb F_q({\tt x}_0,\dots,{\tt x}_{n-1})$ be the $\Bbb F_q$-monomorphism defined by ${\tt x}_i^*={\tt x}_{i+1}$ for $0\le i< n-1$ and ${\tt x}_{n-1}^*={\tt x}_0^q$. For $f,g\in\Bbb F_q({\tt x}_0,\dots,{\tt x}_{n-1})\setminus\Bbb F_q$, define $f\circ g=f(g,g^*,\dots,g^{(n-1)*})$. Then $(\Bbb F_q({\tt x}_0,\dots,{\tt x}_{n-1})\setminus\Bbb F_q,\,\circ)$ is a monoid whose invertible elements are called global $\mathcal P$-forms. Global $\mathcal P$-forms were first introduced by H. Dobbertin in 2001 with $q=2$ to study certain type of permutation polynomials of $\Bbb F_{2^m}$ with $\text{gcd}(m,n)=1$; global $\mathcal P$-forms with $q=p$ for an arbitrary prime $p$ were considered by W. More in 2005. In this paper, we discuss some fundamental questions about global $\mathcal P$-forms, some of which are answered and others remain open.

Holomorphic differential forms on moduli spaces of stable curves

Abstract:We prove that the space of holomorphic $p$-forms on the moduli space $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{g,n}$ of stable curves of genus $g$ with $n$ marked points vanishes for $p=14, 16, 18$ unconditionally and also for $p=20$ under a natural assumption in the case $g=3$. This result is consistent with the Langlands program and it is obtained by applying the Arbarello-Cornalba inductive approach to the cohomology of moduli spaces.

Abstract:We introduce a new family of real analytic modular forms on the upper half plane. They are arguably the simplest class of `mixed' versions of modular forms of level one and are constructed out of real and imaginary parts of iterated integrals of holomorphic Eisenstein series. They form an algebra of functions satisfying many properties analogous to classical holomorphic modular forms. In particular, they admit expansions in $q, \overline{q}$ and $\log |q|$ involving only rational numbers and single-valued multiple zeta values. The first non-trivial functions in this class are real analytic Eisenstein series.

Abstract:For a quasilinear $p$-form defined over a field $F$ of characteristic $p>0$, we prove that its defect over the field $F(\sqrt[p^{n_1}]{a_1}, \dots, \sqrt[p^{n_r}]{a_r})$ equals to its defect over the field $F(\sqrt[p]{a_1}, \dots, \sqrt[p]{a_r})$, strengthening a result of Hoffmann from 2004. We also compute the full splitting pattern of some families of quasilinear $p$-forms.

Twisted Triple Product $p$-adic $L$-function for Finite Slope Families of Hilbert Modular Forms

Abstract:Let $L$ be a totally real field, and $p$ be a rational prime that is unramified in $L$. We construct overconvergent families of classes of relative de Rham cohomology of the universal abelian scheme over Hilbert modular varieties associated to $L$. We show that these classes come equipped with Gauss-Manin connection. We prove convergence for $p$-adic iteration of this connection, improving upon a technique due to Andreatta-Iovita. We use this to construct a $p$-adic twisted triple product $L$-function associated to finite slope families of Hilbert modular forms, extending work of Blanco-Chacon-Fornea for Hida families.

Abstract:In the present paper, we constructed the $p$-adic $L$-function of Bianchi modular form. Also we proved that the first homology groups are generated by the special Bianchi modular symbols. As a corollary, the $\mu$-invariant of some isotopic component of the $p$-adic $L$-function vanishes for Bianchi newforms and a positive proportion of ordinary primes. Also we obtain the residual non-vanishing result of the integral $L$-values.

A Geometric Realization of Partially-Symmetric Macdonald Polynomials

Abstract:We formulate a precise conjecture relating integral form partially-symmetric Macdonald polynomials and the parabolic flag Hilbert schemes of Carlsson, Gorsky, and Mellit. This extends, in an explicit fashion, Haiman's realization of modified Macdonald symmetric functions via Hilbert schemes of points in the plane. As evidence for our conjecture we prove that it is compatible with the action of certain elements in Carlsson and Mellit's algebra $\mathbb{A}_{t,q}$, including degree $1$ Pieri formulas.

Abstract: Building on foundations introduced in a previous paper, we give several p-adic analytic descriptions of the categories of etale Zp-local systems and etale Qp-local systems on an affinoid algebra over a finite extension of Qp (or more generally, over the fraction field of the Witt vectors of a perfect field of characteristic p). These include generalizations of Fontaine's theory of (phi, Gamma)-modules, the refinement of Fontaine's construction introduced by Cherbonnier and Colmez, and a recent description by Fargues and Fontaine in terms of semistable vector bundles on a certain scheme. Our descriptions depend on the embedding of the associated affinoid space into an affine toric variety, but there are natural functoriality maps relating the constructions for different choices of the embedding; these may be used to give analogous descriptions over more general rigid or Berkovich analytic spaces.
Overconvergent Hilbert modular forms via perfectoid modular varieties

Abstract:We give a new construction of $p$-adic overconvergent Hilbert modular forms by using Scholze's perfectoid Shimura varieties at infinite level and the Hodge--Tate period map. The definition is analytic, closely resembling that of complex Hilbert modular forms as holomorphic functions satisfying a transformation property under congruence subgroups. As a special case, we first revisit the case of elliptic modular forms, extending recent work of Chojecki, Hansen and Johansson. We then construct sheaves of geometric Hilbert modular forms, as well as subsheaves of integral modular forms, and vary our definitions in $p$-adic families. We show that the resulting spaces are isomorphic as Hecke modules to earlier constructions of Andreatta, Iovita and Pilloni. Finally, we give a new direct construction of sheaves of arithmetic Hilbert modular forms, and compare this to the construction via descent from the geometric case.

Abstract:For differential operators of Calabi-Yau type, Candelas, de la Ossa and van Straten conjecture the appearance of $p$-adic zeta values in the matrix entries of their $p$-adic Frobenius structure expressed in the standard basis of solutions near a MUM-point. We prove that this phenomenon holds for simplicial and hyperoctahedral families of Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces in $n$ dimensions, in which case the Frobenius matrix entries are rational linear combinations of products of $\zeta_p(k)$ with $1 < k < n$.

Abstract:We show Poincaré Duality for $\mathbf{F}_p$-étale cohomology of a smooth proper rigid-analytic space over a non-archimedean field $K$ of mixed characteristic $(0, p)$. It positively answers the question raised by P. Scholze in [Sch13a]. We prove duality via constructing Faltings' trace map relating Poincaré Duality on the generic fiber to (almost) Grothendieck Duality on the mod-$p$ fiber of a formal model. We also formally deduce Poincaré Duality for $\mathbf{Z}/p^n\mathbf{Z}$, $\mathbf{Z}_p$, and $\mathbf{Q}_p$-coefficients.

Abstract:We study $p$-adic manifolds associated with twisted points of quotient stacks $\mathcal{X} = [U/G]$ and their quotient spaces $\pi:\mathcal{X} \to X$. We prove several structural results about the fibres of $\pi$ and derive in particular a formula expressing $p$-adic integrals on $X$ in terms of the cyclotomic inertia stack of $\mathcal{X}$, generalizing the orbifold formula for Deligne-Mumford stacks. We then apply our formalism to moduli stacks of $1$-dimensional sheaves on del Pezzo surfaces and show that their refined BPS-invariants are computed locally on the coarse moduli space by a $p$-adic integral. As a consequence we recover the $\chi$-independence of these invariants previously proven by Maulik-Shen. Along the way we derive a new formula for the plethystic logarithm on the $\lambda$-ring of functions on $k$-linear stacks, which might be of independent interest.

Abstract:Reformulations of Donaldson's "tamed to compatible" question are obtained in terms of spaces of exact forms on a compact almost complex manifold $(M^{2n},J)$. In dimension 4, we show that $J$ admits a compatible symplectic form if and only if $J$ admits tamed symplectic forms with arbitrarily given $J$-anti-invariant parts. Some observations about the cohomology of $J$-modified de Rham complexes are also made.

On $p$-refined Friedberg-Jacquet integrals and the classical symplectic locus in the $\mathrm{GL}_{2n}$ eigenvariety

Abstract:Friedberg--Jacquet proved that if $\pi$ is a cuspidal automorphic representation of $\mathrm{GL}_{2n}(\mathbb{A})$, $\pi$ is a functorial transfer from $\mathrm{GSpin}_{2n+1}$ if and only if a global zeta integral $Z_H$ over $H = \mathrm{GL}_n \times \mathrm{GL}_n$ is non-vanishing on $\pi$. We conjecture a $p$-refined analogue: that any $P$-parahoric $p$-refinement $\tilde\pi^P$ is a functorial transfer from $\mathrm{GSpin}_{2n+1}$ if and only if a $P$-twisted version of $Z_H$ is non-vanishing on the $\tilde\pi^P$-eigenspace in $\pi$. This twisted $Z_H$ appears in all constructions of $p$-adic $L$-functions via Shalika models. We prove various results towards the conjecture by connecting it to the study of classical symplectic families in the $\mathrm{GL}_{2n}$ eigenvariety. If $\pi$ is spherical at $p$, there are $(2n)!$ attached $p$-refinements to Iwahori level; we conjecture the dimensions of such families through each of these, prove the upper bound unconditionally, and (by constructing the families) prove the lower bound under a non-critical slope assumption. For example, for $\mathrm{GL}_4$, we conjecture that (modulo 1-dimensional trivial variation) 8 refinements vary in 2-dimensional symplectic families, 8 in 1-dimensional symplectic families, and prove 8 do not vary in any symplectic family.

An introduction to $p$-adic $L$-functions

Abstract:These expository notes introduce $p$-adic $L$-functions and the foundations of Iwasawa theory. We focus on Kubota--Leopoldt's $p$-adic analogue of the Riemann zeta function, which we describe in three different ways. We first present a measure-theoretic (analytic) $p$-adic interpolation of special values of the Riemann zeta function. Next, we describe Coleman's (arithmetic) construction via cyclotomic units. Finally, we examine Iwasawa's (algebraic) construction via Galois modules over the Iwasawa algebra. The Iwasawa Main conjecture, now a theorem due to Mazur and Wiles, says that these constructions agree. We will state the conjecture precisely, and give a proof when $p$ is a Vandiver prime (which conjecturally covers every prime). Throughout, we discuss generalisations of these constructions and their connections to modern research directions in number theory.

Critical Lambda-adic modular forms and bi-ordinary complexes

Abstract:We produce a flat $\Lambda$-module of $\Lambda$-adic critical slope overconvergent modular forms, producing a Hida-type theory that interpolates such forms over $p$-adically varying integer weights. This provides a Hida-theoretic explanation for an observation of Coleman that the rank of such forms is locally constant in the weight. The key to the interpolation is to use Coleman's presentation of de Rham cohomology in terms of overconvergent forms to link critical slope overconvergent modular forms with the ordinary part of 1st coherent cohomology of modular curves interpolated by Boxer--Pilloni's higher Hida theory. We also set up a Galois deformation theory designed to conform to these critical overconvergent forms and prove "$R = T$" for it. As applications, we (1) produce a "formal" $\Lambda$-adic interpolation of the ordinary part of de Rham cohomology, (2) produce a bi-ordinary complex whose Hecke algebra $T$ is a natural candidate for an "$R = T$" theorem where $R$ is a deformation ring for 2-dimensional $p$-adic representations of ${\rm Gal}(\bar{\bf Q}/{\bf Q})$ that become reducible and decomposable upon restriction to a decomposition group at $p$, (3) produce a degree-shifting Hecke action on the cohomology of the bi-ordinary complex, and (4) specialize this degree-shifting action to weight 1 and apply the critical "$R = T$" theorem to find, under a supplemental assumption, an action of a Stark unit on the part of weight 1 coherent cohomology over ${\bf Z}_p$ that is isotypic for an ordinary eigenform with complex multiplication.

$p$-adic $L$-functions for $P$-ordinary Hida families on unitary groups

Abstract:We construct a $p$-adic $L$-function for $P$-ordinary Hida families of cuspidal automorphic representations on a unitary group $G$. The main new idea of our work is to incorporate the theory of Schneider-Zink types for the Levi quotient of $P$, to allow for the possibility of higher ramification at primes dividing $p$, into the study of ($p$-adic) modular forms and automorphic representations on $G$. For instance, we describe the local structure of such a $P$-ordinary automorphic representation $\pi$ at $p$ using these types, allowing us to analyze the geometry of $P$-ordinary Hida families. Furthermore, these types play a crucial role in the construction of certain Siegel Eisenstein series designed to be compatible with such Hida families in two specific ways : Their Fourier coefficients can be $p$-adically interpolated into a $p$-adic Eisenstein measure on $d+1$ variables and, via the doubling method of Garrett and Piatetski--Shapiro-Rallis, the corresponding zeta integrals yield special values of standard $L$-functions. Here, $d$ is the rank of the Levi quotient of $P$. Lastly, the doubling method is reinterpreted algebraically as a pairing between modular forms on $G$, whose nebentype are types, and viewed as the evaluation of our $p$-adic $L$-function at classical points of a $P$-ordinary Hida family.

A $p$-Adic 6-Functor Formalism in Rigid-Analytic Geometry

Abstract:We develop a full 6-functor formalism for $p$-torsion \'etale sheaves in rigid-analytic geometry. More concretely, we use the recently developed condensed mathematics by Clausen--Scholze to associate to every small v-stack (e.g. rigid-analytic variety) $X$ with pseudouniformizer $\pi$ an $\infty$-category $\mathcal D^a_\square(\mathcal O^+_X/\pi)$ of "derived quasicoherent complete topological $\mathcal O^+_X/\pi$-modules" on $X$. We then construct the six functors $\otimes$, $\underline{Hom}$, $f^*$, $f_*$, $f_!$ and $f^!$ in this setting and show that they satisfy all the expected compatibilities, similar to the $\ell$-adic case. By introducing $\varphi$-module structures and proving a version of the $p$-torsion Riemann-Hilbert correspondence we relate $\mathcal O^+_X/\pi$-sheaves to $\mathbb F_p$-sheaves. As a special case of this formalism we prove Poincar\'e duality for $\mathbb F_p$-cohomology on rigid-analytic varieties. In the process of constructing $\mathcal D^a_\square(\mathcal O^+_X/\pi)$ we also develop a general descent formalism for condensed modules over condensed rings.
