Abstract:We investigate the commuting automorphisms of nilpotent Lie algebras $L$ with coclass $\leq 3$. Our examination exposes the conditions under which the set of commuting automorphisms of $L$ forms a subgroup within its automorphism group.

Abstract:Journal of Algebra and Its Applications, Ahead of Print. Let [math] be a group. If the set [math] forms a subgroup of [math], then G is called [math]-group. Recently, it has been proven that the minimum coclass of a non-[math][math]-group is equal to [math]. In this paper, we deal with finite [math]-groups of coclass [math]. We prove that a finite [math]-group [math] of order [math], [math], of coclass [math] for an odd prime [math] is an [math]-group except when the nilpotency class of the second term of upper central series [math], [math], is equal to [math]. In particular, we show that in this case, center of [math], [math], and commutator subgroup [math], [math], are of order [math] and [math], respectively, and [math] is a group of order [math]. Also, we give some sufficient conditions on a finite 2-group [math] of coclass [math] implying that [math] is an [math]-group.

We show that the subgroup of [math] generated by the tame automorphisms and a countably infinite set of explicitly given automorphisms of [math] is dense in [math] with respect to the formal power series topology.

Abstract:We show that for a given nilpotent Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ with $Z(\mathfrak{g})\subseteq [\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{g}]$ all commutative post-Lie algebra structures, or CPA-structures, on $\mathfrak{g}$ are complete. This means that all left and all right multiplication operators in the algebra are nilpotent. Then we study CPA-structures on free-nilpotent Lie algebras $F_{g,c}$ and discover a strong relationship to solving systems of linear equations of type $[x,u]+[y,v]=0$ for generator pairs $x,y\in F_{g,c}$. We use results of Remeslennikov and Stöhr concerning these equations to prove that, for certain $g$ and $c$, the free-nilpotent Lie algebra $F_{g,c}$ has only central CPA-structures.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{L}$ be a finite-dimensional semisimple Lie algebra of rank $N$ over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $0$. Associated to $\mathcal{L}$ is a family of polynomial folding maps $$\textsf{F}_{n}:\mathbb{A}^N\to\mathbb{A}^N\quad\text{for}\quad n\ge1$$ having the property that $\textsf{F}_{n}$ has topological degree $n^N$ and $$\textsf{F}_{m}\circ\textsf{F}_{n}=\textsf{F}_{n}\circ\textsf{F}_{m}\quad\text{for all}\quad m,n\ge1.$$ We derive formulas for the leading terms of the folding maps on $\mathbb{A}^2$ associated to the Lie algebras $\mathcal{A}_2$, $\mathcal{B}_2$, and $\mathcal{G}_2$, and we use these formulas to compute the affine automorphism group of each folding map.

Abstract:Evidences have suggested that counting representations are sometimes tractable even when the corresponding classification problem is almost impossible, or "wild" in a precise sense. Such counting problems are directly related to matrix counting problems, many of which are under active research. Using a general framework we formulate for such counting problems, we reduce some counting problems about commuting matries to problems about endomorphisms on all finite abelian $p$-groups. As an application, we count finite modules on some first examples of nonreduced curves over $\mathbb{F}_q$. We also relate some classical and hard problems regarding commuting triples of matrices to a conjecture of Onn on counting conjugacy classes of the automorphism group of an arbitrary finite abelian $p$-group.

Abstract:We study the homotopy type of spaces of commuting elements in connected nilpotent Lie groups, via almost commuting elements in their Lie algebras. We give a necessary and sufficient condition on the fundamental group of such a Lie group $G$ to ensure $\mathrm{Hom}(\mathbb{Z}^k,G)$ is path-connected. In particular for the reduced upper unitriangular groups and the reduced generalized Heisenberg groups, $\mathrm{Hom}(\mathbb{Z}^k,G)$ is not path-connected, and we compute the homotopy type of its path-connected components in terms of Stiefel manifolds and the maximal torus of $G$.

Abstract:In this paper, we first recall the concept of c-nilpotent multiplier and c-capability of n-Lie algebras and also, recall the formula for calculating the number of basic commutators in n-Lie algebras. Then we give the structure of 2-nilpotent multiplier of the direct sum of two n-Lie algebras. Next, we calculate the dimension of 2-nilpotent multiplier of every abelian n-Lie algebras and Heisenberg n-Lie algebras H(n,m). Then we give a dimension of 2-nilpotent multiplier of any nilpotent n-Lie algebras of class 2 by using the number of basic commutators.

Abstract:Let G be a nilpotent π-group of finite rank,α and β be two automorphisms of G.Suppose that 1 = ζ0G < ζ1G < ··· < ζcG = G is the upper central series of G,and αi and βi are the automorphisms of ζiG/ζi-1G induced by α and β,respectively.If Im(αiβi-βiαi) is either a cyclic group or T ♁ D,where T is a cyclic group and D is a divisible group of rank 1,then <α,β> is NAF-.In particular,if α and β are two π'-automorphisms of G,then(i) in the case Im(αiβi-βiαi) is cyclic,<α,β> is an extension of a finite nilpotent π-group by a finite abelian π'-group;(ii) in the case Im(αiβi-βiαi) is either a cyclic group or T ♁ D,<α,β> is a residually finite π ∪ π'-group and is a(finitely-generated torsion-free nilpotent group)by-(finite nilpotent π-group)-by-(finite abelian π'-group).In addition,we investigate the dual problem for the lower central series of G and obtain the dual results.

Abstract:We study the quotient Qi(A) of a free algebra A by the ideal Mi(A) generated by the ith commutator of any elements. In particular, we completely describe such quotient for i=4 (for i⩽3 this was done previously by Feigin and Shoikhet). We also study properties of the ideals Mi(A), e.g. when Mi(A)Mj(A) is contained in Mi+j−1(A) (by a result of Gupta and Levin, it is always contained in Mi+j−2(A)).

Abstract:Given a simply connected solvable Lie group $G$, there always exists NIL-affine action $\rho: G \to \operatorname{Aff}(H)$ on a nilpotent Lie group $H$ such that $G$ acts simply transitively. The question whether this is always possible for $H = \mathbb{R}^n$ abelian was known as Milnor's question, with a negative answer due to a counterexample of Benoist. This counterexample is based on a correspondence between certain affine actions $\rho: G \to \operatorname{Aff}(\mathbb R^n)$ and left-symmetric structures on the corresponding Lie algebra $\mathfrak g$ of $G$, where simply transitive actions correspond exactly to the so-called complete left-symmetric structures. In general however, the question remains open which solvable Lie groups $G$ can act on which nilpotent Lie groups $H$.

Abstract:Let $L$ be an algebra over a field $F$ with the binary operations $+$ and $[,]$. Then $L$ is called a left Leibniz algebra if it satisfies the left Leibniz identity: $[[a,b],c]=[a,[b,c]]-[b,[a,c]]$ for all elements $a,b,c\in L$. A linear transformation $f$ of $L$ is called an endomorphism of $L$, if $f([a,b])=[f(a),f(b)]$ for all elements $a,b\in L$. A bijective endomorphism of $L$ is called an automorphism of $L$. It is easy to show that the set of all automorphisms of the Leibniz algebra is a group with respect to the operation of multiplication of automorphisms. The description of the structure of the automorphism groups of Leibniz algebras is one of the natural and important problems of the general Leibniz algebra theory. The main goal of this article is to describe the structure of the automorphism group of a certain type of nilpotent three-dimensional Leibniz algebras.

Abstract:We show that a $PL_{\infty}$-algebra $V$ can be described by a nilpotent coderivation of degree $-1$ on coalgebra $P^*V$. Based on this result, we can generalise the result of T. Lada and show that every $A_{\infty}$-algebra carries a $PL_{\infty}$-algebra structure and every $PL_{\infty}$-algebra carries an $L_{\infty}$-algebra structure. In particular, we obtain a pre Lie $n$-algebra structure on an arbitrary partially associative $n$-algebra and deduce pre Lie $n$-algebras are $n$-Lie admissible.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a unified description of morphisms and comorphisms of $n$-Lie-Rinehart algebras. We show that these morphisms and comorphisms can be regarded as two subalgebras of the $\psi$-sum of $n$-Lie-Rinehart algebras. We also provide similar descriptions for morphisms and comorphisms of $n$-Lie algebroids. It is proved that the category of vector bundles with Nambu-Poisson structures of rank $n$ and the category of their dual bundles with $n$-Lie algebroid structures of rank $n$ are equivalent to each other.

Abstract:Let $\rho$ be an algebraic action of the additive group $\mathbb{C}^+$ on the three-dimensional affine space $\mathbb{C}^3$. We describe the group $\textrm{Cent}(\rho)$ of polynomial automorphisms of $\mathbb{C}^3$ that commute with $\rho$. A particular emphasis lies in the description of the automorphisms in $\textrm{Cent}(\rho)$ coming from algebraic $\mathbb{C}^+$-actions. As an application we prove that the automorphisms in $\textrm{Cent}(\rho)$ that are the identity on the algebraic quotient of $\rho$ form a characteristic subgroup of $\textrm{Cent}(\rho)$.

Abstract:Let $\pi$ be a discrete group, and let $G$ be a compact connected Lie group. Then there is a map $\Theta\colon\mathrm{Hom}(\pi,G)_0\to\mathrm{map}_*(B\pi,BG)_0$ between the null-components of the spaces of homomorphism and based maps, which sends a homomorphism to the induced map between classifying spaces. Atiyah and Bott studied this map for $\pi$ a surface group, and showed that it is surjective in rational cohomology. In this paper, we prove that the map $\Theta$ is surjective in rational cohomology for $\pi=\mathbb{Z}^m$ and the classical group $G$ except for $SO(2n)$, and that it is not surjective for $\pi=\mathbb{Z}^m$ with $m\ge 3$ and $G=SO(2n)$ with $n\ge 4$. As an application, we consider the surjectivity of the map $\Theta$ in rational cohomology for $\pi$ a finitely generated nilpotent group. We also consider the dimension of the cokernel of the map $\Theta$ in rational homotopy groups for $\pi=\mathbb{Z}^m$ and the classical groups $G$ except for $SO(2n)$.
