Abstract:In this paper, we establish an interior $C^2$ estimate for the Hessian quotient equation $\left(\frac{\sigma_3}{\sigma_1}\right)(D^2u)=f$ in dimension three. A crucial ingredient in our proof is a Jacobi inequality.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the interior $C^2$ regularity problem for the Hessian quotient equation $\left(\frac{\sigma_n}{\sigma_k}\right)(D^2u)=f$. We give a complete answer to this longstanding problem: for $k=n-1,n-2$, we establish an interior $C^2$ estimate; for $k\leq n-3$, we show that interior $C^2$ estimate fails by finding a singular solution.

Abstract:We establish interior $C^2$ estimates for convex solutions of scalar curvature equation and $\sigma_2$-Hessian equation. We also prove interior curvature estimate for isometrically immersed hypersurfaces $(M^n,g)\subset \mathbb R^{n+1}$ with positive scalar curvature. These estimates are consequences of an interior estimate for these equations obtained under a weakened condition.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish the existence and uniqueness theorem for solutions of the exterior Dirichlet problem for Hessian quotient equations with prescribed asymptotic behavior at infinity. This extends the previous related results on the Monge–Ampère equations and on the Hessian equations, and rearranges them in a systematic way. Based on the Perron's method, the main ingredient of this paper is to construct some appropriate subsolutions of the Hessian quotient equation, which is realized by introducing some new quantities about the elementary symmetric polynomials and using them to analyze the corresponding ordinary differential equation related to the generalized radially symmetric subsolutions of the original equation.

Abstract:We derive a concavity inequality for $k$-Hessian operators under the semi-convexity condition. As an application, we establish interior estimates for semi-convex solutions of the $k$-Hessian equations with vanishing Dirichlet boundary and obtain a Liouville-type result. Additionally, we provide new and simple proofs of Guan-Ren-Wang's results on global curvature estimates for $k$-curvature equations.

Abstract:We prove a priori interior curvature estimates for hypersurfaces of prescribing scalar curvature equations in dimension three. The method is motivated by the integral method of Warren and Yuan. The new observation here is that the "Lagrangian" submanifold constructed similarly as Harvey and Lawson has bounded mean curvature if the graph function of a hypersurface satisfies the scalar curvature equation.

Abstract:We develop an integral approach to obtain interior a priori $C^{1,1}$ estimates for convex solutions of prescribing scalar curvature equations $\sigma_2(\kappa) = f(x)$ as well as the Hessian equations $\sigma_2(D^2u) = f(x)$. This new approach can deal with the case when $f$ is of weaker regularity. As a result, we prove that the $C^{1,1}$ modules of the solutions depend only on the Lipschitz modules of $f(x)$, instead of the $\|f\|_{C^k}$ for some $k\geq 2$ in all the papers we have known up to now.

Abstract:In this paper, we develop a new strategy to study Lagrangain mean curvature equation on open sets of $\mathbb{R}^{n}(n\geq2)$. By establishing an Allard-type regularity theorem, we obtain an interior Hessian estimate of solutions to this equation with prescribed Lipschitz critical and supercritical phases. Here, our condition on the phases is sharp. The proof heavily relies on geometric measure theory, geometry of Lagrangian graphs, and De Giorgi-Nash-Moser iteration. We expect that the techniques and ideas developed here can be used in some other equations.

Specially, we also consider the second order derivative estimates for the corresponding degenerate Hessian type curvature equations under the optimal condition $\psi^{\frac{1}{k-1}}\in C^{1,1}(\overline{\Omega}\times\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{S}^n)$.

Abstract:New, doubling proofs are given for the interior Hessian estimates of the special Lagrangian equation. These estimates were originally shown by Chen-Warren-Yuan in CPAM 2009 and Wang-Yuan in AJM 2014. This yields a higher codimension analogue of Korevaar's 1987 pointwise proof of the gradient estimate for minimal hypersurfaces, without using the Michael-Simon mean value inequality.
