Abstract:We establish an interior C2 estimate for k+1 convex solutions to Dirichlet problems of k-Hessian equations. We also use such estimate to obtain a rigidity theorem for k+1 convex entire solutions of k-Hessian equations in Euclidean space.

Abstract:We derive interior curvature bounds for admissible solutions of a class of curvature equations subject to affine Dirichlet data, generalizing a well-known estimate of Pogorelov for equations of Monge-Ampere type. For equations for which convexity of the solution is the natural ellipticity assumption, the curvature bound is proved for solutions with C-1,C-1 Dirichlet data. We also use the curvature bounds to improve and extend various existence results for the Dirichlet and Plateau problems.

Abstract:We derive a concavity inequality for $k$-Hessian operators under the semi-convexity condition. As an application, we establish interior estimates for semi-convex solutions of the $k$-Hessian equations with vanishing Dirichlet boundary and obtain a Liouville-type result. Additionally, we provide new and simple proofs of Guan-Ren-Wang's results on global curvature estimates for $k$-curvature equations.

Abstract:In this paper we study the existence of closed convex hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space Rn+1 such that a Weingarten curvature, regarded as a function of their unit normal, is equal to a given positive function on the unit sphere Sn. Two classical problems of this type, namely the Christoffel problem [6] and the Minkowski problem [16], which address respectively the cases of harmonic and Gauss curvature, were completely solved in the 1970’s [7,9,17]. Besides the harmonic and Gauss curvatures, the most interesting Weingarten curvatures are probably the mean curvature, or more generally the k-curvatures (1 ≤ k ≤ n)

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of solutions to the centroaffine Minkowski problem, namely the existence of closed convex hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space R n + 1 \mathbb {R}^{n+1} with prescribed centroaffine curvature. This problem can be described as a variational problem with a functional resembling Kantorovich’s dual functional in optimal transportation. By using the Gauss curvature flow, we obtain new conditions for the existence of solutions to the problem.

Abstract:In the present paper a direct proof for the interior estimates for mean curvature of convex surfaces in R-3 is given. Meanwhile, when the Gaussian curvature of such a C-2 - convex surface is degenerate on the boundary at degree m where m is some integer, a global lower bound away from zero for mean curvature is also obtained. Therefore, global smooth isometric embedding for smooth positive disks in R-3 can be constructed by means of the techniques in Ref. 12.

Abstract:We develop an integral approach to obtain interior a priori $C^{1,1}$ estimates for convex solutions of prescribing scalar curvature equations $\sigma_2(\kappa) = f(x)$ as well as the Hessian equations $\sigma_2(D^2u) = f(x)$. This new approach can deal with the case when $f$ is of weaker regularity. As a result, we prove that the $C^{1,1}$ modules of the solutions depend only on the Lipschitz modules of $f(x)$, instead of the $\|f\|_{C^k}$ for some $k\geq 2$ in all the papers we have known up to now.

Abstract:The curvature estimates of quotient curvature equation do not always exist even for convex setting \cite{GRW}. Thus it is natural question to find other type of elliptic equations possessing curvature estimates. In this paper, we discuss the existence of curvature estimate for fully nonlinear elliptic equations defined by symmetric polynomials, mainlly, the linear combination of elementary symmetric polynomials.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the interior $C^2$ regularity problem for the Hessian quotient equation $\left(\frac{\sigma_n}{\sigma_k}\right)(D^2u)=f$. We give a complete answer to this longstanding problem: for $k=n-1,n-2$, we establish an interior $C^2$ estimate; for $k\leq n-3$, we show that interior $C^2$ estimate fails by finding a singular solution.

Abstract:We study the exterior Dirichlet problem for the homogeneous $k$-Hessian equation. The prescribed asymptotic behavior at infinity of the solution is zero if $k<\frac{n}{2}$, it is $\log|x|+O(1)$ if $k=\frac{n}{2}$ and it is $|x|^{\frac{2k-n}{n}}+O(1)$ if $k>\frac{n}{2}$. By constructing smooth solutions of approximating non-degenerate $k$-Hessian equations with uniform $C^{1,1}$-estimates, we prove the existence part. The uniqueness follows from the comparison theorem and thus the $C^{1,1}$ regularity of the solution of the homogeneous $k$-Hessian equation in the exterior domain is proved. We also prove a uniform positive lower bound of the gradient. As an implication of the $C^{1,1}$ estimates, we derive an almost monotonicity formula along the level set of the approximating solution. In particular, we get an weighted geometric inequality which is a natural generalization of the $k=1$ case.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the k-Hessian problem S k (D 2 u) = b(x)f(u) in Ω, u = +∞ on ∂Ω, where Ω is a C ∞ -smooth bounded strictly (k − 1)-convex domain in R N with N ≥ 2, b ∈ C ∞ (Ω) is positive in Ω and may be singular or vanish on ∂Ω, f ∈ C[0, ∞) ∩ C 1 (0, ∞) (or f ∈ C 1 ( R ) ) is a positive and increasing function. We establish the first expansions (equalities) of k-convex solutions to the above problem when f is borderline regularly varying and Γ-varying at infinity respectively. For the former, we reveal the exact influences of some indexes of f and principal curvatures of ∂Ω on the first expansion of solutions. For the latter, we find the principal curvatures of ∂Ω have no influences on the expansions. Our results and methods are quite different from the existing ones (including k = N). Moreover, we know the existence of k-convex solutions to the above problem (including k = N) is still an open problem when b possesses high singularity on ∂Ω and f satisfies Keller–Osserman type condition. For the radially symmetric case in the ball, we give a positive answer to this open problem, and then we further show the global estimates for all radial large solutions.
