Abstract:Using configuration space level Pontryagin--Thom constructions, we construct a simple Koszul self duality map for the little disks operad $\Sigma^\infty_+ E_n$. For a framed $n$-manifold $M$, we show that a compatible self duality map exists for $\Sigma^\infty_+ E_M$.

Abstract:We show that Koszul duality for operads in $(\mathrm{Top},\times)$ can be expressed via generalized Thom complexes. As an application, we prove the Koszul self duality of the little disk modules $E_M$. We discuss implications for factorization homology, embedding calculus, and confirm an old conjecture of Ching on the relation of Goodwillie calculus to manifold calculus.

Abstract:After 1-point compactification, the collection of all unordered configuration spaces of a manifold admits a commutative multiplication by superposition of configurations. We explain a simple (derived) presentation for this commutative monoid object. Using this presentation, one can quickly deduce Knudsen's formula for the rational cohomology of configuration spaces, prove rational homological stability, and understand how automorphisms of the manifold act on the cohomology of configuration spaces. Similar considerations reproduce the work of Farb--Wolfson--Wood on homological densities.

Abstract:We study ordered configuration spaces of compact manifolds with boundary. We show that for a large class of such manifolds, the real homotopy type of the configuration spaces only depends on the real homotopy type of the pair consisting of the manifold and its boundary. We moreover describe explicit real models of these configuration spaces using three different approaches. We do this by adapting previous constructions for configuration spaces of closed manifolds which relied on Kontsevich's proof of the formality of the little disks operads. We also prove that our models are compatible with the richer structure of configuration spaces, respectively a module over the Swiss-Cheese operad, a module over the associative algebra of configurations in a collar around the boundary of the manifold, and a module over the little disks operad.

Abstract:We study the Disc-structure space $S^{\rm Disc}_\partial(M)$ of a compact smooth manifold $M$. Informally speaking, this space measures the difference between $M$, together with its diffeomorphisms, and the diagram of ordered framed configuration spaces of $M$ with point-forgetting and point-splitting maps between them, together with its derived automorphisms. As the main results, we show that in high dimensions, the Disc-structure space a) only depends on the tangential 2-type of $M$, b) is an infinite loop space, and c) is nontrivial as long as $M$ is spin. The proofs involve intermediate results that may be of independent interest, including an enhancement of embedding calculus to the level of bordism categories, results on the behaviour of derived mapping spaces between operads under rationalisation, and an answer to a question of Dwyer and Hess in that we show that the map ${\rm BTop}(d)\to {\rm BAut}(E_d)$ is an equivalence if and only if $d$ is at most $2$.

From $λ$-connections to $PSL_2(\mathbb{C})$-opers with apparent singularities

Abstract:On a Riemann surface of genus $> 1$, we discuss how to construct opers with apparent singularities from $SL_2(\mathbb{C})$ $\lambda$-connections $(E, \nabla_\lambda)$ and sub-line bundles $L$ of $E$. This construction defines a rational map from a space which captures important data of triples $(E, L, \nabla_\lambda)$ to a space which parametrises the positions and residue parameters of the induced apparent singularities. We show that this is a Poisson map with respect to natural Poisson structures. The relations to wobbly bundles and Lagrangians in the moduli spaces of Higgs bundles and $\lambda$-connections are discussed.

Abstract:We consider the following question: How much of the combinatorial structure determining properties of $\overline{\mathcal{M}_{0, n}}$ is ``intrinsic'' and how much new information do we obtain from using properties specific to this space? Our approach is to study the effect of the $S_n$-action. Apart from being a natural action to consider, it is known that this action does not extend to other wonderful compactifications associated to the $A_{n - 2}$ hyperplane arrangement. We find the differences in intersection patterns of faces on associahedra and permutohedra which characterize the failure to extend to other compactifications and show that this is reflected by most terms of degree $\ge 2$ of the cohomology/Chow ring. Even from a combinatorial perspective, terms of degree 1 are more naturally related to geometric properties. In particular, imposing $S_n$-invariance implies that many of the log concave sequences obtained from degree 1 Hodge--Riemann relations (and all of them for $n \le 2000$) on the Chow ring of $\overline{\mathcal{M}_{0, n}}$ can be restricted to those with a special recursive structure. A conjectural result implies that this is true for all $n$. Elements of these sequences can be expressed as polynomials in quantum Littlewood--Richardson coefficients multiplied by terms such as partition components, factorials, and multinomial coefficients. After dividing by binomial coefficients, polynomials with these numbers as coefficients can be interepreted in terms of volumes or resultants. Finally, we find a connection between the geometry of $\overline{\mathcal{M}_{0, n}}$ and higher degree Hodge--Riemann relations of other rings via Toeplitz matrices.

Operadic Dold-Kan correspondence and mapping spaces between enriched operads

Abstract:According to the Dold-Kan correspondence, the normalization functor determines a categorical equivalence between simplicial abelian groups and non-negatively graded chain complexes. Nevertheless, the same statement is no longer true when extending to the context of algebras over an operad. In spite of this, the existence of the Dold-Kan correspondence for operadic algebras can still be realized from a homotopy-theoretic perspective. This was indeed observed for $A_\infty$-algebras by Schwede-Shipley, and for $E_\infty$-algebras by Mandell, and more generally, for algebras over any $\Sigma$-cofibrant operad due to White-Yau. In the first part of the paper, we shall prove further that the normalization functor induces an equivalence between the $\infty$-categories of operads with non-fixed sets of colors, in the Dwyer-Kan homotopy theory framework. Subsequently, we delve into investigating the mapping spaces between enriched operads by relating them to mapping spaces between operadic bimodules via nice fiber sequences. The validity of the main statements is examined first for simplicial operads, and then for connective dg operads due to the operadic Dold-Kan correspondence.

Duals of Higher Vector Spaces

Abstract:We introduce a notion of dual $n$-groupoid to a simplicial vector space for any $n\ge 0$. This has a canonical duality pairing which we show to be non-degenerate up to homotopy for homotopy $n$-types. As a result this notion of duality is reflexive up to homotopy for $n$-types. In particular the same properties hold for $n$-groupoid objects, whose $n$-duals are again $n$-groupoids. We study this construction in the context of the Dold-Kan correspondence and we reformulate the Eilenberg-Zilber theorem, which classically controls monoidality of the Dold-Kan functors, in terms of mapping complexes. We compute explicitly the 1-dual of a groupoid object and the 2-dual of a 2-groupoid object in the category of vector spaces. As the 1-dual of a groupoid object we recover its dual as a $\mathsf{VB}$ groupoid over the point.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of a contramodule over an $\mathbb{E}_\infty$-coalgebra in a presentably symmetric monoidal $\infty$-category $\mathcal{C}$. Based on this we prove that local duality, in the sense of Hovey--Palmieri--Strickland and Dwyer--Greenlees, is equivalent to Positselski's comodule-contramodule correspondence for idempotent $\mathbb{E}_\infty$-coalgebras in compactly generated symmetric monoidal stable $\infty$-cateogories.

A duality for the class of compact $T_1$-spaces

Abstract:We present a contravariant adjunction between compact $T_1$-spaces and a class of distributive lattices which recomprises key portions of Stone's duality and of Isbell's duality among its instantiations. This brings us to focus on $T_1$-spaces, rather than sober spaces, and to identify points in them with minimal prime filters on some base for a $T_1$-topology (which is what Stone's duality does on the base of clopen sets of compact $0$-dimensional spaces), in spite of completely prime filters on the topology (which is what Isbell's duality does on a sober space). More precisely our contravariant adjunction produces a contravariant, faithful and full embedding of the category of compact $T_1$-spaces with arrows given by closed continuous map as a reflective subcategory of a category $\mathsf{SbfL} $ whose objects are the bounded distributive lattices isomorphic to some base of a $T_1$-topological space (e.g. subfits, when the lattices are frames) and whose arrows are given by (what we call) set-like-morphisms (a natural class of morphisms characterized by a first order expressible constraint). Furthermore this contravariant adjunction becomes a duality when one restricts on the topological side to the category of compact $T_2$-spaces with arbitrary continuous maps, and on the lattice-theoretic side to the category of compact, complete, and normal lattices. A nice by-product of the above results is a lattice-theoretic reformulation of the Stone-Čech compactification theorem which we have not been able to trace elsewhere in the literature.

Abstract:Collisionless energy absorption in 1D nanoplasma layer is considered. Straightforward classical calculation of the absorption rate in action-angle variables is presented. In regular regime the result obtained is the same as in [Zaretsky <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://et.al" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a>., 2004], but deeper insight is possible now due to the technique used. Chirikov criterion of the chaotic absorption regime is written out. Collisionless energy absorption rate in nanoplasma layer is calculated in stochastic regime.

Abstract:We prove that the operad of framed little 2-discs is formal. Tamarkin and Kontsevich each proved that the unframed 2-discs operad is formal. The unframed 2-discs is an operad in the category of S^1-spaces, and the framed 2-discs operad can be constructed from the unframed 2-discs by forming the operadic semidirect product with the circle group. The idea of our proof is to show that Kontsevich's chain of quasi-isomorphisms is compatible with the circle actions and so one can essentially take the operadic semidirect product with the homology of S^1 everywhere to obtain a chain of quasi-isomorphisms between the homology and the chains of the framed 2-discs.

Abstract:Various compatibility conditions among replicated copies of operations in a given algebraic structure have appeared in broad contexts in recent years. Taking a uniform approach, this paper presents an operadic study of compatibility conditions for nonsymmetric operads with unary and binary operations, and homogeneous quadratic and cubic relations. This generalizes the previous studies for binary quadratic operads. We consider three compatibility conditions, namely the linear compatibility, matching compatibility and total compatibility, with increasingly stronger restraints among the replicated copies. The linear compatibility is in Koszul duality to the total compatibility, while the matching compatibility is self dual. Further, each compatibility condition can be expressed in terms of either one or both of the two Manin square products. Finally it is shown that the operads defined by these compatibility conditions from the associative algebra and differential algebra are Koszul utilizing rewriting systems.

Abstract:We show that the color restriction map $\mathrm{Op}^h({\mathcal{SC}}_m,{\mathcal{SC}}_n)\to \mathrm{Op}^h({\mathcal E}_{m-1},{\mathcal E}_{n-1})$ from the derived mapping space of Swiss cheese operads to that of little discs operads, is a weak homotopy equivalence. Abstract:This paper classifies spherical objects in various geometric settings in dimensions two and three, including both minimal and partial crepant resolutions of Kleinian singularities, as well as arbitrary flopping 3-fold contractions with only Gorenstein terminal singularities. The main result is much more general: in each such setting, we prove that all objects in the associated null category with no negative Ext groups are the image, under the action of an appropriate braid or pure braid group, of some object in the heart of a bounded t-structure. The corollary is that all objects which admit no negative Exts, and for which the self-Hom space is one dimensional, are the images of the simples. A variation on this argument goes further, and classifies all bounded t-structures. There are multiple geometric, topological and algebraic consequences, primarily to autoequivalences and stability conditions. Our main new technique also extends into representation theory, and we establish that in the derived category of a finite dimensional algebra which is silting discrete, every object with no negative Ext groups lies in the heart of a bounded t-structure. As a consequence, every semibrick complex can be completed to a simple minded collection.

Abstract:The weak geometric P=W conjecture of L. Katzarkov, A. Noll, P. Pandit, and C. Simpson states that, a smooth Betti moduli space of complex dimension $d$ over a punctured Riemann surface has the dual boundary complex homotopy equivalent to a sphere of dimension $d-1$. Via a microlocal geometric perspective, we verify this conjecture for a class of rank $n$ wild character varieties over the two-sphere with one puncture, associated with any Stokes Legendrian link defined by an $n$-strand positive braid.

Abstract:The aim of this sequel to <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1812.02935" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1812.02935">arXiv:1812.02935</a> is to set up the cornerstones of Koszul duality and Koszulity in the context of operads over a large class of operadic categories. In particular, for these operadic categories we will study concrete examples of binary quadratic operads, describe their Koszul duals and prove that they are Koszul. This includes operads whose algebras are the most important operad- and PROP-like structures such as the classical operads, their variants such as cyclic, modular or wheeled operads, and also diverse versions of PROPs such as properads, dioperads, 1/2PROPs, and still more exotic objects such as permutads and pre-permutads.
