Abstract:We introduce the notion of a dioperad to describe certain operations with multiple inputs and multiple outputs. The framework of Koszul duality for operads is generalized to dioperads. We show that the Lie bialgebra dioperad is Koszul.

Abstract:The aim of this sequel to <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1812.02935" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1812.02935">arXiv:1812.02935</a> is to set up the cornerstones of Koszul duality and Koszulity in the context of operads over a large class of operadic categories. In particular, for these operadic categories we will study concrete examples of binary quadratic operads, describe their Koszul duals and prove that they are Koszul. This includes operads whose algebras are the most important operad- and PROP-like structures such as the classical operads, their variants such as cyclic, modular or wheeled operads, and also diverse versions of PROPs such as properads, dioperads, 1/2PROPs, and still more exotic objects such as permutads and pre-permutads.

Abstract:We prove a version of Koszul duality and the induced derived equivalence for Adams connected -algebras that generalizes the classical Beilinson-Ginzburg-Soergel Koszul duality. As an immediate consequence, we give a version of the Bernšte {\uı} n-Gel'fand-Gel'fand correspondence for Adams connected -algebras.We give various applications. For example, a connected graded algebra is Artin-Schelter regular if and only if its Ext-algebra $\Ext^\ast_A (k, k) $ is Frobenius. This generalizes a result of Smith in the Koszul case. If is Koszul and if both and its Koszul dual are noetherian satisfying a polynomial identity, then is Gorenstein if and only if is. The last statement implies that a certain Calabi-Yau property is preserved under Koszul duality.

Abstract:The notion of weakly d-Koszul module, which is a generalization of d-Koszul module, is introduced. The authors show that a finitely generated graded module M over a d-Koszul algebra is a weakly d-Koszul module if and only if it admits a tower of submodules: 0(?)U0(?)U1(?)…(?)Up= M, such that all Ui/Ui-1 are d-Koszul modules. Let A be a d-Koszul algebra and M a weakly d-Koszul module over A, it turns out that the Koszul duale(M) = ExtA*(M, A0) of M is generated in degree 0 as a graded ExtA*(A0, A0) module.

Abstract:Koszul duality is a fundamental correspondence between algebras for an operad $\mathcal{O}$ and coalgebras for its dual cooperad $B\mathcal{O}$, built from $\mathcal{O}$ using the bar construction. Francis-Gaitsgory proposed a conjecture about the general behavior of this duality. The main result of this paper, roughly speaking, is that Koszul duality provides an equivalence between the subcategories of nilcomplete algebras and conilcomplete coalgebras and that these are the largest possible subcategories for which such a result holds. This disproves Francis-Gaitsgory's prediction, but does provide an adequate replacement. We show that many previously known partial results about Koszul duality can be deduced from our results.

Relative nonhomogeneous Koszul duality for PROPs associated to nonaugmented operads

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to show how Positselski's relative nonhomogeneous Koszul duality theory applies when studying the linear category underlying the PROP associated to a (non-augmented) operad of a certain form, in particular assuming that the reduced part of the operad is binary quadratic. In this case, the linear category has both a left augmentation and a right augmentation (corresponding to different units), using Positselski's terminology. The general theory provides two associated linear differential graded (DG) categories; indeed, in this framework, one can work entirely within the DG realm, as opposed to the curved setting required for Positselski's general theory. Moreover, DG modules over DG categories are related by adjunctions. When the reduced part of the operad is Koszul (working over a field of characteristic zero), the relative Koszul duality theory shows that there is a Koszul-type equivalence between the appropriate homotopy categories of DG modules. This gives a form of Koszul duality relationship between the above DG categories. This is illustrated by the case of the operad encoding unital, commutative associative algebras, extending the classical Koszul duality between commutative associative algebras and Lie algebras. In this case, the associated linear category is the linearization of the category of finite sets and all maps. The relative nonhomogeneous Koszul duality theory relates its derived category to the respective homotopy categories of modules over two explicit linear DG categories.

Abstract:We introduce here the notion of Koszul duality for monoids in the monoidal category of species with respect to the ordinary product. To each Koszul monoid we associate a class of Koszul algebras in the sense of Priddy, by taking the corresponding analytic functor. The operad $\mathscr{A}_M$ of rooted trees enriched with a monoid $M$ was introduced by the author many years ago. One special case of that is the operad of ordinary rooted trees, called in the recent literature the permutative non associative operad. We prove here that $\mathscr{A}_M$ is Koszul if and only if the corresponding monoid $M$ is Koszul. In this way we obtain a wide family of Koszul operads, extending a recent result of Chapoton and Livernet, and providing an interesting link between Koszul duality for associative algebras and Koszul duality for operads.

Abstract:Various compatibility conditions among replicated copies of operations in a given algebraic structure have appeared in broad contexts in recent years. Taking a uniform approach, this paper presents an operadic study of compatibility conditions for nonsymmetric operads with unary and binary operations, and homogeneous quadratic and cubic relations. This generalizes the previous studies for binary quadratic operads. We consider three compatibility conditions, namely the linear compatibility, matching compatibility and total compatibility, with increasingly stronger restraints among the replicated copies. The linear compatibility is in Koszul duality to the total compatibility, while the matching compatibility is self dual. Further, each compatibility condition can be expressed in terms of either one or both of the two Manin square products. Finally it is shown that the operads defined by these compatibility conditions from the associative algebra and differential algebra are Koszul utilizing rewriting systems.

Abstract:We construct a "Koszul duality" equivalence relating the (diagrammatic) Hecke category attached to a Coxeter system and a given realization to the Hecke category attached to the same Coxeter system and the dual realization. This extends a construction of Beilinson-Ginzburg-Soergel and Bezrukavnikov-Yun in a geometric context, and of the first author with Achar, Makisumi and Williamson. As an application, we show that the combinatorics of the "tilting perverse sheaves" considered in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1802.07651" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1802.07651">arXiv:1802.07651</a> is encoded in the combinatorics of the canonical basis of the Hecke algebra of $(W,S)$ attached to the dual realization.

Abstract:We show that Koszul duality for operads in $(\mathrm{Top},\times)$ can be expressed via generalized Thom complexes. As an application, we prove the Koszul self duality of the little disk modules $E_M$. We discuss implications for factorization homology, embedding calculus, and confirm an old conjecture of Ching on the relation of Goodwillie calculus to manifold calculus.

Abstract:Algebraic structures with multiple copies of a given type of operations interrelated by various compatibility conditions have long being studied in mathematics and mathematical physics. They are broadly referred as linearly compatible, matching, and totally compatible structures. This paper gives a unified approach to these structures in the context of operads. We first generalize the process of polarization for polynomials in invariant theory to the one for operads, leading to the general notion of linearly compatible operads. Refining the polarization by partitioning it into foliations, we obtain a notion of matching operads consolidating those appeared recently from applications of regularity structures, and Volterra integral equations. Distinguished among them is the leveled matching compatibility, which is unique with respect to a fix ordering of the vertices in tree monomials. Equating all matching compatibilities of a given operad leads to the totally compatible operad of this operad. For unary/binary quadratic operads, the linear compatibility and the total compatibility are in Koszul dual to each other, and there is a Koszul self-duality among the matching compatibilities. In particular, the leveled matching compatibility is Koszul self-dual. For binary quadratic operads, these three compatible operads can also be obtained by taking Manin black and white products. For some finitely generated binary quadratic operad, Koszulity is preserved under taking the compatibilities.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct groupoid coloured operads governing props and wheeled props, and show they are Koszul. This is accomplished by new biased definitions for (wheeled) props, and an extension of the theory of Groebner bases for operads to apply to groupoid coloured operads. Using the Koszul machine, we define homotopy (wheeled) props, and show they are not formed by polytope based models. Finally, using homotopy transfer theory, we construct Massey products for (wheeled) props, show these products characterise the formality of these structures, and re-obtain a theorem of Mac Lane on the existence of higher homotopies of (co)commutative Hopf algebras.

Abstract:We study the operad $n\text{-}Lie_d$, whose algebras are graded $n$-Lie algebras with degree $d$ $n$-arity operations, which were introduced in Nambu mechanics and later studied in the algebraic setting with Filippov. We compute the Koszul dual of $n\text{-}Lie_d$, called $n\text{-}Com_{-d+n-2}$, whose relations are derived from the Specht module $S^{(n,n-1)}$ for a partition $(n,n-1)$ of $2n-1$. The intrinsic connection between these two operads come from the eigenvalues of the sequence of graphs $\{\mathcal{O}_n\}_{n\geq 0}$, called the Odd graphs, whose spectrum is related to the lower triangular sequence $\{\mathcal{E}_{r,n}\}$, called the Catalan triangle.

Abstract:We are concerned with relating derived categories of all modules of two dual Koszul algebras defined by a locally bounded quiver. We first generalize the well known Acyclic Assembly Lemma and formalize an old method of extending a functor from an additive category into a complex category to its complex category. Applying this to the Koszul functor associated with a Koszul algebra defined by a gradable quiver, we obtain a Koszul complex functor, that descends to an equivalence of a continuous family of pairs of triangulated subcategories of doubly unbounded complexes of the respective derived categories of all modules of the Koszul algebra and its Koszul dual. Under this special setting, this extends Beilinson, Ginzburg and Soegel's Koszul duality. In case the Koszul algebra is right or left locally bounded and its Koszul dual is left or right locally bounded respectively (for instance, the quiver has no right infinite path or no left infinite path), our Koszul duality restricts to an equivalence of the bounded derived categories of finitely supported modules, and an equivalence of the bounded derived categories of finite dimensional modules.

Abstract:We consider the notions of the replicators, including the duplicator and triplicator, of a binary operad. As in the closely related notions of di-Var-algebra and tri-Var-algebra in [14], they provide a general operadic definition for the recent constructions of replicating the operations of algebraic structures. We show that taking replicators is in Koszul dual to taking successors in [3] for binary quadratic operads and is equivalent to taking the white product with certain operads such as Perm. We also relate the replicators to the actions of average operators.

Abstract:We introduce a new type of operad-like structure called a P-operad, which depends on the choice of some collection of posets P, and which is governed by chains in posets of P. We introduce several examples of such structures which are related to classical poset theoretic notions such as poset homology, Cohen--Macaulayness and lexicographic shellability. We then show that P-operads form a satisfactory framework to categorify Kazhdan--Lusztig polynomials of geometric lattices and their kernel. In particular, this leads to a new proof of the positivity of the coefficients of Kazhdan--Lusztig polynomials of geometric lattices.

Abstract:We show that various combinatorial invariants of matroids such as Chow rings and Orlik--Solomon algebras may be assembled into "operad-like" structures. Specifically, one obtains several operads over a certain Feynman category which we introduce and study in detail. In addition, we establish a Koszul-type duality between Chow rings and Orlik--Solomon algebras, vastly generalizing a celebrated result of Getzler. This provides a new interpretation of combinatorial Leray models of Orlik--Solomon algebras.
