In addition to discussing the basic form of these equations, we also address several generalizations, including generalized absolute value equations and matrix absolute value equations. Our survey encompasses known results as well as novel characterizations proposed in this study.

Sufficient conditions for the unique solvability of absolute value matrix equations

Abstract:In this paper, we discussed the unique solvability of the two absolute value matrix equations. The unique solvability condition $\rho (\vert A^{-1} B \vert)<1$ is provided for the generalized absolute value matrix equation (GAVME) $AX + B \vert X \vert = F$. This condition is superior to that of Kumar et al. [J. Numer. Anal. Approx. Theory, 51(1) (2022) 83-87]. We also discussed different conditions for the unique solvability of the new generalized absolute value matrix equation (NGAVME) $AX+B\vert CX \vert=F$ with $A, B, C, F, X \in \mathcal{R}^{n \times n}$. We also provided the corrected version of Corollary 2.1 from the published work by Wang et al. [Appl. Math. Lett., 116 (2021) 106966].

Abstract:Using the result of the error estimate of the simple extended Newton method established in the present paper for solving abstract inequality systems, we study the error bound property of approximate solutions of abstract inequality systems on Banach spaces with the involved function F being Fréchet differentiable and its derivative F^' satisfying the center-Lipschitz condition (not necessarily the Lipschitz condition) around a point x 0 . Under some mild conditions, we establish results on the existence of the solutions, and the error bound properties for approximate solutions of abstract inequality systems. Applications of these results to finite/infinite systems of inequalities/equalities on Banach spaces are presented and the error bound properties of approximate solutions of finite/infinite systems of inequalities/equalities are also established. Our results extend the corresponding results in [ 3 , 18 , 19 ].

Abstract:We comment on the paper ``Numerical study of the SWKB condition of novel classes of exactly solvable systems'' [Y. Nasuda and N. Sawado, Mod. Phys. Lett. A 36, 2150025 (2021)]. We show that it misrepresents our prior work [J. Bougie, A. Gangopadhyaya and C. Rasinariu, J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 51, 375202 (2018)], and clarify this misunderstanding.

Further study on two fixed point iterative schemes for absolute value equations

Abstract:In this paper, we reconsider two new iterative methods for solving absolute value equations (AVE), which is proposed by Ali and Pan (Jpn. J. Ind. Appl. Math. 40: 303--314, 2023). Convergence results of the two iterative schemes and new sufficient conditions for the unique solvability of AVE are presented. In addition, for a special case, the optimal iteration parameters of the two algorithms are analyzed, respectively. Numerical results demonstrate our claims.

Abstract:Abstract This paper is devoted to modifying the Schrödinger-type identity related to singular boundary value problem in (Zhang et al. in Bound. Value Probl. 2018:135, 2018). We also present some mathematical consequences of the method, including a stability result. The main technical tools used to develop the mathematical analysis are local and global bifurcation, monotonicity techniques, fixed point theory in b -metric spaces in (Liu et al. in Bull. Aust. Math. Soc. 94(1):121–130, 2016) and the maximum principle approach with respect to the Schrödinger operator in (Fan et al. in Math. Appl. 31(1):42–48, 2018). As an application, the uniqueness of solutions for singular boundary value problem for the Schrödinger equation is proved.

Abstract:In this paper, we delve into a discrete nonlinear singular semipositone problem, characterized by a nonlinear boundary condition. The nonlinearity, given by f(u)−auα with α>0, exhibits a singularity at u=0 and tends towards −∞ as u approaches 0+. By constructing some suitable auxiliary problems, the difficulty that arises from the singularity and semipositone of nonlinearity and the lack of a maximum principle is overcome. Subsequently, employing the Krasnosel'skii fixed-point theorem, we determine the parameter range that ensures the existence of at least one positive solution and the emergence of at least two positive solutions. Furthermore, based on our existence results, one can obtain the symmetry of the solutions after adding some symmetric conditions on the given functions by using a standard argument.
