Abstract:We present a study of the low-lying $\Xi_{c/b}$ and $\Xi'_{c/b}$ baryon states based on masses, strong and radiative decays. In a harmonic oscillator quark model analysis it is found that the majority of the detected states can be interpreted as $S$- and $P$-wave excitations.

Strong decays of low-lying $D$-wave $Ξ_b/Ξ_b'$ baryons with QPC model

Abstract:For further decoding the inner structure of the two excited $\Xi_b$ states observed by LHCb, we perform a systematical study of the strong decays of the low-lying $1D$-wave $\Xi_b$ and $\Xi_b'$ excitations using the quark pair creation model within the $j-j$ coupling scheme. Combining with the measured masses and decay properties of $\Xi_{b}(6327)^{0}$ and $\Xi_{b}(6327)^{0}$, the two excited states can be explained as $1D$ $\lambda$-mode $\Xi_b$ states $\Xi_{b}|J^{P}=\frac{3}{2}^{+},2\rangle_{\lambda\lambda}$ and $\Xi_{b}|J^{P}=\frac{5}{2}^{+},2\rangle_{\lambda\lambda}$, respectively. If such a view were correct, $\Xi_b'\pi$ and $\Xi_b'^*\pi$ could be another interesting channels for experimental exploring of the $\Xi_{b}(6327)^{0}$ and $\Xi_{b}(6327)^{0}$, respectively. Those calculations are good consistent with the results within the chiral quark model. In addition, for the other missing $1D$-wave $\Xi_b$ and $\Xi_b'$ excitations, our predictions indicate that:(i) the two $\rho$-mode $1D$ $\Xi_b$ states are likely to be moderate states with a width of $\Gamma\sim50$ MeV. The $J^P=3/2^+$ state dominantly decays into $\Sigma_bK$ and $\Xi_b'\pi$, while the $J^P=5/2^+$ state decays primarily through $\Sigma_b^*K$ and $\Xi_b'^*\pi$. (ii) The $\lambda$-mode $1D$ $\Xi_b'$ states may be moderate states with a widths of about several to dozens of MeV. Most of the $\lambda$-mode $1D$ $\Xi_b'$ states mainly decay into the $1P$-wave bottomed baryon via the pionic decay processes. Meanwhile, several $\lambda$-mode $1D$ $\Xi_b'$ states have significant decay rates into $\Lambda B$. (iii) While, the $\rho$-mode $1D$ $\Xi_b'$ states are predicted to be very broad states with a width of about several hundreds MeV. It will be a great challenge to explore the $\rho$-mode $1D$ $\Xi_b'$ states in experiments for their broad widths.

Heavy baryons in the relativized quark model with chromodynamics

Abstract:Following the work of Capstick and Isgur [\href{<a class="link-external link-https" href="https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevD.34.2809" rel="external noopener nofollow">this https URL</a>}{Phys.~Rev.~D~34,~2809~(1986)}], we systematically study the mass spectrum of the heavy baryons in the relativized quark potential model with chromodynamics. Besides the original Godfrey-Isgur (GI) model, we also adopt a modified GI model which replaces the linear confinement by a screened one. The two models give similar results in our work. All heavy baryons observed so far can be explained as three-quark states. In particular, we identify the $\Omega_{c}(3000)$/$\Omega_{b}(6316)$, $\Omega_{c}(3050)$/$\Omega_{b}(6330)$, $\Omega_{c}(3065)$/$\Omega_{b}(6340)$ and $\Omega_{c}(3090)$/$\Omega_{b}(6350)$ states as the $p_{\lambda}$ excitations with quantum numbers $1/2^{-}$, $3/2^{-}$, $3/2^{-}$ and $5/2^{-}$. The $\Omega_{c}(3120)$ is a $3/2^{-}$ state with the $p_{\rho}$ excitation, whose bottom partner is predicted to be $\Omega_{b}(6446/6457,3/2^{-})$. The higher state $\Omega_{c}(3188)$ is the $2s_{\lambda}$ excitation with quantum numbers $1/2^{+}$, and $\Omega_{c}(3327)$ is a $d_{\lambda}$ excitation with quantum numbers $3/2^{+}$ or $5/2^{+}$. In addition, the $\Lambda_{c}(2940)$ with quantum numbers $J^{P}=3/2^{-}$ could be explained as the $p_{\rho}$ excitation.

Abstract:The two heavy quarks in a baryon which contains two heavy quarks and a light one can constitute a scalar or axial vector diquark. We study the electromagnetic radiation of such baryons: (i) Xi ((bc)1)--> Xi ((bc)0) + gamma, (ii) Xi ((bc)1)*--> Xi ((bc)0) + gamma (iii) Xi ((bc)0)**(1/2,l)--> Xi ((bc)0) + gamma, (iv) Xi ((bc)0)**(3/2,l=1)--> Xi ((bc)0) + gamma, and (v) Xi (bc)0**(3/2,l= 2)--> Xi ((bc)0) + gamma, where Xi ((bc)0(1)),Xi ((bc)1)* are S-wave bound states of a heavy scalar or axial vector diquark and a light quark, and Xi ((bc)0)**(l greater than or equal to1) are P- Or D-wave bound states of a heavy scalar diquark and a light quark. The analysis indicates that these professes can be attributed to two categories and the physical mechanisms which are responsible for them are completely distinct. Measurements can provide good judgment for the diquark structure and a better understanding of the physical picture.
Investigation of the mass spectra of singly heavy baryons , , and in the Regge trajectory model

Abstract:Very recently, LHCb Collaboration observed that two new Ωc0 states decay into Ξc+K− with masses of about 3185 MeV and 3327 MeV. However, their spin-parity quantum numbers JP have not been determined. In this paper, we exploit the quark-diquark model, the linear Regge trajectory and the perturbation treatment method to analyze the mass spectra of the discovered experimental data for the singly heavy baryons Σc/Σb , Ξc′/Ξb′ , and Ωc/Ωb . In addition, we further predict the mass spectra of several unobserved Σc/Σb , Ξc′/Ξb′ , and Ωc/Ωb baryons. In the case of the Ωc(3185)0 and Ωc(3327)0 states, we determine Ωc(3185)0 as 2S state and Ωc(3327)0 as 1D state with JP=1/2+ and JP=3/2+ , respectively. Abstract:We present a study of mass spectra and electromagnetic couplings of S- and P-wave baryons containing one, two or three heavy quarks, either charm (c) or bottom (b), in the framework of a non-relativistic harmonic oscillator quark model. A simultaneous fit to 41 known masses of heavy baryons (40 singly-heavy and 1 doubly-heavy) shows a r.m.s. deviation of 19 MeV. We present equal-spacing mass rules for excited baryons which may help to assign quantum numbers to experimentally observed heavy baryons. Explicit expressions are derived for electromagnetic couplings, both for spin-flavor matrix elements and radial integrals.

Abstract:We calculate the masses and leptonic decay widths of the bottomonium $b\bar b$ and charmonium $c\bar c$ states in a constituent quark model where the Cornell-like potential and spin-dependent interaction are employed, with all model parameters predetermined by studying ground and first radial excited states of S- and P-wave heavy quarkonium mesons. By comparing the theoretical predictions for $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ quarkonium states with experimental data and considering possible mixtures of $nS$ and $(n-1)D$ states, we provide tentative assignments for all observed $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ heavy quarkonia. The work suggests that the $\Upsilon$(10860) and $\Upsilon$(11020) are $b\bar b$ $5S-4D$ mixture states, and the $\psi$(4360) and $\psi$(4415) are largely $4S$ and $3D$ $c\bar c$ states respectively. The $\psi$(4260) may not be accommodated with the conventional meson picture in the present work.

Abstract:Recently, three new states of $\Xi_c^0$ were observed in the invariant mass spectrum of $\Lambda^+_cK^-$ by LHCb collaboration. In this work, we use a chiral quark model to investigate these three exited states with the help of Gaussian expansion method both in three-quark structure and in five-quark structure with all possible quantum numbers $IJ^P=\frac{1}{2}(\frac{1}{2})^-$, $\frac{1}{2}(\frac{3}{2})^-$, $\frac{1}{2}(\frac{5}{2})^-$, $\frac{3}{2}(\frac{1}{2})^-$, $\frac{3}{2}(\frac{3}{2})^-$ and $\frac{3}{2}(\frac{5}{2})^-$ . The calculations shows that the 2$S$ states of $\Xi_c'(2579)^0$ and $\Xi_c(2645)^0$ are comparable to experimental results; In addition, the resonance states of five-quark configuration are possible candidates of these new states with negative parity by using the real scaling method and their decay width are also given.
Bottom-charmed baryons in a nonrelativistic quark model

Abstract:In this work, we study the low-lying mass spectra for bottom-charmed baryons in a nonrelativistic quark model by solving the three-body Schrödinger equation. The lowest $\Xi_{bc}$, $\Xi_{bc}^\prime$, $\Omega_{bc}$, and $\Omega_{bc}^\prime$ states are predicted to be about 6979, 6953, 7109, and 7092 MeV, respectively. Also, the strong decays for the low-lying excited states are investigated. Our results indicate that some of $\lambda-$mode $P-$wave bottom-charmed baryons are relatively narrow, which can be searched for in future experiments. For the low-lying $\rho-$mode and $\rho-\lambda$ hybrid states, their strong decays are highly suppressed and they can survive as extremely narrow states. Moreover, the mass spectra and strong decays for bottom-charmed baryons preserve the heavy quark symmetry well. We hope our calculations can provide helpful information for further experimental and theoretical researches.

Abstract:We report progress on calculations of the heavy-light baryons $\Sigma_c$ and $\Lambda_c$ and their excitations with $J^P = 1/2^+$ using functional methods. We employ a covariant quark-diquark approach, where the interaction amounts to a quark exchange between quarks and diquarks and the ingredients are determined from the quark level. A partial-wave analysis reveals the presence of orbital angular momentum components in terms of p waves, which are non-relativistically suppressed.

Masses of higher excited states of $Ξ_{c}'$ and $Ω_{c}$ baryons

Abstract:Significant efforts have been made in recent years to measure the properties of charmed baryons. In this work, we study the $\Xi_{c}'$ and $\Omega_{c}$ baryons in the relativistic flux tube model with a quark-diquark picture of a baryon. The modified Regge relation between mass and angular momentum is used to predict the spin-average masses. The spin-dependent interactions are also included to compute the spin-dependent splitting. We calculate the masses of states belonging to the $1F$-wave and $1G$-wave of $\Xi_{c}'$ and $\Omega_{c}$ baryons, which are not yet detected experimentally. Our mass predictions can offer valuable insights to experimental facilities in their search to discover the higher excited states of $\Xi_{c}'$ and $\Omega_{c}$ baryons.

Heavy-quark dominance and fine structure of excited heavy baryons $Σ_{Q}$, $Ξ'_{Q}$ and $Ω_{Q}$

Abstract:In the framework of the relativized quark model, the calculation of spin-orbit interactions is improved by considering the contribution from the light quark cluster in a singly heavy baryon. It modifies the energy level splitting of the orbital excitation significantly and causes the emergence of fine structures for $\Sigma_{Q}$, $\Xi '_{Q}$ and $\Omega_{Q}$ baryons. Based on this improvement, we systematically analyze the fine structures and retest the heavy quark dominance mechanism. This mechanism is found to be violated in the $1P$-wave states of the $\Sigma_{c}$, $\Xi '_{c}$ and $\Omega_{c}$ baryons although it remains effective overall, which may help to understand the nature of the heavy quarks and strong interactions. With the predicted fine structures, we make the precise assignments of those observed heavy baryons which once could not be accurately explained due to their close mass values. The method used in this work is instructive and applicable for the study of more complex exotic hadrons, such as the heavy tetraquarks and pentaquarks.

Predicted $Ξ_b(6087)^0$ and further predictions

Abstract:The methods of QCD sum rules and light-cone sum rules within the framework of heavy quark effective theory have been widely applied to study the singly heavy baryons, and especially, we have applied these methods to predict not only the mass and width of the $\Xi_b(6087)^0$ recently discovered by LHCb, but also its observation channel and its mass difference from the $\Xi_b(6100)^-$. We apply the same approach to perform a complete study on the $P$-wave bottom baryons of the $SU(3)$ flavor $\mathbf{\bar 3}_F$ and investigate their fine structure. Besides the $\Lambda_b(5912)^0$, $\Lambda_b(5920)^0$, $\Xi_b(6087)^0$, and $\Xi_b(6100)^-$, our results suggest the existence of the other two $\Lambda_b$ and two $\Xi_b$ baryons, whose widths are limited. They are the $\Lambda_b(J^P = 3/2^-)$ with the mass and width about $(5.93^{+0.13}_{-0.13}~{\rm GeV},\,0.0^{+12.0}_{-~0.0}~{\rm MeV})$, the $\Lambda_b(5/2^-)$ with $(5.94^{+0.13}_{-0.13}~{\rm GeV},\,\approx0~{\rm MeV})$, the $\Xi_b(3/2^-)$ with $(6.10^{+0.15}_{-0.10}~{\rm GeV},\,1.4{^{+11.6}_{-~1.4}}~{\rm MeV})$, and the $\Xi_b(5/2^-)$ with $(6.11^{+0.15}_{-0.10}~{\rm GeV},\,1.0{^{+7.4}_{-1.0}}~{\rm MeV})$. Their mass splittings are calculated to be $M_{\Lambda_b(5/2^-)} - M_{\Lambda_b(3/2^-)} = 17\pm7~{\rm MeV}$ and $M_{\Xi_b(5/2^-)} - M_{\Xi_b(3/2^-)} = 14\pm7~{\rm MeV}$. All these baryons are explained as the $P$-wave bottom baryons of the $\rho$-mode, where the orbital excitation is between the two light quarks. However, the existence of this mode is still controversial, so their experimental searches can verify both our approach and the existence of the $\rho$-mode, which can significantly improve our understanding on the internal structure of hadrons.

Poincaré-covariant Analysis of Heavy-Quark Baryons

Abstract:We use a symmetry-preserving truncation of meson and baryon bound-state equations in quantum field theory in order to develop a unified description of systems constituted from light and heavy quarks. In particular, we compute the spectrum and leptonic decay constants of ground-state pseudoscalar and vector mesons: q'(q) over bar, Q'(Q) over bar, with q', q = u, d, s and Q', Q = c, b, and the masses of J(P) = 3/2(+) baryons and their first positive-parity excitations, including those containing one or more heavy quarks. This Poincare covariant analysis predicts that such baryons have a complicated angular momentum structure. For instance, the ground states are all primarily S wave in character, but each possesses P-, D- and F-wave components, with the P-wave fraction being large in the qqq states, and the first positive-parity excitation in each channel having a large D-wave component, which grows with increasing current-quark mass, but also exhibits features consistent with a radial excitation. The configuration space extent of all such baryons decreases as the mass of the valence-quark constituents increases.

Abstract:Inspired by the LHCb’s newest observation of two new excited Ξb0 states, we systematically study the strong decays of the low-lying λ and ρ modes 1D-wave Ξb and Ξb′ baryons using the chiral quark model within the j-j coupling scheme. Based on the measured masses and strong decay properties of Ξb(6327)0 and Ξb(6333)0, we explain the two states as the λ-mode 1D Ξb states with JP=3/2+ and JP=5/2+, respectively. Moreover, under this assignment, another dominant decay channel of Ξb(6327)0 is Ξb′π and that of Ξb(6333)0 is Ξb*π. Hence, the decay modes Ξb′π and Ξb*π may be another ideal channel as well to decode the inner structure of Ξb(6327)0 and Ξb(6333)0, respectively. For other unseen 1D Ξb and Ξb′ states, our results indicate (i) that Ξb|JP=32+,2⟩ρ, and Ξb|JP=52+,2⟩ρ are most likely to be narrow states with a width of Γ≃(12-30) MeV, and dominantly decay into ΣbK and Σb*K, respectively, and (ii) that the 1D Ξb′ baryons are not broad states, and the widths vary in the range of Γ≃(14-46) MeV. These states have a good potential to be observed in their dominant decay processes.

Strong decay widths of S- and P-wave singly-, doubly- and triply-heavy charm and bottom baryons

Abstract:We present a study of two-body decay widths of heavy baryons into another heavy baryon and a light pseudoscalar meson in the framework of the non-relativistic quark model in combination with the elementary emission model for the strong couplings. The present study includes the decays of 1S- and 1P-wave baryons with one, two or three heavy quarks, either charm (c) or bottom (b). The relative partial widths are given by the appropriate flavor SU(3) isoscalar factors. The flavor, spin and orbital contributions are discussed explicitly as well as selection rules for forbidden decays. The total widths are compared with the available experimental data as well as with other theoretical studies. The calculated widths of singly-heavy baryons are found to be in reasonable agreement with the observed widths. The decay widths of doubly-heavy baryons are suppressed with respect to those of the singly-heavy baryons by the ratios of the quark masses appearing in the orbital contributions.

Abstract:In this work, the strong decay behaviors of the $\lambda-$mode low-lying $\Xi_{b}$ and $\Xi_{b}^\prime$ baryons are investigated within the $^3P_0$ model. Our results suggest that all of the low-lying $\bar 3_F$ states $\Xi_b(2S)$, $\Xi_b(1P)$, and $\Xi_b(1D)$ have small decay widths of less than 20 MeV, and these states have good potentials to be observed in the $\Xi_b^\prime \pi$ and $\Xi_b^{\prime *} \pi$ invariant masses. Further, most of the $6_F$ multiplets are relatively narrow and may decay into the $\Xi_b \pi$, $\Xi_b^\prime \pi$, $\Xi_b^{\prime *} \pi$, and $\Lambda_b \bar K$ final states. Considering the masses and strong decay behaviors, we can assign the newly observed $\Xi_{b}(6100)$ resonance as the $\Xi_b(1P)$ state with $J^P=3/2^-$ and interpret the $\Xi_{b}(6227)$ structure as the $J^P=3/2^-$ $\Xi_b^\prime(1P)$ state with a proper mixing angle. We expect that our predictions for these excited bottom strange baryons will provide helpful information for future experimental research.
