Abstract:The goal of this paper is the fine structure of the ideals in the title, with emphasis on the properties of the associated Rees algebra and the special fiber. The watershed between the present approach and some of the previous work in the literature is that here one does not assume that the ideals in question satisfy the common generic properties. One exception is a recent work of N. P. H. Lan which inspired the present work. Here we recover and extend his work. We strongly focus on the behavior of the ideals of minors of the corresponding so-called Hilbert--Burch matrix and on conjugation features of the latter. We apply the results to three important models: linearly presented ideals of plane fat points, reciprocal ideals of hyperplane arrangements and linearly presented monomial ideals.

Abstract:In this paper we combine methods from projective geometry, Klein's model, and Clifford algebra. We develop a Clifford algebra whose Pin group is a double cover of the group of regular projective transformations. The Clifford algebra we use is constructed as homogeneous model for the five-dimensional real projective space $P^5(\mathbb{R})$ where Klein's quadric $M_2^4$ defines the quadratic form. We discuss all entities that can be represented naturally in this homogeneous Clifford algebra model. Projective automorphisms of Klein's quadric induce projective transformations of $P^3(\mathbb{R})$ and vice versa. Cayley-Klein geometries can be represented by Clifford algebras, where the group of Cayley-Klein isometries is given by the Pin group of the corresponding Clifford algebra. Therefore, we examine the versor group and study the correspondence between versors and regular projective transformations represented as $4\times 4$ matrices. Furthermore, we give methods to compute a versor corresponding to a given projective transformation.

Abstract:We study simple Lie algebras generated by extremal elements, over arbitrary fields of arbitrary characteristic. We show: (1) If the extremal geometry contains lines, then the Lie algebra admits a $5 \times 5$-grading that can be parametrized by a cubic norm structure; (2) If there exists a field extension of degree at most $2$ such that the extremal geometry over that field extension contains lines, and in addition, there exist symplectic pairs of extremal elements, then the Lie algebra admits a $5 \times 5$-grading that can be parametrized by a quadrangular algebra. One of our key tools is a new definition of exponential maps that makes sense even over fields of characteristic $2$ and $3$, which ought to be interesting in its own right.

Abstract:The compact 16-dimensional Moufang plane, also known as the Cayley plane, has traditionally been defined through the lens of octonionic geometry. In this study, we present a novel approach, demonstrating that the Cayley plane can be defined in an equally clean, straightforward and more economic way using two different division and composition algebras: the paraoctonions and the Okubo algebra. The result is quite surprising since paraoctonions and Okubo algebra possess a weaker algebraic structure than the octonions, since they are non-alternative and do not uphold the Moufang identities. Intriguingly, the real Okubo algebra has $\text{SU}\left(3\right)$ as automorphism group, which is a classical Lie group, while octonions and paraoctonions have an exceptional Lie group of type $\text{G}_{2}$. This is remarkable, given that the projective plane defined over the real Okubo algebra is nevertheless isomorphic and isometric to the octonionic projective plane which is at the very heart of the geometric realisations of all types of exceptional Lie groups. Despite its historical ties with octonionic geometry, our research underscores the real Okubo algebra as the weakest algebraic structure allowing the definition of the compact 16-dimensional Moufang plane.

Abstract:This paper focuses on tools for constructing 4-manifolds that have fundamental group $G$ isomorphic to a right-angled Artin group and that are also minimal, in the sense that they minimize $b_2(M)$, the dimension of $H_2(M;\mathbb{Q})$. For a finitely presented group $G$, define $h(G) = \min\{ b_2(M) | M \in \mathcal M(G) \}$. In this paper, we explore the ways in which we can bound $h(G)$ from below using group cohomology and the tools necessary to build 4-manifolds that realize these lower bounds. We give solutions for right-angled Artin groups, or RAAGs, when the graph associated to $G$ has no 4-cliques, and further we reduce this problem to the case when the graph is connected and contains only 4-cliques. We then give solutions for many infinite families of RAAGs and provide a conjecture to the solution for all RAAGs.

Abstract:In this article we study Kummer's $\mathcal D$-groupoid, which is the groupoid of symmetries of a meromorphic projective structure. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for its minimality, in the sense of not having infinite sub-$\mathcal D$-groupoids. The condition that we find turns out to be equivalent to the strong minimality of the non-linear Schwarzian equation and the non-integrability by means of Liouvillian functions of the linear Schwarzian equation.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the structures of Schur algebra and Lusztig algebra associated to partial flag varieties of affine type D. We show that there is a subalgebra of Lusztig algebra and the quantum groups arising from this subalgebras via stabilization procedures is a coideal subalgebra of quantum group of affine $\mathfrak{sl}$ type. We construct monomial and canonical bases of the idempotented quantum algebra and establish the positivity properties of the canonical basis with respect to multiplication and the bilinear pairing.

Abstract:We prove that any convex geometry $\mathcal{A}=(U,\mathcal{C})$ on $n$ points and any ideal $\mathcal{I}=(U',\mathcal{C}')$ of $\mathcal{A}$ can be realized as the intersection pattern of an open convex polyhedral cone $K\subseteq {\mathbb R}^n$ with the orthants of ${\mathbb R}^n$. Furthermore, we show that $K$ can be chosen to have at most $m$ facets, where $m$ is the number of critical rooted circuits of $\mathcal{A}$. We also show that any convex geometry of convex dimension $d$ is realizable in ${\mathbb R}^d$ and that any multisimplicial complex (a basic example of an ideal of a convex geometry) of dimension $d$ is realizable in ${\mathbb R}^{2d}$ and that this is best possible. From our results it also follows that distributive lattices of dimension $d$ are realizable in ${\mathbb R}^{d}$ and that median systems are realizable. We leave open %the question whether each median system of dimension $d$ is realizable in ${\mathbb R}^{O(d)}$.

Abstract:We study the existence of generalized complex structures on the six-dimensional sphere $\mathbb S^6$. We work with the generalized tangent bundle $\mathbb T\mathbb S^6\to \mathbb S^6$ and define the integrability of generalized geometric structures in terms of the Dorfman bracket. Specifically, we prove that there is not a direct way to induce a generalized complex structure on $\mathbb S^6$ from its usual nearly Kähler structure inherited from the octonions product.

Let C(Δ i ) be the number of sides of Δ i belonging to Γ A if the unmarked boundary component of is not a side of Δ i ; otherwise, C(Δ i ) = ∞, and let f-Δ be the set of all the non-∞-elementary polygons and (resp. ) be the set of all the forbidden threads (resp. of finite length). Then we have the global dimension of A is , where l ( Π ) is the length of Π the left and right self-injective dimensions of A are As a consequence, we get that the finiteness of the global dimension of gentle algebras is invariant under Avella-Geiss (AG)-equivalence. In addition, we get that the number of indecomposable non-projective Gorenstein projective modules over gentle algebras is also invariant under AG-equivalence.

Abstract:In this paper, we study geometry of totally real minimal surfaces in the complex hyperquadric $Q_{N-2}$, and obtain some characterizations of the harmonic sequence generated by these minimal immersions. For totally real flat surfaces that are minimal in both $Q_{N-2}$ and $\mathbb{C}P^{N-1}$, we determine them for $N=4, 5, 6$, and give a classification theorem when they are Clifford solutions.
