Abstract:In this paper we generalized Venkatesh and Woodbury's work on the subconvexity bound of triple product L-function in level aspect, allowing joint ramifications, higher ramifications, general unitary central characters and general special values of local epsilon factors. In particular we derived a nice general formula for the local integrals whenever one of the representations has sufficiently higher level than the other two.

Abstract:Let $\pi'$ be a fixed unitary cuspidal representation of $\mathrm{GL}(n)/\mathbb{Q}.$ We establish a subconvex bound in the $t$-aspect $$ L(1/2+it,\pi\times\pi')\ll_{\pi,\pi',\varepsilon}(1+|t|)^{\frac{n(n+1)}{4}-\frac{1}{4\cdot (4n^2+2n-1)}+\varepsilon}, $$ for any unitary pure isobaric automorphic representation $\pi$ of $\mathrm{GL}(n+1)/\mathbb{Q}.$ Moreover, the bound improves in the standard $L$-function case $$ L(1/2+it, \pi')\ll_{\pi',\varepsilon}(1+|t|)^{\frac{n}{4}-\frac{1}{4(n+1)(4n-1)}+\varepsilon}. $$ We also prove an explicit lower bound for nonvanishing of central $L$-values $$ \sum_{\pi\in\mathcal{A}_0}\textbf{1}_{L(1/2,\pi\times\pi')\neq 0}\gg_{\varepsilon}|\mathcal{A}_0|^{\frac{1}{n(n+1)(4n^2+2n-1)}-\varepsilon}, $$ for a suitable finite family $\mathcal{A}_0$ of unitary cuspidal representations of $\mathrm{GL}(n+1)/\mathbb{Q}.$ More generally, we address the spectral side subconvexity in the case of uniform parameter growth, and a quantitative form of simultaneous nonvanishing of central $L$-values for $\mathrm{GL}(n+1)\times\mathrm{GL}(n)$ (over $\mathbb{Q}$) in both level and eigenvalue aspects. Among other ingredients, our proofs employ a new relative trace formula in conjunction with P. Nelson's construction of archimedean test functions in \cite{Nel21} and volume estimates in \cite{Nel20}.

Abstract:Given a subspace $U\subset\mathbb{C}[x_1,\dots,x_n]_d$ we consider the closure of the image of the rational map $\mathbb{P}^{n-1}\dashrightarrow\mathbb{P}^{\dim U-1}$ given by $U$. Its coordinate ring is isomorphic to $\bigoplus_{i\ge 0} U^i$ where $U^i$ is the degree $i$ component. We consider the Hilbert function of this algebra in the case where $U$ contains a regular sequence, equivalently the map is a morphism, and find lower bounds for the dimension of the degree 2 component. We apply our bounds to study the boundary structure of certain convex sets, called Gram spectrahedra, which are linked to sum of squares representations of non-negative polynomials.

Abstract:Let pi be a cuspidal automorphic representation of PGL(2)(A(Q)) of arithmetic conductor C and archimedean parameter T, and let phi be an L-2-normalized automorphic form in the space of m. The sup-norm problem asks for bounds on parallel to phi parallel to(infinity) in terms of C and T. The quantum unique ergodicity (QUE) problem concerns the limiting behavior of the L-2-mass vertical bar phi vertical bar(2)(g) dg of phi. Previous work on these problems in the conductor-aspect has focused on the case that is a newform. In this work, we study these problems for a class of automorphic forms that are not newforms. Precisely, we assume that for each prime divisor p of C, the local component pi(p) is supercuspidal (and satisfies some additional technical hypotheses), and consider automorphic forms phi for which the local components phi(p) is an element of pi(p) are "minimal" vectors. Such vectors may be understood as non-archimedean analogues of lowest weight vectors in holomorphic discrete series representations of PGL(2) (R). For automorphic forms as above, we prove a sup -norm bound that is sharper than what is known in the newform case. In particular, if pi(infinity) is a holomorphic discrete series of lowest weight k, we obtain the optimal bound C(1/8-is an element of)k(1/-is an element of) <<(is an element of) vertical bar phi vertical bar(infinity) <<(is an element of) C(1/8 +is an element of)k(1/4+is an element of). We prove also that these forms give analytic test vectors for the QUE period, thereby demonstrating the equivalence between the strong QUE and the subconvexity problems for this class of vectors. This finding contrasts the known failure of this equivalence [3 1] for newforms of powerful level.
Bounds of restriction of characters to submanifolds

Abstract:To investigate concentration of Laplacian eigenfunctions on a compact manifold as the eigenvalue grows to infinity, an important route is to bound their restriction to submanifolds. In this paper we take the route in the setting of a compact Lie group, and provide sharp restriction bounds of general Laplacian eigenfunctions as well as important special ones such as matrix coefficients and in particular characters of irreducible representations of the group. We focus on two classes of submanifolds, namely, submanifolds of maximal flats and the conjugation-invariant submanifolds. We prove conjecturally sharp asymptotic $L^p$ bounds of restriction of general Laplacian eigenfunctions to submanifolds of maximal flats for all $p\geq 2$. We also prove sharp asymptotic $L^p$ bounds of restriction of characters to submanifolds of maximal tori for all $p>0$, of general matrix coefficients to submanifolds of maximal flats for all $p\geq 2$, and of characters to the conjugation-invariant submanifolds for all $p\geq 2$.

Abstract: In this paper we study the subconvexity problem for the Rankin-Selberg L-function and triple product L-function, allowing joint ramifications and conductor dropping range. We first extend the method of Michel-Venkatesh to reduce the bounds for L-functions to local conjectures on test vectors, then verify these local conjectures under certain conditions, giving new subconvex bounds as long as the representations are not completely related.

Abstract:We study the action of the quantum group $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}_n})$ on the equivariant K-theory of affine Laumon spaces. We show that, at any highest weight away from the critical level, this can be identified with the contragredient dual Verma module of $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}_n})$, improving earlier results of Braverman-Finkelberg and Negu{ţ}. The proof uses a variant of stable envelopes first introduce by Maulik-Okounkov in the study of Nakajima quiver varieties.

Abstract:Let $\pi$ traverse a sequence of cuspidal automorphic representations of GL(2) with large prime level, unramified central character and bounded infinity type. For G either of the groups GL(1) or PGL(2), let H(G) denote the assertion that subconvexity holds for G-twists of the adjoint $L$-function of $\pi$, with polynomial dependence upon the conductor of the twist. We show that H(GL(1)) implies H(PGL(2)). In geometric terms, H(PGL(2)) corresponds roughly to an instance of arithmetic quantum unique ergodicity with a power savings in the error term, H(GL(1)) to the special case in which the relevant sequence of measures is tested against an Eisenstein series.

Abstract:We generalize bounds of Liu-Wan-Xiao for slopes in eigencurves for definite unitary groups of rank $2$ to slopes in eigenvarieties for definite unitary groups of any rank. We show that for a definite unitary group of rank $n$, the Newton polygon of the characteristic power series of the $U_p$ Hecke operator has exact growth rate $x^{1+\frac2{n(n-1)}}$, times a constant proportional to the distance of the weight from the boundary of weight space. The proof goes through the classification of forms associated to principal series representations. We also give a consequence for the geometry of these eigenvarieties over the boundary of weight space.

Strong Hybrid Subconvexity for Twisted Selfdual $\mathrm{GL}_3$ $L$-Functions

Abstract:We prove strong hybrid subconvex bounds simultaneously in the $q$ and $t$ aspects for $L$-functions of selfdual $\mathrm{GL}_3$ cusp forms twisted by primitive Dirichlet characters. We additionally prove analogous hybrid subconvex bounds for central values of certain $\mathrm{GL}_3 \times \mathrm{GL}_2$ Rankin-Selberg $L$-functions. The subconvex bounds that we obtain are strong in the sense that, modulo current knowledge on estimates for the second moment of $\mathrm{GL}_3$ $L$-functions, they are the natural limit of the first moment method pioneered by Li and by Blomer. The method of proof relies on an explicit $\mathrm{GL}_3 \times \mathrm{GL}_2 \leftrightsquigarrow \mathrm{GL}_4 \times \mathrm{GL}_1$ spectral reciprocity formula, which relates a $\mathrm{GL}_2$ moment of $\mathrm{GL}_3 \times \mathrm{GL}_2$ Rankin-Selberg $L$-functions to a $\mathrm{GL}_1$ moment of $\mathrm{GL}_4 \times \mathrm{GL}_1$ Rankin-Selberg $L$-functions. A key additional input is a Lindelöf-on-average upper bound for the second moment of Dirichlet $L$-functions restricted to a coset, which is of independent interest.

Abstract: We establish a Weyl-type subconvexity of $L(\tfrac{1}{2},f)$ for spherical Hilbert newforms $f$ with level ideal $\mathfrak{N}^2$, in which $\mathfrak{N}$ is required to be cube-free, and at any prime ideal $\mathfrak{p}$ with $\mathfrak{p}^2 \mid \mathfrak{N}$ the local representation generated by $f$ is not supercuspidal. The proof exploits a distributional version of Motohashi's formula over number fields developed by the first author, as well as Katz's work on hypergeometric sums over finite fields in the language of $\ell$-adic cohomology.

Abstract:We study the subconvexity problem for $GL_{3}(R)$ $L$-functions in the t-aspect using integral representations by combining techniques employed by Michel-Venkatesh in their study of the corresponding problem for $GL_{2}$ with ideas from recent works of Munshi, Holowinsky-Nelson and Lin. Our main objective is to give - from the perspective of integral representations of $L$-functions and automorphic representation theory - a possible explanation of the origin of the "key identity" arising in the latter series of works.
