Abstract:Let $f$ and $g$ be two Hecke-Maass or holomorphic primitive cusp forms for $SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$ and $\chi$ be a primitive Dirichlet character of modulus $p$, a prime. A subconvex bound for the central values of the Rankin-Selberg L-functions is $L(s, f \otimes g \otimes \chi)$ is give by $$L(\frac{1}{2}, f \otimes g \otimes \chi) \ll_{f,g,\epsilon}p^{\frac{22}{23}+\epsilon} ,$$ for any $\epsilon > 0$, where the implied constant depends only on the forms $f,g$ and $\epsilon$.

Abstract: In this paper we study the subconvexity problem for the Rankin-Selberg L-function and triple product L-function, allowing joint ramifications and conductor dropping range. We first extend the method of Michel-Venkatesh to reduce the bounds for L-functions to local conjectures on test vectors, then verify these local conjectures under certain conditions, giving new subconvex bounds as long as the representations are not completely related.

Abstract:We study the subconvexity problem for $GL_{3}(R)$ $L$-functions in the t-aspect using integral representations by combining techniques employed by Michel-Venkatesh in their study of the corresponding problem for $GL_{2}$ with ideas from recent works of Munshi, Holowinsky-Nelson and Lin. Our main objective is to give - from the perspective of integral representations of $L$-functions and automorphic representation theory - a possible explanation of the origin of the "key identity" arising in the latter series of works.

We prove the subconvex bound $$ L(1/2,f\otimes \chi)\ll \mathfrak{q}^{1/2-1/12+\varepsilon}, $$ where the implicit constant depends only on the archimedean parameter of $f$ and $\varepsilon$. The main input is a modifying trivial delta method developed in [1].

Abstract:The Katz-Sarnak density conjecture states that the scaling limits of the distributions of zeros of families of automorphic $L$-functions agree with the scaling limits of eigenvalue distributions of classical subgroups of the unitary groups $U(N)$. This conjecture is often tested by way of computing particular statistics, such as the one-level density, which evaluates a test function with compactly supported Fourier transform at normalized zeros near the central point. Iwaniec, Luo, and Sarnak studied the one-level densities of cuspidal newforms of weight $k$ and level $N$. They showed in the limit as $kN \to\infty$ that these families have one-level densities agreeing with orthogonal type for test functions with Fourier transform supported in $(-2,2)$. Exceeding $(-1,1)$ is important as the three orthogonal groups are indistinguishable for support up to $(-1,1)$ but are distinguishable for any larger support. We study the other family of ${\rm GL}_2$ automorphic forms over $\mathbb{Q}$: Maass forms. To facilitate the analysis, we use smooth weight functions in the Kuznetsov formula which, among other restrictions, vanish to order $M$ at the origin. For test functions with Fourier transform supported inside $\left(-2 + \frac{2}{2M+1}, 2 - \frac{2}{2M+1}\right)$, we unconditionally prove the one-level density of the low-lying zeros of level 1 Maass forms, as the eigenvalues tend to infinity, agrees only with that of the scaling limit of orthogonal matrices.

Abstract:Let $a(n)$ be the $n$-th Dirichlet coefficient of the automorphic $L$-function or the Rankin--Selberg $L$-function. We investigate the cancellation of $a(n)$ over specific sequences linked to the Waring--Goldbach problem, by establishing a nontrivial bound for the additive twisted sums over primes on ${\mathrm{GL}}_m$ and ${\mathrm{GL}}_m\times{\mathrm{GL}}_m .$ The bound does not depend on the generalized Ramanujan conjecture or the nonexistence of Landau--Siegel zeros. Furthermore, we present an application associated with the Sato--Tate conjecture and propose a conjecture about Goldbach's conjecture on average bound.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove uniform bounds for $\rm GL (3)\times GL(2)$ $L$-functions in the $\rm GL(2)$ spectral aspect and the $t$ aspect by a delta method. More precisely, let $\phi$ be a Hecke--Maass cusp form for $\rm SL(3,\mathbb{Z})$ and $f$ a Hecke--Maass cusp form for $\rm SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$ with the spectral parameter $t_f$. Then for $t\in\mathbb{R}$ and any $\varepsilon>0$, we have \[ L(1/2+it,\phi\times f) \ll_{\phi,\varepsilon} (t_f+|t|)^{27/20+\varepsilon}. \] Moreover, we get subconvexity bounds for $L(1/2+it,\phi\times f)$ whenever $|t|-t_f \gg (|t|+t_f)^{3/5+\varepsilon}$.

Abstract:Let $\pi'$ be a fixed unitary cuspidal representation of $\mathrm{GL}(n)/\mathbb{Q}.$ We establish a subconvex bound in the $t$-aspect $$ L(1/2+it,\pi\times\pi')\ll_{\pi,\pi',\varepsilon}(1+|t|)^{\frac{n(n+1)}{4}-\frac{1}{4\cdot (4n^2+2n-1)}+\varepsilon}, $$ for any unitary pure isobaric automorphic representation $\pi$ of $\mathrm{GL}(n+1)/\mathbb{Q}.$ Moreover, the bound improves in the standard $L$-function case $$ L(1/2+it, \pi')\ll_{\pi',\varepsilon}(1+|t|)^{\frac{n}{4}-\frac{1}{4(n+1)(4n-1)}+\varepsilon}. $$ We also prove an explicit lower bound for nonvanishing of central $L$-values $$ \sum_{\pi\in\mathcal{A}_0}\textbf{1}_{L(1/2,\pi\times\pi')\neq 0}\gg_{\varepsilon}|\mathcal{A}_0|^{\frac{1}{n(n+1)(4n^2+2n-1)}-\varepsilon}, $$ for a suitable finite family $\mathcal{A}_0$ of unitary cuspidal representations of $\mathrm{GL}(n+1)/\mathbb{Q}.$ More generally, we address the spectral side subconvexity in the case of uniform parameter growth, and a quantitative form of simultaneous nonvanishing of central $L$-values for $\mathrm{GL}(n+1)\times\mathrm{GL}(n)$ (over $\mathbb{Q}$) in both level and eigenvalue aspects. Among other ingredients, our proofs employ a new relative trace formula in conjunction with P. Nelson's construction of archimedean test functions in \cite{Nel21} and volume estimates in \cite{Nel20}.

Abstract:We employ a regularized relative trace formula to establish a second moment estimate for twisted $L$-functions across all aspects over a number field. Our results yield hybrid subconvex bounds for both Hecke $L$-functions and twisted $L$-functions, comparable to the Weyl bound in suitable ranges. Moreover, we present an application of our results to address the simultaneous nonvanishing problem.

Abstract:We prove strong hybrid subconvex bounds simultaneously in the $q$ and $t$ aspects for $L$-functions of selfdual $\mathrm{GL}_3$ cusp forms twisted by primitive Dirichlet characters. We additionally prove analogous hybrid subconvex bounds for central values of certain $\mathrm{GL}_3 \times \mathrm{GL}_2$ Rankin-Selberg $L$-functions. The subconvex bounds that we obtain are strong in the sense that, modulo current knowledge on estimates for the second moment of $\mathrm{GL}_3$ $L$-functions, they are the natural limit of the first moment method pioneered by Li and by Blomer. The method of proof relies on an explicit $\mathrm{GL}_3 \times \mathrm{GL}_2 \leftrightsquigarrow \mathrm{GL}_4 \times \mathrm{GL}_1$ spectral reciprocity formula, which relates a $\mathrm{GL}_2$ moment of $\mathrm{GL}_3 \times \mathrm{GL}_2$ Rankin-Selberg $L$-functions to a $\mathrm{GL}_1$ moment of $\mathrm{GL}_4 \times \mathrm{GL}_1$ Rankin-Selberg $L$-functions. A key additional input is a Lindelöf-on-average upper bound for the second moment of Dirichlet $L$-functions restricted to a coset, which is of independent interest.

Abstract:Let $\psi$ be an $L^2$-normalized Hecke-Maass form with a large spectral parameter $\lambda>0$ on a compact arithmetic congruence hyperbolic 3-manifold $X=\Gamma\backslash\mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb{C})/\mathrm{SU}(2)$, and let $Y$ be a totally geodesic surface in $X$ with bounded diameter. The local $L^2$-bound for the restriction of $\psi$ to $Y$ is $\|\psi|_Y \|_{L^2(Y)}\ll\lambda^{1/4}$ by Burq, Gérard, and Tzvetkov. We apply the method of arithmetic amplification developed by Iwaniec and Sarnak to obtain a power saving over the local bound. The new feature in the proof is that we establish two different estimates for the integrals of $\psi|_Y$ against geodesic beams over $Y$ via two amplification arguments. Combining these estimates, we can improve the local bound for generalized Fourier coefficients of $\psi|_Y$ against eigenfunctions on $Y$ with spectral parameters near $\lambda$. We also apply the amplification method to obtain a power saving over the trivial bound $O(1)$ for $L^2$-norms of $\psi$ restricted to $\lambda^{-1/2}$-neighborhoods of unit-length geodesic segments. Consequently, we obtain power savings over the local $L^p$-bounds of $\psi$ by Sogge for $2<p<4$ from our improvement for the Kakeya-Nikodym bound.

Abstract:Let $\pi$ be an irreducible unitary cuspidal representation of $GL_m({\Bbb A}_{\Bbb Q})$ and $L(s,\,\pi)$ be the global $L-$function attached to $\pi$. If ${\rm Re}(s)>1$, $L(s,\,\pi)$ has a Dirichlet series expression. When $\pi$ is self-contragradient, all the coefficients of Dirichlet series are real. In this note, we shall give non-trivial lower bounds for the number of positive and negative coefficients respectively, which is an improvement on the recent work of Jianya Liu and Jie Wu.

Abstract:It is a folklore result in arithmetic quantum chaos that quantum unique ergodicity on the modular surface with an effective rate of convergence follows from subconvex bounds for certain triple product $L$-functions. The physical space manifestation of this result, namely the equidistribution of mass of Hecke-Maass cusp forms, was proven to follow from subconvexity by Watson, whereas the phase space manifestation of quantum unique ergodicity has only previously appeared in the literature for Eisenstein series via work of Jakobson. We detail the analogous phase space result for Hecke-Maass cusp forms. The proof relies on the Watson-Ichino triple product formula together with a careful analysis of certain archimedean integrals of Whittaker functions.
