Abstract:We verify that if M is a compact minimal submanifold with boundary in a Cartan–Hadamard manifold N, then $$\sum \nolimits _{i=1}^{k}\lambda _i\ge \frac{2n\pi }{e}k^{\frac{n+2}{n}}{{\,\mathrm{vol}\,}}(M)^{-\frac{2}{n}}$$, where $$\lambda _i$$ is the ith Dirichlet eigenvalue of the Laplacian on M. This provides an evidence for that the generalized Pólya conjecture is true. We also prove that if M is a complete and non-compact minimal submanifold in a Cartan–Hadamard manifold N, then $$\gamma _n N_\alpha (V)\le \int _M(V-\alpha )_{-}^{n/2}(x)dx$$, where $$N_\alpha (V)$$ is the number of eigenvalues($$\le \alpha $$) of the Schrödinger operator $$-\Delta +V$$ on M and $$\gamma _n$$ is an explicit positive constant depending only on n.

Abstract:In this paper we take up the classical sup-norm problem for automorphic forms and view it from a new angle. Given a twist minimal automorphic representation we consider a special small -type V in and prove global sup-norm bounds for an average over an orthonormal basis of V. We achieve a non-trivial saving when the dimension of V grows.

Abstract:Let $N$ be a prime and $\phi$ be a Hecke-Maass cuspidal newform for the Hecke congruence subgroup $\Gamma_0(N)$ in $\operatorname{SL}_n(\mathbb{R})$. Let $\Omega$ be an adelic compactum and let $\Omega_N$ be its projection to $\Gamma_0(N) \backslash \operatorname{SL}_n(\mathbb{R}) / \operatorname{SO}(n)$. For any prime $n$, we prove sub-baseline bounds for the sup-norm of $\phi$ restricted to $\Omega_N$. Conditionally on GRH, we generalise this result to all $n \geq 2$. The methods involve a new reduction theory with level structure, based on generalisations of Atkin-Lehner operators.

Abstract:Let $\pi'$ be a fixed unitary cuspidal representation of $\mathrm{GL}(n)/\mathbb{Q}.$ We establish a subconvex bound in the $t$-aspect $$ L(1/2+it,\pi\times\pi')\ll_{\pi,\pi',\varepsilon}(1+|t|)^{\frac{n(n+1)}{4}-\frac{1}{4\cdot (4n^2+2n-1)}+\varepsilon}, $$ for any unitary pure isobaric automorphic representation $\pi$ of $\mathrm{GL}(n+1)/\mathbb{Q}.$ Moreover, the bound improves in the standard $L$-function case $$ L(1/2+it, \pi')\ll_{\pi',\varepsilon}(1+|t|)^{\frac{n}{4}-\frac{1}{4(n+1)(4n-1)}+\varepsilon}. $$ We also prove an explicit lower bound for nonvanishing of central $L$-values $$ \sum_{\pi\in\mathcal{A}_0}\textbf{1}_{L(1/2,\pi\times\pi')\neq 0}\gg_{\varepsilon}|\mathcal{A}_0|^{\frac{1}{n(n+1)(4n^2+2n-1)}-\varepsilon}, $$ for a suitable finite family $\mathcal{A}_0$ of unitary cuspidal representations of $\mathrm{GL}(n+1)/\mathbb{Q}.$ More generally, we address the spectral side subconvexity in the case of uniform parameter growth, and a quantitative form of simultaneous nonvanishing of central $L$-values for $\mathrm{GL}(n+1)\times\mathrm{GL}(n)$ (over $\mathbb{Q}$) in both level and eigenvalue aspects. Among other ingredients, our proofs employ a new relative trace formula in conjunction with P. Nelson's construction of archimedean test functions in \cite{Nel21} and volume estimates in \cite{Nel20}.

Abstract:We study the subconvexity problem for $GL_{3}(R)$ $L$-functions in the t-aspect using integral representations by combining techniques employed by Michel-Venkatesh in their study of the corresponding problem for $GL_{2}$ with ideas from recent works of Munshi, Holowinsky-Nelson and Lin. Our main objective is to give - from the perspective of integral representations of $L$-functions and automorphic representation theory - a possible explanation of the origin of the "key identity" arising in the latter series of works.

Abstract: In this paper we study the subconvexity problem for the Rankin-Selberg L-function and triple product L-function, allowing joint ramifications and conductor dropping range. We first extend the method of Michel-Venkatesh to reduce the bounds for L-functions to local conjectures on test vectors, then verify these local conjectures under certain conditions, giving new subconvex bounds as long as the representations are not completely related.

Abstract:We prove the unbounded denominators conjecture in the theory of noncongruence modular forms for finite index subgroups of SL_2(Z). Our result includes also Mason's generalization of the original conjecture to the setting of vector-valued modular forms, thereby supplying a new path to the congruence property in rational conformal field theory. The proof involves a new arithmetic holonomicity bound of a potential-theoretic flavor, together with Nevanlinna's second main theorem, the congruence subgroup property of SL_2(Z[1/p]), and a close description of the Fuchsian uniformization D(0,1)/\Gamma_N of the Riemann surface C \setminus \mu_N.

Abstract:Let $\Gamma$ be a non-uniform lattice in $SL(2, \mathbb R)$. In this paper, we study various $L^2$-norms of automorphic representations of $SL(2, \mathbb R)$. We bound these norms with intrinsic norms defined on the representation. Comparison of these norms will help us understand the growth of $L$-functions in a systematic way.

Abstract:We investigate the $p$-essential normality of Hilbert quotient submodules on a relatively compact smooth strongly pseudoconvex domain in a complex manifold satisfying Property (S). For analytic subvarieties that have compact singularities and transversely intersect the strongly pseudoconvex boundary, we prove that the corresponding Bergman-Sobolev quotient submodules are $p$-essentially normal whenever $p$ exceeds the dimension of the noncompact part of the analytic subvarieties. As a consequence, we partially confirm the geometric Arveson-Douglas Conjecture and resolve an open problem regarding the trace-class antisymmetric sum of truncated Toeplitz operators within a broader context. Moreover, we provide applications in $K$-homology and geometric invariant theory.

Abstract:Let pi be a cuspidal automorphic representation of PGL(2)(A(Q)) of arithmetic conductor C and archimedean parameter T, and let phi be an L-2-normalized automorphic form in the space of m. The sup-norm problem asks for bounds on parallel to phi parallel to(infinity) in terms of C and T. The quantum unique ergodicity (QUE) problem concerns the limiting behavior of the L-2-mass vertical bar phi vertical bar(2)(g) dg of phi. Previous work on these problems in the conductor-aspect has focused on the case that is a newform. In this work, we study these problems for a class of automorphic forms that are not newforms. Precisely, we assume that for each prime divisor p of C, the local component pi(p) is supercuspidal (and satisfies some additional technical hypotheses), and consider automorphic forms phi for which the local components phi(p) is an element of pi(p) are "minimal" vectors. Such vectors may be understood as non-archimedean analogues of lowest weight vectors in holomorphic discrete series representations of PGL(2) (R). For automorphic forms as above, we prove a sup -norm bound that is sharper than what is known in the newform case. In particular, if pi(infinity) is a holomorphic discrete series of lowest weight k, we obtain the optimal bound C(1/8-is an element of)k(1/-is an element of) <<(is an element of) vertical bar phi vertical bar(infinity) <<(is an element of) C(1/8 +is an element of)k(1/4+is an element of). We prove also that these forms give analytic test vectors for the QUE period, thereby demonstrating the equivalence between the strong QUE and the subconvexity problems for this class of vectors. This finding contrasts the known failure of this equivalence [3 1] for newforms of powerful level.

Abstract:Let $\Gamma\subsetneq \mathrm{Sp}_n(\mathbb{R})$ be an arithmetic subgroup of the symplectic group $\mathrm{Sp}_n(\mathbb{R})$ acting on the Siegel upper half-space $\mathbb{H}_n$ of degree $n$. Consider the $d$-dimensional space of Siegel cusp forms $\mathcal{S}_{\kappa}^n(\Gamma)$ of weight $\kappa$ for $\Gamma$ and let $\{f_j\}_{1\leq j\leq d}$ be a basis of $\mathcal{S}_{\kappa}^n(\Gamma)$ orthonormal with respect to the Petersson inner product. In this paper we show using the heat kernel method that the sup-norm of the quantity $S_{\kappa}^{\Gamma}(Z):=\sum_{j=1}^{d}\det (Y)^{\kappa}\vert{f_j(Z)}\vert^2\,(Z\in\mathbb{H}_n)$ is bounded above by $c_{n,\Gamma} {\kappa}^{n(n+1)/2}$ when $M:=\Gamma\backslash\mathbb{H}_n$ is compact and by $c_{n,\Gamma} {\kappa}^{3n(n+1)/4}$ when $M$ is non-compact of finite volume, where $c_{n,\Gamma}$ denotes a positive real constant depending only on the degree $n$ and the group $\Gamma$. Furthermore, we show that this bound is uniform in the sense that if we fix a group $\Gamma_0$ and take $\Gamma$ to be a subgroup of $\Gamma_0$ of finite index, then the constant $c_{n,\Gamma}$ in these bounds depends only on the degree $n$ and the fixed group $\Gamma_0$.

Abstract:We obtain an upper bound for the dimension of the cuspidal automorphic forms for $\mathrm{GL}_2$ over a number field, whose archimedean local representations are not tempered. More precisely, we prove the following result. Let $F$ be a number field and $\mathbb{A}_{F}$ be the ring of adeles of $F$. Let $\mathcal{O}_{F}$ be the ring of integers of $F$. Let $\mathfrak{X}_{F,\mathrm{ex}}$ be the set of irreducible cuspidal automorphic representations $\pi$ of $\mathrm{GL}_2(\mathbb{A}_{F})$ with the trivial central character such that for each archimedean place $v$ of $F$, the local representation of $\pi$ at $v$ is an unramified principal series and is not tempered. Abstract:Let $\pi$ traverse a sequence of cuspidal automorphic representations of GL(2) with large prime level, unramified central character and bounded infinity type. For G either of the groups GL(1) or PGL(2), let H(G) denote the assertion that subconvexity holds for G-twists of the adjoint $L$-function of $\pi$, with polynomial dependence upon the conductor of the twist. We show that H(GL(1)) implies H(PGL(2)). In geometric terms, H(PGL(2)) corresponds roughly to an instance of arithmetic quantum unique ergodicity with a power savings in the error term, H(GL(1)) to the special case in which the relevant sequence of measures is tested against an Eisenstein series.
