Abstract:We consider an embedded general complex torus $C_n$ into a complex manifold $M_{n+d}$ with a unitary flat normal bundle $N_C$. We show the existence of (non-singular) holomorphic foliation in a neighborhood of $C$ in $M$ having $C$ as leaf under some conditions.

Abstract:This article studies codimension one foliations on projective man-ifolds having a compact leaf (free of singularities). It explores the interplay between Ueda theory (order of flatness of the normal bundle) and the holo-nomy representation (dynamics of the foliation in the transverse direction). We address in particular the following problems: existence of foliation having as a leaf a given hypersurface with topologically torsion normal bundle, global structure of foliations having a compact leaf whose holonomy is abelian (resp. solvable), and factorization results.

Abstract:We study foliations by curves on the three-dimensional projective space with no isolated singularities, which is equivalent to assuming that the conormal sheaf is locally free. We provide a classification of the topological and algebraic invariants of the conormal sheaves and singular schemes for such foliations by curves, up to degree 3. In particular, we prove that foliations by curves of degree 1 or 2 are contained in a pencil of planes or are Legendrian, and are given by the complete intersection of two codimension one distributions. Furthermore, we prove that the conormal sheaf of a foliation by curves of degree 3 with reduced singular scheme either splits as a sum of line bundles or is an instanton bundle. For degree larger than 3, we focus on two classes of foliations by curves, namely Legendrian foliations and those whose conormal sheaf is a twisted null-correlation bundle. We give characterizations of such foliations, describe their singular schemes and their moduli spaces.

Abstract:We show that a singular Riemannian foliation of codimension two on a compact simply-connected Riemannian $(n+2)$-manifold, with regular leaves homeomorphic to the $n$-torus, is given by a smooth effective $n$-torus action. This solves in the negative for the codimension $2$ case a question about the existence of foliations by exotic tori on simply-connected manifolds.

We prove that either $\mathcal{F}$ is algebraically integrable, or $\mathcal{F}$ is the linear pull-back of a degree-2 foliation by curves on $\mathbb{P}^{n-k+1}$, or $\mathcal{F}$ is a logarithmic foliation of type $(1^{n-k +1},2)$, or $\mathcal{F}$ is a logarithmic foliation of type $(1^{n-k+3})$, or $\mathcal{F}$ is the linear pull-back of a degree-2 foliation of dimension 2 on $\mathbb{P}^{n-k+2}$ tangent to an action of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{aff}(\mathbb{C})$. As a byproduct, we describe the geometry of Poisson structures on $\mathbb{P}^n$ with generic rank two.

Abstract:In this paper we study geometrical and dynamical properties of codimension one foliations, by exploring a relation between length averages and ball averages of certain group actions. We introduce a new mechanism, which relies on the group structure itself, to obtain irregular behavior of ball averages for certain non-amenable group actions. Several geometric realization results show that any such groups can appear connected with the topology of leaves which are connected sums of plugs with a special geometry, namely nearly equidistant boundary components. This is used to produce the first examples of codimension one $\mathcal C^\infty$ regular foliations on a compact Riemannian manifold $M$ for which the length average of some continuous function does not exist on a non-empty open subset of $M$.

Abstract:In this paper we aim at the description of foliations having tangent sheaf $T\mathcal F$ with $c_1(T\mathcal F)=c_2(T\mathcal F)=0$ on non-uniruled projective manifolds. We prove that the universal covering of the ambient manifold splits as a product, and that the Zariski closure of a general leaf of $\mathcal F$ is an Abelian variety. It turns out that the analytic type of the Zariski closures of leaves may vary from leaf to leaf. We discuss how this variation is related to arithmetic properties of the tangent sheaf of the foliation.

Abstract:We present how to collapse a manifold equipped with a closed flat regular Riemannian foliation with leaves of positive dimension on a compact manifold, while keeping the sectional curvature uniformly bounded from above and below. From this deformation, we show that a closed flat regular Riemannian foliation with leaves of positive dimension on a compact simply-connected manifold is given by torus actions. This gives a geometric characterization of aspherical regular Riemannian foliations given by torus actions.

Abstract:We provide examples of foliations on the complex projective plane $\CP^2$ carrying positive foliated harmonic currents whose supports coincide with singular Levi-flats which, in turn, can be chosen real-analytic (but non-algebraic) or merely continuous with fractal transverse nature. Furthermore, non-trivial examples as above can already be found among foliations of degree~$2$ and~$3$. In addition, the space of positive foliated harmonic currents for these foliations is fully characterised and it contains a unique harmonic (non-closed) current supported on the Levi-flat in question. Finally, we also provide examples of foliations carrying diffuse positive foliated closed currents related to a theorem due to Brunella as well as a general criterion for the existence of singular real analytic Levi-flats for Riccati foliations.
