Abstract:We consider an embedded general complex torus $C_n$ into a complex manifold $M_{n+d}$ with a unitary flat normal bundle $N_C$. We show the existence of (non-singular) holomorphic foliation in a neighborhood of $C$ in $M$ having $C$ as leaf under some conditions.

Abstract:We prove that every closed, smooth $n$-manifold $X$ admits a Riemannian metric together with a smooth, transversely oriented CMC foliation if and only if its Euler characteristic is zero, where by CMC foliation we mean a codimension-one, transversely oriented foliation with leaves of constant mean curvature and where the value of the constant mean curvature can vary from leaf to leaf. Furthermore, we prove that this CMC foliation of $X$ can be chosen so that the constant values of the mean curvatures of its leaves change sign. We also prove a general structure theorem for any such non-minimal CMC foliation of $X$ that describes relationships between the geometry and topology of the leaves, including the property that there exist compact leaves for every attained value of the mean curvature.

Abstract:This article studies codimension one foliations on projective man-ifolds having a compact leaf (free of singularities). It explores the interplay between Ueda theory (order of flatness of the normal bundle) and the holo-nomy representation (dynamics of the foliation in the transverse direction). We address in particular the following problems: existence of foliation having as a leaf a given hypersurface with topologically torsion normal bundle, global structure of foliations having a compact leaf whose holonomy is abelian (resp. solvable), and factorization results.

Abstract:We show that a singular Riemannian foliation of codimension two on a compact simply-connected Riemannian $(n+2)$-manifold, with regular leaves homeomorphic to the $n$-torus, is given by a smooth effective $n$-torus action. This solves in the negative for the codimension $2$ case a question about the existence of foliations by exotic tori on simply-connected manifolds.

Abstract:We consider an embedded $n$-dimensional compact complex manifold in $n+d$ dimensional complex manifolds. We are interested in the holomorphic classification of neighborhoods as part of Grauert's formal principle program. We will give conditions ensuring that a neighborhood of $C_n$ in $M_{n+d}$ is biholomorphic to a neighborhood of the zero section of its normal bundle. This extends Arnold's result about neighborhoods of a complex torus in a surface. We also prove the existence of a holomorphic foliation in $M_{n+d }$ having $C_n$ as a compact leaf, extending Ueda's theory to the high codimension case. Both problems appear as a kind linearization problem involving small divisors condition arising from solutions to their cohomological equations.

Abstract:We construct explicit complex structures and transversely Kähler holomorphic foliations on $SU(3)$ corresponding to variations of real quadratic equations on a complex quadric in $\mathbb{C}^{6}$ as generalizations of left-invariant complex structures on $SU(3) $ and an invariant Kähler structure on the flag variety $SU(3)/T$.Consequently, we obtain orbifold variants of the flag variety $SU(3)/T$ as quotients of double sided torus actions.

Abstract:In this paper we aim at the description of foliations having tangent sheaf $T\mathcal F$ with $c_1(T\mathcal F)=c_2(T\mathcal F)=0$ on non-uniruled projective manifolds. We prove that the universal covering of the ambient manifold splits as a product, and that the Zariski closure of a general leaf of $\mathcal F$ is an Abelian variety. It turns out that the analytic type of the Zariski closures of leaves may vary from leaf to leaf. We discuss how this variation is related to arithmetic properties of the tangent sheaf of the foliation.

Abstract:A principal torus bundle over a complex manifold with even dimensional fiber and characteristic class of type $(1,1)$ admits a family of regular generalized complex structures (GCS) with the fibers as leaves of the associated symplectic foliation. We show that such a generalized complex structure is equivalent to the product of the complex structure on the base and the symplectic structure on the fiber in a tubular neighborhood of an arbitrary fiber if and only if the bundle is flat. This has consequences for the generalized Dolbeault cohomology of the bundle that includes a Künneth formula. On a more general note, if a principal bundle over a complex manifold with a symplectic structure group admits a GCS with the fibers of the bundle as leaves of the associated symplectic foliation, and the GCS is equivalent to a product GCS in a neighborhood of every fiber, then the bundle is flat and symplectic.

Abstract:We describe the basic cohomology ring of the canonical holomorphic foliation on a moment-angle manifold, LVMB-manifold or any complex manifold with a maximal holomorphic torus action. Namely, we show that the basic cohomology has a description similar to the cohomology ring of a complete simplicial toric variety due to Danilov and Jurkiewicz. This settles a question of Battaglia and Zaffran, who previously computed the basic Betti numbers for the canonical holomorphic foliation in the case of a shellable fan. Our proof uses an Eilenberg-Moore spectral sequence argument; the key ingredient is the formality of the Cartan model for the torus action on a moment-angle manifold. We develop the concept of transverse equivalence as an important tool for studying smooth and holomorphic foliated manifolds. For an arbitrary complex manifold with a maximal torus action, we show that it is transverse equivalent to a moment-angle manifold and therefore has the same basic cohomology.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a Stein manifold of complex dimension $n>1$ endowed with a Riemannian metric $\mathfrak{g}$. We show that for every integer $k$ with $\left[\frac{n}{2}\right] \le k \le n-1$ there is a nonsingular holomorphic foliation of dimension $k$ on $X$ all of whose leaves are topologically closed and $\mathfrak{g}$-complete. The same is true if $1\le k<\left[\frac{n}{2}\right]$ provided that there is a complex vector bundle epimorphism $TX\to X\times\mathbb{C}^{n-k}$. We also show that if $\mathcal{F}$ is a proper holomorphic foliation on $\mathbb{C}^n$ $(n>1)$ then for any Riemannian metric $\mathfrak{g}$ on $\mathbb{C}^n$ there is a holomorphic automorphism $\Phi$ of $\mathbb{C}^n$ such that the image foliation $\Phi_*\mathcal{F}$ is $\mathfrak{g}$-complete. The analogous result is obtained on every Stein manifold with Varolin's density property.

Abstract:We show that the isolated invariant branches globalize to algebraic curves, when we consider weak toric type complex hyperbolic foliations on projective toric ambient surfaces. To do it, we pass through a characterization of weak toric type foliations in terms of "non-degeneracy" conditions, associated to Newton polygons. We also give a description of the relationship between invariant algebraic curves and isolated invariant branches, valid for the case of toric type, by means of the following dichotomy. Either there is a rational first integral and there are no isolated invariant branches or we have only finitely many global invariant curves, all of them extending isolated invariant branches.

Abstract:We show that if a connected compact kählerian surface $M$ with nonpositive gaussian curvature is furnished with a closed conformal vector field $\xi$ whose singular points are isolated, then $M$ is isometric to a flat torus and $\xi$ is parallel. We also consider the case of a connected complete kählerian manifod $M$ of complex dimension $n>1$ and furnished with a nontrivial closed conformal vector field $\xi$. In this case, it is well known that the singularities of $\xi$ are automatically isolated and the nontrivial leaves of the distribution generated by $\xi$ and $J\xi$ are totally geodesic in $M$. Assuming that one such leaf is compact, has torsion normal holonomy group and that the holomorphic sectional curvature of $M$ along it is nonpositive, we show that $\xi$ is parallel and $M$ is foliated by a family of totally geodesic isometric tori and also by a family of totally geodesic isometric complete kählerian manifolds of complex dimension $n-1$. In particular, the the universal covering of $M$ is isometric to a riemannian product having $\mathbb R^2$ as a factor. We also present a generic example showing that one cannot get rid of the hypothesis on the nonpositivity of the holomorphic sectional curvature along at least one such leaf.

Abstract:We generalize classical theorems due to Lichnerowicz and Hitchin on the existence of Riemannian metrics of positive scalar curvature on spin manifolds to the case of foliated spin manifolds. As a consequence, we show that there is no foliation of positive leafwise scalar curvature on any torus, which generalizes the famous theorem of Schoen-Yau and Gromov-Lawson on the non-existence of metrics of positive scalar curvature on torus to the case of foliations. Moreover, our method, which is partly inspired by the analytic localization techniques of Bismut-Lebeau, also applies to give a new proof of the celebrated Connes vanishing theorem without using noncommutative geometry.
