Abstract: Let $G$ be a real reductive group in Harish-Chandra's class. We derive some consequences of theory of coherent continuation representations to the counting of irreducible representations of $G$ with a given infinitesimal character and a given bound of the complex associated variety. When $G$ is a real classical group (including the real metaplectic group), we investigate the set of special unipotent representations of $G$ attached to $\check{\mathcal O}$, in the sense of Arthur and Barbasch-Vogan. Here $\check{\mathcal O}$ is a nilpotent adjoint orbit in the Langlands dual of $G$ (or the metaplectic dual of $G$ when $G$ is a real metaplectic group). We give a precise count for the number of special unipotent representations of $G$ attached to $\check{ \mathcal O}$. We also reduce the problem of constructing special unipotent representations attached to $\check{\mathcal O}$ to the case when $\check{\mathcal O}$ is analytically even (equivalently for a real classical group, has good parity in the sense of M{\oe}glin). The paper is the first in a series of two papers on the classification of special unipotent representations of real classical groups.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a full classification of the unitary dual of $G = U(n,2)$ for $n \geq 3$. As a consequence, we determine which of these representations are weakly fair $A_{\mathfrak{q}}(\lambda)$-modules or special unipotent representations, resulting in a verification of a conjecture of Trapa and Vogan for $G$.

Abstract:Let $mathbf G$ be a complex orthogonal or complex symplectic group, and let $G$ be a real form of $mathbf G$, namely $G$ is a real orthogonal group, a real symplectic group, a quaternionic orthogonal group, or a quaternionic symplectic group. For a fixed parity $mathbb pin mathbb Z/2mathbb Z$, we define a set $mathrm{Nil}^{mathbb p}_{mathbf G}(mathfrak g)$ of nilpotent $mathbf G$-orbits $mathfrak g$ (the Lie algebra of $mathbf G$). When $mathbb p$ is the parity of the dimension of the standard module of $mathbf G$, this is the set of the stably trivial special nilpotent orbits, which includes all rigid special nilpotent orbits. For each $mathcal O in mathrm{Nil}^{mathbb p}_{mathbf G}(mathfrak g)$, we construct all unipotent representations of $G$ (or its metaplectic cover when $G$ is a real symplectic group and $mathbb p$ is odd) attached to $mathcal O$ via the method of theta lifting and show particular that they are unitary.

Let $\mathfrak{g} = \mathfrak{k} \oplus \mathfrak{p}$ and $\mathfrak{h} = \mathfrak{t} \oplus \mathfrak{a}$ be the corresponding complexifications. The set $\Delta {\left( {\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{t}} \right)}$ consists of all the linear forms on $\mathfrak{t}$ which are the restriction to $\mathfrak{t}$ of the roots in the root system $\Delta {\left( {\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}} \right)}$ of $\mathfrak{g}$ with respect to $\mathfrak{h}$. Abstract:We provide a procedure for generating the irreducible representations of crystallography groups in any dimension. We also furnish a strategy to investigate the topology of the unitary dual of a crystallography group using sequences of matrices. All irreducible representations (up to unitary equivalence) of the dimension 3 crystallography group 90 and some calculations involving sequences of these irreducible representations are included as a proof of concept of this procedure and strategy.

Abstract:We demonstrate that multipartite entanglement is able to characterize one-dimensional symmetry-protected topological order, which is witnessed by the scaling behavior of the quantum Fisher information of the ground state with respect to the spin operators defined in the dual lattice. We investigate an extended Kitaev chain with a Z symmetry identified equivalently by winding numbers and paired Majorana zero modes at each end. The topological phases with high winding numbers are detected by the scaling coefficient of the quantum Fisher information density with respect to generators in different dual lattices. Containing richer properties and more complex structures than bipartite entanglement, the dual multipartite entanglement of the topological state has promising applications in robust quantum computation and quantum metrology, and can be generalized to identify topological order in the Kitaev honeycomb model.

Abstract:Let G be one of the classical groups GL(n), U(n), O(n) or Sp(2n), over a nonarchimedean local field of characteristic zero. It is well known that the contragredient of an irreducible admissible smooth representation of G is isomorphic to a twist of it by an automorphism of G. We prove that similar results hold for double covers of G that occur in the study of local theta correspondences.

Abstract:Let v be the right regular representation of a compact quantum group G. Then (<a class="link-external link-http" href="http://S.L.Woronowicz" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a>, "Compact quantum groups") v contains all irreducible representations of G and each irreducible representation enters v with the multiplicity equal to its dimension. The result is certainly known for classical compact groups. We give a short survey on the subject and provide a different proof of Woronowicz's result above. The proof is an adaptation of the corresponding result for classical compact groups and provides a concrete decomposition of the right regular representation in irreducible components.

Abstract:Symmetry protected states (SPT's) of quantum spin systems were studied by several authors. For one-dimensional systems (spin chains), there is an essentially complete and rigorous understanding: SPT's corresponding to finite on-site symmetry groups $G$ are classified by the second cohomology group $H^2(G,U(1))$, as established by Kapustin et al. [J. Math. Phys. (2021)]. We extend this result to the case of compact topological symmetry groups $G$. We also strengthen the existing results in the sense that our classification results holds within the class of spin chains with locally bounded on-site dimensions.

Abstract:We construct unitary irreducible representation of the de Sitter group, that forms the basis for the study of $dS_{d+1}$ QFT. Using the intertwining kernel analysis, we discuss bosonic symmetric tensor, and fermionic higher-spinors. Particular care is given to the structure and construction of exceptional series and fermionic operators. We discuss the discrete series, and explain how and why the exceptional series give rise to seemingly non-invariant correlators in de Sitter. Using tools from Clifford analysis, we show that for $d>3$, there are no exceptional fermionic representations, and so no unitary (higher)-gravitino fields. We also consider the structure of representations for $d=3$ and $d=2$, as relevant for the study of $dS_4$, the only space allowing for unitary gravitino and its generalisation, and of $dS_3$.

Classifying symmetric and symmetry-broken spin chain phases with anomalous group actions

Abstract:We consider the classification problem of quantum spin chains invariant under local decomposable group actions, covering matrix product unitaries (MPUs), using an operator algebraic approach. We focus on finite group symmetries hosting both symmetric and symmetry broken phases. The local-decomposable group actions we consider have a 3-cocycle class of the symmetry group associated to them. We derive invariants for our classification that naturally cover one-dimensional symmetry protected topological (SPT) phases. We prove that these invariants coincide with the ones of [J. Garre Rubio et al, Quantum 7, 927 (2023)] using matrix product states (MPSs) techniques, by explicitly working out the GNS representation of MPSs and MPUs, resulting in a useful dictionary between both approaches that could be of independent interest.

Abstract:In this paper, towards the unitary dual problem for classical groups, we propose a refinement of a conjecture of M. Tadić: A representation of good parity is unitary if and only if it is of Arthur type; and a conjectural description of the whole unitary dual. We verify them for representations of corank at most $3$ for symplectic or split odd special orthogonal groups, based on Tadić's classification. To this end, we develop new algorithms to determine whether a given irreducible representation is of Arthur type and give an inductive approach to classify the family of unitary representations that are of Arthur type. As applications, we carry out the explicit list on representations of Arthur type with corank at most $3$, and classify several new families of representations of Arthur type.

Abstract:Following the method of induced group representations of Wigner-Mackay, the explicit construction of all the unitary irreducible representations of the discrete finite Heisenberg-Weyl group $HW_{2^s}$ over the discrete phase space lattice $Z_{2^s}$ $\otimes$ $Z_{2^s}$ is presented. We explicitly determine their characters and their fusion rules. We discuss possible physical applications for finite quantum mechanics and quantum computation.

Abstract:We realize all irreducible unitary representations of the group $\mathrm{SO}_0(n+1,1)$ on explicit Hilbert spaces of vector-valued $L^2$-functions on $\mathbb{R}^n\setminus\{0\}$. The key ingredient in our construction is an explicit expression for the standard Knapp-Stein intertwining operators between arbitrary principal series representations in terms of the Euclidean Fourier transform on a maximal unipotent subgroup isomorphic to $\mathbb{R}^n$. As an application, we describe the space of Whittaker vectors on all irreducible Casselman-Wallach representations. Moreover, the new realizations of the irreducible unitary representations immediately reveal their decomposition into irreducible representations of a parabolic subgroup, thus providing a simple proof of a recent result of Liu-Oshima-Yu.
