Abstract:There is a surge of research devoted to the formalism and physical manifestations of non-Lorentzian kinematical symmetries, which focuses especially on the ones associated with the Galilei and Carroll relativistic limits (the speed of light taken to infinity or to zero, respectively). The investigations have also been extended to quantum deformations of the Carrollian and Galilean symmetries, in the sense of (quantum) Hopf algebras. The case of 2+1 dimensions is particularly worth to study due to both the mathematical nature of the corresponding (classical) theory of gravity, and the recently finalized classification of all quantum-deformed algebras of spacetime isometries. Consequently, the list of all quantum deformations of (anti-)de Sitter-Carroll algebra is immediately provided by its well-known isomorphism with either Poincaré or Euclidean algebra. Quantum contractions from the (anti-)de Sitter to (anti-)de Sitter-Carroll classification allow to almost completely recover the latter. One may therefore conjecture that the analogous contractions from the (anti-)de Sitter to (anti-)de Sitter-Galilei $r$-matrices provide (almost) all coboundary deformations of (anti-)de Sitter-Galilei algebra. This scheme is complemented by deriving (Carrollian and Galilean) quantum contractions of deformations of Poincaré algebra, leading to coboundary deformations of Carroll and Galilei algebras.

Relative Entropy of Fermion Excitation States on the CAR Algebra

Abstract:The relative entropy of certain states on the algebra of canonical anticommutation relations (CAR) is studied in the present work. The CAR algebra is used to describe fermionic degrees of freedom in quantum mechanics and quantum field theory. The states for which the relative entropy is investigated are multi-excitation states (similar to multi-particle states) with respect to KMS states defined with respect to a time-evolution induced by a unitary dynamical group on the one-particle Hilbert space of the CAR algebra. If the KMS state is quasifree, the relative entropy of multi-excitation states can be explicitly calculated in terms of 2-point functions, which are defined entirely by the one-particle Hilbert space defining the CAR algebra and the Hamilton operator of the dynamical group on the one-particle Hilbert space. This applies also in the case that the one-particle Hilbert space Hamilton operator has a continuous spectrum so that the relative entropy of multi-excitation states cannot be defined in terms of von Neumann entropies. The results obtained here for the relative entropy of multi-excitation states on the CAR algebra can be viewed as counterparts of results for the relative entropy of coherent states on the algebra of canonical commutation relations (CCR) which have appeared recently. It turns out to be useful to employ the setting of a self-dual CAR algebra introduced by Araki.

On non-commutative spreadability

Abstract:We review some results on spreadable quantum stochastic processes and present the structure of some monoids acting on the index-set of all integers $\mathbb Z$. These semigroups are strictly related to spreadability, as the latter can be directly stated in terms of invariance with respect to their action. We are mainly focused on spreadable, Boolean, monotone, and $q$-deformed processes. In particular, we give a suitable version of the Ryll-Nardzewski Theorem in the aforementioned cases.

Abstract:We present an approach to a non-commutative-like phase space which allows to analyze quasi-free states on the CAR algebra in analogy to quasi-free states on the CCR algebra. The used mathematical tools are based on a new algebraic structure the "Grassmann algebra of canonical anti-commutation relations" (GAR algebra) which is given by the twisted tensor product of a Grassmann and a CAR algebra. As a new application, the corresponding theory provides an elegant tool for calculating the fidelity of two quasi-free fermionic states which is needed for the study of entanglement distillation within fermionic systems.

Abstract:Quantum symmetry of graph $C^{*}$-algebras has been studied, under the consideration of different formulations, in the past few years. It is already known that the compact quantum group $(\underbrace{C(S^{1})*C(S^{1})*\cdots *C(S^{1})}_{|E(\Gamma)|-times}, \Delta) $ always acts on a graph $C^*$-algebra for a finite, connected, directed graph $\Gamma$ in the category introduced by Joardar and Mandal, where $|E(\Gamma)|:=$ number of edges in $\Gamma$. In this article, we show that for a certain class of graphs including Toeplitz algebra, quantum odd sphere, matrix algebra etc. the quantum symmetry of their associated graph $C^*$-algebras remains $(\underbrace{C(S^{1})*C(S^{1})*\cdots *C(S^{1})}_{|E(\Gamma)|-times}, \Delta) $ in the category as mentioned before. More precisely, if a finite, connected, directed graph $\Gamma$ satisfies the following graph theoretic properties : (i) there does not exist any cycle of length $\geq$ 2 (ii) there exists a path of length $(|V(\Gamma)|-1)$ which consists all the vertices, where $|V(\Gamma)|:=$ number of vertices in $\Gamma$ (iii) given any two vertices (may not be distinct) there exists at most one edge joining them, then the universal object coincides with $(\underbrace{C(S^{1})*C(S^{1})*\cdots *C(S^{1})}_{|E(\Gamma)|-times}, \Delta) $. Furthermore, we have pointed out a few counter examples whenever the above assumptions are violated.

Abstract:We demonstrate that commutativity of numerous one-dimensional subalgebras in $W_{1+\infty}$ algebra, i.e. the existence of many non-trivial integrable systems described in recent <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2303.05273" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2303.05273">arXiv:2303.05273</a> follows from the subset of relations in algebra known as Serre relations. No other relations are needed for commutativity. The Serre relations survive the deformation to the affine Yangian $Y(\hat{\mathfrak{gl}}_1)$, hence the commutative subalgebras do as well. A special case of the Yangian parameters corresponds to the $\beta$-deformation. The preservation of Serre relations can be thought of a selection rule for proper systems of commuting $\beta$-deformed Hamiltonians. On the contrary, commutativity in the extended family associated with ``rational (non-integer) rays" is {\it not} reduced to the Serre relations, and uses also other relations in the $W_{1+\infty}$ algebra. Thus their $\beta$-deformation is less straightforward.

Abstract:We define a two-dimensional Contou-Carrère symbol, which is a deformation of the two-dimensional tame symbol and is a natural generalization of the (usual) one-dimensional Contou-Carrère symbol. We give several constructions of this symbol and investigate its properties. Using higher categorical methods, we prove reciprocity laws on algebraic surfaces for this symbol. We also relate the two-dimensional Contou-Carrère symbol to the two-dimensional class field theory.

Abstract:We analyze general aspects of exchangeable quantum stochastic processes, as well as some concrete cases relevant for several applications to Quantum Physics and Probability. We establish that there is a one-to-one correspondence between quantum stochastic processes, either preserving or not the identity, and states on free product C*-algebras, unital or not unital respectively, where the exchangeable ones correspond precisely to the symmetric states. We also connect some algebraic properties of exchangeable processes, that is the fact that they satisfy the product state or the block-singleton conditions, to some natural ergodic ones. We then specialize the investigation for the q-deformed Commutation Relations, q in(-1,1) (the case q=0 corresponding to the reduced group C*-algebra of the free group on infinitely many generators), and the Boolean ones. We also provide a generalization of De Finetti Theorem to the Fermi CAR algebra (corresponding to the q-deformed Commutation Relations with q=-1), by showing that any state is symmetric if and only if it is conditionally independent and identically distributed with respect to the tail algebra. The Boolean stochastic processes provide examples for which the condition to be independent and identically distributed w.r.t. the tail algebra, without mentioning the {\it a-priori} existence of a preserving conditional expectation, is in general meaningless in the quantum setting. Finally, we study the ergodic properties of a class of remarkable states on the full group C*-algebra of the free group on infinitely many generators, that is the so-called Haagerup states.

Abstract:We give complete presentations for the dagger-compact props of affine Lagrangian and coisotropic relations over an arbitrary field. This provides a unified family of graphical languages for both affinely constrained classical mechanical systems, as well as odd-prime-dimensional stabiliser quantum circuits. To this end, we present affine Lagrangian relations by a particular class of undirected coloured graphs. In order to reason about composite systems, we introduce a powerful scalable notation where the vertices of these graphs are themselves coloured by graphs. In the setting of stabiliser quantum mechanics, this scalable notation gives an extremely concise description of graph states, which can be composed via ``phased spider fusion.'' Likewise, in the classical mechanical setting of electrical circuits, we show that impedance matrices for reciprocal networks are presented in essentially the same way.

Abstract:In general relativity as well as gauge theories, non-trivial symmetries can appear at boundaries. In the presence of radiation some of the symmetries are not Hamiltonian vector fields, hence the definition of charges for the symmetries becomes delicate. It can lead to the problem of field-dependent 2-cocycles in the charge algebra, as opposed to the central extensions allowed in standard classical mechanics. We show that if the Wald-Zoupas prescription is implemented, its covariance requirement guarantees that the algebra of Noether currents is free of field-dependent 2-cocycles, and its stationarity requirement further removes central extensions. Therefore the charge algebra admits at most a time-independent field-dependent 2-cocycle, whose existence depends on the boundary conditions. We report on new results for asymptotic symmetries at future null infinity that can be derived with this approach.

Abstract:Based on an embedding formula of the CAR algebra into the Cuntz algebra ${\mathcal O}_{2^p}$, properties of the CAR algebra are studied in detail by restricting those of the Cuntz algebra. Various $\ast$-endomorphisms of the Cuntz algebra are explicitly constructed, and transcribed into those of the CAR algebra. In particular, a set of $\ast$-endomorphisms of the CAR algebra into its even subalgebra are constructed. According to branching formulae, which are obtained by composing representations and $\ast$-endomorphisms, it is shown that a KMS state of the CAR algebra is obtained through the above even-CAR endomorphisms from the Fock representation. A $U(2^p)$ action on ${\mathcal O}_{2^p}$ induces $\ast$-automorphisms of the CAR algebra, which are given by nonlinear transformations expressed in terms of polynomials in generators. It is shown that, among such $\ast$-automorphisms of the CAR algebra, there exists a family of one-parameter groups of $\ast$-automorphisms describing time evolutions of fermions, in which the particle number of the system changes by time while the Fock vacuum is kept invariant.
Carroll Strings with an Extended Symmetry Algebra

Abstract:Starting from the Polyakov action we consider two distinct Carroll limits in target space, keeping the string worldsheet relativistic. The resulting magnetic and chiral Carroll string models exhibit different symmetries and dynamics. Both models have an infinite dimensional symmetry algebra with Carroll symmetry included in a finite dimensional subalgebra. For the magnetic model, this is the so-called string Carroll algebra. The chiral model realises an extended version of the string Carroll algebra. The magnetic model does not have any transverse string excitations. The chiral model is less restrictive and includes arbitrary left-moving modes that carry transverse momentum but do not contribute to the energy in target space.

From Symmetries to Commutant Algebras in Standard Hamiltonians

Abstract:In this work, we revisit several families of standard Hamiltonians that appear in the literature and discuss their symmetries and conserved quantities in the language of commutant algebras. In particular, we start with families of Hamiltonians defined by parts that are local, and study the algebra of operators that separately commute with each part. The families of models we discuss include the spin-1/2 Heisenberg model and its deformations, several types of spinless and spinful free-fermion models, and the Hubbard model. This language enables a decomposition of the Hilbert space into dynamically disconnected sectors that reduce to the conventional quantum number sectors for regular symmetries. In addition, we find examples of non-standard conserved quantities even in some simple cases, which demonstrates the need to enlarge the usual definitions of symmetries and conserved quantities. In the case of free-fermion models, this decomposition is related to the decompositions of Hilbert space via irreducible representations of certain Lie groups proposed in earlier works, while the algebra perspective applies more broadly, in particular also to arbitrary interacting models. Further, the von Neumann Double Commutant Theorem (DCT) enables a systematic construction of local operators with a given symmetry or commutant algebra, potentially eliminating the need for "brute-force" numerical searches carried out in the literature, and we show examples of such applications of the DCT. This paper paves the way for both systematic construction of families of models with exact scars and characterization of such families in terms of non-standard symmetries, pursued in a parallel paper.

Automorphisms of free products and their application to multivariable dynamics

Abstract:We examine the completely isometric automorphisms of a free product of noncommutative disc algebras. It will be established that such an automorphism is given simply by a completely isometric automorphism of each component of the free product and a permutation of the components. This mirrors a similar fact in topology concerning biholomorphic automorphisms of product spaces with nice boundaries due to Rudin, Ligocka and Tsyganov. This paper is also a study of multivariable dynamical systems by their semicrossed product algebras. A new form of dynamical system conjugacy is introduced and is shown to completely characterize the semicrossed product algebra. This is proven by using the rigidity of free product automorphisms established in the first part of the paper. Lastly, a representation theory is developed to determine when the semicrossed product algebra and the tensor algebra of a dynamical system are completely isometrically isomorphic.

Abstract:Second order scalar ordinary differential equations ({\sc ode}s) which are linearizable possess special types of symmetries. These are the only symmetries which are non fiber-preserving in the linearized form of the equation, and they are called non-Cartan symmetries and known only for scalar {\sc ode}s. We give explicit expressions of non-Cartan symmetries for systems of {\sc ode}s of arbitrary dimensions and show that they form an abelian Lie algebra. It is however shown that the natural extension of these non-Cartan symmetries to arbitrary dimensions is applicable only to the natural extension of scalar second order equations to higher dimensions, that is, to equivalence classes under point transformations of the trivial vector equation. More precisely, it is shown that non-Cartan symmetries characterize linear systems of {\sc ode}s reducible by point transformation to their trivial counterpart, and we verify that they do not characterize nonlinear systems of {\sc ode}s having this property. It is also shown amongst others that the non-Cartan property of a symmetry vector is coordinate-free. Some examples of application of these results are discussed. %

Abstract:We investigate symmetry of the silting quiver of a given algebra which is induced by an anti-automorphism of the algebra. In particular, one shows that if there is a primitive idempotent fixed by the anti-automorphism, then the 2-silting quiver ($=$ the support $\tau$-tilting quiver) has a bisection. Consequently, in that case, we obtain that the cardinality of the 2-silting quiver is an even number (if it is finite).
