Abstract:Consider an axis-symmetric suitable weak solution of 3D incompressible Navier-Stokes equation with nontrivial swirl. If the solution satisfies a slightly supercritical assumption, we will prove that v is regular. This extends the results of Chen-Strain-Tsai-Yau, Koch-Nadirashvili-Seregin-Sverak and Lei-Zhang where regularities under critical assumptions were proven.

Abstract:Several types of new regularity criteria for Leray-Hopf weak solutions u to the 3D Navier-Stokes equations are obtained. Some of them are based on the third component u_3 of velocity under Prodi-Serrin index condition, another type is in terms of ω_3 and ∂_3u_3 with Prodi-Serrin index condition. And a very recent work of the authors, based on only one of the nine entries of the gradient tensor, is renovated.

Abstract:The axially symmetric solutions to the Navier–Stokes equations are considered in a bounded cylinder Ω⊂R3 with the axis of symmetry. S1 is the boundary of the cylinder parallel to the axis of symmetry, and S2 is perpendicular to it. We have two parts of S2. On S1 and S2, we impose vanishing of the normal component of velocity and the angular component of vorticity. Moreover, we assume that the angular component of velocity vanishes on S1 and the normal derivative of the angular component of velocity vanishes on S2. We prove the existence of global regular solutions. To prove this, the coordinate of velocity along the axis of symmetry must vanish on it. We have to emphasize that the technique of weighted spaces applied to the stream function plays a crucial role in the proof of global regular axially symmetric solutions. The paper is a generalization of Part 1, where the periodic boundary conditions are prescribed on S2. The transformation is not trivial because it needs to examine many additional boundary terms and derive new estimates.

Abstract:Smooth solutions to the axially symmetric Navier-Stokes equations obey the following maximum principle: parallel to ru(theta) (r, z, t)parallel to(L infinity) <= parallel to ru(theta) (r, z, 0)parallel to(L infinity). We first prove the global regularity of solutions if parallel to ru(theta) (r, z, 0)parallel to(L infinity) or parallel to ru(theta) (r, z, t)parallel to(L infinity(r <= r0)) is small compared with certain dimensionless quantity of the initial data. This result improves the one in Zhen Lei and Qi S. Zhang [10]. As a corollary, we also prove the global regularity under the assumption that} vertical bar ru(theta)(r,z,t)vertical bar <= vertical bar ln r vertical bar(-3/2), for all 0 < r <= delta(0) is an element of (0,1/2). Abstract:In this paper,we review some recent work on the Cauchy problem of the three-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in recent years.It is well known that the three-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes system has the global Leray-Hopf weak solutions.When the weak solution satisfies the ProdiSerrin condition,the solution is regular.We obtain some new results in the regularity conditions.Especially,for axisymmetric system,when the rotation speed is zero,it is well known that the system is globally well-posed.We find a new conserved quantity,and obtain some new advances in the regularity conditions of axisymmetric solutions with nonzero swirl,also get the global well-posedness results with the small initial rotating speed.Furthermore,we also get the similar result for the inhomogeneous system.In the end,we consider the global well-posedness of a class of generalized Navier-Stokes systems with the higher order horizontal viscosity D2αh,α≥4/3.

Abstract:The problem of global-in-time regularity for the 3D Navier-Stokes equations, i.e., the question of whether a smooth flow can exhibit spontaneous formation of singularities, is a fundamental open problem in mathematical physics. Due to the super-criticality of the equations, the problem has been super-critical in the sense that there has been a scaling gap between any regularity criterion and the corresponding \emph{a priori} bound (regardless of the functional setup utilized). The purpose of this work is to present a mathematical framework--based on a suitably defined scale of sparseness of the super-level sets of the positive and negative parts of the components of the higher-order spatial derivatives of the velocity field--in which the scaling gap between the regularity class and the corresponding \emph{a priori} bound vanishes as the order of the derivative goes to infinity.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate some priori estimates to provide the critical regularity criteria for incompressible Navier-Stokes equations on and super critical surface quasi-geostrophic equations on . Concerning the Navier-Stokes equations, we demonstrate that a Leray-Hopf solution is regular if , or in Lorentz space , with . Additionally, an alternative regularity condition is expressed as ( ), contingent upon a smallness assumption on the norm . For the surface quasi-geostrophic equations, we derive that a Leray-Hopf weak solution is smooth for any small enough. Similar to the case of Navier-Stokes equations, we derive regularity criteria in more refined spaces, i.e. Lorentz spaces and addition of two critical spaces , with smallness assumption on .

Abstract:We consider the axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equations in a finite cylinder $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^3$. We assume that $v_r$, $v_\varphi$, $\omega_\varphi$ vanish on the lateral boundary $\partial \Omega$ of the cylinder, and that $v_z$, $\omega_\varphi$, $\partial_z v_\varphi$ vanish on the top and bottom parts of the boundary $\partial \Omega$, where we used standard cylindrical coordinates, and we denoted by $\omega =\mathrm{curl}\, v$ the vorticity field. We use estimates and $H^3$ Sobolev estimate on the modified stream function to derive three order-reduction estimates. These enable one to reduce the order of the nonlinear estimates of the equations, and help observe that the solutions to the equations is ``almost regular''. We use the order-reduction estimates to show that the solution to the equations remains regular as long as, for any $p\in (6,\infty)$, $\| v_\varphi \|_{L^\infty_t L^p_x}/\| v_\varphi \|_{L^\infty_t L^\infty_x}$ remains bounded below by a positive number.

Let u be an axisymmetric weak solution in R3×(0,T), w=curlu, and wθ be the azimuthal component of w in the cylindrical coordinates. Chae–Lee [D. Chae, J. Lee, On the regularity of axisymmetric solutions of the Navier–Stokes equations, Math. Z. 239 (2002) 645–671] proved the regularity of weak solutions under the condition wθ∈Lq(0,T;Lr), with 32<r<∞, 2q+3r⩽2. We deal with the marginal case r=∞ which they excluded. It is proved that u becomes a regular solution if wθ∈L1(0,T;B˙∞,∞0).

Abstract:Smooth solutions to the axi-symmetric Navier-Stokes equations obey the following maximum principle: $$\sup_{t\geq 0}\|rv^\theta(t, \cdot)\|_{L^\infty} \leq \|rv^\theta(0, \cdot)\|_{L^\infty}.$$ We prove that all solutions with initial data in $H^{\frac{1}{2}}$ is smooth globally in time if $rv^\theta$ satisfies a kind of Form Boundedness Condition (FBC) which is invariant under the natural scaling of the Navier-Stokes equations. In particular, if $rv^\theta$ satisfies \begin{equation}\nonumber \sup_{t \geq 0}|rv^\theta(t, r, z)| \leq C_\ast|\ln r|^{- 2},\ \ r \leq \delta_0 \in (0, \frac{1}{2}),\ C_\ast < \infty, \end{equation} then our FBC is satisfied. Here $\delta_0$ and $C_\ast$ are independent of neither the profile nor the norm of the initial data. So the gap from regularity is logarithmic in nature. We also prove the global regularity of solutions if $\|rv^\theta(0, \cdot)\|_{L^\infty}$ or $\sup_{t \geq 0}\|rv^\theta(t, \cdot)\|_{L^\infty(r \leq r_0)}$ is small but the smallness depends on certain dimensionless quantity of the initial data.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the three-dimensional axisymmetric NavierStokes system with nonzero swirl. By establishing a new key inequality for the pair (omega(r)/r, omega(theta)/r), we get several Prodi-Serrin type regularity criteria based on the angular velocity, u(theta). Moreover, we obtain the global well-posedness result if the initial angular velocity u(0)(theta) is appropriate small in the critical space L-3 (R-3). Furthermore, we also get several Prodi-Serrin type regularity criteria based on one component of the solutions, say omega(3) or u(3).

Topological Methods in Nonlinear Analysis

Abstract:Stationary or self similar solutions with suitable homogeneity often play a crucial role in the regularity theory of nonlinear problems, which are physically or geometrically interesting. This has been manifested in the regularity theory of harmonic maps and minimal surfaces. The local partial regularity theorem in [CKN] implies that there are no self-similar solutions with small local energy (also see [TX] for generalizations). Making use of some arguments in [NRS], Tsai has ruled out the existence of any self-similar solutions with a finite local energy. Yet it is unclear whether or not solutions of the incompressible Navier– Stokes equation in three space dimensions would develop singularities in finite time. Therefore, it may be still interesting to construct special solutions of the 3-dimensional Navier–Stokes equation. In this note, we construct a one-parameter family of explicit smooth solutions of the 3-dimensional impressible Navier–Stokes equation on R\p, where p is any given point. These solutions are axisymmetric, homogeneous of degree −1. They are steady solutions to the Navier–Stokes equations and also solve the self-similar

Abstract:Several regularity criterions of Leray-Hopf weak solutions $u$ to the 3D Navier-Stokes equations are obtained. The results show that a weak solution $u$ becomes regular if the gradient of velocity component $\nabla_{h}{u}$ (or $ \nabla{u_3}$) satisfies the additional conditions in the class of $L^{q}(0,T; \dot{B}_{p,r}^{s}(\mathbb{R}^{3}))$, where $\nabla_{h}=(\partial_{x_{1}},\partial_{x_{2}})$ is the horizontal gradient operator. Besides, we also consider the anisotropic regularity criterion for the weak solution of Navier-Stokes equations in $\mathbb{R}^3$. Finally, we also get a further regularity criterion, when give the sufficient condition on $\partial_3u_3$.
