Abstract:In this article, we construct explicitly certain moonshine type vertex operator algebras generated by a set of Ising vectors $I$ such that (1) for any $e\neq f\in I$, the subVOA $\mathrm{VOA}(e,f)$ generated by $e$ and $f$ is isomorphic to either $U_{2B}$ or $U_{3C}$; and (2)the subgroup generated by the corresponding Miyamoto involutions $\{\tau_e|\,e\in I\}$ is isomorphic to the Weyl group of a root system of type $A_n$, $D_n$, $E_6$, $E_7$ or $E_8$. The structures of the corresponding vertex operator algebras and their Griess algebras are also studied. In particular, the central charge of these vertex operator algebras are determined.

Abstract:We classify vertex operator algebras (VOAs) of OZ-type generated by Ising vectors of $\sigma$-type. As a consequence of the classification, we also prove that such VOAs are simple, rational, $C_2$-cofinite and unitary, that is, they have compact real forms generated by Ising vectors of $\sigma$-type over the real numbers.

Abstract:We introduce two K-theories, one for vector bundles whose fibers are modules of vertex operator algebras, another for vector bundles whose fibers are modules of associative algebras. We verify the cohomological properties of these K-theories, and construct a natural homomorphism from the VOA K-theory to the associative algebra K-theory.

Abstract:We identify vertex operator algebras (VOAs) of a class of Argyres-Douglas (AD) matters with two types of non-abelian flavor symmetries. They are the $W$ algebra defined using nilpotent orbit with partition $[q^m,1^s]$. Gauging above AD matters, we can find VOAs for more general $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs engineered from 6d $(2,0)$ theories. For example, the VOA for general $(A_{N-1}, A_{k-1})$ theory is found as the coset of a collection of above $W$ algebras. Various new interesting properties of 2d VOAs such as level-rank duality, conformal embedding, collapsing levels, coset constructions for known VOAs can be derived from 4d theory.
Borel-type subalgebras of the lattice vertex operator algebra

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce and study new classes of subVOAs of the lattice vertex operator algebras, which we call the conic, Borel, and parabolic-type subVOAs. These CFT-type VOAs, which are not necessarily strongly finitely generated, satisfy similar properties with the usual Borel and parabolic subalgebras of a Lie algebra. For the lowest-rank nontrivial example of Borel-type subVOA $V_{B}$ of $V_{\Z\al}$, we explicitly determine its Zhu's algebra $A(V_B)$ in terms of generators and relations.

Non-Simply Laced Class-S Vertex Operator Algebras

Abstract:In <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1811.01577" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1811.01577">arXiv:1811.01577</a> the VOAs associated to 4d $\mathcal{N}=2$ class-S theories were constructed in addition to a generalization for non-simply laced Lie algebras. However, 6d (2,0) theories have an ADE classification, and therefore class-S theories which are engineered by them come in ADE types. Thus, these non-simply laced VOAs are not thought to correspond to 4d physical theories. Regardless, we analyze these VOAs and their Drinfeld-Sokolov reductions in an effort to determine their properties. We find that many of these reduced VOAs appear to correspond to actual 4d $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs. Additionally, we find what appear to be $F_4$ instanton VOAs, and hence from the proposal of <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2201.13435" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2201.13435">arXiv:2201.13435</a> these correspond to 3d $\mathcal{N}=4$ quiver gauge theories whose Coulomb branches are $F_4$ instanton moduli spaces. Using a construction of twisted class-S VOAs from non-simply laced ones, we find additional evidence that the $F_4$ instanton VOAs do not correspond to four-dimensional field theories and outline an analogous argument for the $G_2$ instanton case. Our method appears to be quite general and may be a promising technique for ruling out 4d origins of VOAs that are similar to those of 4d $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs, in addition to constructing VOAs of actual 4d theories.

Orbifolds of Pointed Vertex Operator Algebras I

Abstract:By a pointed vertex operator algebra (VOA) we mean one whose modules are all simple currents (i.e. invertible), e.g. lattice VOAs. This paper systematically explores the interplay between their orbifolds and tensor category theory. We begin by supplying an elementary proof of the Dijkgraaf-Witten conjecture, which predicts the representation theory of holomorphic VOA orbifolds. We then apply that argument more generally to the situation where the automorphism subgroup fixes all VOA modules, and relate the result to recent work of Mason-Ng and Naidu. Here our results are complete. We then turn to the other extreme, where the automorphisms act fixed-point freely on the modules, and realize any possible nilpotent group as lattice VOA automorphisms. This affords a considerable generalization of the Tambara-Yamagami categories. We conclude by considering some hybrid actions. In this way we use tensor category theory to organize and generalize systematically several isolated examples and special cases scattered in the literature. Conversely, we show how VOA orbifolds can be used to construct broad classes of braided crossed fusion categories and modular tensor categories.

$f$-vectors of balanced simplicial complexes, flag spheres, and geometric Lefschetz decompositions

Abstract:We show that there are $f$-vectors of balanced simplicial complexes giving a source of simplicial complexes exhibiting a Boolean decomposition similar to a geometric Lefschetz decomposition. The objects we are working with are $h$-vectors of flag spheres and balanced simplicial complexes whose $f$-vectors are equal to them. This builds on work of Nevo--Petersen--Tenner on a conjecture of Nevo--Petersen that the gamma vector of an odd-dimensional flag sphere is the $f$-vector of a balanced simplicial complex (which was shown for barycentric subdivisions by Nevo--Petersen--Tenner). We can connect our decomposition to positivity questions on reciprocal/palindromic polynomials associated to flag spheres and geometric questions motivating them. In addition, we note that the degrees in the Lefschetz-like decomposition are not halved unlike the usual $h$-vector setting.

Abstract:The concurrence vectors are proposed by employing the fundamental representation of A n Lie algebra, which provides a clear criterion to evaluate the entanglement of bipartite systems of arbitrary dimension. Accordingly, a state is separable if the norm of its concurrence vector vanishes. The state vectors related to SU(3) states and SO(3) states are discussed in detail. The sign situation of nonzero components of concurrence vectors of entangled bases presents a simple criterion to judge whether the whole Hilbert subspace spanned by those bases is entangled, or there exists an entanglement edge. This is illustrated in terms of the concurrence surfaces of several concrete examples.

Abstract:In this paper we first prove that the maximal ideal of the universal affine vertex operator algebra $V^k(sl_n)$ for $k=-n+\frac{n-1}{q}$ is generated by two singular vectors of conformal weight $3q$ if $n=3$, and by one singular vector of conformal weight $2q$ if $n\geq 4$. We next determine the associated varieties of the simple vertex operator algebras $L_k(sl_3)$ for all the non-admissible levels $k=-3+\frac{2}{2m+1}$, $m\geq 0$. The varieties of the associated simple affine $W$-algebras $W_k(sl_3,f)$, for nilpotent elements $f$ of $sl_3$, are also determined.

Abstract:We give an abstract construction, based on the Belavin-Polyakov-Zamolodchikov equations, of a family of vertex operator algebras of rank $26$ associated to the modified regular representations of the Virasoro algebra. The vertex operators are obtained from the tensor products of intertwining operators for a pair of Virasoro algebras. We explicitly determine the structure coefficients that yield the axioms of VOAs. In the process of our construction, we obtain new hypergeometric identities.

Abstract:Inspired by code vertex operator algebras (VOAs) and their representation theory, we define code algebras, a new class of commutative non-associative algebras constructed from binary linear codes. Let C be a binary linear code of length n. A basis for the code algebra A C consists of n idempotents and a vector for each non-constant codeword of C. We show that code algebras are almost always simple and, under mild conditions on their structure constants, admit an associating bilinear form. We determine the Peirce decomposition and the fusion law for the idempotents in the basis, and we give a construction to find additional idempotents, called the s-map, which comes from the code structure. For a general code algebra, we classify the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the smallest examples of the s-map construction, and hence show that certain code algebras are axial algebras. We give some examples, including that for a Hamming code H 8 where the code algebra A H 8 is an axial algebra and embeds in the code VOA V H 8 .

Abstract:By studying the properties of q -series -invariants, we develop a dictionary between 3-manifolds and vertex algebras. In particular, we generalize previously known entries in this dictionary to Lie groups of higher rank, to 3-manifolds with toral boundaries, and to BPS partition functions with line operators. This provides a new physical realization of logarithmic vertex algebras in the framework of the 3d-3d correspondence and opens new avenues for their future study. For example, we illustrate how invoking a knot-quiver correspondence for -invariants leads to many infinite families of new fermionic formulae for VOA characters.

Abstract:For the Klein group K, k ∈ Z>1 and m ∈ Z>4, we study the representations of the orbifold vertex operator algebra L ŝl2 (k, 0)K and the commutant vertex operator algebra of Lŝom(3, 0) in Lŝom(1, 0) ⊗3 which can be realized as the orbifold vertex operator subalgebra L ŝl2 (2m, 0)K or its extension. All the irreducible modules for L ŝl2 (k, 0)K and CL ŝom (1,0)⊗3(Lŝom(3, 0)) are classified and constructed explicitly.

Abstract:This manuscript concerns with cyclic vectors in the Fock-type spaces of multi-variable cases, with positive parameters and . The one-variable case has been settled by the authors. Here, it is shown that for a positive number , a function f in the Fock-type space is cyclic if and only if f is non-vanishing. However, the case of s being a positive integer turns out to be more complicated. Abstract:Vector OFDM (VOFDM) is equivalent to OTFS and is good for time-varying channels. However, due to its vector form, its signal spectrum is not as clear as that of the conventional OFDM. In this paper, we study the discrete spectrum of discrete VOFDM signals. We obtain a linear relationship between a vector of information symbols and a vector of the same size of components evenly distributed in the discrete VOFDM signal spectrum, and show that if a vector of information symbols is set to 0, then a corresponding vector of the same size of the discrete VOFDM signal spectrum is 0 as well, where the components of the 0 vector are not together but evenly distributed in the spectrum. With the linear relationship, the information symbol vectors can be locally precoded so that any of the discrete spectrum of VOFDM signals can be set to 0, similar to that of the conventional OFDM signals. These results are verified by simulations.
