Abstract:Bertrand's Postulate states about the prime distribution for the real numbers. The generalization of Bertrand's Postulate was proved by Das et al. [Arxiv 2018]. In this paper, we have formalized this idea for the Gaussian primes (or the primes on the complex plane). This result gives information about the prime distribution on the complex plane.

Abstract:The Gaussian moat problem asks whether it is possible to find an infinite sequence of distinct Gaussian prime numbers such that the difference between consecutive numbers in the sequence is bounded. In this paper, we have proved that the answer is `No', that is an infinite sequence of distinct Gaussian prime numbers can not be bounded by an absolute constant, for the Gaussian primes $p=a^2+b^2$ with $a,b\neq0$. We consider each prime $(a,b)$ as a lattice point on the complex plane and use their properties to prove the main result.

Walking through the Gaussian Primes

Abstract:The Gaussian Moat problem asks whether one can walk to infinity in the Gaussian integers using the Gaussian primes as stepping stones and taking bounded length steps or not. In this paper, we have analyzed the Gaussian primes and also developed an algorithm to find the primes on the $\mathbb{R}^2$ plane which will help us to calculate the moat for higher value. We have also reduced a lot of computation with this algorithm to find the Gaussian prime though their distribution on the $\mathbb{R}^2$ plane is not so regular. A moat of value $\sqrt{26}$ is already an existing result done by Genther <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://et.al" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a>. The focus of the problem is to show that primes are getting lesser as we are approaching infinity. We have shown this result with the help of our algorithm. We have calculated the moat and also calculated the time complexity of our algorithm and compared it with Genther-Wagon-Wick's algorithm. As a new ingredient, we have defined the notion of primality for the plane $\mathbb{R}^3$ and proposed a problem on it.

Abstract:In this paper, we have developed an algorithm for the prime searching in $\mathbb{R}^3$. This problem was proposed by M. Das [Arxiv,2019]. This paper is an extension of her work. As we know the distribution of primes will get more irregular as we are going to infinity and going to the higher dimensions. We have also shown that why it is not possible to extend the Gaussian Moat problem for the higher dimensions (more than four dimensional plane).

Abstract:In 1845, Bertrand conjectured that twice any prime strictly exceeds the next prime. Tchebichef proved Bertrand's postulate in 1850. In 1934, Ishikawa proved a stronger result: the sum of any two consecutive primes strictly exceeds the next prime, except for the only equality $2+3=5$. This observation is a special case of a more general result, perhaps not previously noticed: if $p_n$ denotes the $n$th prime, $n=1, 2, \ldots$, with $p_1=2, p_2=3, \ldots$, and if $c_1, \ldots, c_g$ are nonnegative integers (not necessarily distinct), and $d_1, \ldots, d_h$ are positive integers (not necessarily distinct), and $g>h\ge 1$, then there exists a positive integer $N$ such that $p_{n-c_1}+p_{n-c_2}+\cdots +p_{n-c_g}>p_{n+d_1}+\cdots +p_{n+d_h}$ for all $n\ge N$. We prove this result using only the prime number theorem. For any instance of this result, we sketch a way to find the least possible $N$. We give some numerical results and unanswered questions.

Abstract:We show that there exists some $\delta > 0$ such that, for any set of integers $B$ with $B\cap[1,Y]\gg Y^{1-\delta}$ for all $Y \gg 1$, there are infinitely many primes of the form $a^2+b^2$ with $b\in B$. We prove a quasi-explicit formula for the number of primes of the form $a^2+b^2 \leq X$ with $b \in B$ for any $|B|=X^{1/2-\delta}$ with $\delta < 1/10$ and $B \subseteq [\eta X^{1/2},(1-\eta)X^{1/2}] \cap \mathbb{Z}$, in terms of zeros of Hecke $L$-functions on $\mathbb{Q}(i)$. We obtain the expected asymptotic formula for the number of such primes provided that the set $B$ does not have a large subset which consists of multiples of a fixed large integer. In particular, we get an asymptotic formula if $B$ is a sparse subset of primes. For an arbitrary $B$ we obtain a lower bound for the number of primes with a weaker range for $\delta$, by bounding the contribution from potential exceptional characters.

Abstract:Let $n$ be a natural number greater than $2$ and $q$ be the smallest prime dividing $n$. We show that a finite subset $A$ of rationals, of cardinality at most $q$, contains a $n^{th}$ power in $\mathbb{Q}_{p}$ for almost every prime $p$ if and only if $A$ contains a perfect $n^{th}$ power, barring some exceptions when $n$ is even. This generalizes the Grunwald-Wang theorem for $n^{th}$ powers, from one rational number to finite subsets of rational numbers. We also show that the upper bound $q$ in this generalization is optimal for every $n$.

Abstract:The structure of the group (ℤ/nℤ)* and Fermat’s little theorem are the basis for some of the best-known primality testing algorithms. Many related concepts arise: Euler’s totient function and Carmichael’s lambda function, Fermat pseudoprimes, Carmichael and cyclic numbers, Lehmer’s totient problem, Giuga’s conjecture, etc. In this paper, we present and study analogues to some of the previous concepts arising when we consider the underlying group Gn:= {a + bi ∈ ℤ[i]/nℤ[i]: a2 + b2 ≡ 1 (mod n)}. In particular, we characterize Gaussian Carmichael numbers via a Korselt’s criterion and present their relation with Gaussian cyclic numbers. Finally, we present the relation between Gaussian Carmichael number and 1-Williams numbers for numbers n ≡ 3 (mod 4). There are also no known composite numbers less than 1018 in this family that are both pseudoprime to base 1 + 2i and 2-pseudoprime.

Abstract:We show that almost all sectors of the disc $\{z \in \mathbb{C}: |z|^2\leq X\}$ of area $(\log X)^{15.1}$ contain products of exactly two Gaussian primes, and that almost all sectors of area $(\log X)^{1 + \varepsilon}$ contain products of exactly three Gaussian primes. The argument is based on mean value theorems, large value estimates and pointwise bounds for Hecke character sums.

Abstract:We derive a refined conjecture for the variance of Gaussian primes across sectors, with a power saving error term, by applying the <i>L</i>-functions Ratios Conjecture. We observe a bifurcation point in the main term, consistent with the Random Matrix Theory (RMT) heuristic previously proposed by Rudnick and Waxman. Our model also identifies a second bifurcation point, undetected by the RMT model, that emerges upon taking into account lower order terms. For sufficiently small sectors, we moreover prove an unconditional result that is consistent with our conjecture down to lower order terms.

Abstract:We establish the universality of the singular numbers in random matrix products over $\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{Q}_p)$ as the number of products approaches infinity, with a fixed $n\ge 1$. We demonstrate that, under a broad class of distributions, which we term as ``split", the asymptotics of matrix products align with the sum of the singular numbers of the matrix corners. Specifically, when matrices are independent and identically distributed, we derive the strong law of large numbers and the central limit theorem. Our approach is inspired by Van Peski's work (<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2011.09356" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2011.09356">arXiv:2011.09356</a>), which examines products of $n\times n$ corners of Haar-distributed elements $\mathrm{GL}_N(\mathbb{Z}_p)$. We extend the method so that the criterion now works as long as the measures are left- and right-invariant under the multiplication of $\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{Z}_p)$. Building on this approach for $\mathrm{GL}_n$, we further demonstrate similar universality for $\mathrm{GSp}_{2n}$ and discuss potential extensions to general split reductive groups.

Abstract:We generalize the notion of Elkies primes for elliptic curves to the setting of abelian varieties with real multiplication (RM), and prove the following. Let $A$ be an abelian variety with RM over a number field whose attached Galois representation has large image. Then the number of Elkies primes (in a suitable range) for reductions of $A$ modulo primes converges weakly to a Gaussian distribution around its expected value. This refines and generalizes results obtained by Shparlinski and Sutherland in the case of non-CM elliptic curves, and has implications for the complexity of the SEA point counting algorithm for abelian surfaces over finite fields.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the linear independence between the distribution of the number of prime factors of integers and that of the largest prime factors of integers. Respectively, under a restriction on the largest prime factors of integers, we will refine the Erdős-Kac Theorem and Loyd's recent result on Bergelson and Richter's dynamical generalizations of the Prime Number Theorem. At the end, we will show that the analogue of these results holds with respect to the Erdős-Pomerance Theorem as well.

Abstract:Suppose that $n$ is $0$ or $4$ modulo $6$. We show that there are infinitely many primes of the form $p^2 + nq^2$ with both $p$ and $q$ prime, and obtain an asymptotic for their number. In particular, when $n = 4$ we verify the `Gaussian primes conjecture' of Friedlander and Iwaniec. We study the problem using the method of Type I/II sums in the number field $\mathbf{Q}(\sqrt{-n})$. The main innovation is in the treatment of the Type II sums, where we make heavy use of two recent developments in the theory of Gowers norms in additive combinatorics: quantitative versions of so-called concatenation theorems, due to Kuca and to Kuca--Kravitz-Leng, and the quasipolynomial inverse theorem of Leng, Sah and the second author.

Abstract:In this article, we shall generalize a theorem due to Frobenius in group theory, which asserts that if $p$ is a prime and $p^{r}$ divides the order of a finite group, then the number of subgroups of order $p^{r}$ is $\equiv$ 1(mod $p$). Interestingly, our proof is purely combinatorial and does not use much group theory.

Abstract:We present a new random approximation method that yields the existence of a discrete Beurling prime system $\mathcal{P}=\{p_{1}, p_{2}, \dotso\}$ which is very close in a certain precise sense to a given non-decreasing, right-continuous, nonnegative, and unbounded function $F$. This discretization procedure improves an earlier discrete random approximation method due to H. Diamond, H. Montgomery, and U. Vorhauer [Math. Ann. 334 (2006), 1-36], and refined by W.-B. Zhang [Math. Ann. 337 (2007), 671-704]. We obtain several applications. Our new method is applied to a question posed by M. Balazard concerning Dirichlet series with a unique zero in their half plane of convergence, to construct examples of very well-behaved generalized number systems that solve a recent open question raised by T. Hilberdink and A. Neamah in [Int. J. Number Theory 16 05 (2020), 1005-1011], and to improve the main result from [Adv. Math. 370 (2020), Article 107240], where a Beurling prime system with regular primes but extremely irregular integers was constructed.

Abstract:We extend the Brauer-Siegel theorem to new families of number fields, both in the classical setting of asymptotically bad families and in the more general framework due to Tsfasman and Vlăduţ of asymptotically exact families. We introduce a notion of Galois complexity for extensions of number fields, and show that the generalized Brauer-Siegel theorem, as conjectured by Tsfasman and Vlăduţ, holds for families in which the complexity does not grow too fast. This allows to unify and extend all previously known results. The crucial step in our work is the proof of a new version -- stated in terms of our Galois complexity -- of a fundamental principle due to Stark descending exceptional zeroes of zeta functions down to quadratic number fields. Among the hitherto unknown cases we are able to treat are the families of number fields contained in the solvable Galois closure of a given number field.

Abstract:Fermat's Little Theorem states that if p is a prime number and gcd (x,p) = 1, then xp−1 ≡ 1 (modp) If the requirement that gcd (x,p) = 1 is dropped, we can say xp ≡ x(modp)for any integer x. Euler generalized Fermat's Theorem in the following way: if gcd (x,n) = 1 then xφ(n) ≡ 1(modn), where φ is the Euler phi-function. It is clear that Euler's result cannot be extended to all integers x in the same way Fermat's Theorem can; that is, the congruence xφ(n)+1 ≡ x(modn)is not always valid. In this note we show exactly when the congruence xφ(n)+1 ≡ x(modn) is valid.
