Abstract:We introduce a theory of cyclic Kummer extensions of commutative rings for partial Galois extensions of finite groups, extending some of the well-known results of the theory of Kummer extensions of commutative rings developed by A. Z. Borevich. In particular, we provide necessary and sufficient conditions to determine when a partial $n$-kummerian extension is equivalent to either a radical or a $I$-radical extension, for some subgroup $I$ of the cyclic group $C_n$.

Abstract:Let $ K $ be a number field and let $ L/K $ be a tamely ramified radical extension of prime degree $ p $. If $ K $ contains a primitive $ p^{th} $ root of unity then $ L/K $ is a cyclic Kummer extension; in this case the group algebra $ K[G] $ (with $ G=\mbox{Gal}(L/K) $) gives the unique Hopf-Galois structure on $ L/K $, the ring of algebraic integers $ \mathfrak{O}_L $ is locally free over $ \mathfrak{O}_{K}[G] $ by Noether's theorem, and Gómez Ayala has determined a criterion for $ \mathfrak{O}_L $ to be a free $ \mathfrak{O}_{K}[G] $-module. If $ K $ does not contain a primitive $ p^{th} $ root of unity then $ L/K $ is a separable, but non-normal, extension, which again admits a unique Hopf-Galois structure. Under the assumption that $ p $ is unramified in $ K $, we show that $ \mathfrak{O}_L $ is locally free over its associated order in this Hopf-Galois structure and determine a criterion for it to be free. We find that the conditions that appear in this criterion are identical to those appearing in Gómez Ayala's criterion for the normal case.

Abstract:Let $\Lambda$ be an artin algebra and $\mathcal{C}$ be a functorially finite subcategory of mod$\Lambda$ which contains $\Lambda$ or $D\Lambda$. We use the concept of the infinite radical of $\mathcal{C}$ and show that $\mathcal{C}$ has an additive generator if and only if rad$^\infty_{\mathcal{C}}$ vanishes. In this case we describe the morphisms in powers of the radical of $\mathcal{C}$ in terms of its irreducible morphisms. Moreover, under a mild assumption, we prove that $\mathcal{C}$ is of finite representation type if and only if any family of monomorphisms (epimorphisms) between indecomposable objects in $\mathcal{C}$ is noetherian (conoetherian). Also, by using injective envelopes, projective covers, left $\mathcal{C}$-approximations and right $\mathcal{C}$-approximations of simple $\Lambda$-modules, we give other criteria to describe whether $\mathcal{C}$ is of finite representation type. In addition, we give a nilpotency index of the radical of $\mathcal{C}$ which is independent from the maximal length of indecomposable $\Lambda$-modules in $\mathcal{C}$.

Abstract:This article explores the connection between radical isogenies and modular curves. Radical isogenies are formulas designed for the computation of chains of isogenies of fixed small degree $N$, introduced by Castryck, Decru, and Vercauteren at Asiacrypt 2020. One significant advantage of radical isogeny formulas over other formulas with a similar purpose is that they eliminate the need to generate a point of order $N$ that generates the kernel of the isogeny. While radical isogeny formulas were originally developed using elliptic curves in Tate normal form, Onuki and Moriya have proposed radical isogeny formulas of degrees $3$ and $4$ on Montgomery curves and attempted to obtain a simpler form of radical isogenies using enhanced elliptic and modular curves. In this article, we translate the original setup of radical isogenies in Tate normal form into the language of modular curves. Additionally, we solve an open problem introduced by Onuki and Moriya regarding radical isogeny formulas on $X_0(N).$

Abstract:We define radically finite rings and show that finite dimensional radically finite rings are Noetherian, and that if either R is a finite character Hilbert domain that contains a field of characteristic zero or a finite dimensional Prufer domain, then the polynomial ring R[X] over R is radically finite if and only if R is a Dedekind domain with torsion ideal class group. We then consider the radically finite condition on UFD and show that there does not exist a finite character UFD R of Krull dimension 2 over which the polynomial ring R[X] is radically finite. From this it follows that not all space curves are set theoretic complete intersection.

Abstract:Let $p$ be a prime number. Kęstutis Česnavičius proved that for an abelian variety $A$ over a global field $K$, the $p$-Selmer group $\mathrm {Sel}_{p}(A/L)$ grows unboundedly when $L$ ranges over the $(\mathbb {Z}/p\mathbb {Z})$-extensions of $K$. Moreover, he raised a further problem: is $\dim _{\mathbb {F}_{p}} \text{III} (A/L) [p]$ also unbounded under the above conditions? In this paper, we give a positive answer to this problem in the case $p \neq \mathrm {char}\,K$. As an application, this result enables us to generalize the work of Clark, Sharif and Creutz on the growth of potential $\text{III}$ in cyclic extensions. We also answer a problem proposed by Lim and Murty concerning the growth of the fine Tate–Shafarevich groups.

Abstract:A group $G$ is said to be equationally Noetherian if every system of equations in $G$ is equivalent to a finite subsystem. We show that all free-by-cyclic groups are equationally Noetherian. As a corollary, we deduce that the set of exponential growth rates of a free-by-cyclic group is well ordered. Along the way, we prove that free-by-cyclic groups with polynomially growing monodromies of infinite order admit non-elementary 4-acylindrical actions on trees. We show that the splittings arising from the improved relative train track machinery of Bestvina-Feighn-Handel are 2-acylindrical when the growth is at least quadratic.

Abstract:We define a variant of normal basis, called a {\em Galois scaffolding}, that allows for an easy determination of valuation, and has implications for Galois module structure. We identify fully ramified, elementary abelian extensions of local function fields of characteristic $p$, called {\em one-dimensional}, that, in a particular sense, are as simple as cyclic degree $p$ extensions, and prove the statement in the title above.

Abstract:We introduce the concept of a prime band in a string algebra $\Lambda$ and use it to associate to $\Lambda$ its finite bridge quiver. Then we introduce a new technique of `recursive systems' for showing that a graph map between finite dimensional string modules lies in its stable radical. Further we study two classes of non-domestic string algebras in terms of some connectedness properties of its bridge quiver. `Meta-$\bigcup$-cyclic' string algebras constitute the first class that is essentially characterized by the statement that each finite string is a substring of a band. Extending this class we have `meta-torsion-free' string algebras that are characterized by a dichotomy statement for ranks of graph maps between string modules--such maps either have finite rank or are in the stable radical. Their stable ranks can only take values from $\{\omega,\omega+1,\omega+2\}$.

Abstract:In this paper we obtain the extended genus field of a finite abelian extension of a global rational function field. We first study the case of a cyclic extension of prime power degree. Next, we use that the extended genus fields of a composite of two cyclotomic extensions of a global rational function field is equal to the composite of their respective extended genus fields, to obtain our main result. This result is that the extended genus field of a general finite abelian extension of a global rational function field, is given explicitly in terms of the field and of the extended genus field of its "cyclotomic projection".

Abstract:Following the well-established terminology in commutative algebra, any (not necessarily commutative) finite-dimensional local algebra.. with radical.. will be said to be short provided J(3) = 0. As in the commutative case, we show: If a short local algebra.. has an indecomposable non-projective Gorenstein-projective module M, then either A is self-injective (so that all modules are Gorenstein-projective) and then, of course, vertical bar J(2)vertical bar <= 1, or else vertical bar J(2)vertical bar = vertical bar J/J(2)vertical bar - 1 and vertical bar JM vertical bar = vertical bar J(2)vertical bar vertical bar M/JM vertical bar. More generally, we focus the attention to semi-Gorensteinprojective and 8-torsionfree modules, even to Omega-paths of length 2, 3 and 4. In particular, we show that the existence of a non-projective reflexive module implies that vertical bar J(2)vertical bar < vertical bar J/J(2)vertical bar and further restrictions. In addition, we consider exact complexes of projective modules with a non-projective image. Again, as in the commutative case, we see that if such a complex exists, then.. is self-injective or satisfies the condition vertical bar J(2)vertical bar = vertical bar J/J(2)vertical bar - 1. Also, we show that any non-projective semi-Gorensteinprojective module M satisfies Ext(1)(M, M) not equal 0. In this way, we prove the Auslander-Reiten conjecture (one of the classical homological conjectures) for arbitrary short local algebras. Many arguments used in the commutative case actually work in general, but there are interesting differences and some of our results may be new also in the commutative case.
Non-vanishing of Ceresa and Gross--Kudla--Schoen cycles associated to modular curves

Abstract:Given an algebraic curve $X$ of genus $\ge 3$, one can construct two algebraic $1$-cycles, the Ceresa cycle and the Gross-Kudla-Schoen modified diagonal cycle, each living in the Jacobian of $X$ and the triple product $X \times X \times X$ respectively. These two cycles are homologically trivial but are of infinite order in their corresponding Chow groups for a very general curve over $\mathbb{C}$. From the work of S-W Zhang, for a fixed curve these two cycles are non-torsion in their corresponding Chow groups if and only if one of them is. In this paper, we prove that the Ceresa and Gross-Kudla-Schoen cycles associated to a modular curve $X$ are non-torsion in the corresponding Chow groups when $X=\Gamma \backslash \overline{\mathbb{H}}$ for certain congruence subgroups $\Gamma\subset {\rm SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$. We obtain the result by studying a pullback formula for special divisors by the diagonal map $X \hookrightarrow X \times X$.
