Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the concept of weakly semiprime ideals and weakly n -systems in noncommutative rings. We establish the equivalence between an ideal P being a weakly semiprime ideal and R−P being a weakly n -system. We provide alternative definitions and explore the properties of weakly semiprime ideals. Additionally, we investigate scenarios where all ideals in a given ring are weakly semiprime and demonstrate that in Noetherian rings, where every ideal is weakly semiprime, the prime radical and the Jacobson radical coincide.

Abstract:We generalize the theory of radical factorization from almost Dedekind domain to strongly discrete Prüfer domains; we show that, for a fixed subset $X$ of maximal ideals, the finitely generated ideals with $\mathcal{V}(I)\subseteq X$ have radical factorization if and only if $X$ contains no critical maximal ideals with respect to $X$. We use these notions to prove that in the group $\mathrm{Inv}(D)$ of the invertible ideals of a strongly discrete Prüfer domains is often free: in particular, we show it when the spectrum of $D$ is Noetherian or when $D$ is a ring of integer-valued polynomials on a subset over a Dedekind domain.

Abstract:In this short note we study the links of certain prime ideals of a noetherian ring R. We first give the definition of a link krull symmetric noetherian ring R. We then prove theorem 9 that states that for any linked prime ideals P' and Q' of the polynomial ring R[X] where R is a link krull symmetric noetherian ring, if The prime ideal P' is extended then Q' is also an extended prime ideal of R[X]. An application of theorem 9 is then given in theorem 12 for the ring R[X] when R is assumed to be a fully bounded noetherian ring.

Prime Splitting and Common Index Divisors in Radical Extensions

Abstract:We explicitly describe the splitting of odd integral primes in the radical extension $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt[n]{a})$, where $x^n-a$ is an irreducible polynomial in $\mathbb{Z}[x]$. Our motivation is to classify common index divisors, the primes whose splitting prevents the existence of a power integral basis for the ring of integers of $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt[n]{a})$. Among other results, we show that if $p$ is such a prime, even or otherwise, then $p\mid n$.

Abstract:In this paper we study the concept of radical factorization in the context of abstract ideal theory in order to obtain a unified approach to the theory of factorization into radical ideals and elements in the literature of commutative rings, monoids and ideal systems. Using this approach we derive new characterizations of classes of rings whose ideals are a product of radical ideals, and we obtain also similar characterizations for classes of ideal systems in monoids and star ideals in integral domains.

Abstract:In classical and real algebraic geometry there are several notions of the radical of an ideal I. There is the vanishing radical defined as the set of all real polynomials vanishing on the real zero set of I, and the real radical defined as the smallest real ideal containing I. By the real Nullstellensatz they coincide. This paper focuses on extensions of these to the free algebra R<x,x^*> of noncommutative real polynomials in x=(x_1,...,x_g) and x^*=(x_1^*,...,x_g^*). We work with a natural notion of the (noncommutative real) zero set V(I) of a left ideal I in the free algebra. The vanishing radical of I is the set of all noncommutative polynomials p which vanish on V(I). In this paper our quest is to find classes of left ideals I which coincide with their vanishing radical. We completely succeed for monomial ideals and homogeneous principal ideals. We also present the case of principal univariate ideals with a degree two generator and find that it is very messy. Also we give an algorithm (running under NCAlgebra) which checks if a left ideal is radical or is not, and illustrate how one uses our implementation of it.

Abstract:The aim of these notes is to study some of the structural aspects of the ring of arithmetical functions. We prove that this ring is neither Noetherian nor Artinian. Furthermore, we construct various types of prime ideals. We also give an example of a semi-prime ideal that is not prime. We show that the ring of arithmetical functions has infinite Krull dimension.

Abstract:Let R be a ring with a monomorphism α and an α -derivation δ . In this article, we give a simple and different proof about the semiprimitivity of Ore extensions which states that the skew polynomial ring R[x;α,δ] is semiprimitive reduced if and only if R is α -rigid. This unifies and extends a number of known results on the Jacobson radical in the special cases. Also, as an application of our results, by imposing constraints on α and δ , we completely identify the Jacobson radical of rings whose the set of all nilpotent elements has special conditions. Important examples are provided to illustrate the applications of the results.

Abstract:For a Dedekind domain $D$, let $\mathcal{P}(D)$ be the set of ideals of $D$ that are radical of a principal ideal. We show that, if $D,D'$ are Dedekind domains and there is an order isomorphism between $\mathcal{P}(D)$ and $\mathcal{P}(D')$, then the rank of the class groups of $D$ and $D'$ is the same.

Abstract:Let $R$ be a commutative unital ring and $N$ be a submodule of an $R$-module $M$. The submodule $\langle E_M(N)\rangle$ generated by the envelope $E_M(N)$ of $N$ is instrumental in studying rings and modules that satisfy the radical formula. We show that: 1) the semiprime radical is an invariant on all the submodules which are respectively generated by envelopes in the ascending chain of envelopes of a given submodule; 2) for rings that satisfy the radical formula, $\langle E_M(0)\rangle$ is an idempotent radical and it induces a torsion theory whose torsion class consists of all nil $R$-modules and the torsionfree class consists of all reduced $R$-modules; 3) Noetherian uniserial modules satisfy the semiprime radical formula and their semiprime radical is a nil module; and lastly, 4) we construct a sheaf of nil $R$-modules on $\text{Spec}(R)$.

Abstract:We answer a question by Shestakov on the Jacobson radical in differential polynomial rings. We show that if R is a locally nilpotent ring with a derivation D then R[X;D] need not be Jacobson radical. We also show that J(R[X;D])\cap R is a nil ideal of R in the case where D is a locally nilpotent derivation and R is an algebra over an uncountable field.

Abstract:We investigate the structure of power-closed ideals of the complex polynomial ring $R = \mathbb{C}[x_1,\ldots,x_d]$ and the Laurent polynomial ring $R^{\pm} = \mathbb{C}[x_1,\ldots,x_d]^{\pm} = M^{-1}\mathbb{C}[x_1,\ldots,x_d]$, where $M$ is the multiplicative sub-monoid $M = [x_1,\ldots,x_d]$ of $R$. Here, an ideal $I$ is {\em power-closed} if $f(x_1,\ldots,x_d)\in I$ implies $f(x_1^i,\ldots,x_d^i)\in I$ for each natural $i$. In particular, we investigate related closure and interior operators on the set of ideals of $R$ and $R^{\pm}$. Finally, we give a complete description of principal power-closed ideals and of the radicals of general power-closed ideals of $R$ and $R^{\pm}$.

Abstract:The coincidence of the set of all nilpotent elements of a ring with its prime radical has a module analogue which occurs when the zero submodule satisfies the radical formula. A ring $R$ is 2-primal if the set of all nilpotent elements of $R$ coincides with its prime radical. This fact motivates our study in this paper, namely, to compare 2-primal submodules and submodules that satisfy the radical formula. A demonstration of the importance of 2-primal modules in bridging the gap between modules over commutative rings and modules over noncommutative rings is done and new examples of rings and modules that satisfy the radical formula are also given.

Abstract:Let $R$ be a commutative $G$-graded ring with a nonzero unity. In this article, we introduce the concept of graded radically principal ideals. A graded ideal $I$ of $R$ is said to be graded radically principal if $Grad(I)=Grad(\langle c\rangle)$ for some homogeneous $c\in R$, where $Grad(I)$ is the graded radical of $I$. The graded ring $R$ is said to be graded radically principal if every graded ideal of $R$ is graded radically principal. We study graded radically principal rings. We prove an analogue of the Cohen theorem, in the graded case, precisely, a graded ring is graded radically principal if and only if every graded prime ideal is graded radically principal. Finally we study the graded radically principal property for the polynomial ring $R[X]$.
