Abstract:Any bounded tile of the field $\mathbb{Q}_p$ of $p$-adic numbers is a compact open set up to a zero Haar measure set. In this note, we give a simple and direct proof of this fact.

Abstract:This study explores the properties of the function which can tile the field $\mathbb{Q}_p$ of $p$-adic numbers by translation. It is established that functions capable of tiling $\mathbb{Q}_p$ is by translation uniformly locally constancy. As an application, in the field $\mathbb{Q}_p$, we addressed the question posed by H. Leptin and D. Müller, providing the necessary and sufficient conditions for a discrete set to correspond to a uniform partition of unity. The study also connects these tiling properties to the Fuglede conjecture, which states that a measurable set is a tile if and only if it is spectral. The paper concludes by characterizing the structure of tiles in $\mathbb{Q}_p \times \mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z}$, proving that they are spectral sets.

Abstract:Proofs of Tychonoff's theorem often seem to require a bit of magic. Machinery such as ultrafilters, nets or maximal families with the finite intersection property are employed to give proofs that can be very neat, but not the kind of thing that one would naturally think of when presented with the problem (given a background in standard open set topology). Here we present a direct and pretty simple proof of Tychonoff's theorem, straight from the open cover definition of compactness.

Abstract:We prove the following results: (i) Every absolutely weakly compact set in a Banach lattice is absolutely weakly sequentially compact. (ii) The converse of (i) holds if $E$ is separable or $B_{E^{**}}$ is absolutely weak$^*$ compact. (iii) Every absolutely weakly compact subset of a Banach lattice is contained in the closed convex hull of an absolutely weakly null sequence if and only if the Banach lattice has the positive Schur property. Abstract:We prove that fractional Helly and $(p,q)$-theorems imply $(\aleph_0,q)$-theorems in an entirely abstract setting. We give a plethora of applications, including reproving almost all earlier $(\aleph_0,q)$-theorems about geometric hypergraphs that were proved recently. Some of the corollaries are new results, for example, we prove that if $\mathcal{F}$ is an infinite family of convex compact sets in $\mathbb{R}^d$ and among every $\aleph_0$ of the sets some $d+1$ contain a point in their intersection with integer coordinates, then all the members of $\mathcal{F}$ can be hit with finitely many points with integer coordinates.

Abstract:We study the problem of the lower bounds of the modulus of families of paths of order $p,$ $p>n-1,$ and their connection with the geometry of domains containing the specified families. Among other things, we have proved an analogue of Näkki's theorem on the positivity of the $p$-module of families of paths joining a pair of continua in the given domain. The geometry of domains with a strongly accessible boundary in the sense of the $p$-modulus of families of paths was also studied. We show that domains with a $p$-strongly accessible boundary with respect to a $p$-modulus, $p>n-1,$ are are finitely connected at their boundary. The mentioned result generalizes Näkki's result, which was proved for uniform domains in the case of a conformal modulus.

Periodicity of tiles in finite Abelian groups

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the concept of periodic tiling (PT) property for finite abelian groups. A group has the PT property if any non-periodic set that tiles the group by translation has a periodic tiling complement. This property extends the scope beyond groups with the Hajós property. We classify all cyclic groups having the PT property. Additionally, we construct groups that possess the PT property but without the Hajós property. As byproduct, we identify new groups for which the implication ``Tile $\Longrightarrow$ Spectral" holds. For elementary $p$-groups having the PT property, we show that a tile must be a complete set of representatives of the cosets of some subgroup, by analyzing the structure of tiles.

Abstract:Let $F$ be a totally real field in which $p$ is unramified and $B$ be a quaternion algebra which splits at at most one infinite place. Let $\overline{r}:\mathrm{Gal}(\overline{F}/F)\to \mathrm{GL}_2(\overline{\mathbb{F}}_p)$ be a modular Galois representation which satisfies the Taylor-Wiles hypotheses. Assume that for some fixed place $v|p$, $B$ ramifies at $v$ and $F_v$ is isomorphic to $ \mathbb{Q}_p$ and $\overline{r}$ is generic at $v$. We prove that the admissible smooth representations of the quaternion algebra over $\mathbb{Q}_p$ coming from mod $p$ cohomology of Shimura varieties associated to $B$ have Gelfand-Kirillov dimension $1$. As an application we prove that the degree two Scholze's functor vanishes on supersingular representations of $\mathrm{GL}_2(\mathbb{Q}_p)$. We also prove some finer structure theorem about the image of Scholze's functor in the reducible case.

Abstract:Influenced by the concept of a p -compact operator due to Sinha and Karn (Stud Math 150(1): 17–33, 2002), we introduce p -compact Bloch maps of the open unit disk to a complex Banach space X , and obtain its most outstanding properties: surjective Banach ideal property, Möbius invariance, linearisation on the Bloch-free Banach space over , inclusion properties, factorisation of their derivatives, and transposition on the normalized Bloch space. We also present right p -nuclear Bloch maps of to X and study its relation with p -compact Bloch maps.

Abstract:We revisit the topic of probability measures on CAT(0) cube complexes and prove that an amenable group acting on a CAT(0) cube complex, regardless of dimension, necessarily preserves an interval in the Roller compactification. In the finite dimensional case, we prove that there must be an orbit of cardinality $2^N$, where $N$ is bounded by the dimension. This is a slight extension of the author's previous Tits' Alternative.

Abstract:Let T:=T(A,D)$$T:= T(A, \mathcal{D })$$ be a disk-like self-affine tile generated by an integral expanding matrix A$$A$$ and a consecutive collinear digit set D$$\mathcal{D }$$, and let f(x)=x2+px+q$$f(x)=x^{2}+px+q$$ be the characteristic polynomial of A$$A$$. In the paper, we identify the boundary ∂T$$\partial T$$ with a sofic system by constructing a neighbor graph and derive equivalent conditions for the pair (A,D)$$(A,\mathcal{D })$$ to be a number system. Moreover, by using the graph-directed construction and a device of pseudo-norm ω$$\omega $$, we find the generalized Hausdorff dimension dimHω(∂T)=2logρ(M)/log|q|$$\dim _H^{\omega } (\partial T)=2\log \rho (M)/\log |q|$$ where ρ(M)$$\rho (M)$$ is the spectral radius of certain contact matrix M$$M$$. Abstract:It is known Hrushovski and Pillay (Israel J Math 85:203–262, 1994 ) that a group G definable in the field $${\mathbb {Q}}_{p}$$ of p -adic numbers is definably locally isomorphic to the group $$H({\mathbb {Q}}_{p})$$ of p -adic points of a (connected) algebraic group H over $${\mathbb {Q}}_{p}$$. We observe here that if H is commutative then G is commutative-by-finite. This shows in particular that any one-dimensional group G definable in $${\mathbb {Q}}_{p}$$ is commutative-by-finite. This result extends to groups definable in p -adically closed fields. We prove our results in the more general context of geometric structures .

Abstract:We prove that if $G$ is a totally bounded abelian group \st\ its dual group $\widehat{G}_p$ equipped with the finite-open topology is a Baire group, then every compact subset of $G$ must be finite. This solves an open question by Chasco, Domínguez and Tkachenko. {Among other consequences, we obtain an example of a group that is $g$-dense in its completion but is not $g$-barrelled. This solves a question proposed by Au${\beta}$enhofer and Dikranjan.}

Abstract:This article discusses variants of Weber's class number problem in the spirit of arithmetic topology to connect the results of Sinnott--Kisilevsky and Kionke. Let $p$ be a prime number. We first prove the $p$-adic convergence of class numbers in a $\mathbb{Z}_p$-extension of a global field and a similar result in a $\mathbb{Z}_p$-cover of a compact 3-manifold. Secondly, we establish an explicit formula for the $p$-adic limit of the $p$-power-th cyclic resultants of a polynomial using roots of unity of orders prime to $p$, the $p$-adic logarithm, and the Iwasawa invariants. Finally, we give thorough investigations of torus knots, twist knots, and elliptic curves; we complete the list of the cases with $p$-adic limits being in $\mathbb{Z}$ and find the cases such that the base $p$-class numbers are small and $\nu$'s are arbitrarily large.

Abstract:Abstract. We show that a Kleinian surface group, or hyperbolic 3-manifold with a cusp-preserving homotopy-equivalence to a surface, has bounded geometry if and only if there is an upper bound on an associated collection of coefficients that depend only on its end invariants. Bounded geometry is a positive lower bound on the lengths of closed geodesics. When the surface is a once-punctured torus, the coefficients coincide with the continued fraction coefficients associated to the ending laminations.

Abstract:We propose a p-adic version of Duke's Theorem on the equidistribution of closed geodesics on modular curves. Our approach concerns quadratic fields split at p as well as a p-adic covering of the modular curve. We also prove an equidistribution result of Heegner points in the p-adic space attached to Shimura curves.
