Abstract:Let [Formula: see text] be a positive integer, and define [Formula: see text] for [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] denotes the number of distinct prime factors of [Formula: see text], and [Formula: see text] represents the total number of prime factors of [Formula: see text] (counted with multiplicity). In this paper, we study these two zeta functions and related arithmetical functions. We show that [Formula: see text] which is similar to the known identity [Formula: see text] equivalent to the Prime Number Theorem. For [Formula: see text], we prove that [Formula: see text] We also raise a hypothesis on the parities of [Formula: see text] which implies the Riemann Hypothesis.

Abstract:This paper investigates a variant of the famous "happy numbers" sequence, given by A351327 on the oeis. First of all we'll define this integer sequence, and then we'll show some important results about it; in particular we conjectured that if $k$ is a term of the sequence, then it converges to 1 in a number of steps less or equal to 3. Furthermore it will be possible to find some codes written in Wolfram language in order to compute large terms of the sequence and to support our hypothesis. At the end we'll explore some new conjectures and generalizations about this kind of integer sequence.

Abstract:A folklore proof of Euclid's theorem on the infinitude of primes uses the Euler product and the irrationality of $\zeta(2) = \pi^2/6$. A quantified form of Euclid's Theorem is Bertrand's postulate $p_{n+1} < 2p_n$. By quantifying the folklore proof using an irrationality measure for $6/\pi^2$, we give a proof (communicated to Paulo Ribenboim in 2005) of a much weaker upper bound on $p_{n+1}$.
Counting Sets with Surreals. Part I: Sets of Natural Numbers

Abstract:How many odd numbers are there? How many even numbers? From Galileo to Cantor, the suggestion was that there are the same number of odd, even and natural numbers, because all three sets can be mapped in one-one fashion to each other. This jars with our intuition. Cardinality fails to discriminate between sets that are intuitively different in size. The class of \emph{surreal numbers} $\boldsymbol{\mathsf{No}}$ is the largest possible ordered field. In this work we define a function, the \emph{magnum}, mapping the power set of the natural numbers to a subclass of the surreals, the {surnatural numbers} $\boldsymbol{\mathsf{Nn}}$ (the non-negative omnific integers). Set magnums are found to be consistent with our intuition about relative set sizes. The magnum of a proper subset of a set is strictly less than the magnum of the set itself, in harmony with Euclid's axiom ``the whole is greater than the part''. Two approaches are taken to specify magnums. First, they are determined by following the genetic assignment of magnums in the way the surreal numbers themselves are defined. Second, the counting sequence, which is defined for every set of natural numbers, is extended using a Transfer Axiom, to evaluate it on the surnatural numbers. The two methods are shown to be consistent. Several theorems are proved, establishing that the family of sets with magnums form what we call a magnum space. Finally, these theorems are employed to evaluate the magnums of a number of subsets of $\mathbb{N}$.

Abstract:We mainly introduce two new kinds of numbers given by R-n = Sigma(n)(k=0) ((n)(k)) ((n + k)(k)) 1/2k - 1 (n = 0,1,2,...), S-n = Sigma(n)(k=0) ((n)(k))(2) ((2k)(k)) (2k + 1) (n = 0,1,2,...). We find that such numbers have many interesting arithmetic properties. For example, if p 1 (mod 4) is a prime with p = x(2 )+ y(2) (where x 1 (mod 4) and y 0 (mod 2)), then R(p-1)/2 p - (-1)((p-1)/4)2x ( mod p(2)). Also, 1/n(2) Sigma(n-1)(k=0) S-k is an element of Z and 1/n Sigma(n-1)(k=0) S-k(x) is an element of Z[x] for all n = 1,2,..., where S-k(x) = Sigma(k)(j=0) ((k)(j))(2) ((2j)(j)) (2j + 1)x(j). For any positive integers a and n, we show that, somewhat surprisingly, 1/n(2) Sigma(n-1)(k=0)(2k + 1) ((n - 1)(k))(a) ((-n - 1)(k))(a) is an element of Z and 1/n Sigma(n-1)(k=0) ((n - 1)(k))(a) ((-n - 1)(k))(a)/4k(2) - 1 is an element of Z. We also solve a conjecture of V. J. W. Guo and J. Zeng, and pose several conjectures for further research.

Abstract:A simple geometric construction on the moduli spaces $\mathcal{M}_{0,n}$ of curves of genus $0$ with $n$ ordered marked points is described which gives a common framework for many irrationality proofs for zeta values. This construction yields Apéry's approximations to $\zeta(2)$ and $\zeta(3)$, and for larger $n$, an infinite family of small linear forms in multiple zeta values with an interesting algebraic structure. It also contains a generalisation of the linear forms used by Ball and Rivoal to prove that infinitely many odd zeta values are irrational.

Abstract:In the present work we prove a number of surprising results about gaps between consecutive primes and arithmetic progressions in the sequence of generalized twin primes which could not have been proven without the recent fantastic achievement of Yitang Zhang about the existence of bounded gaps between consecutive primes. Most of these results would have belonged to the category of science fiction a decade ago. However, the presented results are far from being immediate consequences of Zhang's famous theorem: they require various new ideas, other important properties of the applied sieve function and a closer analysis of the methods of Goldston-Pintz-Yildirim, Green-Tao, and Zhang, respectively.

Abstract:An positive even number is said to be a Kronecker number if it can be written in infinitely many ways as the difference between two primes, and it is believed that all even numbers are Kronecker numbers. We will study the division and multiplication of Kronecker numbers to study the largeness of the set of Kronecker numbers. A numerical lower bound for the density Kronecker numbers among even numbers is given, and it is proved that there exists a computable constant $k$ and a set $D$ consisting of at most 720 computable Maillet numbers such that, for any integer $n$, $kn$ can be expressed as a product of a Kronecker number with a Maillet number in $D$. Meanwhile, it is proved that every positive rational number can be written as a ratio of two Kronecker numbers.

Abstract:In 1997 K. Ono and K. Soundararajan [Invent. Math. 130(1997)] proved that under the generalized Riemann hypothesis any positive odd integer greater than 2719 can be represented by the famous Ramanujan form x(2) + y(2) + 10z(2); equivalently the form 2x(2) + 5y(2) + 4T(z) represents all integers greater than 1359, where T(z) denotes the triangular number z(z + 1)/2. Given positive integers a, b, c we employ modular forms and the theory of quadratic forms to determine completely when the general form ax(2) + by(2) + cT(z) represents sufficiently large integers and to establish similar results for the forms ax(2) + bT(y) + cT(z) and aT(x) + bT(y) + cT(z). Here are some consequences of our main theorems: (i) All sufficiently large odd numbers have the form 2ax(2) + y(2) + z(2) if and only if all prime divisors of a are congruent to 1 modulo (ii) The form ax(2) + y(2) + T(z) is almost universal (i.e., it represents sufficiently large integers) if and only if each odd prime divisor of a is congruent to 1 or 3 modulo 8. (iii) ax(2) + T(y) + T(z) is almost universal if and only if all odd prime divisors of a are congruent to 1 modulo 4. Abstract:Fix $k \geq 2$. For any $N \geq 1$, let $F_k(N)$ denote the cardinality of the largest subset of $\{1,\dots,N\}$ that does not contain $k$ distinct elements whose product is a square. Erdős, Sárkőzy, and Sós showed that $F_2(N) = (\frac{6}{\pi^2}+o(1)) N$, $F_3(N) = (1-o(1))N$, $F_k(N) \asymp N/\log N$ for even $k \geq 4$, and $F_k(N) \asymp N$ for odd $k \geq 5$. Erdős then asked whether $F_k(N) = (1-o(1)) N$ for odd $k \geq 5$. Using a probabilistic argument, we answer this question in the negative.

Below are five typical examples: (i) For any positive integer n, there exists $k\in \{0,\ldots ,n\}$ such that $n+k$ and $n+k^2$ are both prime. (ii) Each integer $n>1$ can be written as $x+y$ with $x,y\in \{1,2,3,\ldots \}$ such that $x+ny$ and $x^2+ny^2$ are both prime. (iii) For any rational number $r>0$, there are distinct primes $q_1,\ldots ,q_k$ with $r=\sum _{j=1}^k1/(q_j-1)$. (iv) Every $n=4,5,\ldots $ can be written as $p+q$, where p is a prime with $p-1$ and $p+1$ both practical, and q is either prime or practical.
