Abstract:Perovskite solar cells (PSCs), on ac-count of their ever-increasing power conversion efficien-cy (PCE), are capti-vating the industri-alists' great inten-tions. Despite that, the performance of perovskite solar cells, especially the long life span, is the main barrier to PSCs' commercial deployment where the inefficient per-ovskite layer is al-ways convicted as the key reason be-hind it. In reality, the perovskite layer suffers from differ-ent intermediate transformations where dimethyl sul-foxide (DMSO), forming PbI2•DMSO intermediate, plays an essential role in retarding the rapid crystallization of perovskite. There-fore, these inter-mediate phases govern the mor-phologies and crys-tallinities of the fi-nal perovskite films. In the comparison of FAPbI3 and MAP-bI3, which are the two most studied single-cation perov-skites, during in-termediate phases conversions, the PbI2•MAI•DMSO adduct provides high-quality perov-skite than the PbI2•FAI•DMSO ad-duct, which leads to the poor film quali-ty of FA-based sin-gle cation and mixed cations per-ovskites. Herein, the intermolecular ex-change of the DMSO with FAI in PbI2•MAI•DMSO adduct is performed to get MAxFA1-xPbI3 films where the grain size is dra-matically enhanced, and the PCE of 20.79% is obtained with a superior long term stability.
