Abstract:As is known to all, China's main power plant to pulverized coal furnace is given priority to, all the losses from the burning of coal in boiler, exhaust loss is a main power plant boiler heat loss, exhaust smoke temperature is higher, the greater the exhaust heat loss of exhaust temperature data indicated that every 15 ~ 20 °C, exhaust heat loss will be increased by 1%, corresponding to a 2% increase in coal consumption. When the air temperature of exhaust smoke temperature is higher than in boiler, part of heat is produced without being used, which affect the safety of boiler efficiency and operation efficiency, at the same time can also cause serious pollution to the environment. Therefore, it is of great significance to reduce the exhaust temperature effectively.

Abstract:Heat pipe is a high efficient diathermanous element and it doesn't need any accessional drive. There are always thermal concentration and no uniformity temperature field in mechanical components, which affect their whole performance. It is a useful way of utilizing heat pipe to dispel heat and poise temperature field. The application of heat pipe in mechanical components is analyzed and summarized. Based on the condition of energy scarcity and economy, heat pipe will have a wonderful foreground.

Abstract:Blast furnace (BF) ironmaking is the most important process that produces hot metal (HM) from iron-bearing materials continuously, rapidly, and efficiently. To date, the process is considered to have reached its limit in view of the achieved high process efficiency. In addition, the required high-quality materials are expensive and gradually getting depleted. Hot gas injection (HGI) into the shaft of the BF is an emerging technology recognized potential to solve the aforementioned problems. However, so far, limited information and studies are available, most of which are preliminary studies with regard to the feasibility and aerodynamics of the technology. This hindered the understanding and thus the effective use of this technology. This work presents a numerical study of the multiphase flow, heat, and mass transfer in a BF by a CFD-based process model. The effects of injection composition in terms of CO and CO2 contents in HGI are studied first. The calculated results reveal that HGI of 100% CO delivers the best BF performance. Then, the effects of key variables in relation to HGI of 100% CO, including position, rate, and temperature, are systematically studied. The in-furnace states and overall performance parameters have been analysed in detail. The results show that, through appropriate control of the injection variables, it is possible to achieve improved BF performance including low fuel rate and high productivity, which are considerably affected by the HGI parameters. The BF process model is also demonstrated to be a cost-effective tool in optimizing the key variables of HGI in BF for obtaining optimum process efficiency.

Abstract:The water medium heat pipe gas-gas heater (MGGH) is an important part of ultra-low flue gas emission technology for coal-fired boilers, of which the operating environment is bad and the corrosion mechanism of the heat exchange tube is complex, it is a key problem to solve the low temperature corrosion of heat exchange tube.Analysis on corrosive mechanism of the heat exchange tube shows that the low temperature section of the gas reheater in the MGGH is located on the No.II serious corrosion zone. There are two engineering techniques to control the low temperature corrosion rate and the heat exchanger tube materials of 316L, DIN1.4529, plastic and enamel can satisfy the requirement. It finds that the enamel heat exchange tube can meet the engineering requirements through the research and comparison. From several aspects such as the corrosion resistance of sulfuric acid, thermal conductivity, mechanical properties of materials, anti erosion & abrasion resistance and engineering cost, the enamel heat exchange tube can solve the problem of low temperature corrosion. Enamel heat exchange tube has excellent performance of low temperature corrosion resistance, wear resistance and heat conduction, and the capability of heat transfer is superior to the steel pipe. It has been verified that the enamel heat exchange tube can satisfy the technical requirement, and has important engineering application by engineering practice.

Abstract:Taking the primary air enrichment and preheating(PRP) burner as an example,it is shown that high temperature air combustion with high combustion stability and low NO_x emission can be realized on the pulverized coal boiler by use of the high temperature reflow flue gas to rapidly preheat the primary air of low air-coal ratio.The industrial tests and applications indicate that the PRP burner has several characteristics,such as good adaptation to coal ranks,high combustion stability at low load and low NO_x emission.It can effectively control the preheat of the primary air and rapidly preheat the pulverized coal to near igniting point before reaching the burner nozzle due to its specially designed preheat chamber.PRP burner is a practicable burner to realize high temperature combustion in pulverized coal fired boilers.

Therefore,12 coals for practical blast furnace injection were selected in this research and the heat consumption of different chemical phases in com-bustion reaction of coal was analyzed. Consequently,the effective heat of pulverized coal produced by its com-bustion in blast furnace was calculated according to the basic parameters of coals,by which a scientific method for the evaluation of blast furnace injected coal was invented.

Abstract:The enhanced heat transfer technology for pipe and its application in caldron-shell oilfired and gas-fired boilers are introduced, and the heat transfer mechanism of enhanced heat transfer technology and the existing empirical calculation formula of enhanced heat transfer for pipe are analyzed. Recommended parameters for the structure of some enhanced heat transfer elements are given by analyzing the structural features, enhanced heat transfer effects and application conditions of different heat transfer elements, and synthetically considering the factors in heat transfer and flow resistance.

Abstract:Oxygen, fuel and thermal energy are three necessary conditions for the occurrence of fire. The fire doesn't occur without each other. Therefore, all fire extinguishing methods are related to the removal or reduction of one or more of these three factors. It can extinguish the fire to cool combustion temperature below the ignition point of the fuel. Theoretically, the removal of heat from underground will slow down or stop the propagation of coal fires. The heat can be transported from the underground heated by coal fires to surface by use of heat pipes. The influences of the amount of working fluid and air flow on the effectiveness of the heat pipe were investigated. Based on experiments, a filling degree of about 20% to 25% is recommended. Both the pressure inside heat pipe and the temperature of the condensing section decreased considerably with increasing wind velocity, while the heat flow rate changed slightly. Although there are still a lot of works to do, the application of heat pipes to prevent the propagation of coal fire as well as for energy recovery purpose is thinkable.

Abstract:<p>Utility boilers consume a lot of fuel oil during the startup and low-load operation, which leads to the rise of power generation costs and environmental pollution problems. A finned shell-and-tube heat exchanger is proposed to preheat pulverized coal and air flow using thermal oil. Pilot-scale heat exchange tests were carried out to study the effects of the oil temperature, air temperature, air velocity, oil flow rate, coal-air ratio on the preheating performance and resistance properties of the system. Meanwhile, Computational fluid dynamic (CFD) numerical simulations were conducted. The tests verified the technical feasibility of the heat exchanger using thermal oil to preheat the primary air. The proposed preheating process is conducive to environmental protection and energy-saving. The test results show that when the coal-to-air ratio is 0.15, the 190 ℃ of thermal oil can preheat the pulverized coal and air flow from 65.2 ℃ to above 115 ℃. This preheating process will improve the ignition performance of the pulverized coal and air flow, which is favorable for startup and stable operation of the pulverized coal boiler, particularly when the boiler load is low.</p>

Abstract:In this paper, a scaled-down air preheater for a heat pipe is prepared and a visualization experiment system for ash deposition is established. The local and global characteristics of ash deposition and the heat transfer performance of the air preheater are investigated, and the effects of parameters including the gas velocity and the ash concentration are discussed. Experimental results show that a loose ash deposition is formed on the fin of the heat pipe with test time. The ash deposition mass has a maximum at Row #2 and a secondary peak at Row #6 due to the enhanced flow disturbance. With increasing gas velocity, the mass of ash deposition on the windward side gradually decreases, but there is a mass peak on the leeward side. The effect of gas velocity on the mass of ash deposition in the heat pipe fins is severe on the windward side. When the gas velocity reaches or exceeds 10 m/s, the ash deposition mass on the fin is mainly concentrated on the leeward side (>80.1%). Furthermore, as the gas velocity increases or the ash concentration decreases, the total ash deposition mass in the preheater decreases, and the overall heat transfer coefficient increases. The descending range of the heat transfer coefficient over the test time decreases from 10.0% to 4.3% as the gas velocity increases from 6 m/s to 12 m/s and increases from 3.2% to 7.8% as the ash concentration increases from 23 g/m 3 to 38 g/m 3 .

Abstract:For a better utilization of Zhundong coals which have high fouling and slagging tendency, the slag-tap boiler has attracted much attention. To avoid the high sensible heat loss of discharged molten slag, an air-cooling waste heat recovery system is proposed. Energy and economic analyses are conducted to investigate the effectiveness of heating the desulfurized flue gas by hot air and the influences of partially substituting the secondary air by hot air on heat transfer of air preheater and thermal efficiency of boiler. A case study is performed by referring to a typical 50 MW cyclone boiler with nine types of low fusion temperature coals. The results show that for coals with low ash content, the temperature increment of desulfurized flue gas can be over 7 ℃. While for coals with high ash content, the flue gas temperature can be heated to more than 70 ℃, and the surplus hot air can be sent to the furnace. When the hot air is introduced to partially substitute the secondary air, an instantaneous impact on the air preheater will give rise to a decrement of quantity of heat transferred and increments of temperatures of exit flue gas and hot secondary air. The variations of these thermodynamic parameters become smaller with increasing hot air temperature. After introduction of hot air, the thermal efficiency of boiler can increase, resulting in a decrease of fuel consumption rate. In addition, the heating surface area of air preheater can be reduced.

Abstract:Existing designs of small-scale burners and domestic cookers have relied on open flame, where a large amount of heat is lost with flue gas. Flue Gas Recirculation (FGR) has been an effective technique for energy saving for large-scale industrial furnaces. Against this background, an experimental study was conducted to investigate the thermal, emission and heating performance of CH4-H-2/air flames in terms of their dependence on both dilution effect (CO2 and N-2) and preheat effect (initial reactant temperature from 20 degrees C to 100 degrees C).Testing of flame stability showed detrimental and favorable effects of dilution and preheat, respectively. Examination of flame height showed that under constant Re and Phi, the reaction cone is shorter at higher initial reactant temperature, indicative of enhanced burning velocity caused by preheat. Emission of CO and NOx was monotonically increased as the result of higher flame temperature due to preheat.The key question whether flame heating performance can be promoted or not is answered by detailed analysis of the radial heat flux configurations. The data reveals that the combined effects of dilution and preheat indeed induce higher heat transfer rate, thus theoretical evidence is provided for feasibility of adoption of FGR in domestic cookers. Application of Heat Transfer Theory in Analysis and Research for Heat Load of Blast Furnace Wall

Abstract:The heat transfer theory was applied to study the influence of the design parameters of cooling stave, the lining thickness, the frozen slag layer thickness and heat conductivity on heat load of blast furnace wall. The results showed that: the heat load of furnace wall is directly proportional to the diameter of cooling pipe, distance between pipes and heat conductivity of brick, and inversely proportional to the distance between cooling pipe and cooling stave, thickness and area of brick lining; Although the heat load of furnace wall is increased by changing design parameters of cooling stave, the operational temperature on heated surface of wall is instead decreased, which is helpful to protect furnace lining.

Abstract:This paper presents a thermodynamic analysis and a numerical simulation of a heat pipe heat exchanger which recovers both sensible and latent heat from the exhaust gases of boiler with a temperature range from 450K to 600K. Compared with the conventional methods of preventing corrosion by avoiding acid dew point or using the anticorrosive material, a water spray is proposed in this work as an innovation to integrate with the heat pipe heat exchanger, which absorbs the corrosive gas such as SO2, SO3 and NOx from the outlet of boiler. The comprehensive theoretical study has shown the convective heat transfer coefficient under wet condition is 1.5-3 times higher than that of dry condition and the optimal location of the water spray in the system has been identified. Meanwhile a the heat and mass transfer in a thirty-row heat pipe heat exchanger with different locations of a water spray has been established by the FLUENT to analyze the flow field and temperature gradient of the heat pipe heat exchanger. The overall analysis has proven that system efficiency of the boiler and the lifetime of heat exchanger can be effectively enhanced with the application of the water spray.
