Abstract:In this paper, we develop the semiclassical analysis of the lowest dimensional simply connected nilpotent Lie group of step 3, called the Engel group and denoted by ${\mathbb E}$. We are interested in the propagation of the semiclassical measures associated to solutions of the Schrödinger equation for the canonical subLaplacian $\Delta_{\mathbb E}$ and at different time-scales $\tau$. In particular, for $\tau=1$ we recover a quantum-classical correspondence where we observe the fundamental role of abnormal extremal lifts of the Engel group and are able to discuss the speed of the propagation of the singularities. Furthermore, in order to understand the dispersive nature of the subLaplacian, we are led to develop a second-microlocal analysis on particular cones in our phase space. This is done by relating the quasi-contact structure of the group ${\mathbb E}$ to its semiclassical analysis via harmonic analysis. As a consequence, we are able to prove obstruction to local smoothness-type estimates and Strichartz estimates for the Engel subLaplacian.

Abstract:We introduce quantum super-spherical pairs as coideal subalgebras in general linear and orthosymplectic quantum supergroups. These subalgebras play a role of isotropy subgroups for matrices solving $\mathbb{Z}_2$-graded reflection equation. They generalize quantum (pseudo)-symmetric pairs of Letzter-Kolb-Regelskis-Vlaar.

Symmetries of quantization of finite groupoids

Abstract:This paper proves certain facts concerning the equivariance of quantization of pi-finite spaces. We argue that these facts establish an analogy between this quantization procedure and the geometric quantization of a symplectic vector space. Specifically, we observe that symmetries of a given polarization/Lagrangian always induce coherent symmetries of the quantization. On the other hand, symmetries of the entire phase space a priori only induce projective symmetries. For certain three-dimensional theories, this projectivity appears via a twice-categorified analogue of Blattner-Kostant-Sternberg kernels in geometric quantization and the associated integral transforms.

Abstract:Powers has shown that each spatial E_0-semigroup can be obtained from the boundary weight map of a CP-flow acting on B(K \otimes L^2(0, \infty)) for some separable Hilbert space K. In this paper, we define boundary weight maps through boundary weight doubles (\phi, \nu), where \phi: M_n(\C) \to M_n(\C) is a q-positive map and \nu is a boundary weight over L^2(0, \infty). These doubles induce CP-flows over K for 1<dim(K)<\infty which then minimally dilate to E_0-semigroups by a theorem of Bhat. Through this construction, we obtain uncountably many mutually non-cocycle conjugate E_0-semigroups for each n>1, n \in \mathbb{N}.

Abstract:In these notes we prove two main results: 1) It is well-known that two strongly continuous $E_0$-semigroups on $B(H)$ can be paired if and only if they have anti-isomorphic Arveson systems. For a new notion of pairing (which coincides only for $B(H)$ with the existing one), we show: For a von Neumann algebra $B$, a strongly continuous $E_0$-semigroup on $B$ and a strongly continuous $E_0$-semigroup on $B'$ can be paired if and only if their product systems are commutants of each other. 2) On the way to prove the former, en passant we have to fill in a long standing important gap in the theory of intertwiner product systems à la Arveson (known, so far, only for $B(H)$ in the separable case): Intertwiner product systems of faithful strongly continuous $E_0$-semigroups on von Neumann algebras have sufficiently many strongly continuous sections. Both results are out of reach for Arveson's methods [Arv89,Arv90] (which work only in the case $B(H)$; see Remark 1.6, especially, Footnote (f)) and based on the alternative approach from Skeide [Ske16].

Quantization of open-closed BCOV theory, I

Abstract: This is the first in a series of papers which analyze the problem of quantizing the theory coupling Kodaira-Spencer gravity (or BCOV theory) on Calabi-Yau manifolds using the formalism for perturbative QFT developed by the first author. In this paper, we focus on flat space $\mathbb{C}^d$ for $d$ odd. We prove that there exists a unique quantization of the theory coupling BCOV theory and holomorphic Chern-Simons theory with gauge group the supergroup $GL(N \mid N)$. We deduce a canonically defined quantization of BCOV theory on its own. We also discuss some conjectural links between BCOV theory in various dimensions and twists of physical theories: in complex dimension $3$ we conjecture a relationship to twists of $(1,0)$ supersymmetric theories and in complex dimension $5$ to a twist of type IIB supergravity.

Abstract:We develop a $\mathtt{q}$-analogue of the theory of conjugation equivariant $\mathcal D$-modules on a complex reductive group $G$. In particular, we define quantum Hotta-Kashiwara modules and compute their endomorphism algebras. We use the Schur-Weyl functor of the second author, and develop tools from the corresponding double affine Hecke algebra to study this category in the cases $G=GL_N$ and $SL_N$. Our results also have an interpretation in skein theory (explored further in a sequel paper), namely a computation of the $GL_N$ and $SL_N$-skein algebra of the 2-torus.

Abstract:We provide a novel construction of quantized universal enveloping $*$-algebras of real semisimple Lie algebras, based on Letzter's theory of quantum symmetric pairs. We show that these structures can be `integrated', leading to a quantization of the group C$^*$-algebra of an arbitrary semisimple algebraic real Lie group.

Abstract:Consider a decomposition $\mathfrak{n} = \mathfrak{n}_1 \oplus \cdots \oplus \mathfrak{n}_r$ of the positive nilradical of a complex semisimple Lie algebra of rank $r$, where each $\mathfrak{n}_k$ is a module under an appropriate Levi factor. We show that this can be quantized as a finite-dimensional subspace $\mathfrak{n}^q_k = \mathfrak{n}^q_1 \oplus \cdots \oplus \mathfrak{n}^q_r$ of the positive part of the quantized enveloping algebra, where each $\mathfrak{n}^q_k$ is a module under the left adjoint action of a quantized Levi factor. Furthermore, we show that $\mathbb{C} \oplus \mathfrak{n}^q$ is a left coideal, with the possible exception of components corresponding to some exceptional Lie algebras. Finally we use these quantizations to construct covariant first-order differential calculi on quantum flag manifolds, compatible in a certain sense with the decomposition above, which coincide with those introduced by Heckenberger-Kolb in the irreducible case.

Abstract:In this paper we discuss dilaton shifts (Euler counterterms) arising in decomposition of two-dimensional quantum field theories with higher-form symmetries. Relative shifts between universes are fixed by locality and take a universal form, reflecting underlying (noninvertible, quantum) symmetries. The first part of this paper constructs a general formula for such dilaton shifts, and discusses related computations. In the second part of this paper, we comment on the relation between decomposition and ensembles.

On the Quantum Metaplectic Howe Duality

Abstract:We establish a quantum analogue of the classical metaplectic Howe duality involving the pair of Lie algebras $(\mathfrak{sp}_{2n},\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ in the case when $n=1$. Our results yield commuting representations of the pair of Drinfeld-Jimbo quantum groups $(\mathcal U_{q^2}(\mathfrak{sl}_2),\mathcal U_{q}(\mathfrak{sl}_2))$ realized in a suitable algebra of $q$-differential operators acting on the space of symplectic polynomial spinors. We obtain $q$-analogues for the symplectic Dirac operator, the Fischer decomposition, the expression for the symplectic polynomial monogenics and for the projection operators onto the monogenics. We also discuss $q$-analogues of generalized symmetries of the $q$-symplectic Dirac operator raising the homogeneous polynomial degree.

Abstract:In this paper we study two semigroups of completely positive unital self-adjoint maps on the von Neumann algebras of the free orthogonal quantum group O-N(+) and the free permutation quantum group S-N(+). We show that these semigroups satisfy ultracontractivity and hypercontractivity estimates. We also give results regarding spectral gap and logarithmic Sobolev inequalities.

Abstract:Certain quantization problems are equivalent to the construction of morphisms from "quantum" to "classical" props. Once such a morphism is constructed, Hensel's lemma shows that it is in fact an isomorphism. This gives a new, simple proof that any Etingof-Kazhdan quantization functor is an equivalence of categories between quantized universal enveloping (QUE) algebras and Lie bialgebras over a formal series ring (dequantization). We apply the same argument to construct dequantizations of formal solutions of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation and of quasitriangular QUE algebras. We also give structure results for the props involved in quantization of Lie bialgebras, which yield an associator-independent proof that the prop of QUE algebras is a flat deformation of the prop of co-Poisson universal enveloping algebras.

Isometric Dilations for Representations of Product Systems

Abstract:We discuss representations of product systems (of $W^*$-correspondences) over the semigroup $\mathbb{Z}^n_+$ and show that, under certain pureness and Szego positivity conditions, a completely contractive representation can be dilated to an isometric representation. For $n=1,2$ this is known to hold in general (without assuming the conditions) but, for $n\geq 3$, it does not hold in general (as is known for the special case of isometric dilations of a tuple of commuting contractions). Restricting to the case of tuples of commuting contractions, our result reduces to a result of Barik, Das, Haria and Sarkar.

Abstract:We perform a phase space analysis of evolution equations associated with the Weyl quantization $q^{\mathrm{w}}$ of a complex quadratic form $q$ on $\mathbb{R}^{2d}$ with non-positive real part. In particular, we obtain pointwise bounds for the matrix coefficients of the Gabor wave packet decomposition of the generated semigroup $e^{tq^{\mathrm{w}}}$ if $\mathrm{Re} (q) \le 0$ and the companion singular space associated is trivial, with explicit and sharp exponential time decay rate. This result is then leveraged to achieve a comprehensive analysis of the phase regularity of $e^{tq^{\mathrm{w}}}$ with $\mathrm{Re} (q) \le 0$, hence extending the $L^2$ analysis of quadratic semigroups initiated by Hitrik and Pravda-Starov to general modulation spaces $M^p(\mathbb{R}^d)$, $1 \le p \le \infty$.
