Abstract:Poly-Bernoulli numbers are one of generalizations of the classical Bernoulli numbers. Since a negative index poly-Bernoulli number is an integer, it is an interesting problem to study this number from combinatorial viewpoint. In this short article, we give a new combinatorial relation between symmetrized poly-Bernoulli numbers and the Dumont-Foata polynomials.

Abstract:We consider compositions of natural numbers when there are different types of each natural number. Several recursions as well as some closed formulas for the number of compositions is derived. We also find its relationships with some known classes of integers such as Fibonacci, Catalan, Pell, Pell-Lucas, and Jacobsthal numbers.

Abstract:In this note we augment the poly-Bernoulli family with two new combinatorial objects. We derive formulas for the relatives of the poly-Bernoulli numbers using the appropriate variations of combinatorial interpretations. Our goal is to show connections between the different areas where poly-Bernoulli numbers and their relatives appear and give examples how the combinatorial methods can be used for deriving formulas between integer arrays.

Abstract:Zhao established the following harmonic congruence for prime p > 3:Sigma(i,j,k>0i+j+k=p) 1/ijk equivalent to -2B(p-3) (mod p).In this note, the authors improve it to the following congruence for prime p > 5:Sigma(i,j,k>0i+j+k=p) 1/ijk equivalent to 12B(p-3)/p-3 - 3B(2p-4)/p-2 (mod p(2)).Meanwhile, they also improve a generalization of Zhao's congruence and extend Eisenstein's congruence.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a composition of exponential generating functions. We obtain new properties of this composition, which allow to distinguish prime numbers from composite numbers. Using the result of paper we get the known properties of the Bell numbers(Touchard's Congruence for $k=0$) and new properties of the Euler numbers. Abstract:This is a collection of definitions, notations and proofs for the Bernoulli numbers $B_n$ appearing in formulas for the sum of integer powers, some of which can be found scattered in the large related historical literature in French, English and German. We provide elementary proofs for the original convention with ${\mathcal B}_1=1/2$ and also for the current convention with $B_1=-1/2$, using only the binomial theorem and the concise Blissard symbolic (umbral) notation.

Abstract:Integer compositions of n are viewed as bargraphs with n circular nodes or square cells in which the i th part of the composition is given by the i th column of the bargraph with nodes or cells. The sun is at infinity in the north west of our two dimensional model and each node/cell may or may not be lit depending on whether it stands in the shadow cast by another node/cell to its left. We study the number of lit nodes in an integer composition of n and later we modify this to yield the number of lit square cells. We then count the number of columns being lit which leads naturally to those cases where only the first column is lit. We prove the theorem that the generating function for the latter is the same as the generating function for compositions in which the first part is strictly smallest. This theorem has interesting q -series identities as corollaries which allow us to deduce in a simple way the asymptotics for both the number of lit nodes and columns as .

Abstract:In analogy with the semi-Fibonacci partitions studied recently by Andrews, we define semi-Pell compositions and semi-$m$-Pell compositions. Abstract:We classify entanglement singularities for various two-mode bosonic systems in terms of catastrophe theory. Employing an abstract phase-space representation, we obtain exact results in limiting cases for the entropy in cusp, butterfly, and two-dimensional catastrophes. We furthermore use numerical results to extract the scaling of the entropy with the non-linearity parameter, and discuss the role of mixing entropies in more complex systems.
