Abstract:We find an extension of the quasi-metric (to be called $g$-quasi metric) such that the induced generalized topology may fail to form a topology. We show that $g$-quasi metrizability is a $g$-topologically invariant property of generalized topological spaces. Extending metric product and uniform continuity for $g$-quasi metric spaces, we note that a $g$-quasi metric may fail to be uniformly continuous in the extended sense unlike usual metric. Finally, we extend the study of completeness, Lebesgue property and weak $G$-completeness for $g$-quasi metric spaces.

Abstract:Given a polarized Kähler manifold (X,L). The space ℋ of Kähler metrics in $$ 2_\Pi {c_1}{(L)}$$ is an infinite-dimensional Riemannian symmetric space. As a metric space, it has non-positive curvature. There is associated to ℋ a sequence of finite-dimensional symmetric spaces $$ \mathcal{B}_{k}{({k}\, \epsilon \,\mathbb{N})} $$ of non-compact Type. We prove that ℋ is the limit of $$ \mathcal{B}_{k} $$ as metric spaces in certain sense. As applications, this provides more geometric proofs of certain known geometric properties of the space ℋ.

Abstract:First, we explain some ambiguities of spacetime and metric field as fundamental concepts. Then, from the Unruh effect point of view and using the Gelfand-Naimark-Segal construction, we construct an operator as a quanta of acceleration that we call quantum acceleration operator (QAO). Thereupon, we investigate the relation between the vacuum of two different frames in the Minkowski space. Also, we show that the vacuum of each accelerated frame in the Minkowski space can be obtained by applying such a QAO to the Minkowski vacuum. Furthermore, utilizing these QAOs, we augment the Hilbert space and then extract the metric field of a general frame of the Minkowski spacetime. In this approach, these concepts emerge from the Hilbert space through the constructed QAOs. Accordingly, such an augmented Hilbert space includes quantum field theory in a general frame and can be considered as a fundamental concept instead of the classical metric field and the standard Hilbert space.

Abstract:Precipitating a notion emerging from recent research, we formalise the study of a special class of compact quantum metric spaces. Abstractly, the additional requirement we impose on the underlying order unit spaces is the Riesz interpolation property. In practice, this means that a `quantum metric Choquet simplex' arises as a unital $\mathrm{C}^*$-algebra $A$ whose trace space is equipped with a metric inducing the $w^*$-topology, such that tracially Lipschitz elements are dense in $A$. This added structure is designed for measuring distances in and around the category of stably finite classifiable $\mathrm{C}^*$-algebras, and in particular for witnessing metric and statistical properties of the space of (approximate unitary equivalence classes of) unital embeddings of $A$ into a stably finite classifiable $\mathrm{C}^*$-algebra $B$. Our reference frame for this measurement is a certain compact `nucleus' of $A$ provided by its quantum metric structure. As for the richness of the metric space of isometric isomorphism classes of classifiable $\mathrm{C}^*$-algebraic quantum metric Choquet simplices (equipped with Rieffel's quantum Gromov--Hausdorff distance), we show how to construct examples starting from Bauer simplices associated to compact metric spaces. We also explain how to build non-Bauer examples by forming `quantum crossed products' associated to dynamical systems on the tracial boundary. Further, we observe that continuous fields of quantum spaces are obtained by continuously varying either the dynamics or the metric. In the case of deformed isometric actions, we show that equivariant Gromov--Hausdorff continuity implies fibrewise continuity of the quantum structures. As an example, we present a field of deformed quantum rotation algebras whose fibres are continuous with respect to a quasimetric called the quantum intertwining gap.

A metric uniformization model for the Quasi-Fuchsian space

Abstract:We introduce and study a novel uniformization metric model for the quasi-Fuchsian space QF(S) of a closed oriented surface S, defined through a class of C-valued bilinear forms on S, called Bers metrics, which coincide with hyperbolic Riemannian metrics along the Fuchsian locus. By employing this approach, we present a new model of the holomorphic tangent bundle of QF(S) that extends the metric model for Teichmüller space defined by Berger and Ebin, and give an integral representation of the Goldman symplectic form and of the holomorphic extension of the Weil-Petersson metric to QF(S), with a new proof of its existence and non-degeneracy. We also determine new bounds for the Schwarzian of Bers projective structures extending Kraus estimate. Lastly, we use this formalism to give alternative proofs to several classic results in quasi-Fuchsian theory.

Abstract:AbstractIn this paper, we study quasi-metric spaces using domain theory. Given a quasi-metric space (X,d), we use $({\bf B}(X,d),\leq^{d^{+}}\!)$ to denote the poset of formal balls of the associated quasi-metric space (X,d). We introduce the notion of local Yoneda-complete quasi-metric spaces in terms of domain-theoretic properties of $({\bf B}(X,d),\leq^{d^{+}}\!)$ . The manner in which this definition is obtained is inspired by Romaguera–Valero theorem and Kostanek–Waszkiewicz theorem. Furthermore, we obtain characterizations of local Yoneda-complete quasi-metric spaces via local nets in quasi-metric spaces. More precisely, we prove that a quasi-metric space is local Yoneda-complete if and only if every local net has a d-limit. Finally, we prove that every quasi-metric space has a local Yoneda completion.

Abstract:We study the Gromov-Hausdorff convergence of metric pairs and metric tuples and prove the equivalence of different natural definitions of this concept. We also prove embedding, completeness and compactness theorems in this setting. Finally, we get a relative version of Fukaya's theorem about quotient spaces under Gromov--Hausdorff equivariant convergence and a version of Grove-Petersen--Wu's finiteness theorem for stratified spaces.

Abstract:We present developments in the theory of Korevaar-Schoen-Sobolev spaces on metric measure spaces. While this theory coincides with those of Cheeger and Shanmugalingam if the space is doubling and satisfies a Poincar\'e inequality, it offers new perspectives in the context of fractals for which the approach by weak upper gradients is inadequate.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a characterization of compact quantum metric spaces in terms of finite dimensional approximations. This characterization naturally leads to the introduction of a matrix analogue of a compact quantum metric space. As an application, we show that matrix compact quantum metric spaces are stable under minimal tensor products and more specifically that matrix spectral metric spaces are stable under the external product operation on unital spectral triples. We present several noncommutative examples of matrix compact quantum metric spaces.

Abstract:As a generalization of Hausdorff's extension theorem of metrics, we prove an interpolation theorem of a family of metrics defined on closed subsets of metrizable spaces. As an application, we investigate typicality of subsets of moduli spaces of metrics. We observe that various sets of all metrics with properties appearing in metric geometry are dense intersections of countable open subsets in spaces of metrics on metrizable spaces. For instance, our study is applicable to the set of all non-doubling metrics and the set of all non-uniformly disconnected metrics.

Abstract:For a space $X$, let $(CL(X), \tau_V)$, $(CL(X), \tau_{locfin})$ and $(CL(X), \tau_F)$ be the set $CL(X)$ of all nonempty closed subsets of $X$ which are endowed with Vietoris topology, locally finite topology and Fell topology respectively. We prove that $(CL(X), \tau_V)$ is quasi-metrizable if and only if $X$ is a separable metrizable space and the set of all non-isolated points of $X$ is compact, $(CL(X), \tau_{locfin})$ is quasi-metrizable or symmetrizable if and only if $X$ is metrizable and the set of all non-isolated points of $X$ is compact, and $(CL(X), \tau_F)$ is quasi-metrizable if and only if $X$ is hemicompact and metrizable. As an application, we give a negative answer to a Conjecture in \cite{LL2022}.

Abstract:We propose a new definition of quantum metric spaces, or W*-metric spaces, in the setting of von Neumann algebras. Our definition effectively reduces to the classical notion in the atomic abelian case, has both concrete and intrinsic characterizations, and admits a wide variety of tractable examples. A natural application and motivation of our theory is a mutual generalization of the standard models of classical and quantum error correction.

Abstract:In these notes we generalize the notion of a (pseudo) metric measuring the distance of two points, to a (pseudo) n -metric which assigns a value to a tuple of points. Some elementary properties of pseudo n -metrics are provided and their construction via exterior products is investigated. We discuss some examples from the geometry of Euclidean vector spaces leading to pseudo n -metrics on the unit sphere, on the Stiefel manifold, and on the Grassmann manifold. Further, we construct a pseudo n -metric on hypergraphs and discuss the problem of generalizing the Hausdorff metric for closed sets to a pseudo n -metric.

Abstract:The main purpose of this paper is to study complex valued metric-like spaces as an extension of metric-like spaces, complex valued partial metric spaces, partial metric spaces, complex valued metric spaces and metric spaces. In this article, the concepts such as quasi-equal points, completely separate points, convergence of a sequence, Cauchy sequence, cluster points and complex diameter of a set are defined in a complex valued metric-like space. Moreover, this paper is an attempt to present compatibility definitions for the complex distance between a point and a subset of a complex valued metric-like space and also for the complex distance between two subsets of a complex valued metric-like space. In addition, the topological properties of this space are also investigated.
