Abstract:A method for the deformation quantization of coadjoint orbits of semisimple Lie groups is proposed. It is based on the algebraic structure of the orbit. Its relation to geometric quantization and differentiable deformations is explored.

Abstract:In this work, we present straightforward and concrete computations of the unitary irreducible representations of the Euclidean motion group $M(2)$ employing the methods of deformation quantization. Deformation quantization is a quantization method of classical mechanics and is an autonomous approach to quantum mechanics, arising from the Wigner quasiprobability distributions and Weyl correspondence. We advertise the utility and power of deformation theory in Lie group representations. In implementing this idea, many aspects of the method of orbits is also learned, thus further adding to the mathematical toolkit of the beginning graduate student of physics. Furthermore, the essential unity of many topics in mathematics and physics (such as Lie groups and Lie algebras, quantization, functional analysis and symplectic geometry) is witnessed, an aspect seldom encountered in textbooks, in an elementary way.

Abstract:On a one-dimensional lattice without uniform interval, the Hermitian conjugation of a q-differential operator is discussed. Then a deformation of quantum mechanics in one dimension is presented. As an application, the harmonic oscillator is discussed. The energy spectrum and the eigenfunctions are shown to depend on an arbitrary deformation function. The deformed coherent states are also discussed. It is found that the completeness relation of coherent states holds for the case of q-coherent states, i.e. the deformation of the Heisenberg-Weyl algebra is a q-analogue Hopf algebra.

Abstract:These notes present a quick introduction to the q-deformations of semisimple Lie groups from the point of view of unitary representation theory. In order to remain concrete, we concentrate entirely on the case of the lie algebra $\mathrm{sl}(2,\mathbb{C})$ and its associated compact and complex semisimple Lie groups $\mathrm{SU}(2)$ and $\mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb{C})$.

Abstract:As a generalization of the linear Poisson bracket on the dual space of a Lie algebra, we introduce certain non-linear Poisson brackets which are ``cocycle perturbations'' of the linear Poisson bracket. We show that these special Poisson brackets are equivalent to Poisson brackets of central extension type, which resemble the central extensions of an ordinary Lie bracket via Lie algebra cocycles. We are able to formulate (strict) deformation quantizations of these Poisson brackets by means of twisted group C*-algebras. We also indicate that these deformation quantizations can be used to construct some specific non-compact quantum groups.

We classify all noncommutative projective schemes obtained from the differential chains in the universal enveloping algebra of the free nilpotent Lie algebra of index q generated by . Abstract:In this paper, we explore the quantization of Kähler manifolds, focusing on the relationship between deformation quantization and geometric quantization. We provide a classification of degree 1 formal quantizable functions in the Berezin-Toeplitz deformation quantization, establishing that these formal functions are of the form $f = f_0 - \frac{\hbar}{4\pi}(\Delta f_0 + c)$ for a certain smooth (non-formal) function $f_0$. If $f_0$ is real-valued then $f_0$ corresponds to a Hamiltonian Killing vector field. In the presence of Hamiltonian $G$-symmetry, we address the compatibility between the infinitesimal symmetry for deformation quantization via quantum moment map and infinitesimal symmetry on geometric quantization acting on Hilbert spaces of holomorphic sections via Berezin-Toeplitz quantization.

A Formal Equivalence of Deformation Quantization and Geometric Quantization (of Higher Groupoids) and Non-Perturbative Sigma Models

Abstract:Based on work done by Bonechi, Cattaneo, Felder and Zabzine on Poisson sigma models, we formally show that Kontsevich's star product can be obtained from the twisted convolution algebra of the geometric quantization of a Lie 2-groupoid, one which integrates the Poisson structure. We show that there is an analogue of the Poisson sigma model which is valued in Lie 1-groupoids and which can often be defined non-perturbatively; it can be obtained by symplectic reduction using the quantization of the Lie 2-groupoid. We call these groupoid-valued sigma models and we argue that, when they exist, they can be used to compute correlation functions of gauge invariant observables. This leads to a (possibly non-associative) product on the underlying space of functions on the Poisson manifold, and in several examples we show that we recover strict deformation quantizations, in the sense of Rieffel. Even in the cases when our construction leads to a non-associative product we still obtain a $C^*$-algebra and a "quantization" map. In particular, we construct noncommutative $C^*$-algebras equipped with an $SU(2)$-action, together with an equivariant "quantization" map from $C^{\infty}(S^2)\,.$ No polarizations are used in the construction of these algebras.

Abstract:We provide a novel construction of quantized universal enveloping $*$-algebras of real semisimple Lie algebras, based on Letzter's theory of quantum symmetric pairs. We show that these structures can be `integrated', leading to a quantization of the group C$^*$-algebra of an arbitrary semisimple algebraic real Lie group.

Deformation Quantization via Categorical Factorization Homology

Abstract:This paper develops an approach to categorical deformation quantization via factorization homology. We show that a quantization of the local coefficients for factorization homology is equivalent to consistent quantizations of its value on manifolds. To formulate our results we introduce the concepts of shifted almost Poisson and BD categories. Our main example is the character stack of flat principal bundles for a reductive algebraic group $G$, where we show that applying the general framework to the Drinfeld category reproduces deformations previously introduced by Li-Bland and Ševera. As a direct consequence, we can conclude a precise relation between their quantization and those introduced by Alekseev, Grosse, and Schomerus. To arrive at our results we compute factorization homology with values in a ribbon category enriched over complete $\mathbb{C}[[\hbar]]$-modules. More generally, we define enriched skein categories which compute factorization homology for ribbon categories enriched over a general closed symmetric monoidal category $\mathcal{V}$.

Abstract:Kashiwara, Polesello, Schapira and D'Agnolo defined canonical deformation quantizations of a holomorphic symplectic manifold and a holomorphic Lagrangian submanifold equipped with an orientation data. The goal of this paper is to use deformation quantization modules to construct a Fukaya-like category of holomorphic Lagrangians, resolving a conjecture of Joyce. Our main result describes the RHom complex between two such deformation quantization modules associated to a pair of Lagrangian submanifolds in terms of the derived geometry of the Lagrangian intersection. Namely, we identify the RHom complex with the DT sheaf associated to the d-critical structure on the Lagrangian intersection. Via a Riemann-Hilbert correspondence this describes the RHom complex in the category of microsheaves of sheaf quantizations of conic holomorphic Lagrangians.

Abstract:We investigate formal deformations of certain classes of nonassociative algebras including classes of K[{\Sigma}3]-associative algebras, Lie-admissible algebras and anti-associative algebras. In a process which is similar to Poisson algebra for the associative case we identify for each type of algebra (A, {\mu}), an algebra (A, {\mu}, {\psi}) such that the formal deformation (A[[t]], {\mu}t) is the quantization deformation of (A, {\mu}, {\psi}). The process of polarization/depolarization associate to each nonassociative algebra a couple of algebras which products are respectively commutative and skew-symmetric and is linked with the algebra obtained from the formal deformation. Abstract:Let $X$ be a compact connected Riemann surface, and let ${\mathcal Q}(r,d)$ denote the quot scheme parametrizing the torsion quotients of ${\mathcal O}^{\oplus r}_X$ of degree $d$. Given a projective structure $P$ on $X$, we show that the cotangent bundle $T^*{\mathcal U}$ of a certain nonempty Zariski open subset ${\mathcal U}\, \subset\, {\mathcal Q}(r,d)$, equipped with the natural Liouville symplectic form, admits a canonical deformation quantization. When $r\,=\,1\,=\, d$, then ${\mathcal Q}(r,d)\,=\, X$; this case was addressed earlier in \cite{BB}.

Abstract:The orbit-fixing deformation spaces of $C^\infty$ locally free actions of simply connected Lie groups on closed $C^\infty$ manifolds have been studied by several authors. In this paper we reformulate the deformation space by imitating the Teichmüller space of a surface. The new formulation seems to be more appropriate for actions of Lie groups which are not simply connected. We also consider actions which may not be locally free, and generalize the deformation spaces for actions of Lie groupoids. Furthermore by using bornologies on Lie groupoids, we make the definition of the deformation space more suitable to deal with actions on noncompact manifolds. In this generality we prove that "cocycle rigidity" implies the deformation space is a point. We compute the deformation space of the action of $\mathop{\mathrm{PSL}}(2,\mathbb{R})$ on $\Gamma\backslash\mathop{\mathrm{PSL}}(2,\mathbb{R})$ by right multiplication for a torsion free cocompact lattice $\Gamma$ in $\mathop{\mathrm{PSL}}(2,\mathbb{R})$.
