Abstract:For a simple vertex operator algebra $V$ and a finite automorphism group $G$ of $V$ then $V$ is a direct sum of $V^{\chi}$ where $\chi$ are irreducible character of $G$ and $V^{\chi}$ is the subspace of $V$ which $G$ acts according to the character $\chi.$ We prove the following: 1. Each $V^{\chi}$ is nonzero. 2. $V^{\chi}$ is a tensor product $M_{\chi}\otimes V_{\chi}$ where $M_{\chi}$ is an irreducible $G$-module affording $\chi$ and $V_{\chi}$ is a $V^G$-module. If $G$ is solvable, $V_{\chi}$ is a simple $V^G$-module and $M_{\chi}\mapsto $V_{\chi}$ is a bijection from the set of irreducible $G$-modules to the set of (inequivalent) simple $V^G$-modules which are contained in $V.$

Abstract:We reconstruct a quantum group associated with any Lie algebra together with its representation theory from twisted homologies of generalized configuration spaces of disks. Along the way it brings new combinatorics to the theory, but our diagrams represent true submanifolds of configuration spaces and combinatorial relations between them translate actual twisted homological relations.

Abstract:We introduce a quantum loop group associated to a general symmetric Cartan matrix, by imposing just enough relations between the usual generators $\{e_{i,k}, f_{i,k}\}_{i \in I, k \in \mathbb{Z}}$ in order for the natural Hopf pairing between the positive and negative halves of the quantum loop group to be perfect. As an application, we describe the localized K-theoretic Hall algebra of any quiver without loops, endowed with a particularly important $\mathbb{C}^*$ action.

Abstract:We study the topological structure of the automorphism groups of compact quantum groups showing that, in parallel to a classical result due to Iwasawa, the connected component of identity of the automorphism group and of the “inner” automorphism group coincide. For compact matrix quantum groups, which can be thought of as quantum analogues of compact Lie groups, we prove that the inner automorphism group is a compact Lie group and the outer automorphism group is discrete. Applications of this to the study of group actions on compact quantum groups are highlighted. We end by providing examples of compact matrix quantum groups with infinitely-generated fusion rings, in stark contrast with the classical situation. Along the way we study the invariant theory of finite group actions on free Laurent rings and show that the rings of invariants are, in general, not finitely generated.

Abstract:In this paper we complete in several aspects the picture of locally compact quantum groups. First of all we give a definition of a locally compact quantum group in the von Neumann algebraic setting and show how to deduce from it a $C^*$-algebraic quantum group. Further we prove several results about locally compact quantum groups which are important for applications, but were not yet settled in our paper [8]. We prove a serious strengthening of the left invariance of the Haar weight, and we give several formulas connecting the locally compact quantum group with its dual. Loosely speaking we show how the antipode of the locally compact quantum group determines the modular group and modular conjugation of the dual locally compact quantum group.

We classify the primitive ideals and simple modules of Fq(G) and Uq(g) over an algebraically closed field of arbitrary characteristic. We determine their groups of automorphisms over a field of characteristic zero.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a locally compact group. Consider the C$^*$-algebra $C_0(G)$ of continuous complex functions on $G$, tending to 0 at infinity. The product in $G$ gives rise to a coproduct $\Delta_G$ on the C$^*$-algebra $C_0(G)$. A locally compact {\it quantum} group is a pair $(A,\Delta)$ of a C$^*$-algebra $A$ with a coproduct $\Delta$ on $A$, satisfying certain conditions. The definition guarantees that the pair $(C_0(G),\Delta_G)$ is a locally compact quantum group and that conversely, every locally compact quantum group $(A,\Delta)$ is of this form when the underlying C$^*$-algebra $A$ is abelian. Assume now that $G$ is a locally compact group with a compact open subgroup $K$. The algebra of complex functions on $G$ of {\it polynomial type} is a dense multiplier Hopf $^*$-algebra with positive integrals (i.e. an algebraic quantum group}. The characteristic function of $K$ is a group-like projection in this algebraic quantum group. In this paper, we study group-like projections in an arbitrary algebraic quantum group. We find several associated objects that generalize the classical objects associated to a compact open subgroup of a locally compact group.

Abstract:In this talk we describe our recent work on discrete quantum theory based on Galois fields. In particular, we discuss how discrete quantum theory sheds new light on the foundations of quantum theory and we review an explicit model of super-quantum correlations we have constructed in this context. We also discuss the larger questions of the origins and foundations of quantum theory, as well as the relevance of super-quantum theory for the quantum theory of gravity.

Abstract:We study a conformal field theory that arises in the infinite-volume limit of a spin chain with $U_q(sl_2)$ global symmetry. Most operators in the theory are defect-ending operators which allows $U_q(sl_2)$ symmetry transformations to act on them in a consistent way. We use Coulomb gas techniques to construct correlation functions and compute all OPE coefficients of the model, as well as to prove that the properties imposed by the quantum group symmetry are indeed satisfied by the correlation functions. In particular, we treat the non-chiral operators present in the theory. Free boson realization elucidates the origin of the defects attached to the operators. We also comment on the role of quantum group in generalized minimal models.

Quantisation of semisimple real Lie groups

Abstract:We provide a novel construction of quantized universal enveloping $*$-algebras of real semisimple Lie algebras, based on Letzter's theory of quantum symmetric pairs. We show that these structures can be `integrated', leading to a quantization of the group C$^*$-algebra of an arbitrary semisimple algebraic real Lie group.

Abstract:Abstract Twisted K -theory classes over compact Lie groups can be realized as families of Fredholm operators using the representation theory of loop groups. In this paper we show how to deform the Fredholm family in the sense of quantum groups. The family of Dirac-type operators is parametrized by vectors in the adjoint module for a quantum affine algebra and transforms covariantly under a central extension of the algebra.

Abstract:We undertake a study of the notion of a quantum graph over arbitrary finite-dimensional $C^*$-algebras $B$ equipped with arbitrary faithful states. Quantum graphs are realised principally as either certain operators on $L^2(B)$, the quantum adjacency matrices, or as certain operator bimodules over $B'$. We present a simple, purely algebraic approach to proving equivalence between these settings, thus recovering existing results in the tracial state setting. For non-tracial states, our approach naturally suggests a generalisation of the operator bimodule definition, which takes account of (some aspect of) the modular automorphism group of the state. Furthermore, we show that each such ``non-tracial'' quantum graphs corresponds to a ``tracial'' quantum graph which satisfies an extra symmetry condition. We study homomorphisms (or CP-morphisms) of quantum graphs arising from UCP maps, and the closely related examples of quantum graphs constructed from UCP maps. We show that these constructions satisfy automatic bimodule properties. We study quantum automorphisms of quantum graphs, give a definition of what it means for a compact quantum group to act on an operator bimodule, and prove an equivalence between this definition, and the usual notion defined using a quantum adjacency matrix. We strive to give a relatively self-contained, elementary, account, in the hope this will be of use to other researchers in the field.

Abstract:As a natural generalization of ordinary Lie algebras we introduce the concept of quantum Lie algebras . We define these in terms of certain adjoint submodules of quantized enveloping algebras endowed with a quantum Lie bracket given by the quantum adjoint action. The structure constants of these algebras depend on the quantum deformation parameter q and they go over into the usual Lie algebras when q = 1. The notions of q-conjugation and q-linearity are introduced. q-linear analogues of the classical antipode and Cartan involution are defined and a generalized Killing form, q-linear in the first entry and linear in the second, is obtained. These structures allow the derivation of symmetries between the structure constants of quantum Lie algebras. The explicitly worked out examples of and illustrate the results.

Abstract:For a compact monotone symplectic manifold $X$ with Hamiltonian action of a compact Lie group $G$ and smooth symplectic reduction, we relate its gauged $2$-dimensional $A$-model to the $A$-model of $X/\!/G$. This (long conjectured) result is parallel to the ($B$-model!) \emph{quantization commutes with reduction} theorem of Guillemin and Sternberg in quantum mechanics. Here, we spell out some of the precise statements, and outline the proof of equality for the spaces of states (quantum cohomology). We also indicate the way to some related results in the non-monotone case. Additional Floer theory details will be included in a follow-up paper.

Abstract:We establish a noncommutative analogue of the first fundamental theorem of classical invariant theory. For each quantum group associated with a classical Lie algebra, we construct a noncommutative associative algebra whose underlying vector space forms a module for the quantum group and whose algebraic structure is preserved by the quantum group action. The subspace of invariants is shown to form a subalgebra, which is finitely generated. We determine generators of this subalgebra of invariants and determine their commutation relations. In each case considered, the noncommutative modules we construct are flat deformations of their classical commutative analogues. Our results are therefore noncommutative generalisations of the first fundamental theorem of classical invariant theory, which follows from our results by taking the limit as q -> 1. Our method similarly leads to a definition of quantum spheres, which is a noncommutative generalisation of the classical case with orthogonal quantum group symmetry.
Quantum Groups as Global Symmetries

Abstract:We study quantum field theories which have quantum groups as global internal symmetries. We show that in such theories operators are generically non-local, and should be thought as living at the ends of topological lines. We describe the general constraints of the quantum group symmetry, given by Ward identities, that correlation functions of the theory should satisfy. We also show that generators of the symmetry can be represented by topological lines with some novel properties. We then discuss a particular example of $U_q(sl_2)$ symmetric CFT, which we solve using the bootstrap techniques and relying on the symmetry. We finally show strong evidence that for a special value of $q$ a subsector of this theory reproduces the fermionic formulation of the Ising model. This suggests that a quantum group can act on local operators as well, however, it generically transforms them into non-local ones.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a reductive algebraic group with Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and $V$ a finite-dimensional representation of $G$. Costello-Gaiotto studied a graded Lie algebra $\mathfrak{d}_{\mathfrak{g}, V}$ and the associated affine Kac-Moody algebra. In this paper, we show that this Lie algebra can be made into a sheaf of Lie algebras over $T^*[V/G]=[\mu^{-1}(0)/G]$, where $\mu: T^*V\to \mathfrak{g}^*$ is the moment map. We identify this sheaf of Lie algebras with the tangent Lie algebra of the stack $T^*[V/G]$. Moreover, we show that there is an equivalence of braided tensor categories between the bounded derived category of graded modules of $\mathfrak{d}_{\mathfrak{g}, V}$ and graded perfect complexes of $[\mu^{-1}(0)/G]$.

Unitary Easy Quantum Groups Arising as Quantum Symmetries of Graph C*-algebras

Abstract:In 2009, T. Banica and R. Speicher introduced the orthogonal easy quantum group which can be completely determined using the combinatorics of set partitions. Later, P. Tarrago and M. Weber extended this formulation to another special class of compact matrix quantum groups, known as unitary easy quantum groups, which are quantum subgroups of the free unitary quantum group ($U_n^+$) containing $S_n$. On the other hand, the quantum symmetry of graph $C^{*}$-algebras has been explored by several mathematicians within different categories in the past few years. In this article, we establish that there are exactly three families of (identically) unitary easy quantum groups that can be achieved as the quantum symmetries of graph $C^*$-algebras $C^*(\Gamma)$ associated with some finite, connected, directed graphs $\Gamma$ in the category introduced by Joardar and Mandal. Moreover, we demonstrate that there does not exist any graph $C^*$-algebra associated with a finite, connected, directed graph $\Gamma$ having $A_{U^t}(F^{\Gamma})$ as the quantum automorphism group of $C^*(\Gamma)$ for non-scalar matrix $F^{\Gamma}$.

Abstract:The quantization theory of the simple Lie groups and algebras was developed by Faddeev-Reshetikhin-Takhtadjan (FRT). In group theory there is a remarkable set of groups, namely the motion groups of n-dimensional spaces of constant curvature or the orthogonal Cayley-Klein (CK) groups. In some sense the CK groups are in the nearest neighborhood with the simple ones. The well known groups of physical interest such as Euclidean E(n), Poincare P(n), Galileian G(n) and other nonsemisimple groups are in the set of CK groups. But many standart algebraical costructions are not suitable for the nonsemisimple groups and algebras, in particular Killing form is degenerate, Cartan matrix do not exist. Nevertheless it is possible to describe and to quantize all CK groups and algebras, as it was made for the simple ones. The principal proposal is to consider CK groups as the groups over an associative algebra $D$ with nilpotent commutative generators and the corresponding quantum CK groups as the algebra of noncommutative functions over $D$.
