Abstract:By establishing a new proper variational framework and using the critical point theory, we establish some new existence criteria to guarantee that the 2nth-order nonlinear difference equation containing both advance and retardation with p-Laplacian Delta(n)(r(t - n) Phi p(Delta(n)u(t - 1))) + q(t)Phi p (u(t)) = f (t,u(t + n),.,u(t),.,u(t - n)), n is an element of Z, has infinitely many homoclinic orbits, where Phi p(s) is p-Laplacian operator; Phi p(s) = |s|(p-2)s(1 < p < infinity) r, q, f are nonperiodic in t. Our conditions on the potential are rather relaxed, and some existing results in the literature are improved.
Exponentially-improved asymptotics for $q$-difference equations: ${}_2ϕ_0$ and $q{\rm P}_{\rm I}$

Abstract:Usually when solving differential or difference equations via series solutions one encounters divergent series in which the coefficients grow like a factorial. Surprisingly, in the $q$-world the $n$th coefficient is often of the size $q^{-\frac12 n(n-1)}$, in which $q\in(0,1)$ is fixed. Hence, the divergence is much stronger, and one has to introduce alternative Borel and Laplace transforms to make sense of these formal series. We will discuss exponentially-improved asymptotics for the basic hypergeometric function ${}_2\phi_0$ and for solutions of the $q$-difference first Painlevé equation $q{\rm P}_{\rm I}$. These are optimal truncated expansions, and re-expansions in terms of new $q$-hyperterminant functions. The re-expansions do incorporate the Stokes phenomena.

Abstract:We address the Poincaré-Perron's classical problem of approximation for high order linear differential equations in the class of almost periodic type functions, extending the results for a second order linear differential equation in [23]. We obtain explicit formulae for solutions of these equations, for any fixed order $n\ge 3$, by studying a Riccati type equation associated with the logarithmic derivative of a solution. Moreover, we provide sufficient conditions to ensure the existence of a fundamental system of solutions. The fixed point Banach argument allows us to find almost periodic and asymptotically almost periodic solutions to this Riccati type equation. A decomposition property of the perturbations induces a decomposition on the Riccati type equation and its solutions. In particular, by using this decomposition we obtain asymptotically almost periodic and also $p$-almost periodic solutions to the Riccati type equation. We illustrate our results for a third order linear differential equation.

Abstract:We prove that the Riemann zeta function and the Euler gamma function cannot satisfy a class of non-trivial algebraic difference equations with functional coefficients that are connected to the zeros of the Riemann zeta function on the critical line . The main result of this paper is the difference analogue of the corresponding result from Li–Ye (J. Differential Equations 260(2):1456–1464, 2016), and improves the corresponding result from Chiang–Feng (Acta Arith. 125(4):317–329, 2006). Examples are provided to show that the main results in this paper, in a sense, are best possible.

On the accumulation points of non-periodic orbits of a difference equation of fourth order

Abstract:In this paper, we are interested in analyzing the dynamics of the fourth-order difference equation $x_{n+4} = \max\{x_{n+3},x_{n+2},x_{n+1},0\}-x_n$, with arbitrary real initial conditions. We fully determine the accumulation point sets of the non-periodic solutions that, in fact, are configured as proper compact intervals of the real line. This study complements the previous knowledge of the dynamics of the difference equation already achieved in [M. Cs\"ornyei, M. Laczkovich, Monatsh. Math. 132 (2001), 215-236] and [A. Linero Bas, D. Nieves Rold\'an, J. Difference Equ. Appl. 27 (2021), no. 11, 1608-1645].

On parametric $0$-Gevrey asymptotic expansions in two levels for some linear partial $q$-difference-differential equations

Abstract:A novel asymptotic representation of the analytic solutions to a family of singularly perturbed $q-$difference-differential equations in the complex domain is obtained. Such asymptotic relation shows two different levels associated to the vanishing rate of the domains of the coefficients in the formal asymptotic expansion. On the way, a novel version of a multilevel sequential Ramis-Sibuya type theorem is achieved.

Abstract:In this paper, we examined the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the second-order $ (p, q) $-difference equation with non-local boundary conditions by using the Banach fixed-point theorem. Moreover, we introduced a special case of this equation called the Euler-Cauchy-like $ (p, q) $-difference equation and provide its solution. We also studied the oscillation of solutions for this equation in $ (p, q) $-calculus and proved the $ (p, q) $-Sturm-type separation theorem and $ (p, q) $-Kneser theorem about the oscillation of solutions.

Abstract:Comparison estimates are an important technical device in the study of regularity problems for quasilinear possibly degenerate elliptic and parabolic equations. Such tools have been employed indispensably in many papers of Mingione, Duzaar-Mingione, and Kuusi-Mingione, etc. on certain measure datum problems to obtain pointwise bounds for solutions and their full or fractional derivatives in terms of appropriate linear or nonlinear potentials. However, a comparison estimate for $p$-Laplace type elliptic equations with measure data is still unavailable in the strongly singular case $1< p\leq \frac{3n-2}{2n-1}$, where $n\geq 2$ is the dimension of the ambient space. This issue will be completely resolved in this work by proving a comparison estimate in a slightly larger range $1<p<3/2$. Applications include a `sublinear' Poincaré type inequality, pointwise bounds for solutions and their derivatives by Wolff's and Riesz's potentials, respectively. Some global pointwise and weighted estimates are also obtained for bounded domains, which enable us to treat a quasilinear Riccati type equation with possibly sublinear growth in the gradient.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence result for the nonlinear fractional differential equations with p -Laplacian operator {[ D_0^+^βϕ_p( D_0^+^α u(t))=f(t,u(t),D_0^+^αu(t)), t∈(0,1),; D_0^+^αu(0)=D_0^+^αu(1)=0, ]. where the p -Laplacian operator is defined as ϕ_p(s) = |s|^p-2s,p > 1, and ϕ_q(s) = ϕ_p^-1(s), 1/p+1/q = 1; 0 < α, β < 1, 1 < α + β < 2 and D_0^+^α, D_0^+^β denote the Caputo fractional derivatives, and f : [0,1] ×ℝ^2→ℝ is continuous. Though Chen et al. have studied the same equations in their article, the proof process is not rigorous. We point out the mistakes and give a correct proof of the existence result. The innovation of this article is that we introduce a new definition to weaken the conditions of Arzela–Ascoli theorem and overcome the difficulties of the proof of compactness of the projector K P ( I − Q ) N . As applications, an example is presented to illustrate the main results.

Abstract:A boundary value problem associated with the difference equation with advanced argument [Formula: see text] is presented, where Φ(u) = |u|αsgn u, α > 0, p is a positive integer and the sequences a, b, are positive. We deal with a particular type of decaying solution of (*), that is the so-called intermediate solution (see below for the definition). In particular, we prove the existence of this type of solution for (*) by reducing it to a suitable boundary value problem associated with a difference equation without deviating argument. Our approach is based on a fixed-point result for difference equations, which originates from existing ones stated in the continuous case. Some examples and suggestions for future research complete the paper. This article is part of the theme issue 'Topological degree and fixed point theories in differential and difference equations'.

Abstract:This paper is part of a research project on relations between differential-difference matrix Lax representations (MLRs) with the action of gauge transformations and discrete Miura-type transformations (MTs) for (nonlinear) integrable differential-difference equations. The paper addresses the following problem: when and how can one eliminate some shifts of dependent variables from the discrete (difference) part of an MLR by means of gauge transformations? Using results on this problem, we present applications to constructing new MLRs and new integrable equations connected by new MTs to known equations. In particular, we obtain results of this kind for equations connected to the following ones: - The two-component Belov--Chaltikian lattice. - The equation (introduced by G. Mari Beffa and Jing Ping Wang) which describes the evolution induced on invariants by an invariant evolution of planar polygons. - An equation from [S. Igonin, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2405.08579" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2405.08579">arXiv:2405.08579</a>] related to the Toda lattice in the Flaschka--Manakov coordinates.

Abstract:Given a set $T \subset (0, +\infty)$, intervals $I\subset (0, +\infty)$ and $J\subset {\mathbb R}$, as well as functions $g_t:I\times J\rightarrow J$ with $t$'s running through the set \[ T^{\ast}:=T \cup \big\{t^{-1}\colon t \in T\big\}\cup\{1\} \] we study the simultaneous $q$-difference equations \[ \varphi(tx)=g_t\left(x,\varphi(x)\right), \qquad t \in T^{\ast}, \] postulated for $x \in I\cap t^{-1}I$; here the unknown function $\varphi$ is assumed to map $I$ into $J$. We prove an Extension theorem stating that if $\varphi$ is continuous [analytic] on a nontrivial subinterval of $I$, then $\varphi$ is continuous [analytic] provided $g_t, t \in T^{\ast}$, are continuous [analytic]. The crucial assumption of the Extension theorem is formulated with the help of the so-called limit ratio $R_T$ which is a uniquely determined number from $[1,+\infty]$, characterising some density property of the set $T^{\ast}$. As an application of the Extension theorem we find the form of all continuous on a subinterval of $I$ solutions $\varphi:I \rightarrow {\mathbb R}$ of the simultaneous equations \[ \varphi(tx)=\varphi(x)+c(t)x^p, \qquad t\in T, \] where $c:T \rightarrow {\mathbb R}$ is an arbitrary function, $p$ is a given real number and $\sup I > R_T \inf I$.

Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems

Abstract:Due to the importance of some physical systems, in this paper, we aim to investigate a generalized impulsive -Caputo differential equation equipped with a p -Laplacian operator. In fact, our problem is a generalization of fractional differential equations equipped with the integral boundary conditions, impulsive forms and p -Laplacian operators under the Nemytskii operators. In this direction, we prove some theorems on the existence property along with the uniqueness of solutions under the Nemytskii operator. More precisely, we use the Schauder's and Schaefer's fixed point theorems, along with the Banach contraction principle. In the sequel, two examples are provided to show the validity of the obtained results in practical.
