Abstract:This paper presents algebraic methods for the study of polynomial relative invariants, when the group G formed by the symmetries and relative symmetries is a compact Lie group. We deal with the case when the subgroup H of symmetries is normal in G with index m, m greater or equal to 2. For this, we develop the invariant theory of compact Lie groups acting on complex vector spaces. This is the starting point for the study of relative invariants and the computation of their generators. We first obtain the space of the invariants under the subgroup $H$ of $\Gamma$ as a direct sum of $m$ submodules over the ring of invariants under the whole group. Then, based on this decomposition, we construct a Hilbert basis of the ring of G-invariants from a Hilbert basis of the ring of H-invariants. In both results the knowledge of the relative Reynolds operators defined on H-invariants is shown to be an essential tool to obtain the invariants under the whole group. The theory is illustrated with some examples.

Abstract:An almost Abelian group is a non-Abelian Lie group with a codimension 1 Abelian subgroup. This paper investigates invariant Hermitian and Kähler structures on connected complex almost Abelian groups. We find explicit formulas for the left and right Haar measures, the modular function, and left and right generator vector fields on simply connected complex almost Abelian groups. From the generator fields, we obtain invariant vector and tensor field frames, allowing us to find an explicit form for all invariant tensor fields. Namely, all such invariant tensor fields have constant coefficients in the invariant frame. From this, we classify all invariant Hermitian forms on complex simply connected almost Abelian groups, and we prove the nonexistence of invariant Kähler forms on all such groups. Via constructions involving the pullback of the quotient map, we extend the explicit description of invariant Hermitian structures and the nonexistence of Kähler structures to connected almost Abelian groups.

Abstract:1. Introduction.Let M be a compact complex manifold of dimension n, H(M) the complex Lie group o all automorphisms of M and )(M)the complex Lie algebra o all holomorphic vector fields of M. In case when c(M) is positive, the first author defined in [11] a character f:(M)--C which is intrinsically defined and vanishes i M admits a Khler Einstein metric.The purpose of the present note is twofold.First we generalize the definition of f to obtain a linear map F:I (GL(n, C))---I(H(M))where, or a complex Lie group G, Ip(G) denotes the set of all holo- morphic G-invariant symmetric polynomials o degree p.The original f coincides with F(c/) up to a coastant.Secondly we give an inter- pretation ot f in terms o secondary characteristic classes of Chern- Simons [9] and Cheeger-Simons [8].More precisely we show that f appears as the so-called Godbillon-Vey invariant o certain complex foliations.We also have real analogue of the linear map F for compact group actions.However this case can be derived rom the recent papers by Atiyah-Bott [2] and Berline-Vergne [4], which we noticed ater we have finished this work.Very interestingly both o the above works [2] [4] are inspired by Duistermaat-Heckman's paper [10] in symplectic geometry while we started rom Khlerian geometry.In 7 we shall derive a Duistermaat-Heckman type ormula replacing a symplectic form and a hamiltonian vector fields by a Khler orm and a holo- morphic vector field.2. Abstract:The notion of a generic curved noncommutative torus is considered, which extends the notion of a conformally deformed noncommutative torus introduced by Connes and Tretkoff. For this manifold, an asymptotic expansion is established for the heat semigroup generated by the Laplace–Beltrami operator (in fact, for an arbitrary selfadjoint positive elliptic differential operator of order 2 2 ) and an algorithm is provided to compute the local invariants that arize as the coefficients in the expansion. This allows one to extend a series of previous results by several authors beyond the conformal case and/or for multidimensional tori.

Abstract:We provide several families of compact complex curves embedded in smooth complex surfaces such that no neighborhood of the curve can be embedded in an algebraic surface. Different constructions are proposed, by patching neighborhoods of curves in projective surfaces, and blowing down exceptional curves. These constructions generalize examples recently given by S. Lvovski. One of our non algebraic argument is based on an extension theorem of S. Ivashkovich.

Abstract:Given a compact Kähler manifold, Geometric Invariant Theory is applied to construct analytic GIT-quotients that are local models for a classifying space of (poly)stable holomorphic vector bundles containing the coarse moduli space of stable bundles as an open subspace. For local models invariant generalized Weil-Petersson forms exist on the parameter spaces, which are restrictions of symplectic forms on smooth ambient spaces. If the underlying Kähler manifold is of Hodge type, then the Weil-Petersson form on the moduli space of stable vector bundles is known to be the Chern form of a certain determinant line bundle equipped with a Quillen metric. It gives rise to a holomorphic line bundle on the classifying GIT space together with a continuous hermitian metric.

Abstract:A classical theorem of braid theory, dating back to Artin's work, says that two closed braids in a solid torus are ambient isotopic if and only if they represent the same conjugacy class of the braid group. This theorem can be reformulated in the framework of link theory without referring to the group structure. A link in a surface bundle over the circle is transversal whenever it covers the circle. In this terminology, Artin's theorem states that in a solid torus trivially fibered over the circle transversal links are ambient isotopic if and only if they are isotopic in the class of transversal links. We generalize this result by proving that (in the piecewise linear category) transversal links in an arbitrary compact orientable -manifold fibered over the circle with a compact fiber are ambient isotopic if and only if they are isotopic in the class of transversal links.

Abstract:We study the locus of fixed points of a torus action on a GIT quotient of a complex vector space by a reductive complex algebraic group which acts linearly. We show that, under the assumption that $G$ acts freely on the stable locus, the components of the fixed point locus are again GIT quotients of linear subspaces by Levi subgroups.

Abstract:The purpose of the paper is threefold: first, we prove optimal regularity results for the distance from $C^k$ submanifolds of general rank-varying sub-Riemannian structures. Then, we study the asymptotics of the volume of tubular neighbourhoods around such submanifolds. Finally, for the case of curves in the Heisenberg groups, we prove a Weyl's invariance result: the volume of small tubes around a curve does not depend on the way the curve is isometrically embedded, but only on its Reeb angle. The proof does not need the computation of the actual volume of the tube, and it is new even for the three-dimensional Heisenberg group.

Abstract:Given a germ of a smooth plane curve $(\{f(x,y)=0\},0)\subset (\mathbb K^2,0), \mathbb K=\mathbb R, \mathbb C$, with an isolated singularity, we define two invariants $I_f$ and $V_f\in \mathbb N\cup\{\infty\}$ which count the number of inflections and vertices (suitably interpreted in the complex case) concentrated at the singular point; the first is an affine invariant and the second is invariant under similarities of $\mathbb R^2$, and their analogue for $\mathbb C^2$. We show that for almost all representations of $f$, in the sense that their complement is of infinite codimension, these invariants are finite. Indeed when the curve has no smooth components they are always finite and bounded and we can be much more explicit about the values they can attain; the set of possible values is of course an analytic invariant of $f$. We illustrate our results by computing these invariants for Arnold's $\mathcal K$-simple singularities as well as singularities that have ${\mathcal A}$-simple parametrisations. We also obtain a relationship between these invariants, the Milnor number of $f$ and the contact of the curve germ with its osculating circle.

Abstract:We introduce a $\mathbb{C}/\mathbb{Z}$-valued invariant of a foliated manifold with a stable framing and with a partially flat vector bundle. This invariant can be expressed in terms of integration in differential $K$-theory, or alternatively, in terms of $\eta$-invariants of Dirac operators and local correction terms. Initially, the construction of the element in $\mathbb{C}/\mathbb{Z}$ involves additional choices. But if the codimension of the foliation is sufficiently small, then this element is independent of these choices and therefore an invariant of the data listed above. We show that the invariant comprises various classical invariants like Adams' $e$-invariant, the $\rho$-invariant of twisted Dirac operators, or the Godbillon-Vey invariant from foliation theory. Using methods from differential cohomology theory we construct a regulator map from the algebraic $K$-theory of smooth functions on a manifold to its connective $K$-theory with $\mathbb{C}/\mathbb{Z}$ coefficients. Our main result is a formula for the invariant in terms of this regulator and integration in algebraic and topological $K$-theory.

Invariants of links and 3-manifolds from graph configurations

Abstract:In this self-contained book, following Edward Witten, Maxim Kontsevich, Greg Kuperberg and Dylan Thurston, we define an invariant Z of framed links in rational homology 3-spheres, and we study its properties. The invariant Z, which is often called the perturbative expansion of the Chern-Simons theory, is valued in a graded space generated by Jacobi diagrams. It counts embeddings of this kind of unitrivalent graphs in the ambient manifold, in a sense that is explained in the book, using integrals over configuration spaces, or, in a dual way, algebraic intersections in the same configuration spaces. When the ambient manifold is the standard 3-sphere, the invariant Z is a universal Vassiliev link invariant studied by many authors including Guadagnini, Martellini and Mintchev, Bar-Natan, Bott and Taubes, Altschüler and Freidel, Thurston and Poirier... This book contains a more flexible definition of this invariant. We extend Z to a functor on a category of framed tangles in rational homology cylinders and we describe the behaviour of this functor under various operations including some cabling operations. We also compute iterated derivatives of our extended invariant with respect to the discrete derivatives associated to the main theories of finite type invariants. Together with recent results of Massuyeau and Moussard, our computations imply that the restriction of Z to rational homology 3-spheres (equipped with empty links) contains the same information as the Le-Murakami-Ohtsuki LMO invariant for these manifolds. They also imply that the degree one part of Z is the Casson-Walker invariant.

Abstract:We describe the simplest non-trivial modular category $\mathfrak{E}$ with two simple objects. Then we extract from this category the invariant for non-oriented links in 3-sphere and two invariants for 3-manifolds: the complex-valued Turaev - Reshetikhin type invariant $tr_{\varepsilon}$ and the real-valued Turaev - Viro type invariant $tv_{\varepsilon}$. These two invariants for 3-manifolds are related by the equality $|tr_{\varepsilon}|^2\cdot (\varepsilon + 2) = tv_{\varepsilon}$, where $\varepsilon$ is a root of the equation $\varepsilon^2 = \varepsilon + 1$. Finally, we show that $tv_{\varepsilon}$ coincides with the well-known $\varepsilon$ invariant for 3-manifolds.

Abstract:In [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2008.04625" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2008.04625">arXiv:2008.04625</a>] the authors constructed a classifying space for polystable holomorphic vector bundles on a compact Kähler manifold using analytic GIT theory. The aim of this article is to show that this classifying space taken in the weakly normal category is a coarse moduli space in the sense of complex geometry when the topology is fixed as induced by the space of Hermite-Einstein connections modulo the group of unitary gauge transformations.
