Abstract:Resistive memory devices are a promising technology, but they face challenges like sneak paths in crossbar arrays. Complementary resistive switching (CRS) devices offer a significant advantage by minimising this issue. There are few reports on single-structure CRS devices. This work presents a novel approach to achieve a transition from write once read many to CRS behaviour in a single device. This has been achieved by varying the concentration of Laponite nano-clay platelets in an organo-clay hybrid film containing Toluidine Blue O (TBO) molecules. The performance of our device was compared to previously reported works to highlight its advancements. We delved into the conduction mechanism of the device using established models to provide a deeper understanding of its operation. Furthermore, comprehensive analysis of the devices' performance metrics was made. Our device exhibited a remarkable ON/OFF ratio exceeding 10 3 , indicating a clear distinction between its conducting states. Additionally, it demonstrated impressive endurance with over 1100 cycles, signifying its stability over repeated use. The data retention capability was also noteworthy, exceeding 5000 s, ensuring information storage for extended periods. Finally, the device showed a yield of approximately 70%, indicating successful fabrication in a significant portion of attempts.
