Abstract:Background: The mid-low speed Maglev train adopts the single-sided linear induction motors (SLIMs) as drive part, of which design and control method has become research hotspot when the velocity is elevated from 120 km/h to 160 km/h. Aim: For SLIMs applied in 160 km/h low-speed maglev train, the design scheme is introduced and then a novel variable slip frequency control method is proposed. Methods of the studies: This control method adopts low slip frequency at start-up to produce large starting traction force and high slip frequency during high velocity area to obtain great power. The influence to the normal force is also investigated. Results: With this method, the weight of the system can be effectively reduced and the lightweight design of SLIM is realized. Conclusion: The novel variable slip frequency control method meets the requirement of both high starting acceleration and enough residual acceleration for 160 km/h mid-low speed maglev train.

Abstract:For a hard disk drive,track seeking and track following are the two main stages of the servo system.The prevalent method,proximate time optimal servomechanism(PTOS) are adopted,in order to get to a fast track seeking,and discrete-time sliding mode control in the stage of track following.A new time-varying discrete reaching law is proposed for a faster settling time.Simulation results show the proposed control method improves the settling time and the effectiveness of following control.

Abstract:The voice coil motor has been applied widely as a linear actuator to generate forces with direct drive, fast response time, simple structure, etc.In order to maximize its performance, considering the principle of economy and performance, an architecture based on micro-controller and various analog circuit modules is proposed in the design of the driver.The micro-controller circuit, H full-bridge driving circuit, current measurement circuit, rectifier and filter circuit and various protection circuits are designed.By simulation and experimental results, the validity of the driver is verified successfully.

Abstract:The demand for high-power density motors has been increasing due to their remarkable output capability and compact construction. To achieve a significant improvement in motor power density, lightweight design methods have been recognized as an effective enabler. Therefore, extensive investigations have been conducted to reduce motor mass and achieve lightweight configurations through the exploration of lightweight materials, structures and manufacturing techniques. This article provides a comprehensive review and summary of state-of-the-art lightweight implementation methods for electrical machines, including the utilization of lightweight materials, structural lightweight design, and incorporation of advanced manufacturing technologies, such as additive manufacturing techniques. The advantages and limitations of each approach are also discussed in this paper. Furthermore, some comments and forecasts on potential future methodologies for motor lightweighting are also provided.

Abstract:In high-power drives of large commercial vehicles, the switching frequency of the inverter is always strictly limited to avoid high switching losses. In this paper, a high-performance complex vector controller in discrete domain is proposed to reduce the cross-coupling effect and improve control performance under low switching frequency. The discretization error of the induction motor model under different coordinate systems is explored, and a high-precision discrete induction motor model is proposed for the design of the complex vector controller and flux observer. In order to improve the dynamic response of the rotor flux linkage, the designed controller takes the current as the inner loop and the rotor flux linkage as the outer loop. Besides, the signal reconstruction strategy is proposed to solve the contradiction between the variable-step characteristics caused by synchronous modulation and the discretization process based on constant step size. Finally, the designed control strategy and analysis of the system are validly verified by simulation and experimental results.

Abstract:The discrete control technology for AC machine drives is widely applied in the industrial field. This paper aims to excavate new approaches to enhance the discrete control system in AC motor drive systems from following aspects: matching design for discrete subsystems, synchronization in the signal processing and dealing with the restrictions in the voltage output. The proposed approaches are incorporated with three key techniques applied in high performance induction motor drive systems: DC pre-excitation, parameter identification and flux observer with a sensorless control to verify the feasibility. The anti-interference and synchronization procedure in the implementation are also proposed. The experimental results from the test on 55kW/400V and 160kW/400V ASD (Adjustable Speed Drives) systems validate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.

Abstract:Linear motors are core driving components for many transportation applications. The tracking accuracy and synchronization are related to the safety and efficiency of traffic. To guarantee high-performance tracking in high-speed and high-acceleration motion, this paper presents a novel improved integrated scheme, simultaneously solving coordination and synchronization problems of linear motors. Besides, the integrated strategy can mitigate the adverse effects of system uncertainties and external nonlinear disturbances, while ensuring a slightly lower complexity of the control structure. To comprehensively verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, it has been experimentally tested in circular and elliptical experiments, and compared with multiple control schemes. Experimental results demonstrate the improvement achieved by the established integrated strategy in under complex, high-speed, and and high-acceleration conditions, subject to unknown parameters and nonlinear disturbances. Especially in large curvature scenarios, the proposed controller exhibits excellent tracking performance, synchronization performance, and robustness.

Abstract:The application of model predictive control in electrical drives has been studied extensively in the past decade.
