Abstract:The prestressed spatial truss string structure is adopted in the roof structure of the exhibition hall at Guangzhou International Convention Exhibition Center.Due to the long span,high center of gravity and weak lateral rigidness of the truss string structure,the influence of some parameters should be considered during the hoisting process.The paper describes the hoisting process of the prestressed truss string structure and discusses some problems met during the hoisting process,which provides some experience for hoisting of long-span steel structures.

Abstract:This paper introduces the design of steel structures of Guangzhou International Convention Exhibition Center (GICEC), with main focus on the design of the steel roof of the exhibition hall. The steel roof of the exhibition hall adopts a new type of space structure-the prestressed spatial truss string structure with a span of 126.6m, which is the longest span in China.

Abstract:Architectural and structural design work of roof system of Yueqing Olympic Center are roughly reviewed in the present paper.The stadium with lunar shape adopts a novel type of spatial cable-frames. System constitution of this stadium is different because of braced radial cables and open-mouth hoop cable. The gymnasium and swimming arena adopt a new latticed-shell-string system with non-vertical compression bars and spatial hoop cables.Structural design of steel works of Yueqing Olympic center is in accordance with mechanical rules and restrictions but not constrained by common concepts.It is a little challengeable in some aspects.The present paper aims at roughly review of some key design techniques of new types of large-span spatial structures.Emphasis is put on the process of architectural design and structural design when they do not coincided with each other at the preliminary design stage.

Abstract:The raising of a steel building is introduced,which is newly added on the roof of a 3-story concrete building.The building has an area of 16000m2.It is introduced the design of the raising scheme,and the measures of insuring the stability of the structure during the upraising process.The successful implementation of the scheme demonstrates the feasibility of the techniques used in this project.And it is also very economic.

Abstract:According to the construction condition and time limitation of the project, the sliding method is adopted in the construction of the steel roof of Guangzhou International Convention Exhibition Center. The paper introduces the problems in the sliding construction of a single truss string structure and a unit and provides the relevant measures. Some useful suggestions are also provided for the construction of other projects.

Abstract:Structural design of a practical spherical suspen-dome with a diameter of 122 m was carried out in China Construction (Shenzhen) Design International (CCDI) in 2006. Some aspects of the whole design procedure of this practical suspen-dome are presented in this paper, including load conditions, technical conditions, force finding analysis, load analysis, nonlinear buckling analysis, cable breaking simulation, integral structure analysis, joints design, and construction sequence simulation. Regarding the determination of pretension among the lower cable-bar system, a strategy with respect to adjusting the deformation of the upper reticulated shell under service loads is proposed. Load analysis gives out some computational results of this suspen-dome when subject to indispensable load cases required by the current load code of practice of China. Cable breaking simulation shows that there will be no spreading collapse in sequence. For the structural design of suspen-dome, much attention of construction feasibility, minimum cost should be paid. For the effects of temperature action the integral structure analysis including the supporting system (the concrete structure frames) is very important. An elastic supporting system is very helpful to avoid possible high pretension losses or increments due to the site air temperature fluctuation. Joints design is briefly introduced. Construction process simulation analysis is investigated.

Abstract:Stress monitoring of the large-span retractable roof steel structure can grasp stress condition of the structure,ensuring the smooth progress in the course of construction.Wireless vibrating string sensors were adopted to monitor the stress increments of main bars in the steel structure of Hangzhou Olympic Tennis Center and the finite element analysis software MIDAS was used to simulate the process of the construction.Though comparison,for a retractable roof steel structure,it is found that the monitoring results can well reflect the structural behavior in the uploading phase,installation process and roof opening and closing stage.The monitoring system has high accuracy,strong timeliness and good stability,thus can be applied to structural safety monitoring and disaster early warning research in the future.

Abstract:The stadium in Nantai Lake Olympic Wetland Park which looks like a lily,adopts the structure system of two-layer shell with openings that composed by the high and low roof.The whole steel roof separates from the lower reinforced concrete stand part,and supports on the outside audience platform with the elevation 6.500m.Especially there is a ring tourist corridor on the cantilever end of the roof.The structural behavior of this system is analyzed.It is hard to satisfy the bearing capacity for the only high or low steel roof,just because the elliptical openings is set in the center and six entrances.Therefore the web members between the high and low roof are very important to form an overall structure.From the results of inner-force analysis,eigenvalue buckling analysis,geometric or material nonlinear analysis,considering the adverse effects of a half-cross live load,it shows that the stability behavior is very good for the steel roof which is not sensitive to the initial imperfections.The typical welded joints were analyzed by the finite element method.After the maximum vertical displacement exceeds 1m,many members yield,so the geometric and material nonlinear analysis must be adopted to approach that of real stability state and capacity of the structure.

Abstract:The roof of the standard exhibition hall of Shijiazhuang International Convention and Exhibition Center has a folding plate shape.The roof is formed by inverted triangular space truss and secondary truss,which elevation varies on the basis of architectural model.The span of the main truss is 72m.The whole roof is supported by concrete-filled steel tubular columns.The structure system and the roof arrangement were introduced,and the wind pressure value was decided through the wind tunnel test.The results of the static,dynamic and stability analysis were provided.The sample analysis of important node was carried on.The results of the analysis show that all the period,displacement and stress of the structure fulfill the code,and the whole stability of the roof is good.

Abstract:Abstract The grid structure is more and more widely used in the civil engineering industry, but due to the large number of rods and complex installation, it is extremely difficult to construct at high altitude. In order to overcome this problem, engineers proposed a hydraulic jacking method. The mechanical properties of steel structures are more complicated, especially in the construction process, the force situation and the design load is quite different. In order to explore the reliability of the hydraulic lifting process of the steel grid, this article takes the hydraulic lifting technology of the steel grid roof of a hangar as the engineering background. This project uses Sap2000 finite element analysis software to model, simulate the construction process of the jacking grid, analyze the mechanical characteristics and stability of the grid during the jacking process, and use it to guide the construction. The results show that: for large grid structures constructed at high altitudes and hydraulic jacking technology can effectively improve the construction efficiency and safety.

Abstract:The authors introduce application of monitoring technique which is based on the wireless sensor network on the lifting of a steel structure gallery.The gallery is lifted using integral hoisting technology.As the structure has a complex form,large span,heavy weight and high position,the internal force and deformation of the adjacent structures and the part to be lifted would have an obvious change,which is much different from that designed.Therefore,a real time monitoring using wirless stress and acceleration monitoring system,and the auto measuring robot system were carried out during the whole lifting process,which ensured the safety of the structure.

Abstract:Retractable roof structures have been used widely in building engineering, especially in the field of large-sized gymnasium and multipurpose sport centers. Structures with retractable roofs have many work conditions and so they are different from conventional structures. This paper concisely introduces the general situation and structural form of a retractable roof structure for tennis stadium in Zhejiang province, discusses the rail problem in design of the structure, introduces the pulling method and its different loading cases in comparison with conventional structures. In this project,two kinds of structural analysis methods, the separate analysis method and the cooperating analysis method, have been compared based on the results of the displacements in three directions. The conclusion is that the result obtained from the sparate method is safer.

Abstract:Research purposes: This paper researches the design of a roof truss without columns according to the requirement,such as astylar,clearer,more comfortable and so on in the rebuilding engineering of one railway station. Research methods:Combined with the situation of the construction plot,the major structure,whose plane size is 41 m×400 m in the single-span complete coverage structure style,has no supporting column inside and only has 28 down-to-ground bracings at both sides.And space structure analysis software is adopted to do structure calculation. Research results:By the practice of a new spatial structure system of latticed shell with bolt spherical joints and down-to-ground pipe truss,this paper provides some successful design experiences and special detail construction measures. Research conclusions:The latticed shell with bolt spherical joints and down-to-ground pipe truss of the roof truss without columns can rationally embody the member efficiency and sufficiently display the architectonic effect.For structure in a massive figure,the influence of the temperature stress is remarkable.The structural stress performance under temperature stress can be significantly improved by the corresponding measures.The detail construction design was accomplished with the rational analysis methods,which ensures the structural safety and applicability.

Abstract:Retractable structures have been widely adopted in large-sized palaestra and multipurpose buildings. Due to the particularity of retractable structure, design of this type of project must greatly differ from that of normal structure and be more difficult than the latter. Through a real structure of the retractable roof in Yellow-Dragon Sports Center, this paper presented the entire process of structural layout selection optimization and load analysis in design of retractable roof with details, which provides helpful reference for further research and development of such projects.

Abstract:The multifunctional hall of Shijiazhuang International Convention and Exhibition Center is a long-span steel structure,of which the largest span reaches 120m.In order to achieve the large cantilever and long span demand of architectural presentation,a relatively complicated structure form,that is the steel-tube concrete column-folded network,has been adopted for the roof.During the structural design procedure,various load combinations have been analyzed,and the deformation and stress distribution of the structure have been checked.In addition,elastic design analysis under intermediate earthquake and Pushover analysis have been conducted for the structure.The analysis results show that the structural system is safe and reliable and has a good seismic performance.

Abstract:The concourse of Shijiazhuang International Convention and Exhibition Center is a large and complex structural system,which is about 800m long and 100m wide.The roof supporting system consists of two structural forms of tree and Y shape column,and folded plate space truss is used for roof.The choice of structure styles was introduced,the loads value and analytical results were given,and in-depth analysis on some key issues in structure design was carried out.Based on the elastic-plastic analysis,the seismic performance of the structure was fully studied,and the effective length factor of the columns and the node design were introduced.
