Abstract:Let A be a set of connected graphs. Then a spanning subgraph A of G is called an A-factor if each component of A is isomorphic to some member of A. Especially, when every graph in A is a path, A is a path factor. For a positive integer d ≥ 2, we write P≥d = {Pi|i ≥ d}. Then a P≥d-factor means a path factor in which every component admits at least d vertices. A graph G is called a (P≥d,m)-factor deleted graph if G – E′ admits a P≥d-factor for any E′ ⊆ E(G) with |E′| = m. A graph G is called a (P≥d, k)-factor critical graph if G – Q has a P≥d-factor for any Q ⊆ V (G) with |Q| = k. In this paper, we present two degree conditions for graphs to be (P≥3,m)-factor deleted graphs and (P≥3, k)-factor critical graphs. Furthermore, we show that the two results are best possible in some sense.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a bipartite graph with bipartition $(X,Y)$, let $k$ be a positive integer, and let $f:V(G)\rightarrow \{-1,\ldots, k-2\}$ be a mapping with $\sum_{v\in X}f(v) \stackrel{k}{\equiv}\sum_{v\in Y}f(v)$. In this paper, we show that if $G$ is essentially $(3k-3)$-edge-connected and for each vertex $v$, $d_G(v)\ge 2k-1+f(v)$, then it admits a factor $H$ such that for each vertex $v$, $d_H(v)\stackrel{k}{\equiv} f(v)$, and $$\lfloor\frac{d_G(v)}{2}\rfloor-(k-1)\le d_{H}(v)\le \lceil\frac{d_G(v)}{2}\rceil+k-1.$$ Next, we generalize this result to general graphs and derive sufficient conditions for a highly edge-connected general graph $G$ to have a factor $H$ such that for each vertex $v$, $d_H(v)\in \{f(v),f(v)+k\}$. Finally, we show that every $(4k-1)$-edge-connected essentially $(6k-7)$-edge-connected graph admits a bipartite factor whose degrees are positive and divisible by $k$.

Abstract:Let $G$ denote a graph and $k\geq2$ be an integer. A $\{K_{1,1},K_{1,2},\ldots,K_{1,k},\mathcal{T}(2k+1)\}$-factor of $G$ is a spanning subgraph, whose every connected component is isomorphic to an element of $\{K_{1,1},K_{1,2},\ldots,K_{1,k},\mathcal{T}(2k+1)\}$, where $\mathcal{T}(2k+1)$ is one special family of tree. In this paper, we put forward some sufficient conditions for the existence of $\{K_{1,1},K_{1,2},\ldots,K_{1,k},\mathcal{T}(2k+1)\}$-factors in graphs. Furthermore, we construct some extremal graphs to show that the main results in this paper are best possible.

If Sigma(e epsilon x)h(e) = k holds for each x is an element of V(G), we call G[F-h] a fractional k-factor of G with indicator functional h where F-h = {e is an element of E(G) : h(e) > 0}. In this paper, it is proved that G has a fractional k-factor including any given edge if G satisfies n >= 4k - 3, delta(G) >= k and and d(G)(x)+d(G)(y) >= n+ 1 for each pair of nonadjacent vertices x, y of G. Furthermore, it is showed that the result in this paper is best possible in some sense.

Abstract:A recent result by Kardoš, Máčajová and Zerafa [J. Comb. Theory, Ser. B. 160 (2023) 1--14] related to the famous Berge-Fulkerson conjecture implies that given an arbitrary set of odd pairwise edge-disjoint cycles, say $\mathcal O$, in a bridgeless cubic graph, there exists a $1$-factor intersecting all cycles in $\mathcal O$ in at least one edge. This remarkable result opens up natural generalizations in the case of an $r$-regular graph $G$ and a $t$-factor $F$, with $r$ and $t$ being positive integers. In this paper, we start the study of this problem by proving necessary and sufficient conditions on $G$, $t$ and $r$ to assure the existence of a suitable $F$ for any possible choice of the set $\mathcal O$. First of all, we show that $G$ needs to be $2$-connected. Under this additional assumption, we highlight how the ratio $\frac{t}{r}$ seems to play a crucial role in assuring the existence of a $t$-factor $F$ with the required properties by proving that $\frac{t}{r} \geq \frac{1}{3}$ is a further necessary condition. We suspect that this condition is also sufficient, and we confirm it in the case $\frac{t}{r}=\frac{1}{3}$, generalizing the case $t=1$ and $r=3$ proved by Kardoš, Máčajová, Zerafa, and in the case $\frac{t}{r}=\frac{1}{2}$ with $t$ even. Finally, we provide further results in the case of cycles of arbitrary length.

Abstract:A spanning subgraph $H$ of a graph $G$ is called a $P_{\geq k}$-factor of $G$ if every component of $H$ is isomorphic to a path of order at least $k$, where $k\geq2$ is an integer. A graph $G$ is called a $(P_{\geq k},l)$-factor critical graph if $G-V'$ contains a $P_{\geq k}$-factor for any $V'\subseteq V(G)$ with $|V'|=l$. A graph $G$ is called a $(P_{\geq k},m)$-factor deleted graph if $G-E'$ has a $P_{\geq k}$-factor for any $E'\subseteq E(G)$ with $|E'|=m$. Intuitively, if a graph is dense enough, it will have a $P_{\geq 3}$-factor. In this paper, we give some sufficient conditions for a graph to be a $(P_{\geq 3},l)$-factor critical graph or a $(P_{\geq 3},m)$-factor deleted graph. In this paper, we demonstrate that (i) $G$ is a $(P_{\geq 3},l)$-factor critical graph if its sun toughness $s(G)>\frac{l+1}{3}$ and $\kappa(G)\geq l+2$. (ii) $G$ is a $(P_{\geq 3},l)$-factor critical graph if its degree sum $\sigma_3(G)\geq n+2l$ and $\kappa(G)\geq l+1$. (iii) $G$ is a $(P_{\geq 3},m)$-factor deleted graph if its sun toughness $s(G)\geq \frac{m+1}{m+2}$ and $\kappa(G)\geq 2m+1$. Abstract:Let G be a graph, and let k, r be nonnegative integers with k ≥ 2. A k-factor of G is a spanning subgraph F of G such that dF(x) = k for each x ∈ V (G), where dF(x) denotes the degree of x in F. For S ⊆ V (G), NG(S) = ∪x∊SNG(x). The binding number of G is defined by bind(G)=min{|NG(S)||S|:∅≠S⊂V(G),NG(S)≠V(G)}$\begin{array}{} (G) = {\rm{min }}\{ \frac{{|{N_G}(S)|}}{{|S|}}:\emptyset \ne S \subset V(G),{N_G}(S) \ne V(G)\} \end{array}$. In this paper, we obtain a binding number and neighborhood condition for a graph to have a k-factor excluding a given r-factor. This result is an extension of the previous results.
The minimum degree of minimal $k$-factor-critical claw-free graphs*

Abstract:A graph $G$ of order $n$ is said to be $k$-factor-critical for integers $1\leq k< n$, if the removal of any $k$ vertices results in a graph with a perfect matching. A $k$-factor-critical graph is minimal if for every edge, the deletion of it results in a graph that is not $k$-factor-critical. In 1998, O. Favaron and M. Shi conjectured that every minimal $k$-factor-critical graph has minimum degree $k+1$. In this paper, we confirm the conjecture for minimal $k$-factor-critical claw-free graphs. Moreover, we show that every minimal $k$-factor-critical claw-free graph $G$ has at least $\frac{k-1}{2k}|V(G)|$ vertices of degree $k+1$ in the case of $(k+1)$-connected, yielding further evidence for S. Norine and R. Thomas' conjecture on the minimum degree of minimal bricks when $k=2$.

Abstract:Let G be a graph and be a set of connected graphs. A spanning subgraph H of G is called an –factor if each component of H is isomorphic to a member of . In this paper, we first present a lower bound on the size (resp. the spectral radius) of G to guarantee that G has a –factor (or a perfect k –matching for even k ) and construct extremal graphs to show all this bounds are best possible. We then provide a lower bound on the signless laplacian spectral radius of G to ensure that G has a –factor, where is an integer. Moreover, we also provide some Laplacian eigenvalue (resp. toughness) conditions for the existence of –factor, –factor and –factor in G , respectively. Some of our results extend or improve the related existing results.

Abstract:Recently, motivated to control a distribution of the vertices having specified degree in a degree factor, the authors introduced a new problem in [Graphs Combin. 39 (2023) #85], which is a degree factor problem of graphs whose vertices are colored with red or blue. In this paper, we continue its research on regular graphs. Among some results, our main theorem is the following: Let $a$, $b$ and $k$ be integers with $1\leq a\leq k\leq b\leq k+a+1$, and let $r$ be a sufficiently large integer compared to $a$, $b$ and $k$. Let $G$ be an $r$-regular graph. We arbitrarily color every vertex of $G$ with red or blue so that no two red vertices are adjacent. Then $G$ has a factor $F$ such that $\deg_{F}(x)\in \{a,b\}$ for every red vertex $x$ and $\deg_{F}(y)\in \{k,k+1\}$ for every blue vertex $y$.

Abstract:A graph of order $n$ is $p$-factor-critical, where $p$ is an integer of the same parity as $n$, if the removal of any set of $p$ vertices results in a graph with a perfect matching. 1-Factor-critical graphs and 2-factor-critical graphs are factor-critical graphs and bicritical graphs, respectively. It is well known that every connected vertex-transitive graph of odd order is factor-critical and every connected non-bipartite vertex-transitive graph of even order is bicritical. In this paper, we show that a simple connected vertex-transitive graph of odd order at least 5 is 3-factor-critical if and only if it is not a cycle.

Abstract:Given an integer $k\ge1$, an edge-$k$-coloring of a graph $G$ is an assignment of $k$ colors $1,\ldots,k$ to the edges of $G$ such that no two adjacent edges receive the same color. A vertex-distinguishing (resp. sum-distinguishing) edge-$k$-coloring of $G$ is an edge-$k$-coloring such that for any two distinct vertices $u$ and $v$, the set (resp. sum) of colors taken from all the edges incident with $u$ is different from that taken from all the edges incident with $v$. The vertex-distinguishing chromatic index (resp. sum-distinguishing chromatic index), denoted $\chi'_{vd}(G)$ (resp. $\chi'_{sd}(G)$), is the smallest value $k$ such that $G$ has a vertex-distinguishing-edge-$k$-coloring (resp. sum-distinguishing-edge-$k$-coloring). Let $G$ be a $d$-regular graph on $n$ vertices, where $n$ is even and sufficiently large. We show that $\chi'_{vd}(G) =d+2$ if $d$ is arbitrarily close to $n/2$ from above, and $\chi'_{sd}(G) =d+2$ if $d\ge \frac{2n}{3}$. Our first result strengthens a result of Balister et al. in 2004 for such class of regular graphs, and our second result constitutes a significant advancement in the field of sum-distinguishing edge coloring. To achieve these results, we introduce novel edge coloring results which may be of independent interest.

Abstract:In 2014, some scholars showed that every 2-connected claw-free graph G with independence number α(G)≤3 is Hamiltonian with one exception of family of graphs. If a nontrivial path contains only internal vertices of degree two and end vertices of degree not two, then we call it a branch. A set S of branches of a graph G is called a branch cut if we delete all edges and internal vertices of branches of S leading to more components than G. We use a branch bond to denote a minimal branch cut. If a branch-bond has an odd number of branches, then it is called odd. In this paper, we shall characterize all 2-connected claw-free graphs G such that every odd branch-bond of G has an edge branch and such that α(G)≤5 but has no 2-factor. We also consider the same problem for those 2-edge-connected claw-free graphs with α(G)≤4.

Abstract:Every k -regular graph has a fractional perfect matching via assigning each edge a fractional number . How many edges are deleted from a regular graph so that the resulting graph still has a fractional perfect matching? Let G be a k -regular graph with n vertices. In this paper, we prove that the fractional matching number of the resulting graph deleting any edges from G is not less than . In particular, taking , we deduce that the resulting graph deleting any edges from G has a fractional perfect matching. Specially, we can delete any edges from G other than exceptions such that the resulting graph has a fractional perfect matching when . Further, the resulting graph deleting any edges from a k -regular l -edge-connected graph with an even number of vertices has a fractional perfect matching. As applications, some values or bounds on the fractional matching preclusion number of regular graphs are deduced immediately.

Abstract:For a set { A , B , C , ...} of graphs, an { A , B , C , ...}-factor of a graph G is a spanning subgraph F of G , where each component of F is contained in { A , B , C , ...}. It is very interesting to investigate the existence of factors in a graph with given minimum degree from the prospective of eigenvalues. We first propose a tight sufficient condition in terms of the Q -spectral radius for a graph involving minimum degree to contain a star factor. Moreover, we also present tight sufficient conditions based on the Q -spectral radius and the distance spectral radius for a graph involving minimum degree to guarantee the existence of a { K 2 , { C k }}-factor, respectively.
