Abstract:A standard zero free region is obtained for Rankin Selberg L-functions $L(s, f\times \widetilde{f})$ where $f$ is an almost everywhere tempered Maass form on $GL(n)$ and $f$ is not necessarily self dual. The method is based on the theory of Eisenstein series generalizing a work of Sarnak.

Abstract:Let $L(s,\pi)=\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\lambda_{\pi}(n)n^{-s}$ be an $L$-function that satisfies a weak form of the generalized Ramanujan conjecture. We prove that large partial sums of $\lambda_{\pi}(n)$ strongly repel the low-lying zeros of $L(s,\pi)$ away from the critical line. Our results extend and quantitatively improve preceding work of Granville and Soundararajan.

Abstract:We derive explicit upper bounds for the Riemann zeta-function $\zeta(\sigma + it)$ on the lines $\sigma = 1 - k/(2^k - 2)$ for integer $k \ge 4$. This is used to show that the zeta-function has no zeroes in the region $$\sigma > 1 - \frac{\log\log|t|}{21.233\log|t|},\qquad |t| \ge 3.$$ This is the largest known zero-free region for $\exp(171) \le t \le \exp(5.3\cdot 10^{5})$. Our results rely on an explicit version of the van der Corput $A^nB$ process for bounding exponential sums.

Zeros of Dirichlet $L$-functions on the critical line

Abstract:In this paper, we estimate the proportion of zeros of Dirichlet $L$-functions on the critical line. Using Feng's mollifier and an asymptotic formula for the mean square of Dirichlet $L$-functions, we prove that averaged over primitive characters and conductors, at least 61.07 % of zeros of Dirichlet $L$-functions are on the critical line, and at least 60.44 % of zeros are simple and on the critical line. These results improve the work of Conrey, Iwaniec and Soundararajan.

Abstract:We combine the relative trace formula with analytic methods to obtain zero density estimate for $L$-functions in various families of automorphic representations for $\mathrm{GL}(m)$. Applications include strong bounds for the average analytic rank of these $L$-functions at the central point and average equidistribution results for the imaginary parts of the zeros.

Abstract:Assuming the existence of a Landau-Siegel zero, we establish an explicit Deuring-Heilbronn zero repulsion phenomenon for Dirichlet $L$-functions modulo $q$. Our estimate is uniform in the entire critical strip, and improves over the previous best known explicit estimate due to Thorner and Zaman.

Abstract:We characterize the zero-free regions of a class of functions (including the Riemann zeta function) in half-planes in terms of closures of ranges of the corresponding multiplication operators on Hardy spaces. We give an explicit characterization of these closures. As applications, we obtain a weaker version of the Nyman-Beurling-Baez-Duarte criterion, and provide some investigations on a problem relating to the Riemann hypothesis proposed by Baez-Duarte et al. We prove the first unconditional zero density estimate for the set of Rankin–Selberg -functions, where is fixed. We use this density estimate to establish: (i) a hybrid-aspect subconvexity bound at for almost all ; (ii) a strong on-average form of effective multiplicity one for almost all ; and (iii) a positive level of distribution for , in the sense of Bombieri–Vinogradov, for each .

Abstract:Text We compute the one-level density of zeros of order ℓ Dirichlet L-functions over function fields F q [ t ] for ℓ = 3 , 4 in the Kummer setting ( q ≡ 1 ( mod ℓ ) ) and for ℓ = 3 , 4 , 6 in the non-Kummer setting ( q ≢ 1 ( mod ℓ ) ). In each case, we obtain a main term predicted by Random Matrix Theory (RMT) and lower order terms not predicted by RMT. Abstract:We express the contribution of certain maximal parabolic Eisenstein series to the spectral side of the Arthur--Selberg trace formula for GL$(n)$ in terms of zeroes of Rankin--Selberg $L$-functions, generalizing previous results for GL(2) and Hecke $L$-functions. As applications, we prove a lower bound for the sum of these zeroes, and a base change relation between the zeroes in the case $n=2$ for cyclic extensions of prime degree.

Abstract:Let $F$ be a linear combination of $N\geq 1$ Dirichlet $L$-functions attached to even (or odd) primitive characters with the same modulus. Selberg proved that a positive proportion of non-trivial zeros of $F$ lie on the critical line. Our work here is to provide an explicit lower bound for this proportion. In particular, we show that the lower bound $2.16\times 10^{-6}/(N\log N)$ is admissible for large $N$.

Abstract:We consider a variant of a problem first introduced by Hughes and Rudnick (2003) and generalized by Bernard (2015) concerning conditional bounds for small first zeros in a family of $L$-functions. Here we seek to estimate the size of the smallest intervals centered at a low-lying height for which we can guarantee the existence of a zero in a family of $L$-functions. This leads us to consider an extremal problem in analysis which we address by applying the framework of de Branges spaces, introduced in this context by Carneiro, Chirre, and Milinovich (2022).

Abstract:Meher et al. [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 147 (2019)] have recently established that $L-$functions attached to certain cusp forms of half-integral weight have infinitely many zeros on the critical line. Kim [J. Numb. Th. 253 (2023)] obtained analogous results for $L-$functions attached to cusp forms twisted by an additive character $e\left(\frac{p}{q}n\right)$, $\frac{p}{q}\in\mathbb{Q}$. We extend the results of these authors by giving a lower bound for the number of such zeros. We start by developing a variant of a method of de la Val\'ee Poussin which seems to have interest as it avoids the evaluation of exponential sums. We finish the paper with an improvement of our first estimate by using Lekkerkerker's variant of the Hardy-Littlewood method.

Abstract:In this paper, we give Dirichlet series with periodic coefficients that have Riemann's functional equation and real zeros of Dirichlet $L$-functions. The details are as follows. Let $L(s,\chi)$ be the Dirichlet $L$-function and $G(\chi)$ be the Gauss sum associate with a primitive Dirichlet character $\chi$ (${\rm{mod}} \,\, q$). Put $f (s,\chi) := q^s L(s,\chi) + i^{-\kappa (\chi)} G(\chi) L(s,\overline{\chi})$, where $\overline{\chi}$ is the complex conjugate of $\chi$ and $\kappa (\chi) :=(1-\chi (-1))/2$. Then we prove that $f (s,\chi)$ satisfies Riemann's functional equation appearing in Hamburger's theorem if $\chi$ is even. In addition, we show that $f (\sigma,\chi) \ne 0$ all $\sigma \ge 1$. Moreover, we prove that $f(\sigma,\chi) \ne 0$ for all $1/2 \le \sigma < 1$ if and only if $L(\sigma,\chi) \ne 0$ for all $1/2 \le \sigma < 1$. When $\chi$ is real, all zeros of $f(s,\chi)$ with $\Re (s) >0$ are on the line $\sigma =1/2$ if and only if GRH for $L(s,\chi)$ is true. However, $f (s,\chi)$ has infinitely many zeros off the critical line $\sigma =1/2$ if $\chi$ is non-real.
