Abstract:We develop an effective and natural approach to interpret any semigroup admitting a special language of greedy normal forms as an automaton semigroup,namely the semigroup generated by a Mealy automaton encoding the behaviour of such a language of greedy normal forms under one-sided multiplication.The framework embraces many of the well-known classes of (automatic) semigroups: finite monoids, free semigroups, free commutative monoids, trace or divisibility monoids, braid or Artin-Tits or Krammer or Garside monoids, Baumslag-Solitar semigroups, etc.Like plactic monoids or Chinese monoids, some neither left- nor right-cancellative automatic semigroups are also investigated, as well as some residually finite variations of the bicyclic monoid. It provides what appears to be the first known connection from a class of automatic semigroupsto a class of automaton semigroups. It is worthwhile noting that, in all these cases, "being an automatic semigroup" and "being an automaton semigroup" become dual properties in a very automata-theoretical sense. Quadratic rewriting systems and associated tilings appear as a cornerstone of our construction.

Abstract:After reviewing automaton semigroups, we introduce Cayley automata and the corresponding Cayley automaton semigroups. We investigate which semigroups are isomorphic to their Cayley automaton semigroup and give some results for special classes of semigroups. We answer a question posed by Cain relating to the dual construction.

Abstract:The paper is devoted to two types of algebraic models of automata. The usual (first type) model leads to the developed decomposition theory (Krohn-Rhodes theory). We introduce another type of automata model and study how these automata are related to cascade connections of automata of the first type. The introduced automata play a significant role in group theory and, hopefully, in the theory of formal languages.

Primitive Automata that are Synchronizing

Abstract:A deterministic finite (semi)automaton is primitive if its transition monoid (semigroup) acting on the set of states has no non-trivial congruences. It is synchronizing if it contains a constant map (transformation). In analogy to synchronizing groups, we study the possibility of characterizing automata that are synchronizing if primitive. We prove that the implication holds for several classes of automata. In particular, we show it for automata whose every letter induce either a permutation or a semiconstant transformation (an idempotent with one point of contraction) unless all letters are of the first type. We propose and discuss two conjectures about possible more general characterizations.

Abstract:A quasi-automatic semigroup is a finitely generated semigroup with a rational set of representatives such that the graph of right multiplication by any generator is a rational relation. A asynchronously automatic semigroup is a quasi-automatic semigroup for which these rational relations are also recognisable by two-tape automata. We show that when such a semigroup happens to be a group, the converse actually holds, meaning quasi-automatic groups are asynchronously automatic.

Abstract:The fuzzification of classical set theory came into existence when Zadeh [1] laid down the concept of a fuzzy set as a generalization of a crisp set. The objective of this paper is to extend the concept of fuzzy endomorphism to fuzzy automorphism. Notions of fuzzy inner automorphism and fuzzy inner automorphism induced by a fuzzy subgroup are introduced. Finally, we obtain the fuzzy analogues of well-known results of classical group theory.

Abstract:The monography examines the problem of constructing a group of automorphisms of a graph. A graph automorphism is a mapping of a set of vertices onto itself that preserves adjacency. The set of such automorphisms forms a vertex group of a graph or simply a graph group. The basis for constructing a group of graph automorphisms is the concept of orbit. The construction of an orbit is closely related to the quantitative assessment of a vertex or edge of a graph, called weight. To determine the weight of an element, graph invariants built on the spectrum of edge cuts and the spectrum of edge cycles are used. The weight of the graph elements allows identifying generating cycles and forming orbits. Examples are given of constructing a group of automorphisms for some types of graphs.

Abstract:Before tackling the question we should perhaps begin by saying what a semigroup is. A non-empty set S endowed with a single binary operation is known as a semigroup if for evey x,y,z [2][3]in S, If in addition there exists 1 in S such that, for every x in S, we say that S is a semigroup with identity or (more usually) a monoid. In this article, we give a definition of an space valued fuzzy weakly inside ideal. We study some interesting properties [4] [5] [6] of space valued fuzzy weakly inside ideals and the relationship between space valued fuzzy weakly interior ideals and space valued fuzzy principles. We characterize some semigroups by using interval valued fuzzy weakly interior principles. Moreover, we found theorems of the homorphic image and the preimage of an space valued fuzzy weakly inside principle in semigroups [7]. The 0-simple semigroups begins with some elementary results on simple and 0-simple semigroups and a decomposition theorem for semigroups in general that indicates why and understanding of simple and 0-simple semigroups is important. The main result of the chapter is a structure theorem due to Rees (1940) [2, 31] which applies to 0-simple semigroups satisfying both the minimal conditions -- what are called completely 0-simple semigroups. Rees himself used a different definition, but we shall see below theorems that the two definitions are equivalent [1].
Preserving self-similarity in free products of semigroups

Abstract:We improve on earlier results on the closure under free products of the class of automaton semigroups. We consider partial automata and show that the free product of two self-similar semigroups (or automaton semigroups) is self-similar (an automaton semigroup) if there is a homomorphism from one of the base semigroups to the other. The construction used is computable and yields further consequences. One of them is that we can adjoin a free generator to any self-similar semigroup (or automaton semigroup) and preserve the property of self-similarity (or being an automaton semigroup). The existence of a homomorphism between two semigroups is a very lax requirement; in particular, it is satisfied if one of the semigroups contains an idempotent. To explore the limits of this requirement, we show that no simple or $0$-simple idempotent-free semigroup is a finitely generated self-similar semigroup (or an automaton semigroup). Furthermore, we give an example of a pair of residually finite semigroups without a homomorphism from one to the other.

Abstract:The existing algorithm to compute and verify the automata associated with an automatic group deals only with the subclass of shortlex automatic groups. This paper describes the extension of the algorithm to deal with automatic groups associated with other word orders (the algorithm has now been implemented ) and reports on the use of the algorithm for specific examples; in particular a very natural automatic (or asynchonously automatic) structure for the Baumslag-Solitar and related classes of groups (closely related to one described for some of those groups by Epstein et al. is found from a wreath product order over shortlex.

Abstract:Generalizing the idea of self-similar groups defined by Mealy automata, we itroduce the notion of a self-similar automaton and a self-similar group over a changing alphabet. We show that every finitely generated residually-finite group is self-similar over an arbitrary unbounded changing alphabet. We construct some naturally defined self-similar automaton representations over an unbounded changing alphabet for any lamplighter group $K\wr \mathbb{Z}$ with an arbitrary finitely generated (finite or infinite) abelian group $K$.

Abstract:We consider the problem of characterizing the class of those permutation groups that are the symmetry groups of Boolean functions. These are exactly the automorphism groups of hypergraphs. They are also called the relation groups. In this paper we describe those of them that are simple as abstract groups. This is done by combining results based on the classification of finite simple groups with the description of intransitive actions of simple groups. We also obtain a complete characterization of those simple permutation groups that have regular sets, and prove that (with one exception) if a simple permutation group G is a relation group, then every subgroup of G is a relation group.

Abstract:For any nontrivial abelian group $\mathbb{X}$ we construct a reversible (bireversible in case the order of $\mathbb{X}$ is odd) automaton such that its set of states and alphabet are identified with $\mathbb{X}$, transition and output functions are defined via the left and the right regular actions correspondingly and its group splits into the restricted wreath product $\mathbb{X} \wr \mathbb{Z}$, i.e. is a lamplighter group.

Abstract:We determine the automorphism group for some well known constructions of finite semifields. In particular, we compute the automorphism group of Sandler's semifields and in certain cases the automorphism groups of the Hughes-Kleinfeld and Knuth semifields. We also determine how many nonisomorphic Sandler semifields can be constructed given a finite field F and a finite extension L/F.

Abstract:The main aim of this article is to establish a classification of simple polyadic groups in terms of ordinary groups and their automorphisms. We give two different definitions of simpleness for polyadic groups, from the point of views of universal algebra, UAS (universal algebraically simpleness), and group theory, GTS (group theoretically simpleness). We obtain the necessary and sufficient conditions for a polyadic group to be UAS or GTS.

Abstract:We adapt the notion of a (relatively) definable subset of Aut(M) when M is a saturated model to the case Aut(M/A) when M is atomic and strongly omega-homogeneous over A. We discuss the existence and uniqueness of invariant measures on the Boolean algebra of definable subsets of Aut(M/A). For example when Th(M) is stable we have existence and uniqueness. We also discuss the compatibility of our definability notions with definable Galois cohomology and differential Galois theory.
