Abstract:The monography examines the problem of constructing a group of automorphisms of a graph. A graph automorphism is a mapping of a set of vertices onto itself that preserves adjacency. The set of such automorphisms forms a vertex group of a graph or simply a graph group. The basis for constructing a group of graph automorphisms is the concept of orbit. The construction of an orbit is closely related to the quantitative assessment of a vertex or edge of a graph, called weight. To determine the weight of an element, graph invariants built on the spectrum of edge cuts and the spectrum of edge cycles are used. The weight of the graph elements allows identifying generating cycles and forming orbits. Examples are given of constructing a group of automorphisms for some types of graphs.
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The main problem that this paper attempts to solve is to construct the automorphism group of a graph. An automorphism refers to a self - mapping of a graph, which keeps the adjacency relationship between nodes in the graph unchanged. Specifically, the paper explores how to determine all automorphisms of a graph through algorithmic methods, that is, the set of transformations that can map the graph onto itself and keep the structural characteristics of the graph unchanged. To achieve this goal, the paper introduces the concept of orbits of a graph. An orbit is a set of vertices in the graph that can be transformed into each other. The process of constructing orbits is closely related to the weight evaluation of vertices or edges in the graph, and the determination of weights is based on various invariants of the graph, such as the edge - cut spectrum and the edge - cycle spectrum of the graph.
In addition, the paper also discusses the automorphism problems of different types of graphs (such as regular graphs and strongly regular graphs) and provides specific examples to illustrate how to construct the automorphism groups of these graphs. For example, for some specific types of graphs, such as tetrahedral graphs, cubic graphs, octahedral graphs, dodecahedral graphs and icosahedral graphs, the paper describes in detail the construction process of their automorphism groups.
In general, the core problem of this paper is to develop effective algorithms and techniques for identifying and constructing the automorphism groups of graphs, which is of great significance for understanding the symmetry properties of graphs and their applications in mathematics, computer science and other fields.
