Abstract:Let R=C[x1,x2,⋯,zn]/(f) where f is a weighted homogeneous polynomial defining an isolated singularity at the origin. Then R, and Der(R), the Lie algebra of derivations on R, are graded. It is well-known that Der(R) has no negatively graded component [10]. J. Wahl conjectured that the above fact is still true in higher codimensional case provided that R=C[x1,x2,⋯,xn]/(f1,f2,⋯,fm) is an isolated, normal and complete intersection singularity and f1,f2,⋯,fm are weighted homogeneous polynomials with the same weight type (w1,w2,⋯,wn). On the other hand the first author Yau conjectured that the moduli algebra A(V)=C[x1,x2,⋯,xn]/(∂f/∂x1,⋯,∂f/∂xn) has no negatively weighted derivations where f is a weighted homogeneous polynomial defining an isolated singularity at the origin. Assuming this conjecture has a positive answer, he gave a characterization of weighted homogeneous hypersurface singularities only using the Lie algebra Der(A(V)) of derivations on A(V). The conjecture of Yau can be thought as an Artinian analogue of J. Wahl's conjecture. For the low embedding dimension, the Yau conjecture has a positive answer. In this paper we prove this conjecture for any high-dimensional singularities under the condition that the lowest weight is bigger than or equal to half of the highest weight.
Local Euler characteristics of $A_n$-singularities and their application to hyperbolicity

Abstract:Wahl's local Euler characteristic measures the local contributions of a singularity to the usual Euler characteristic of a sheaf. Using tools from toric geometry, we study the local Euler characteristic of sheaves of symmetric differentials for isolated surface singularities of type $A_n$. We prove an explicit formula for the local Euler characteristic of the $m$th symmetric power of the cotangent bundle; this is a quasi-polynomial in $m$ of period $n+1$. We also express the components of the local Euler characteristic as a count of lattice points in a non-convex polyhedron, again showing it is a quasi-polynomial. We apply our computations to obtain new examples of algebraic quasi-hyperbolic surfaces in $\mathbb{P}^3$ of low degree. We show that an explicit family of surfaces with many singularities constructed by Labs has no genus $0$ curves for the members of degree at least $8$ and no curves of genus $0$ or $1$ for degree at least $10$.

Vanishing of quasi-invariant generalized functions

Abstract: Determination of quasi-invariant generalized functions is important for a variety of problems in representation theory, notably character theory and restriction problems. In this note, we review some new and easy-to-use techniques to show vanishing of quasi-invariant generalized functions, developed in the recent work of the authors (Uniqueness of Ginzburg-Rallis models: the Archimedean case, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 363, (2011), 2763-2802). The first two techniques involve geometric notions attached to submanifolds, which we call metrical properness and unipotent $\chi$-incompatibility. The third one is analytic in nature, and it arises from the first occurrence phenomenon in Howe correspondence. We also highlight how these techniques quickly lead to two well-known uniqueness results, on trilinear forms and Whittaker models.
Nadel-type multiplier ideal sheaves on complex spaces with singularities

Abstract:In this article, we introduce multiplier ideal sheaves on complex spaces with singularities ( not necessarily normal) via Ohsawa's extension measure, as a special case of which, it turns out to be the so-called Mather-Jacobian multiplier ideals in the algebro-geometric setting. Inspired by Nadel's coherence and Guan-Zhou's strong openness properties of the multiplier ideal sheaves, we discuss similar properties for the generalized multiplier ideal sheaves. As applications, we obtain a reasonable generalization of (algebraic) adjoint ideal sheaves to the analytic setting and establish some extension theorems on Kähler manifolds from singular hypersurfaces. Relying on our multiplier and adjoint ideals, we also give characterizations for several important classes of singularities of pairs associated with plurisubharmonic functions.

Abstract:Let V be a hypersurface with an isolated singularity at the origin defined by the function of f : ( C-n, 0) -> ( C, 0). Let L(V) be the Lie algebra of derivations of the moduli algebra A(V) :- C {x(1),...,x(n)}/( f, partial derivative f/partial derivative x(1),...,partial derivative f/partial derivative x(n)). It is known that L(V) is a finite dimensional solvable Lie algebra ( [Ya1], [ Ya2]). L(V) is called the Yau algebra of V in [Yu] and [Khi] in order to distinguish from Lie algebras of other types appearing in singularity theory ([AVZ], [AM], [BY]). dimL(V) is called Yau number in [EK],[Khi]. This number is an analytic invariant. In case V is a weighted homogeneous singularity, it is a natural question whether Yau number can be bounded by a number which depends only on the weight. In this paper we formulate a sharp upper estimate conjecture for the Yau number of weighted homogeneous isolated hypersurface singularities. We prove this conjecture for a large class of singularities.

In this paper we prove that n!P-(a1,P- a2,P- center dot center dot center dot,P- an) <= (a(1) - 1)(a(2) - 1) center dot center dot center dot (a(n) - 1). As a consequence we have proved the Durfee conjecture for isolated weighted homogeneous singularities: n!p(g) <= mu, where p(g) and p are the geometric genus and Milnor number of the singularity, respectively.

Abstract:For arbitrary level $N$, we relate the generating series of codimension 2 special cycles on $\mathcal{X}_{0}(N)$ to the derivatives of a genus 2 Eisenstein series, especially the singular terms of both sides. On the analytic side, we use difference formulas of local densities to relate the singular Fourier coefficients of the genus 2 Eisenstein series to the nonsingular Fourier coefficients of a genus 1 Eisenstein series. On the geometric side, we study the reduction of cusps to compute the divisor class of the Hodge bundle and the heights of special divisors. When $N$ is square-free, this gives a different proof of the main results in the works of Du, Yang and Sankaran, Shi, and Yang.

Abstract:A new definition of analytic adjoint ideal sheaves for quasi-plurisubharmonic (quasi-psh) functions with only neat analytic singularities is studied and shown to admit some residue short exact sequences which are obtained by restricting sections of the newly defined adjoint ideal sheaves to some unions of $\sigma$-log-canonical ($\sigma$-lc) centres. The newly defined adjoint ideal sheaves induce naturally some residue $L^2$ norms on the unions of $\sigma$-lc centres which are invariant under log-resolutions. They can also describe unions of $\sigma$-lc centres without the need of log-resolutions even if the quasi-psh functions in question are not in a simple-normal-crossing configuration. This is hinting their potential use in discussing the $\sigma$-lc centres even when the quasi-psh functions in question have more general singularities. Furthermore, their relations between the algebraic adjoint ideal sheaves of Ein--Lazarsfeld as well as those of Hacon--McKernan are described in order to illustrate their role as a (potentially finer) measurement of singularities in the minimal model program. In the course of the study, a local $L^2$ extension theorem is proven, which shows that holomorphic sections on any unions of $\sigma$-lc centres can be extended holomorphically to some neighbourhood of the unions of $\sigma$-lc centres with some $L^2$ estimates. The proof does not rely on the techniques in the Ohsawa--Takegoshi-type $L^2$ extension theorems.

Abstract:A moduli algebra A ( V ) of hypersurface singularity ( V , 0) is a finite dimensional C -algebra. In 1982, Mather and Yau proved that two germs of complex analytic hypersurfaces of the same dimension with isolated singularities are biholomorphically equivalent if and only if their moduli algebra are isomorphic. It is a natural question to ask for a necessary and sufficient condition for a complex analytic isolated hypersurface singularity to be quasi-homogeneous in terms of its moduli algebra. In this paper we prove that ( V , 0) admits a quasi-homogeneous structure if and only if its moduli algebra is isomorphic to a finite dimensional nonnegatively graded algebra. In 1983, Yau introduced a finite dimensional Lie algebra L ( V ) to an isolated hypersurface singularity ( V , 0). L ( V ) is defined to be the algebra of derivations of the moduli algebra A ( V ) and is finite dimensional. We prove that ( V , 0) is quasi-homogeneous singularity if (1) L ( V ) is isomorphic to a nonnegatively graded Lie algebra without center, (2) There exists E in L ( V ) of degree zero such that [ E, D i ] = i D i for any D i in L ( V ) of degree i , and (3) For any element a ∈ m - m 2 where m is the maximal ideal of A ( V ), aE is not in degree zero part of L ( V ).

Abstract:We present outlines of a general method to reach certain kinds of $q$-multiple sum identities. Throughout our exposition, we shall give generalizations to the results given by Dilcher, Prodinger, Fu and Lascoux, Zeng, and Guo and Zhang concerning $q$-series identities related to divisor functions. Our exposition shall also provide a generalization of the duality relation for finite multiple harmonic $q$-series given by Bradley.

The new Lie algebra is defined by the ideal of antiderivatives with respect to the Tjurina ideal of ( V , 0). More precisely, let and , then and . Their dimensions as a complex vector space are denoted as and , respectively. is a new invariant of singularities. In this paper we study the new local algebra and the derivation Lie algebra , and also compute them for fewnomial isolated singularities. Moreover, we formulate sharp lower estimation conjectures for and when ( V , 0) are weighted homogeneous isolated hypersurface singularities. We verify these conjectures for a large class of singularities. Lastly, we provide an application of and to distinguishing contact classes of singularities.
